Chapter 5

“Oh…..Sweet Emily, I knew from the very first day I saw you that you were different from all of them but I really admire you. All I hope for is that the man treats you well and makes you feel appreciated. Let it not be one of those marriages that the couples can’t stand each other. If he dares to mistreat you I will kill him myself.”

“Thank you but I can take care of myself and I know he won’t do anything bad to me because as much as I need him he also needs me desperately. However, can you believe it when I tell you that he also had his own motives for marrying me?”

“No! This is getting even more interesting.”

“He didn’t tell me but very soon he will have to explain that to me. But right now I have to go out and look for a job as a designer. I want to start from below and grow my name little by little. I want the whole world to acknowledge what I can offer.”

“You know you don’t have to work, your husband is already a billionaire” Mira teased.

“Bye Mira thanks for everything. Talk to you soon.”

Emily got out of the bed, freshened up and went to the kitchen to find something to eat for breakfast. To her surprise a heavy breakfast was already served on the table for her as she looked at the woman busy in the kitchen with her back on her.

“You must be Val.” She muttered

“Yes Emily you startled me!  Anyway sit down and have your breakfast. Richard instructed me to take care of all your needs”

“Thank you Val”

Val was not a woman of very many words and she ended up eating the breakfast in silence apart from few comments here and there. She was still warm and lovable as compared to Ruth who mistreated her all her life. But she was going to rise again as strong as ever.

Immediately after she took her laptop and started applying for jobs in real estates and designer companies. She knew it won’t be easy but she was hopeful that somebody will call her.

Not long before she closed her laptop after sending several applications, her cell phone rang and when she looked at the caller ID it was unknown number so she brushed it as someone who has may be lost a digit in a number.

But unknown to her that was one of the companies she had just applied to right now. Was it her luck today? She had been making application for several months to no avail.

“Hello”

“Good morning, I am Ben foster the Director of Foster Corporation .I just saw your application and I would like to invite you for a one on one interview with me personally. Are you available this afternoon?”

“Off course I will come. Thank you for the opportunity”

“Please keep time”

Foster Corporation was not as big as Davis Corporation but she was glad that someone has noticed her finally. As she made her way to the office, her heart was beating faster than normal as she suddenly felt very nervous. She had passed through the most difficult moment and the only thing she needed now was to pass the oral interview.

“Come in and have a seat.” Ben Foster said after she had been escorted to his office by his secretary.

“Thank you sir”

“I can see that you have the qualification. Tell me more about yourself?”

“Well I have been working behind the scenes with Davis Corporations and some of the best designs have been made by me. So I am confident that if you give me the chance I will be able to perform well. Besides I did a design course in college and this is one of the areas that I have excellent capabilities.”

“Davis Corporation is a very big company. Why do you want to work here with us?”

“I also recognize that you are one of the upcoming companies around and I like something that I can grow with and help me grow my career at the same time.”

“Well thought after answer, you have the job. You can report tomorrow in the morning. I know you are really surprised at the sudden hiring but our designer left without a notice and we are in a middle of a very important project, so we need someone as soon as possible. The remuneration will not be good at the start because we are not doing very well but it will surely grow with time.”

Hell yes she didn’t care about the damn money, all she wanted was to make a name for herself so that Richard will have no any other choice but to give her the money she needed.

“I accept”

As she went back home, she was very overjoyed at the prospect of starting to work in a new company with people who will appreciate her worth. Finally things were starting to go well for her.

However when she opened the door to the mansion, Richard was already home sitting on the sofa .He was busy reading his newspaper.  She thought that he didn’t see her and started to tip toe to the stairs when she heard him call her name.

“Emily! What are you trying to do?”

She stood rooted to the spot with embarrassment written all over her face. Richard always made her uncomfortable, she tensed at the stares he gave her and since he was mostly quiet and cold, she didn’t even know if it was possible for them to have a conversation.

She was a poor girl from uncertain background while on the other hand he was the most handsome and eligible billionaire in town. The two of them were different in every way and so there was nothing for them to discuss about.

“I was going to get some water from the kitchen.”

He smirked softly and said” you are such a bad liar Emily. You are just on your way to the bedroom.”

“Alright I forgot I haven’t gotten used to this house .I am sorry.”

“Okay. Where did you go?

“I was called for an interview I had applied for earlier”

“Which company?”

“Foster corporations”

“Mmm……Ben is a friend of mine I hope he gave you the job. But again you don’t need to work, I can take care of your every need. However if you want to go ahead and be employed I don’t have any problem with that because in a way you will be showing me what you can do.

Emily was again dumb folded, why does it seem that he knew every move that she makes. Even the job that she just got belongs to the company of his friend. Gosh the man is so mysterious.

“I don’t want to be idle around in the house I need to do something to prove to you that I am capable of running a business or did you forget that I am still under your test. I have been thinking so hard lately and this is the only way I came up with, to find myself a good job and work very hard.”

“Fair enough, however there is an important reason to why I called you here. This weekend I will take you to the store to buy some clothes .I need you to look beautiful because we will be going to visit my parents on Sunday. They won’t let me rest until I present my wife to them.
