Chapter Five

Leila's POV

I didn't know how long I had ran or how far I had gone away from the safety of the pack. I stoped to catch my breath. Nothing will ever be the same again. I had lost everything. I was screwed. I felt my eyes wet. I touched my face it was wet with tears. I didn't know how long I had sat down crying but I cried till I was too weak to move any part of my body. Suddenly, I saw a shadow in front of me, before I could make out what it was or who it was, I heard a loud bang that sent a wiring signal to my brain. I raised my hand with so much difficulty to touch the side of my head I felt pain. I saw blood. I couldn't scream even if I wanted to. I saw darkness come faster to me, and with open arms, I welcomed it. There it was, I had met my end. There was nothing to live for again.

"Miss, are you okay?". Was the only thing I could make out from the creature that stared at me. Was it a werewolf or a human? Was it both? Before I could make anything out, I fell with a bang and the world went dark.

Ellie's POV

Everything was set. Our birthday party was going to be a blast. Though it wasn't my idea, but as the D-day drew neater, I was happy we were celebrating it in a grand way. I was glad I was now eighteen. I would no more be considered as a minor. I could now become anything I want without my father thinking it didn't fit my nature or how it would affect his reputation. I will finally be free.

"I wonder how my wolf will look like". Lilly giggled bringing me out of my daydream. I rolled my eyes at her. She's only spoken to her once and she's talking as if she talks to her every single minute. Ariana was the name of her wolf. Mine was Evie. I like it, it matched my character. We had found out that we could communicate with our wolf few weeks ago. Since then, Lilly has been going on and on about how she thinks her wolf will be. Normally, I would had shut her up but I found my self anticipating for that day.

"I just want to get over with everything. Knowing that many people are going to be there watching us shift is making me wish tomorrow would never come". Leila said making us turn sharply to her.

"Why are you suddenly skeptical? Wasn't it your idea. I just have a sweet feeling that everything will go well". I asked immediately. I wanted her to say what was on her mind. She hadn't been herself for the past months. It was as if she was slowly drifting away from us. It increased when I and Lilly mentioned that we've spoken to our wolf. I admit that it is mind relieving that she wasn't mentioning her asshole of a boyfriend every two seconds but her quiet self was more alarming. Lilly is not the quiet type. I raised my brow at her but she only remained drowned in her daily thoughts. I wanted to say something again but Lilly beat me to it.

"It's okay to feel like that. If I have a brother that tells me horror stories as bedtime stories I surely will have the worst imagination of everything. Everything's going to be alright". Lilly said picking up yet another dress. It was physically exhausting to watch her pick thousands of dress when she would end up buying none.

"Personally I prefer the blue dress to this one. It brings out the colour of your eyes". Leila commented as Lilly tried on the hundredth dress since the beginning of the week.

"I wonder why you're still selecting dresses. This is the twelfth time this week we're going out shopping because you suddenly felt that your dress isn't what you want". I said annoyed at the fact that she made us go shopping with her months ago saying that she wanted us to buy the same designs but here we are again waiting for her to find the dress of her dreams. How physically exhausting it was.

My dress was just a simple knee length dress with no much designs. Leila's own too was simple.

"That's because I have to be in the best dress tomorrow. Everything has to be perfect. You don't turn eighteen everyday". She argued pouting. I only shook my head. Lilly had always been the fop amongst us. She always made sure we wore the right and best dresses which if you ask me, once again, it was another physically draining exercise. But then, it was also nice to have a friend who always went shopping for you because she doesn't want you to repeat dresses or wear dresses that are out of date.

"This is the last one, I promise". Yeah. That was like the fiftieth time I am hearing that today. I groaned and closed my eyes. If we are going to spend another hour here, then I should make the most of it.

Finally, the day we had all been waiting for had arrived.

"You should let me call my friend Gemma to do your makeup". Vera said.

"No, there's no need for that. Lilly will do our makeup". I replied running out of the house. It was the first time since she married my father that she was genuinely happy for me. Even though, she tried to hide it under the mask of fulfilling her late sister's wish. I don't know if she was only happy because I will soon be out of her way or that she was genuinely happy for me, but I couldn't care less.

"Guys, it's almost time". The Luna announced happily. The whole pack was here. It was the first shift of the future Alpha. So, it was a major event.

"Let the girls follow us to the other side of the forest and the guys will move to the other". Leila's mother mentioned happily. I gave one last look at my father and his wife before I followed them to the inner part of the forest. We had made a deal that I could do whatever I want once I had my first shift. Through my eyes, I communicated to him. Hoping that he still kept to his promise. He nodded at me, showing that he wasn't going to break it. Vera was smiling as if she'd won a trophy. Witch!

"Just pull off all your clothes and hand them over to us". Lilly's mother said. I removed my clothes slowly. After staying stark naked, for what seemed so long, we heard a loud and powerful howl. It was Damian, he was obviously, the first person among us all to shift.

