Kaira slept off after Elizabeth gave her a tablet. I walked out of the room, thinking clearly.

As soon as I got to the bar, my phone rang.

“Boss, there was a scandal about you and your secretary boss, we have been able to tame it down”. I took a shot of vodka and laughed.

My PRO was shocked. I laughed so hard till I almost choked. “Are you a fool?” I laughed harder.

“Umbrella after the storm?” I yelled. “You tamed it down? Are you taking credit for what you didn’t do?”, I lashed angrily.

“I am sorry sir, we….”. I interrupted him immediately. “You better be sorry in an hour if I don’t get the person behind this! After that, we can talk about your dismissal”.

He stuttered a few times before his words came out. “We will sir. We are sorry”. I hissed and hung up. I took another shot and was pouring the next when Harry stopped me.

“Are you still a drunk? That’s enough!”. I dropped the bottle without a fight. He sat opposite me and asked, “What are y

Gerald packed and ignored the greetings of the staff and barged inside their sitting room with a gun. They were having lunch at the dining table. At the sight of Gerald, they had surprised gestures in their faces. “Mr Gerald, this is no way to act! You can’t barge in on us with a gun pointed at ……”. “Shut it!” Gerald silenced his father in law. He walked closer to them and I could see them trembling. Rubby tried to move but Gerald flicked his tongue at her. “Dear stupid wife, one more step and you will be a cripple”. Gerald was not goofing around with his words. Her mom was shaking and she tried to hold Rubby. Gerald fired two shots to the air and bored a hole in their ceiling. It was the same hole. His bullet didn’t miss. “I am not fucking around. Everyone stands still”, he looked at her mother. “I am going to ask one simple question and I need a simple answer, Rubby, don’t play stupid”. Gerald was angry, the alcohol was mixed up in hi

Gerald stood beside the knives stand and watched us. “Rubby, there is something you need to know”. She nodded with anticipation. “You should not base your whole argument on assumptions! You should never!”. She sobbed softly. “Gerald is not having an affair with Kaira, for your information, Kaira is my woman”. Gerald smirked and took a seat on an armchair in the room. Rubby bowed her head in shame. “Look at me,” I said sweetly. She lifted her head and stared at me. “I know you never liked Kaira, I am aware you ruined her dress at the anniversary”. It was like I was reopening her wounds. She kept her head down. Her hair was scattered all over her face. “During their business trip to Dubai, Kaira met with an accident, which affected her memory”. I saw her curiosity spark up. Her eyes moved around like she remembered something. “She has no memory of who she was in the past, she only remembers your husband and her boss”. Rubby’s POV As I rushed out of the room, I ran fast to my room. I fell on my knees and cried out my heart till there was no more tears in my eye. I have never been so scared all my life. Gerald was going to beat me up just like he did to Mira. I always thought I was different but I wasn’t. Gerald treated me differently because he didn’t didn’t want to scare me and confirm the rumors I heard from my mom and Mira. I wrapped my hands around my knees and groaned in pain. Never has ever prepared me for the kind of trauma I experienced today. I was happy that kaira’s image was definitely going to be destroyed. That would push her out of my husband’s life but I wished I thought it through before I made the move. “Ma’am, mentioning the Leads in this is a very risky move, it will cost you a lot!” The team leader gave a greedy grin. I took off my glasses and opened my pause. “Money is not the problem! I need you to build something, cook up so

Gerald’s POV. As soon as I handed the files containing My company’s contract with Mr Fernando’s to Harry, I zoomed back to Kaira’s. Throughout the drive, I had different thoughts. Most of which was how to deal with Rubby. I was not satisfied with how Harry handled the situation. Her family suddenly became alien in my mind. Left for me, I needed enough reasons not to continue the contract. I stepped on the brakes and parked in the garage. I tried to put my words together before heading inside. Talking to Kaira seemed very difficult. “Holy crap” I hissed. These were the most complicated moments of my life. Taking the bold step, I stepped out of my car. I ignored the piercing glances of the staff and headed straight to Kaira’s room. I pushed the door slightly and noticed she kept a journal away immediately. “What do you want?” She looked at me with fire in her eyes. “Kaira, I can explain “, I stuttered. It was all lies. I couldn’t explain. I c

