School seemed to drag on all day. Everyone was super nice and wished her a happy birthday. It was probably because it seemed like everyone within the pack was invited tonight. Riley didn't mind, though. Tonight was going to be the best night of her life. She hadn't seen Ethan at all and was disappointed. So, she focused her energy on her classes and getting through the day.
Once the final bell rang, she took off in the direction of home. When she arrived, she found a box outside the front door addressed to her. Riley grabbed it and rushed up to her room to open it. She sat on the floor at the edge of her bed and opened the box. Inside was a beautiful strapless emerald green cocktail dress. It was short, reaching about mid thigh, but flared out at the waist. It was tight around the top and had a sweetheart neckline. It was embellished with gold and light green designs resembling foliage and leaves like in a forest. Riley stood with the dress pressed against her body and swung it around as she pretended to dance. With one final look in the mirror, she decided to pick up the card and read it. It was from Ethan, wishing her a happy birthday. She hugged the card to her chest and smiled brightly before going into the bathroom to get ready. By 7 P.M. Riley was standing in the front foyer, ready to leave. She had worn the dress Ethan got for her with her hair down in her natural beachy waves and light makeup. She had thrown on some heels and was waiting for Dad to come down to join her on their way over to the party. "You look beautiful," Dad said as he descended the stairs. "I can't believe my baby girl is finally 20 and ready to take on the pack." Riley let out a soft chuckle, "Thanks, dad. For everything. I'm the woman I am today because of you." Her dad hugged her as a tear escaped and came down his face. "Let's get to this party and get our dance on." He held his arm out for her, and she grabbed on as they made their way to the car. Upon arrival at the pack house, Riley noticed it was packed. People were hanging inside and out. Lights inside were dimmed, and she could hear the music booming from outside. Ethan really made it like a dance club. She spotted Ethan waiting outside the doors for her. "Go on, baby, I'll catch up eventually. I need to find Sarah. If I don't see you in there, I will catch you at midnight for your shift and run." Riley opened the door and rushed out, jogging up to Ethan. She leaped into his arms as he spun her around. "Happy birthday, Riley. You look absolutely beautiful." "Thank you. For this dress, for tonight. It's perfect!" "Well, in that case, let's head inside and party!" Ethan led Riley inside. When they reached the entrance to the dining hall, the music was booming, and everyone was dancing. There was food set up on one side, and on the other, there was a bar. It was decorated beautifully like they brought the forest inside. It matched her outfit perfectly. Lily ran over, "Isn't this amazing! I can't believe Ethan did all this. I gave him ideas but never thought it would turn out this beautiful." "He did a great job," she said, smiling up at Ethan. "You two start enjoying yourselves, and I'm going to go grab us all some drinks." Ethan left Riley and Lily to grab drinks, and the two of them continued to talk and laugh. "There you are, Riley. Happy birthday, sweetheart. I hope you're enjoying yourself," the Luna said as she hugged Riley. "Yes, happy birthday." The Alpha also said, embracing Riley in a hug. "Ethan really went all out. He cares a lot about you, Riley. He has never done this for anyone else. If I'm correct, I will be extremely happy to have you as a future daughter-in-law. I think you are a great match for Ethan." Luna Gloria said. "Thank you, Luna! I would be honored if that is the direction we go in." "Well, I would not be opposed to setting it in motion earlier than the 2 year wait. We usually set that rule for wolves to have the chance to meet their fated mate. However, this would be a fantastic marital arrangement." Riley blushed at that statement. She couldn't believe what they were saying. Her, a part of the Alpha family. She would be thrilled. Ethan finally came back with the drinks, and his parents left them to enjoy the night. A few drinks later, Riley was finally feeling the buzz. It took wolves a lot more alcohol to feel drunk. She still had plenty of room for more, which kept coming to her. She finally excused herself from Ethan and Lily from the dancefloor once they hit a little harder to go use the washroom. She cleaned herself up a bit and headed back out. She couldn't find Ethan or Lily, so she took to the dancefloor again. As she started dancing, that's when it hit her. The smell of fresh grass and pine needles was so strong that it made he weak in the legs as she continued dancing. Her wolf Ava was stirring in her mind, screaming mine over and over again. Riley didn't understand