Javier
She’s not leaving me.
Hell damnation, she just isn’t. Even if she wanted to, our bond won’t make her to. It won’t allow any of us to live with it. Not telling her that though…
She was going to learn…
“Is that everything?” I arched my brow asking her. Delilah went for shopping with Claudia and didn’t even know about my companera leaving. She’d be so disappointed on finding out.
“Yeah, I um, returned the stuff you bought except the undies… I guess.” Maya replied.
Her face seemed shy from the mention of that, cheeks reddening. It was really cute.
“I don’t mind, they’re your stuff now. The princess is entitled to a myriad of luxuries,”
“That’s nice, but I’m not that anymore, am I? This union was fake…” she stated, with half a chuckle. “…we should get going, Javier.”
“I’m not taking you, snowflake. I’m still in the process of learning how to drive well.” I smirked at her, saying. “Ambroz is.”
I helped her lift the little bag, watching her startled expression. “Oh…” she trailed.
“Did you take your blood bags?” I asked, with mockery laced in my eyes.
“S-sure…I’ll um, get someone to transfuse them with some excuse.” she replied, with a pout. I glanced at her jet-black hair, which was like a Goddess’. Her transformation was giving her a look far from the innocence she previously emanated.
I walked through the door first, studying how my companera gave her room a last glance before stepping out. Maybe she did need space…
My darkness wouldn’t let her go away for too long…
“Maya!!” someone yelled, blaring a horn as we stepped outside.
My hands moved to cover my ears from the amount of noise Ambroz made. The royal guards also covered their ears too, which was quite funny.
“Seriously?” I scowled at him, as he came down from the car with a hand sweeping through his strawberry blonde hair. Ambroz gave me a wink, which made me growl.
“Have we met?” My mate asked him.
Ambroz answered by wrapping her in a hug. “Of course, you weren’t well so that doesn’t count. I’m Ambroz,” he said.
My fists snapped impatiently at him. I pulled the neck of his shirt just at the back to separate him from Maya. Even though he was a family man now, the playboy scenes I witnessed him act for centuries was imprinted in my damn head.
“Easy, easy,” I murmured.
“Dude, really? Was just getting to know her?”
“It’s okay, really,” Maya smiled at him, shaking him. “I’m Maya,”
“You are really beautiful, M-a--“
“We can get going now!” I exclaimed, pulling Maya’s petite hands in my large ones. I dragged her along with me, escorting her to the car.
“We? Didn’t you say you had an urgent business to attend to while I drop her?” Ambroz asked.
“That.Could.Wait.”
I seethed those words, opening the passenger’s door for her to walk in.
“I could as well open that myself, you know. I’m not some baby--"
“Enter the damn vehicle, chiquita or I swear I’ll…” I thought carefully about my last words so it didn’t scare her. “…sing to you like a raven bird.”
“Man really! Was that supposed to be funny?!” Ambroz chuckled entering to drive.
“Shut.Up.”
Maya got in the car. I looked around the palace cautiously using my darkness to search for any dangerous objects linked to car. When there was none, I got in.
“Woo-hoo! It’s gonna be a long drive!!” My best pal, announced.
Maya was mysteriously silent afterwards, which felt entirely strange. She slept on my shoulders unknowingly after a couple of hours passed.
“Here.” I gave the phone I got for her, as soon as she woke up.
“What? Why?”
“You need it. I’m not accustomed to new technologies but I’ll try adapting because of you,”
Her hands shakily took it, with a suspicious look at me.
“Fine, fine.”
…
Maya
It seemed Javier wore himself out, because the minute I woke up he slept. I watched as his posh heart shaped lips stared back at me. In spite of his powerful and strong aura, he had this beauty of some Korean prince commercial.
This was angelic. It was really something that one could notice this only when he slept.
“Maya…” I heard him trail from his sleep. I arched a brow as to why my name was in his dream. Ambroz was about to say something when I whispered that he should shush it.
“Need you, baby. Don’t leave me.”
I swallowed in hurt as he added those words. My hands clasped around his palms, drawing nearer to him.
“You won’t… right?” Javier sleepily added.
A pang of guilt occupied my chest that instant. I inhaled and exhaled, with nothing to reply him with.
In another life, Javier.
If things maybe happened differently… no abduction, no forced marriage, no blackmailing.
“I’d consider, maybe.” I seethed, untangling my hands from his. I shifted to the edge of the right-hand seat, looking out the window. Just like in time, Ambroz played, ‘The One That Got Away’ by Katy Perry from the car radio.