My alarm went off and I slowly moved out of bed. It was the least thing I wanted. Disturbing Kaira’s sleep. It was office day and I had a lot to cover at work. I freshened up and got dressed. I wore a turkey suit and a Prada shoe. It has always been my favorite kind of shoes. I walked downstairs and I met the busy staff. “Good morning sir, good morning sir,” I heard all over. I sat at the table and was served breakfast. As I ate, I kept my eyes glued on the business reports on the Tv. After breakfast, I walked back upstairs with a breakfast tray for Kaira. I set the table and went beside her. I kissed her face till she woke up with a sweet smile. “Rise and shine baby” I said warmly. She yawned and folded herself back in the blanket. “You smell fresh”, she whispered and turned back to look at me fully. “All dressed?” She raised a brow. I turned around playfully like a model for her. “I look great right?” I winked at her. “Yes, sweet. You

I had a cranky smile in advance as I was about to make more enemies in broad daylight. “Economic growth is very important for any moving city or country. I mean, if the economy of a state is not growing, there is bound to be unhealthy businesses and business growth”. The government officials gave a nod and I could see frowns radiating in the faces of old business men and a few women. “My take is very simple and it is for productivity and the city’s economic development. I for one will want our city to be the most stable and prosperous in the world. Any implementation holding the growth should not be delayed”. There was a round of applause from the government officials and a few business members. “Mr Lead, are you listening at all?”. I turned to the direction of an angry looking man. “The government is trying to increase product taxes by 12%. This means the cost of production will also increase by 12%. That is too much!”. There wa

Harry’s POV Today was Kaira’s therapy session. The best time to spend time with her without Gerald’s presence. I waited for her in the sitting room impatiently. I couldn’t wait to see her. My pacing paused when I saw her walking down the stairs gently. She looked like an Angel in her white flare dress and yellow purse. It was a beautiful color in her. She looked at me with a straight face. “Good morning, how was your night?” I asked as she walked down. “Good morning Mr Harry, I slept well”. Her straight face and forwardness was hurting, I pushed it away and tried to hold another conversation. “Had breakfast?”, I asked trailing behind her. “Yes, thank you. Your brother always makes sure I don’t skip meals”. She was cold and mean. Her words about Gerald fueled up the anger I had for him before. We got outside and I helped her with the door. I stared at her as she battled with the seatbelt. The anger in me had no intentions to h

It was an awkward moment for us. She looked at me and blinked away several times before I could notice. I was optimistic and more concerned about the plans I had made for us. The drive to the very first place we had our first date was nervous and filled with silence. Kaira would barely say anything to me. I packed and she looked around before giving me a confused look. “This doesn’t look like my apartment “. I ignored Kaira and turned around to help her out of the car. She looked around and a slight confusion appeared on her face. “Well, you like what you see?” I asked, almost blushing. She walked around and looked everywhere with a soft expression. “This was the first place we came together for the first time. It was the date I ever had with a woman”. The last lines flew out of my mouth like a whisper. She nodded without words and looked around more. “It feels familiar,” she smiled softly. Seeing her smile was the best therapy for me.

“Can’t you do anything?” Mira wiped her eyes as she watched Gerald escorted by the wardens into prison. Harry squeezed her hand and sighed heavily. “He made his choice, he struck a deal in court and I hate how helpless I am”. His voice, filled with pain as he watched his brother out of sight. “It is funny” Mira laughed bitterly. “You always have someone who you share your day and wins with. Somebody who is willing to listen and make you feel better”. She sobbed softly. “You don’t realize how much they mean to you till the day they leave you”. Mira’s word struck Harry to the bones. He looks at space and memories of Elizabeth filled his mind. “Mira, I need to go” he announced, running back to his car. Mira stood outside the prison’s facility till Craig showed up. “How is he?” She asked him curiously. “He is fine. He asked me to give you this”. Craig handed Gerald’s bracelet to her before walking to his car. She held it closely to

I am here” my mom stroked my hair and it felt comfortable and peaceful. “I thought I wanted him to suffer, but now I can’t bear to see him being put away”. I cried loudly. “He still loves you, Mira” Rubby said dryly. I raised my head and looked at her. “Yes. I have seen how miserable he looked this few days and he still loves you”. She nodded at me. My eyes poured more tears down my face. “I… I don’t know what to do”. I confessed in tears. “Baby, has 46 hours left. Talk to him once. You will feel better”. She assured me. My mom was right

“Mira, you wanted him to suffer, so this is just revenge for you?” He asked. “Yes! You are right. It is revenge for everything he did to me. He abused me and….”. “Is there a report of this allegation?” Craig interrupted her again. Mira was speechless, she opened her mouth and there were no words, just tears. Gerald battled with my grip on him. His hands were shaking. “Did you make or file a report?” Craig asked again. “No but…Harry….” “Oh you mean his brother you were sleeping with also abused you?” Craig blocked her words before it even left her mouth. “Enough! Stop! Stop!” Gerald stood up and yelled. He walked towards the stand and pushed Craig. “Stop. Enough of this madness”. He yelled. “Mr Lead, return to your seat”. The judge commanded. “No, I will not”. Gerald responded. “He has gone mad,” I whispered. “Your honor, isn’t this obvious. My client is in love with the same woman who is bent on ruining h

