Like a dog who got beaten up, Zach suddenly became quiet and listless.

John patted his shoulder supportively and whispered something in his ear—likely words of comfort.

I narrowed my eyes and thought, "John's still trying to comfort others? He doesn't realize his kidney issues are caused by Susan's drugs as well. Yvette knew this all along, but she didn't warn him because of her pregnancy. Poor John. He becomes everyone's target just because he's Dad's son.

"Yvette and Susan both want to ruin him just to let their child usurp his position. John hopes to use my kidney to save himself, but what he doesn't know is Yvette had someone inject me with a used needle, and now, I have contracted hepatitis C. I can never donate a kidney to him now.

"The only perfect match for him is Dad, but he never intends to donate a kidney to John. He even faked the test results. Poor, poor John. How pitiful can he be?"

I corrected myself inwardly, "Wait a minute. I should be the pitiful one. I got dragged back here out of nowhere to be harvested for a kidney. I just wanted to farm in peace. I didn't ask to die with these two brothers!"

With that thought, I angrily devoured two big lobsters. I still wanted more food after finishing those. I looked up and saw the whole family staring at me strangely.

Oops! I ate too fast. They must have thought I was possessed by a starving ghost.

I quickly apologized before Mom could lecture me, "Mom, I'm sorry. My table manners are awful."

Unexpectedly, she was sympathetic. "It's okay, sweetie. You should eat as much as you want."

Mom pointed to John and Zach. "You two, help me drag Susan to the second floor."

For once, the two brothers were united. They dragged Susan off to the study on the second floor. Dad tried to follow them, but Mom's icy glare stopped him.

Yvette lost her appetite and went upstairs to rest early. After all, her room was next to the study. She might overhear something useful.

I grinned with glee when everyone else left the table. Now, all these delicious lobsters and abalones were mine!

After dinner, I returned to my room and slept soundly. I had a good routine of going to bed early and waking up early. At dawn, I was already up.

The maids hadn't woken up yet, so I took a stroll outside.

The garden at Harrison residence is enormous. The more I looked, the more envious I felt. What a shame. Such fertile land was wasted on flowers. Why didn't they grow crops instead?

I was wondering if I should ask Mom for a plot of land when I heard a gentle voice call out to me. I turned back and saw Mom standing at the door, waving to me.

I skipped toward her cheerfully, but halfway, I remembered her instructions and began walking slowly like a refined lady.

"Mom, good morning," I greeted, noticing the dark circles under her eyes.

"Wow! Mom didn't sleep all night, it seems. But who could have slept? Mom treated Susan like a sister. Thankfully, Mom was a shrewd woman and went straight to the police. I heard Susan even hooked up with someone in prison. Strong people truly won't complain about their circumstances," I mused.

At that moment, Dad came out as well. "Darling, did you stay up all night? Where's Susan?"

Mom gave him a cold glance and said, "Thomas, I…"

"Mom won't ask for a divorce, will she? She'd better not… Dad's almost done transferring the assets. Asking for a divorce now will be foolish.

"But given Mom's pragmatic personality, she won't tolerate this. However, she doesn't have to worry. I would take care of her if she went bankrupt. I would never let you stoop to make money on OnlyFans," I decided inwardly.

Mom glanced at me with a mixed expression, as if silently pleading, "Can you stop bringing up the word 'OnlyFans'?"

Dad asked, "What's the matter?"

"Susan said she wanted to return to her hometown, so I sent her back. There's one more thing. I'm planning to return to work at the company," Mom said.

"No way!" Yvette slammed the table in protest when she heard about Mom's decision to return to work. Her outburst drew everyone's attention. She quickly reverted to her soft and delicate demeanor. "Mom, have you forgotten about your mental illness? You still haven't fully recovered. Dad and I will manage the company perfectly well for you."Mom furrowed her brows and said nothing. Instead, she turned to look at me. I kept my head down, thinking, "Yvette clearly is just worried about Mom going back to the company and getting in the way of her escapades with Dad. Ugh, they're like two dogs in heat! They couldn't even wait to get a room. Don't they know that the office has a surveillance camera? "And what did she mean by mental illness? It was Dad who drugged Mom and forced her to leave the company. Later, Yvette found her a quack who claimed to be a traditional medicine practitioner. He had no license and prescribed prescriptions that only worsened her condition. "No wonder Mom

Now that he sided with someone else, Yvette was so angry that she stomped her foot in frustration.I could only marvel at his change: "What's this development? Did Zach really awaken from his spell? Or is he trying to play hard to get in order to make Yvette feel devastating regret?"As Zach was about to walk away, he stopped an

I finally got some peace and quiet for the next two weeks.Dad seemed to have run into trouble in Gearstone and hadn't come back. On the other hand, Mom left early and came home late every day.