“I will…” I added subconsciously.
Staring at the tall trees made me get a déjà vu feeling. It was the same one I had back at the orphanage when I looked at the trees. Asking myself questions like…
Was there a place for me somewhere in this world? Would I die soon like those people the natural disaster took before the world ended? Why did I survive out of those people? Was I indeed special or a piece of crap who got lucky by chance?
“We’re there.” The car screeched, to a halt, as Ambroz said.
“We are?” I repeated. Javier opened his eyes, waking up from his sleep.
I had described the forests to them, knowing there was no road of anything sort to drive into. Lots of bushes grew overtime, covering paths due to the abandonment.
We got down instantly. I took my bag which Ambroz helped me carry this time.
“How far does this go?” Javier asked, staring ahead into the forest.
“Just a few walks and I’m at my district. It’s not far--"
“I remember!” Ambroz exclaimed. “We were here centuries ago, Javier.”
“Huh, really?”
“Yeah, remember those evil merchants who sold slaves making the mistake of trying to capture us?” he asked him.
“Cithara. This is Cithara, I remember now!” A glow lit up Javier’s face as he recalled it.
“What about it?” I asked, not understanding.
“Long story, you have to go now, cupcake.” Ambroz said.
“I give the pet names!” Javier growled.
I chuckled at the scene, coming to a realization. This…all this, I was going to miss it. Had to leave though. Had to…
“This is goodbye, I guess.”
“Yeah, Maya.” Javier gave me a short hug, while Ambroz shook me like Javier said he should.
I moved to go, walking away with my little bag in my arms. I stopped in my tracks, feeling some stinging sensations in my bite mark. I sniffled, ignoring it and looking back.
“T-Thanks both of you…” I trailed, before walking deep into the forest.
Please do leave a comment and vote if you liked this chapter. Would really appreciate it as it helps promote the story better. Thanks!
Javier “There’s no way you’re allowing your companera walk that forest alone, is there?” “Nope.” I answered Ambroz immediately. “It’s too dangerous. She wouldn’t have understood if I told her that.” I took some of my stuff from the car. It included a blood bag, my wallet and phone. There was no way I was going to feed my mate to the wolves…. … Maya Coos, clicks… There were croaking sounds of ravens and crows in the sky. It could be creepy for a first timer, but certainly not for me. I’ve been used to this for a long while… Have traveled on foot alone, growing up. “This isn’t a big deal, dammit.” I snorted out, muttering to myself. A gentle breeze blew and so could I hear the rustles as I moved. I couldn’t wait to meet Julian. I had so much to tell him! Of course, apologizing was the first on my list, for not coming back… Goodness knows how he must have been worried. “Breathe in, Maya.” I told myself, with an intent to use my vampiric speed to my advantage. “Out…in, let’s
Maya *Back to reality* … I woke up on shore after surprisingly blacking out. My clothes were tattered and torn, barely hanging on my body. Luckily, my sunlight pendant was still on my neck. Yet, I felt nauseous, my heart ached for something. I let out a cough, gasping out water which definitely entered my system after almost drowning to my death. “Damnation…” I trailed, after I realized I had gone off my path. I didn’t even know where this route led to. It was the other side, of the waterfall. More like the end… My eyes widened at the realization that the wolves might come searching for me on this side. “Fuck!” I hissed, standing up and dusting the sane parts of my clothes that could be dusted. Where was Javier and Ambroz? “Maya…” A voice seeped into my head, from the waters. I looked down, watching it crawl to where I stood. It was slippery, blue and natural looking. “What…do you want from me?” I gasped, holding my throat. It seemed like I was choking. Tears formed in my e
Maya “Get out.” She seethed at Julian who held a resistant look. “D-do I have to?” “I said get out!!” she shrieked angrily, demonstrating with her stick. I watched Julian drop the napkin in his hands, scurrying out like Senora Savannah had asked. At the slam of the door shut, I straightened my back stretching and yawning widely. “You’re still with this stupid rebellious behavior,” She strolled towards me, before stamping her foot in assertiveness. “I should have isolated you since you were a child. You just seem to disrupt everything here, breaking rules, thinking that makes a statement but it doesn’t.” I looked at her, then up at the ceiling, wondering what this old woman was all about. Her face was stern, filled with hate and disgust at me. “We never did get along,” I muttered. “What?!” She moved nearer, raising his stick. “How dare you talk back at me you mannerless—” “Aish…that’s enough!” I replied just as she hit me with her walking stick. On her face was a startled expre