what was happening. All of a sudden, she felt hands on her hips, which sent tingles and sparks through her body. She reached her arm up to hold onto the other persons shoulder. He was so tall, had she never noticed this before? When had Ethan ever smelt this good? She felt her hips continue to sway with the beat as she grinded into, who she assumed to be Ethans lap. She was spun around when his head dipped into the crook of her neck. He took a long sniff of her scent and trailed his tongue and teeth along her neck. She leaned it the other way, giving more access to her marking spot without even realizing it. "Ethan, I love you," Riley said as she closed her eyes, ready to take whatever was coming next. That's when the emptiness came and she felt cold and alone. Her eyes opened, and she was indeed alone on the dancefloor, with everyone swaying to the beat around her. She looked around and started pushing her way out of the crowd. She felt scared and started to panic. Where did he go? Had she said the wrong thing? When all of a sudden she bumped into someone. Her head was swirling with thoughts and anxiety when she looked up to see who it was. "Riley, calm down. It's okay, I'm here." Ethan said as he tried to calm her down. Riley looked at him confused. She didn't smell his scent anymore. She didn't feel the tingles or the spark, and Ava wasn't excited anymore. Who had she been dancing with? Ethan led Riley outside to get some fresh air. Told her it was almost time for her shift and run. So Riley followed Ethan to the edge of the forest where her family and friends were waiting for her. She could also sense the feeling of being watched. Not by one pair of eyes, but two. It was uncomfortable as she didn't know what that meant. Maybe she had drank too much. She focused on what was going to happen next and tried to feel the excitement of of meeting Ava for the first time.Riley woke up feeling restless and afraid. It was like an emptiness took over her whole body, which made her feel panicked and sad. She couldn't understand what was happening. She had never felt this way before. She tried asking Ava, but Ava only told her that she would realize what was happening soon enough. The night had ended off on a good note. She finally shifted for the first time and met Ava. Ava was beautiful. She was soft brown all over with white paws. She ran and ran all through the forest and down by the lake with her family and friends. It was a proper pack run that left her exhausted. By the end, she was ready to get dressed and head back home. Ethan escorted her back home as her dad headed to Sarah's place. Sarah had left the party early as she couldn't shift while pregnant and needed the extra rest. Dad promised to be back by noon to help her with her big move, though. Ethan ended up staying the night with Riley. She didn't have it in her for any extracurricular
Since Riley was doing well in school, she had no problem with taking the day off. She hadn't been sleeping well. She felt tired and paranoid when she should have felt energized and excited. The last two nights, she even felt like there was someone watching her from a distance. She would look outside , peaking from behind her blinds, but couldn't tell where they were hiding. She would toss and turn all night dreaming of nothing but an endless void. Even Ava didn't want to come out and talk. Was there something wrong with her wolf? This was not what she pictured. The last two days, she would get up, get ready, and head to school with only a couple minutes to spare. This left no room for socializing. She barely saw Ethan or Lily, except for at lunch, where she suppressed her feelings deep down and faked it. She would then leave as soon as the final bell rang and run home. Her phone kept going off with texts from Ethan and Lily, laced with concern, even if they didn't mention anything
After the dream state and crying all day Wednesday, she had gone into Thursday emotionless. She got through the day with her new routine and faking any joy and happiness to keep Ethan and Lily off her back. It was finally Friday, and although she still felt empty, she had to keep her spirits up to party all night with Ethan. It was his birthday, after all. She had invited Lily over to get ready with. She appreciated that Lily and Ethan had developed a friendship. It was a lot easier to hang out with friends when your boyfriend was a part of the group. He used to hang out with Nathan and Landon and a few other popular kids, but she thought he was putting in an effort to be close to Riley whenever he had a chance to be. Of course, all his friends were invited, as well as hers, even if it just consisted of Lily now. Neither her nor Lily heard from Ollie. They didn't even see him at school now that she thought about it. What happened to him? Where had he gone? What had he been up to? R
