LISA’S POV

The air was heavy with tension, silently bearing witness to the unfolding drama. The mystery of Alpha Asher’s fascination with the jagged scar gracing my neck was beyond my comprehension. His face, typically warm and vibrant, had turned pale, as if my words had drained the color from him.

Jonas, his eyes icy and piercing, shot me a glare that could freeze the sun. I quickly averted my gaze to the safety of the floor. It wasn’t Jonas’s icy reaction that prompted me to do so, but the unbearable sight of Asher’s face, now mirroring shock and disbelief.

I shrugged, my voice barely a whisper. “I can’t remember, but my brothers assured me it was so. They said I had taken a nasty fall while galloping around our parents’ farm.”