The first person to shift amongst us was Lilly. Her bone made some snapping sounds making us turn to her. Her bones were cracking. It looked painful. Her face told the story. She bent down in an abnormal position, her bones snapping out of place. She screamed standing on all fours as fur appeared on her body. In a twinkle of an eye, Lilly was gone and what was in her place was a cute white wolf with blue eyes. As I watched her, I felt my body go under some abnormal transformation. First, my bones began twisting in the wrong direction. Finally, it was happening!. I screamed mentally. The pain was unbearable. I screamed so loud that I could hardly recognize my own voice. I found myself on the ground, on all fours. My canine grew longer, I watched as fangs came out from my fingers. My body was suddenly filled with fur. I tried to speak but my voice broke into a small howl.

'You can't talk in your wolf form, dummie'. A voice said inside my head.

'Evie'

'Yes, I'm in control now, when you want to shift back just think of yourself in your human form'.

There was suddenly another loud howl. Then another followed. It sounded like Alpha Harry and then howls from different wolves followed.

"It seemed like the pack members are greeting Damian in their wolf form. Come on let's go or we will miss everything". The Luna said excitedly. She shifted immediately same as the two other women. I sniffed and many scents suddenly filled my nose but there was one that was drawing me to particularly to it. It was beckoning on me. I wanted nothing but to find the owner of that scent. I ran faster as I followed the scent. 'Mate, Mate' Evie chanted. Was that our mate? Would he like us? I asked Evie anxiously bit she kept quiet and kept running towards the scent. Suddenly, we stopped at the source of the mind blowing scent. Evie rubbed her head continuously at his feet. He chuckled and lifted our face up. At first, I was scared to see the disgusted look in his face but when we looked at him, behold, he was the most beautiful sight ever. I knew him. Alpha Caden. He was the elder cousin to Damian. Holy shit, Alpha Caden was my mate, would he reject me immediately he finds out that I am too weak to be his mate? He whitdrew his hand immediately and Evie whined. Here it was, I was definitely getting rejected. There was no way I would ever be considered as the better half of someone as powerful as Alpha Caden. He smiled and touched Evie's fur. She purred in satisfaction.

"Will, wanted to play with her but I told him I needed some time with her". Oh my goodness! And when he talked, I swear that if I was in full control, I would have moaned so loud like a horny wolf and embarrassed myself. The rumors were true. His voice alone could make one have sweet wet dreams.

'See, mate wasn't going to reject us, he loves us already ' Evie said.

"Mate". We turned to the origin of the voice. It was Damian. His eyes was pitch black, meaning that his wolf was in full control. Leila was in front of him full clothed. Wait! Didn't she shift? At least she got what she wanted or she proved us wrong as she would say. It appears that, she was right the whole time. I was so happy, I was almost jumping in delight. Imagine the three of us locating our mates the same day. It was beautiful. I watched as she stepped forward , closer to him but he only shoved her aside and repeated those words again "Mate". Wait, his mate was that fool? And he shoved my friend away embarrassing her in front of everyone? I was going to teach him a lesson he would never forget. I fought for control over my wolf but she was not budging. I wanted to shove his bony ass inside his wide mouth for deceiving my girl. He had convinced her that they were mates. By the time Evie had given me full control, Leila was nowhere to be found. My mate hurriedly covered me in a coat I didn't realize he was with. I looked up at him and his eyes were so sexy. I wanted nothing but to remain lost in them. 'Get hold of yourself, Ellie' , I mentally slapped myself. Leila was missing and here I was drooling.

"Leila is missing". I told Lilly immediately I got to her. She was on top Kenny, Leila's brother. But I didn't let that register in my mind. Leila was the most important thing now.

"Wait,what?!". Kenny screamed bringing a lot of attention to us. I repeated my self immediately he shifted, running probably to look for her. I felt a hand caress my back. I stiffened.

"Anything I can do for you to lighten the situation?" He asked lovingly. I smiled and shook my head. Him already being here was enough. Lilly looked at him, then, his hand placed at the small of my back before she looked at my face. I nodded at her and she gave me a smile that didn't reach her eyes. She was internally freaking out.

"Leila always wanted to be the queen of the moment. I'm not surprised she's created a fuss because the queen of the moment wasn't her this time around". Cassidy said nonchalantly . I almost strangled her.

"I saw her run inside the forest in that direction. She'd probably come back when she's tired". She said nonchalantly. See why I always felt like killing her, she knew all along that Leila wasn't anywhere inside the pack but she stood there and watched her parents run to the pack to look for her.

"I will send my men to search everywhere in the forest". Alpha Caden said and I was thankful because the only thing on my mind was to think of ways to disconnect Cassidy's head from her shapeless body.

"She's nowhere to be found". This was the third group Alpha Caden had sent and they all came back with the same news. I was almost running mad and Lilly was already sobbing in Kenny's arms. She wasn't found in the house either.

"Let's search deeper she could have lost her way". Alpha Caden told the next group. I volunteered to follow them but he said no before I could say anything. It was already lunch time but I couldn't eat anything.

"Alpha, we didn't find anyone but we found blood and this cloth at Everton's forest ". Wait that dress was what Leila wore to the party. Why was it covered in blood? What was it even doing at that forest? Wasn't it were vampires and bloody hunters flocked to capture their victims? I turned to look at Lilly who was crying hysterically in Kenny's arms.

Where the heavenly fuck is my friend?!