The words slipped out before Riley could process everything. She stepped back and was ready to leave when the hooded stranger spoke. "Hello Riley. We meet again." Riley spun around, trying to allow her eyes to adjust to the darkness. She couldn't see anything besides the large screen at the opposite end of the room and the chairs all in neat rows. She knew this room as she had watched a movie or two here during rec time. However, she couldn't make out who it was sitting on one of the love seats. He definitely hid himself well under the hooded sweatshirt. His voice, though, sounded familiar at that point. Where it didn't hit her before, the familiarity hit her this time. She just couldn't put a name to the voice. She also vaguely remembers the smell too. Like she smelt it before, just not as strong and potent as it was now. Where had she smelt it? "I can see the wheels turning in your head. What are you thinking about?" "Who are you? We've met before, but I just can't pinpoint
Rileys eyes blinked open. She felt groggy and unsure of her surroundings, just like every other time she woke this past week. She couldn't remember where she was, she felt dirty and cold, she couldn't even feel her wolf Ava anymore. Her flesh burned with every movement she took. Was this a dream? Had it all been a dream? She looked around and noticed it was a dark room with no windows, like she was in a basement. The room felt wet and cold. She lay on a bed and noticed a metal chain attached to her ankle. There was a bedside table next to her with a glass of water and a bucket next to the bed. "Hello," her voice came out in a cracked whisper. "Hello," she said even louder. "Is anyone there!? Can anyone hear me!? Please. I need help!" she said as she started to cry. This was real, and she had no memory of how this happened. How long had she been here now. Did she wake up prior to this and do the same thing? She looked down at her ankle, which burned the most. It was raw, and i
As much as Riley tried to get back to the dream state, she was unsuccessful at reaching her stranger, her mate. She hadn't gotten any answers to where she was being kept, and she was still recovering from the wolfsbane that Ollie had drugged her with. She was gaining more energy, and she could feel Ava every now and then, but the silver keeping her in the basement kept her weak enough so she wouldn't shift. Ollie was being kind since she started pretending to be interested in him. He would bring her her meals, give her water to bathe herself with, take the bucket out when it got full of her waste, and combe her hair. Other than that, she kept talking to a minimum to try and earn his trust through actions. The door swung open, and Ollie walked in, taking a big sniff of the air and sighing to himself. Something was wrong. "Are you okay?" "She wants me to take care of you, but I can't ever stay. She wants updates but doesn't want to visit yet. She says I'm yours, but she won't let m
It was the same thing over and over again. She was losing hope of getting out of here. At this point, she didn't know what day it was or how long she had been missing. She didn't know what time it was. She slept and cried and ate whatever measly food they left for her. She never did see anyone either since her last interaction with Ollie. She missed her family and friends and, most of all, her stranger. She didn't even know who he was, but she wanted him. As soon as she got out, she would end things with Ethan and make things right. She had to. Maybe this was her punishment for cheating on Ethan. Maybe the Alpha and Luna did this to her, and everyone was lying. She shook her head as soon as those thoughts crept on her. She had to think of the good. She couldn't let her mind go to the darkness. Everyone was looking for her. They had to be. She was just tired and wished to see the sunlight. Wished to be home again. The door swung open, and her ears perked up. She had no desire to
Riley woke up shielding herself from the sun, but there was no sun. She had just come upstairs before she passed out. Did they put her back into the basement? She looked around and noticed she was laying on the couch still and was indeed upstairs, but it was night outside. She heard someone humming a tune as she tried to sit up. "Riley! You're awake. Please take it easy. Don't sit up too quick," Ollie said, rushing to her side. He helped Riley sit up slowly. "What happened?" she said as she held her head from the pounding inside. "We think it's from a combination of shock and lack of energy from the silver bindings. You're still lacking in energy. It doesn't help that you have hardly eaten since being here. You're always sleeping or crying." "Well, maybe if you didn't keep me chained up, I would be more myself," she said too weak to actually be angry. "Don't worry dear, I have some food coming over to you right now," the evil woman who claimed to be her mother said. Her mothe
