I don’t know how long we have been passed out for, but I knew for sure that I was badly injured. My head was bleeding with a dry blood all over my face. It wasn’t too much, but it was something that was making me dizzy. It was dark for a few minutes before I opened my eyes and regained my consciousness. I was still stuck in the car, my head hurt. Luckily, aside from a few scratches on my arms and hands, my head wasn’t bleeding. But it definitely has an inner injury or concussion. I forced my eyes open, trying to look around and see where I was.“Phoenix!”“Phoenix!” I heard someone calling my name again and again. My vision was a little blurry and my eyes demanding to stay close.“Hold my hand.” he insisted. I did nothing. I just wanted to close my eyes and sleep until the headache was gone.“PHOENIX!” a harsh shout and a sudden shrug to my shoulder pulled me back to reality. I panicked once I knew I was being stuck in a car’s backseat. The car seemed to be upside down, windows broken
“Phone, I was showing you my phone,” he murmured, trying to look innocent when he wasn’t, actually.“You did it on purpose.” I rolled my eyes and walked to and fro in nervousness.“You knew I would never hurt you. Then why did you attack me in the car? Like seriously, it’s all your doing.” I don’t know what was itching his butt when he comes up with this plan, but he seriously wasn’t thinking straight.“How do I know that, and who told you to become my knight in shining armor?” I was desperate at that moment. I had to pee. I couldn’t hold it back.“You are turning red,” he raised his brow and scanned my body movement. I keep taking mini steps and what’s odd is that I couldn’t stay in a spot.If I held it back for another minute, I would definitely flood the whole area. In my mind, I was looking through all the options over and over again. No, there wasn’t enough time to wait for someone to find us. I couldn’t hold it back either, so the only option left was to excuse him nicely and do
"What? what are you blushing for?" Jace asked me, and I shook my head to notice Jace watching me with questionable eyes."I’m just cold," I lied. Of course, I was thinking about Xavier. And there we go. His name again brought a smile to my lips."Have my coat." He didn’t even ask me if I needed his coat, which I didn’t. For some reason, I wanted to go back as soon as I could. It felt like cheating on Xavier when we haven’t even started dating officially."Thank you so much, but it has all the douche cologne on it." I shrugged my shoulders, twisting my face to the right to see if I could climb back. Nope! It was too high from there."I know I was douche back in there." He didn’t even finish when I snorted a laugh."You still are." I don’t know why, but I didn’t want to hear about it anymore. We have already moved on, but I’ve."Phoenix. Let me finish." Once he bluntly looked at me and sort of raised his voice, my smile faded away. "It was my fault. I should have let you explain, but wh
After I snatched the phone from him, he looked restless. The fact that he had a phone this time but was acting like he was helplessly befuddled my mind. He was neither attempting to flee nor performing well. So I wondered what he was planning to do."Phoenix," he jumped to his feet, ready to fight for his phone."Wait! Wait!" Before he could even approach me, I held my hand out for him with his phone in it and said, "Take it." I offered him his phone back because he had a password on it and had also turned off his Wi-Fi and put his phone in airplane mode.I should have known he had prepared himself for any kind of situation."Thank you so much," he gritted his teeth and grabbed his phone back, looking annoyed with me. It was only after he checked his phone that he realized why I had even given it back to him."I’m leaving," I announced. Staying here was not an option for me. My sister was out there at the mercy of her sick and twisted father. She needed me, and I would do anything to
I had lost my tongue and motivation enough to even want to get out of there for a few minutes until Jace’s voice woke me up from the trance state."So, you lied to me? You faked those tears when you said you wanted to call your sister?" Jace, once cutting the call without uttering a word, growled at me. He had no idea what I went through in these two minutes, but it couldn’t necessarily mean they were fucking. But Jace said he doesn’t have a meeting. Anyway, when I get back to my place, I’ll talk to him myself."Phoenix, why did you call Xavier? Why him?" he asked again. I shook my head to return to reality and saw Jace staring at me."Because I want to go back home," I yelled in annoyance. Of course, what did he think I was enjoying here?"You cannot keep me here. It’s not like I wanted to run away with you. You kidnapped me!" I yelled in frustration. Now that I had a lot of questions in my head, I was even angrier"So, you thought you could give him a call? He will come for rescue a
"It is a bear," he whispered again. His eyes were stuck ahead, and his body was ready to take action. I kept on nervously playing with his fingers, my eyes on the target and my body ready, ready to faint."Now, we do what?" I murmured in my mouth, my heart jumping up and down from my throat to my stomach."Do you realize I'm not a freaking Hulk?" He was annoyed as he swirled around to gaze at me. I stared back with a straight face, feeling annoyed."KFC needs to use you. Trust me, they would never get such a big chicken ever again." I spat in rage, although my whole body was shivering, even that didn’t stop me from spitting anger at him. I knew he was not a hulk, but he was the one who got us into this trouble. The least he could do is protect me."And the bear really needs some meat right now. How about we feed you to him?" He arrogantly hissed at me.For the next minute, we both stared at the target. And then it suddenly showed up. I screamed, closing my eyes."Eat him, please!" I s
To my surprise, I found Jace in Xavier’s office."What the hell are you doing?" I stared at him in shock. I can’t believe he was actually going through Xavier’s stuff."Umm-- nothing. You---go---rest." He stammered, not looking at me. He waved his hand to dismiss me, but no, he can’t be serious."Jace, that’s rude. You can’t just peek through his stuff." I rushed on him, closing the drawer that he had opened and pushing him away."What’s your problem, Phoenix? Just go to your room." His rage shocked me, and his eyes scared me."No!" I yelled back, slapping his hand away as he attempted to open the drawer again. He had messed up the entire office completely. I don’t know what was wrong with him, but he was acting crazy."Look, just go." His warning was serious. What the hell was he even up to? He noticed how I was looking at him, so he took a deep breath and forced a very fake smile on his lips to dismiss me. I could be lying if I said maybe that was the reason Xavier always took him a
I spent the rest of the time wondering why Xavier had even taken her with him to this meeting. He knew what she had in her heart for him, and above all, taking her to the restaurant was too much. It was as if he was leading her on. I had been lying there, busy thinking about Xavier and Miranda when my cellphone beeped. Staring at the screen, I frowned. Xavier: You up?I first thought not to respond to him, but then I couldn’t help. I had been missing him a lot, and not responding to him would make me stay awake the whole night. Me: Nope! I gave myself many excuses, and the only reasonable one was that maybe a boss wanted to treat his secretary. Although it sounded bad, knowing the history they have. Not exactly a history, but Miranda’s feelings for him were the reason behind my discomfort. Xavier: Aren’t you sleepy yet? Me: Why do you want me to sleep?Xavier: I don’t. I didn’t say that at all.Me: Yeah, right?Xavier: It seems like someone is in a bad mood. Me: seems like someo