My sitting room became a mini courtroom. It was the second time Harry was preparing me for the stand. “Harry, I got this” I sighed weakly. Harry looked at me and walked towards me like he was about to punch me. “No you don’t, till I feel you are ready, you are not ready”. I swallowed my pride. “The trial is in twelve hours and Naira has never lost a case and she is a blood hungry woman. She won’t rest till she breaks you on the stand! Got it?”. I nodded and took the stand again. Harry went over possible scenarios and prepared me for my response. “Harry, Naira doesn’t have witnesses”. Craig walked up to him. “Does that mean that she bluffed?” He asked. Craig pulled him aside and from the look on their faces, my guts knew something was wrong. “What?” I asked, getting off the mock stand. “Mira is the only witness she has”. Harry said weakly. I fell on the couch with a headache. “This means she will testify against him no matter what w

Harry’s POV. As soon as I heard their plot, I spoke up. I have been standing for the past two minutes and none of them could tell. They were all filled with range and revenge. “Harry” Craig walked forward but I pushed him out of my way. I went to Gerald and he looked away. “I told you not to do anything! What are you thinking?” I fired at him. “He just lost his company to a woman and you are here beating him for trying to stand for himself” Rubby hissed. “I knew you would be here. A snake trying to get an opportunity to strike! Aren’t you ashamed? Do you have a conscience?” I yelled at her. She looked away and sat down shamelessly. “This is your sister who you never cared about, at first glance you married her husband and now you are here to do what?” I lashed out at her. Craig looked lost and confused. “This is all a means for you to get Gerald, but I will not allow your selfish nature to tear my family apart!”. Rubby looked at me and bat

Gerald’s POV. Nothing prepared me for the moment I saw Mira in her office sipping coffee. I thought I was prepared but I wasn’t. She looked pale and I couldn’t help but notice her eye bags. “Boss”, Craig opened the door and I walked in. At first glance, my heart sank. I hated the feelings I was getting. The urge to walk forward and hug her. “You don’t have an appointment”, she fired at Craig. Craig laughed and took a seat in front of her. I stood by the door, unable to move an inch. I missed her. “My client and I have a settlement offer for you”. Craig presented a settlement document he suggested would cease the fire before it even started. He signaled me and I walked forward and sat next to him. She picked the document and looked at me. “Really?” She smiled coldly. Her smile frightened me. She slipped through the pages and her facial expression changed. “You can’t depose me as CEO ” she said aggressively.

Flashback. I stood under the drizzling rain with a coat as I waited patiently for Craig. He was my trump card to get through Gerald. “Hey”, I walked after him as he walked out of his apartment in gym clothes. “What?” He blasted at me without slowing down. “Can you be polite”, I almost lost my patience. He paused, turned around and raised a brow at me. “I am not your lawyer and I have no intention of becoming one. Even if I loose my job, you can’t afford me”. He was a proud asshole and I felt like walking out on him but I couldn’t. I needed him. “This is not about me. It is about your client, your money bank, without him you would still be an associate in a law clinic”. I fired back. He looked around and walked closer to me. “What do you want?” He lowered his voice and adjusted his tone. “You saw the news. Your client’s wife reappeared after two years and that means trouble”. Craig looked at me like he had no choice. “Follow me”.

I almost lost balance. My mom was motionless. She looked lost as tears rolled down her face. Dad couldn’t lift his face. He walked back upstairs slowly. It all made sense at once. “It was all a plot. She never lost her memory. She sneaked her way in through pity”. I muttered in spite. “Gerald. She manipulated his feelings….. I must warn him”. “Rubby, he is aware” my mom’s voice stopped me halfway. “What?” I turned back and she nodded. “He was at the board meeting when she revealed her identity. She revealed he

It was the first time I ever I had the urge to breakdown in public. My heart was satisfied and my eyes shared tears of joy and fulfillment. Clara walked forward and hugged me. “You are a strong woman and I am proud of you “. She wiped the tear that escaped from her eyes. I hugged her back and it felt good. The clapping and cheering of the board members increased. It was my moment and I enjoyed every bit of it. “Mira, you are a great woman. Welcome” Mr Khoki tapped my shoulder.