"He's here Riley, let's hurry up," Eli pulled Riley along till they got to the front of the pack house. "Alpha Eli. Zach had a concerning talk with me. I apologize for all the choas my family seems to be causing for you and your mate. I have taught them better than this." "It's alright. Let's forget it ever happened and work on tonight's affairs." "Thank you. You will make a great leader." Riley watched on as they shook hands. Luna Marigold and Penelope stood on the opposite side of Alpha Forrester, avoiding any glances at them. Next to them stood Alpha Zach and the twins. Hopefully, things wouldn't get awkward for the rest of their stay. The black SUVs pulled up, and out came Ethan wearing a well tailored blue suit. He looked handsome. Eli walked up and shook his hands and gave him a hug. Riley followed suit. "It's great to have you here, Ethan." "I see you two marked each other. Good thing I'm only here for my father and our packs safety. Otherwise, we have no other bu
Ethan would arrive today just in time for dinner. Riley wasn't sure how much information he had been given, but Eli had spoken to his father about this proposal. It aligned the two packs that Eli was going to do before meeting Riley. Eli had brought the plan up last minute while they had gotten ready the other day before Riley had met with Luna Marigold and Penelope. Before Penelope had run off in wolf form. Before Penelope was chased through the woods and was brought back home unarmed. Things could have been a lot worse. However, she was safe, and that was all that mattered. There were more rogue attacks than normal, and Riley had a suspicious feeling it was all the Rogue King. They needed to rush the process and have a backup if Ethan didn't work out. That's what Luna Marigold and Penelope were working on today. Eli and Alpha Forrester were in meetings, warning the other surrounding packs. However, no one else seemed to have a firstborn daughter. Riley was stuck inside the cottage
"Riley, you need to calm down. I didn't know Penelope would say that. I didn't even know she still had feelings. I needed a mate, and so she would have made an easy choice until I met you. You're my fate, the one the Moon Goddess made for me. I would never choose her or any other. My heart is with you. Sure, I have a past, and I'm sorry if any she-wolves come after you about that. But you have to know how serious I am about you.." Eli didn't get another word out as Riley kissed him. She passionately made out with him, right there in the living room of their cabin. She reached for his pants and undid them with her hands before reaching down and grabbing his dick. She then started to stroke it, all the way down to the shaft and back up to the tip. He was under her trance, and as she let go, she quietly made her way up the stairs. Eli followed. She slowly took her clothes off one by one, allowing Eli to watch the show. She moved to the bed and laid down on her back. "Mark him!" Ava ke
The last two days were filled with tours of the pack and meeting some of their warriors and delegates. They met with families closest to the Alpha, but there still was no mention of when they would have a meeting to go over what brought them here. Eli and Riley had no time for each other, constantly being pulled away for lunches and dinners or shopping trips when not being introduced and in a conversation with others. She was exhausted from the sheer amount of socializing they had done so far. She had never been this social before. She kept putting on a smile and being polite as this is what she would have to get used to being the Alpha's Luna. "Riley! Are you up yet?! Alpha Forrester just called and asked if we could be at his office in 20 minutes," Eli called out from downstairs. Riley groaned and rolled over in bed. This should be more romantic, and she should be getting to know her mate better instead of his past flings. She had been spending a lot of time, especially with Lu
Riley and Eli finished showering and continued to get dressed. "Don't think we're done, Luna," Eli said with a smirk. "We are for now unless you plan to disrespect our hosts by being late," Riley said with a giggle. "I wouldn't dream of it." "What did Alpha Forrester have to say that pulled you away from me?" "Oh, nothing. He just wanted to debrief me on the attacks." "Well, what did he say? We are supposed to work as a team, plus I have some intel that may be of value." "Oh, do you now?" Eli said as he strode across the room to hug Riley from behind as she stood in front of the mirror, "Have I told you how beautiful and perfect you are?" "Thank you," she said with a blush, "But I'm being serious. We should speak before any more private meetings." "I promise," Eli said as he kissed Rileys neck. Coming close to her marking spot, causing her to become aroused once again. "You better stop, I won't be able to contain myself." "I can smell just how much you want me."