Javier I started losing my senses few fucking seconds after I returned Maya to her district. It was safer for her there, but my darkness got pissed. I hated the fact that I couldn’t tease her like before, or even piss her off… The most annoying damn thing that followed this, was the threat sent to my breakfast table by an unknown person. “What is this?!!” I yelled, with my nose flaring in anger at who dared to put garlic in my bloody food. “Who.Did.This.” About three servants rushed inside my room, and I threw the spoon at them. They dodged it instantly, trembling on their spots. “Who prepared this food?” I snarled, baring my fangs. “Forgive me, my Prince. I deserve to be punished whole fully for this!” The head servant bowed at me, stretching his hands on the floor. “Forgive us, Your Highness!! This is all our fault!!” The remaining two trembled on their spots, shivering as my darkness surrounded the room. Vibrations riveted through, as the entire room begun to darken. I knew
Maya “What are you doing, Maya?! Are you trying to get yourself in trouble again?” Julian yelled, at me. In my hands, was a telescope I stole from one of the guard’s quarters. I was going to use it to plan my escape plan outside once more. “Nobody has to find out,” I grumbled. There was an average height guard right at a high building just beside the entrance. It seemed like Senora made the security tighter. “You’re crazy!” I smirked at Julian’s words, straightening my white shirt and carrying on with my mission. “I’m not, I just don’t want to lead a boring life,” I snorted. All of a sudden, my vampire hearing heard clicks. I directed my eyes to the outside guard, only to see him raising his gun towards the window. “Juliannn!!!” I yelled, using my speed to take him down instantly. Shots tethered in that instant, making my eyes bolt in shock at why the security guard just shot at us. “W-What’s h-happening?” His words were shaky. “I have no idea. Whatever it is, we need to hid
Javier“What do you, fucking want?” I snapped at Scarlett, who called the phone.I could hear cracks and pants of breath, this made me stand up with searching eyes.“I made a mistake, Javier. I underestimated Dimitri’s 21st century abilities. He’s much stronger than me now—”“What are you talking about?” I let out, asking worriedly.“I shouldn’t have gone after him alone. I’m trapped now…” she sobbed. I could hear breeze swooning and could tell she was running. “I don’t want to die, Javier.”“Where are you? Where are you?!” I yelled over and over again but got no response.“No! No!!” she suddenly yelled. I could hear cackles, and sneaky tones which made my blood boil.“No one’s gonna save you now, little Scarlett…” A familiar voice trailed. I began pacing round the room, searching for the car keys. Dammit! I couldn’t even drive.Ambroz, I fucking needed his help. I ran out of the room, zooming with my speed to his apartment across the palace.“Stay away from me!!!” Scarlett yelled. “A
MayaNervously, my hands rode up to my neck beholding my pendant. To think I’ve survived by injecting myself with blood from our infirmary, and… this was how it was all going to end. They were going to find out my secret, sooner or later.“No one moves till the entire tape is watched!”At Senora Savannah’s words, I swallowed with my heart pacing. I could hear her smooth steps as she scanned through every child in the orphanage. Tension was prevalent in the air.“Begin!!” she told the CCTV expert who sat and began. My eyes searched, almost in tears that I was going to be discovered sooner or later. The one thing I didn’t want to do was drag Julian with me. It wasn’t his fault. It wasn’t dammit…“Maya, Maya,” The whispers were so faint, yet, thanks to my vampire hearing, I contained it.“I’m sorry…” I trailed, not knowing what to say to Julian.“It’s Trixie.”My eyes widened immediately. “Huh? What do you want?”She hadn’t spoken to me in ages. The rumored witch, who blended with us as
JavierThe Death Goddess words on my mate didn’t make any sense at all. Why was she attaching a dark destiny to her, as punishment for being my mate? Was it to atone for my past sins?It currently pissed me off, that I couldn’t do anything about it. That was what my step sister, Katherine said. It could be fucking annoying.“A penny for your thoughts, man?” Ambroz suddenly asked.I grumbled, “No.”Queen Zoraida had used my ex’s belongings to figure out where she was. It was in a really far place, so we took something that lifted us from the ground to the sky.“Feeling giddy? This is your first flight, isn’t it?” Ambroz joked.“I.Don’t.Wanna.Talk.About.It.”At my reply, he uncapped a blood bag for himself.“She’s going to be fine; you know. Don’t worry too hard.”“And if she isn’t? Dimitri is a ruthless piece of shit, you know that.” I muttered in reply.Sitting in this flying object which belonged to our clan, wasn’t what I enjoyed doing. Thanks to our wealth gathered over the centuri
