Isabella's POV

In the following two days, Sierra didn't speak to me. Aside from normal greetings, she remained closed off.

It was solely evident as on the weekend she stayed inside the house, another person likely taking the weekend shift in the bar. It felt even more awkward as on Saturday, I still had to leave to work in the cafe. It was equally difficult for me to meet her eyes before leaving.

On Sunday, a day free for both of us, I barely saw her shadow. For the first time since, I truly felt lonely within the confines of the house.

That night, I asked Anne for me to leave work in the afternoon, giving her only vague details. She accepted it, and I closed my eyes as I recalled what Sierra told me about the job the night she revealed it.

Teaching. I was going to be a maths teacher. Sierra told me that I would learn the details later when I came.

If I came, she had corrected before she left the dining room, not even bothering to eat anymore, leaving me with heaps of guilt.