Riley woke up and got ready. She threw on a pair of dark blue denim jeans with a white tank top and a black blazer with a pair of black heels. She wanted to look more business casual. She threw her hair up in a sleek ponytail and applied minimal makeup. She looked in the mirror. This was it. This was her first assignment. She felt she looked the part. Hopefully, she wouldn't fall too behind in her end of year assignments. However, she was sure she could work online from the other pack. Riley then grabbed her bags and headed to the pack house. Once Riley arrived, she was greeted by the Alpha and a bunch of their guards. There was a row of 4 black SUVs parked out front already loading bags and supplies. "Where's Eli? Will he not be joining?" "Oh, he is. He's notoriously late. I'm sure that's something you can fix." "I will definitely work on it." "Just don't let his bad habits rub off on you," Alpha Roland laughed. At that moment, Eli came strutting down the path from the
"Ollie, what's happened to you?" "This is what happens when a man loses his wolf." "There's plenty of people without wolves, and they make out just fine." "You mean humans? Ha, that's pathetic. I'm supposed to just go live amongst them when all my life, all I've known, is a pack?" "Why not? It could be a fresh start." "Riley, why are you here?" "Can't a friend come visit you?" "I thought we weren't friends for a while now." "Only because of the way you had changed." "You have to know that wasn't me. I swear it. I was under some kind of mind control. Riley, I'm sorry!" "Who had you under control?" "It was the Rogue King and his witches. They focused more on masking where we were, but every so often, when I didn't do what they asked, they messed with my mind. The Rogue King has no power." "How do you know he has no powers?" "He would have you. He's got nothing. Unless you are a part of his pack, then he can mindlink and use his Alpha control. Otherwise, there's
Ava wiggled out from Thorn, Eli's wolf, and stretched herself awake. Their wolves played like puppies last night, and it felt so good not to have any worries. However, she couldn't help but feel there would be repercussions from last night's revelations. "Come back and keep me warm," Thorn said through their mindlink. "We have to get back. There are some things Riley would like to take care of before we leave." "Fine, but the next two weeks, you're all mine," Thorn said with a hint of a promise. Thorn got up and stretched, and then they both ran back to the packhouse. They shifted and put on some of the spare clothing in the shed they keep for emergencies. "I'll go back to the beach and grab our stuff that we hid away," Eli said as he finished getting dressed. "Great! Thanks. I'm going to go see if I can find your father. I have something I need to ask him." "You could always ask me, I am going to be taking over soon." "It's okay. It's actually a private matter rega
It was 6 PM, and there was a knock at Rileys door. It had to be Lily. She rushed over as there was so much she needed to unload. She was holding onto too much and was finally ready to share some of the details with someone other than the Alpha or Eli. The shock of yesterday's news was unnerving, and she hadn't even spoken to Eli as he walked her home. She left him standing in the hallway as she entered her room last night. She sensed him out there for hours until she fell asleep when he must have gone home. Now, now she could share with Lily the important things. "Lily! I'm so glad you're here." "Good thing I am because if you were thinking of going in that outfit, girl, you need all the help you could use." "Lily!" "I'm just kidding. Anyway, I brought pizza and predrinks. Hope you're ready to party!" "Before we get started, I was hoping we could talk a little first." "Sure, what about. You know you can always talk to me." "I know, this has just been really difficult to come to
