Chapter 6 Don't Be A Fan Girl

"Mr. Lewis it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Miss Gilliam. Please come into my office." I reply.

"Miss Gilliam the pleasure is all mine." Adam Lewis replies.

"Ms. Smith, please no calls or visitors, as I'm with a potential client." I tell the receptionist.

"Yes Miss Gilliam." Angel replies.

I go in and close the door. I walk around and sit in my chair. He's already sitting. I turn my cell phone off.

"So how can I help you?" I ask.

"Well, I heard your company was under new management and came to check it out. I've been hearing good things and was curious." Adam explains.

"I am very pleased to hear that. I know you were a client and then left us. Can I ask why?" I ask.

"I really don't know. That was all my managers doing. At that time, I wasn't involved. And let's just say I now take more interest in my money." He replies.

"Well, that's a very wise decision. I can tell you I'm here to make this office the best around. The best customer service, the best financial advice, and the best returns to save you as much as possible. If you'd like to discuss hiring us back, I'd be delighted to go over details." I explain.

"I'd like that. How about dinner? I'd like to get to know you better." He replies.

"Mr. Lewis." I began.

"Call me Adam." He interrupts.

"Mr. Lewis I'm very flattered but I don't mix business with pleasure. I don't date clients, past or present. But thanks for the offer. Now if you'd like to schedule a meeting and bring in your financial manager Ms. Smith will be happy to set it up." I continue.

I stand up and hold my hand out for him to shake. He takes my hand in his but just holds it. My hand tingles at his touch. Ok don't fan girl. Omg!

"I'll be seeing you soon, Isabel." He replies.

"Good day Mr. Lewis." I reply.

After he leaves, I flop down in my seat fanning myself. I think I'm having a hot flash! It should be illegal to be that sexy and hot.

ADAM'S POINT OF VIEW

Damn she turned me down. I want her even more now! And she's even sexier and hotter up close. She smells like vanilla. Hmm my new favorite fragrance. Any other woman would have thrown herself at me. But not her, no she's different, special. And I have to make her mine!

END OF ADAM'S POINT OF VIEW

I finished out the week. We're starting to get the past straightened out. I pulled Adam's return to check it myself. There were some missed deductions that would have saved him $1500. While it's probably pennies to him, it's a good excuse to get his business back and see him again.

I call his phone. "Mr. Lewis, this is Miss Gilliam from H.J services. I'd really like to meet with you. I found some discrepancies in your last return that our employee didn't do. To show you we'd love to have your business I'd like to file an amendment and it would get you $1500 back. We of course would do this free of charge and give you 25% off your first year of services."

"Well Isabel I like the sound of that. Would you be willing to have dinner with me to discuss it? I'm afraid I'm pretty booked up otherwise." He explains.

"A business dinner?" I ask.

"Sure." He replies.

"Ok. Just give me the details and I will meet you there." I explain.

"Give me your cell number and I'll text them to you." He replies.

"Ok." I reply with my number.

"See you at seven." He replies.

"Yes sir. Good day." I reply.

"Until tonight, Isabel." He replies.

Another hot flash. I need to get a desk fan!

I arrive at the restaurant at 6:55pm. I wore a one-piece business suit dress. It had double buttons down the front and fell mid-thigh. The waitress shows me to his table. He stands when I approach. He's in a long sleeve polo type shirt and jeans.

"Thank you for meeting with me Mr. Lewis." I reply.

"Ok first of all you have to call me Adam. That's my first demand. My second demand is we wait until after we've eaten. I like a full stomach to make decisions." He explains.

"Umm, ok Mr. Adam." I agree.

"Better." He replies. "I love how she says my name." He thinks.

"So, tell me about you?" He asks.

"Well, I'm from Virginia. I've been in accounting for seven years. My boss sent me here to clean up this location." I explain.

"How long you here for?" He asks.

"About six months. I think I can have it turned around and running top notch by then. The owner said however long it takes." I explain.

"And then what?" He asks.

"Probably back to Virginia." I answer.

"You have family there? Boyfriend?" He asks.

"Yes family, no boyfriend." I reply.

"I find that extremely hard to believe." He raises a brow.

"Ah recent break up." I reply.

"Oh? What happened?" He asks.

"Let's just say the secretary and boss is such a cliche! And leave it at that." I reply.

"Wow! If I had a woman like you there's no way in hell, I'd bang another chick!" He scoffs.

"Um this is not really professional of me to talk about. I've said more than I should have." I explain.

The food arrives and we eat. After we eat, he does finally let me talk some business.

"I'll talk to my manager and get him to set up a meeting with you. How does that sound?" He asks.

"Perfect. Thank you for a lovely evening. The food was amazing." I reply.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'd like to see you again?" He asks.

"I'm sorry but I told you I don't date the clients." I reply.

"I need a few more business dinners to help me make up my mind." He grins.

I smile and walk to valet and give them my ticket. Adam walks with me.

"Have your manager set up a meeting. Good night, Adam." I reply.

I get in my car and drive off. Crap! What am I going to do? I decide to call Mr. Jackson to get his opinion on the situation.
