Isabella.

Stumbling in surprise, I righted myself, holding onto Treasure who wriggled from my grip. Once the surprise wore off, I spied down the stairs to see if anyone else was coming up?

“No one's coming. They're still in the dining room, eating.” She told me. “Isn't it disrespectful to look away from someone who's talking to you?” She asked slyly.

I looked straight at her.

“What do you want?” I asked straightforwardly.

“Well, I wanted to know if what I saw this afternoon was my imagination.”

I furrowed my brows, yet inside my heart beat fast.

“This afternoon? I don't know what you're talking about.”

“Oh, I know more than you think.” she said, taking a step towards me. “I pity you, you know.”

“Her words made me flinch in shock. “What?”

“You know what he called you? A guest.” I flinched as she laughed. “You're literally the mother of his child, and yet he ignores you. How pathetic!”

Cold washed over me at her words. How could she know that?

“He's not… Leo isn't…” I shook my head.

IsabellaHis words echoed continuously in my mind long after I had left the building. The memory of everything else was a blur and if tears fell down my cheeks, I couldn't remember.Even stepping into the school, the chill that coursed my body even through the summer took me through all my classes.By the time classes ended, I arrived home as numb as I began.I stopped in my tracks when I entered the living room. For the first time since the argument, she was sitting in the living room. Even more, she was with Treasure, cooing as she carried him. She noticed me only a few seconds after, freezing as though she was a picture as her gaze met mine. Seconds after, she broke out of our 'stare off', looking interchangeably at Treasure and I.“Agathe left me with him. She said she was tired.” She said, answering the question which came first in my mind at the sight. After a few moments of looking, she turned fully, as though offering him back to me. “I should–” I shook my head. “No. No, it'

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Letting the cat out of the bag.

Isabella.Flashback.1 day ago. With only a day to the party, I still felt as hopeless as ever. The loneliness was overwhelming, especially after Leo and Sierra's words.I had already taken a break from school in preparation for the party. Even though it was cowardly, I hadn't met Damian personally, instead sending it through someone else. It was signed nonetheless, and all I could do was sigh in relief. My relief soon turned to anger at the tense feeling around the home. The place was decorated, with me spying Sierra all around before I retired to my room. All I could do was play with my son, and pray to the moon goddess that her schemes were uncovered. At that moment, a knock came onto my door making me scrunch my brows. Agathe was busy in the kitchen afterall. I stood up, cautiously saying, “Come in,” as I anticipated who was meeting me.The door opened to reveal that it was none other than Emilia. Soon after, she strutted in and shut the door behind her, facing me with a mocking

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Isabella’s secret is out.

Isabella. I played the recording, grabbing the attention of not just them, but the other pack members present.I let them hear her mocking me, calling Agathe a maid. I let them hear how she spoke of her plans and taunting and boasting of my helplessness through it all.I tapped the recording to stop right before she said the rest, bringing the room into silence. Looking around, the silence and stunned gazes were enough to tell me the impact of what I had done.I stared back at Emilia, the fear and shock on her face enough to vilify me.Murmurs began, whilst I dropped the microphone.“Everyone!” Leo's voice rang loud and true around the room, bringing everyone to a standstill. In an instant, the murmurs died down to nothingness. I faced him, only to have found no particular expression on his face.“The party is over. Excuse us.” He finally said.In a matter of moments, the house was empty, leaving the rest of us there.Emilia looked around frantically, even as no words were said.“It

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Open secret.

Isabella. How had people felt, to be drowning under icy waters? How was it to feel the icy ground, once stable under their feet suddenly cave in, breaking faster than half a breath taken? How had it felt for them to suddenly fall and be enveloped by what were surely pricks of chills, so cold it felt hot, and all painful all the same? How had it felt to try and traverse the dark waters, even as its presence around them hurt?I would have never wished such an experience on anyone else. Not when I was feeling something akin to it at the moment. My body shook against the air, deathly cold even though it was spring. I was drowning, drowning against their stares and the fear and knowing that they knew the secret I had tried to keep for so long. The ground hadn't caved under me, and I feared that was more a curse than blessing.Under the oppressing silence, I couldn't hold back my tears any longer. They slipped silently down my cheeks, with only the oppressing silence and gazes of all thre

Leo.I had felt despair mainly once in my mind.It all came together. The familiarity I felt with her even when I had never met her before. The wolf chasing her.I wanted to drown.Sniffs came from behind me. Even though I wasn't facing her, I knew who it was.My hands quelled into fists, but I didn't dare move at the sound of Agathe's sobs. Even if I tried comforting her, would she have accepted? Would she finally acknowledge me for what I really was, a monster?Footsteps came, muffling her sobs.“You need to rest, Agathe,” Sierra spoke comfortingly from a distance. I knew that Sierra was taking her away.Even as she left, I heard the sobs that wracked her delicate shoulders.I stood there for what felt like an eternity, staring at nothing. Even when my legs hurt, I remained as still as a statue. I stared in place as though it was a punishment.Footsteps I recognized erupted, from mute to a loud clack, moving towards me.Suddenly, I was flipped around and met the harsh slap I was giv

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Decision time.

Isabella. My eyes flipped open to meet blue. Blue hues engulfed the room from the window, the sign of dawn bringing the sun higher up the sky.I had never thought of the exhaustion coming from simply the night before. In some ways, I felt lighter than before, and in others, heavier.I was sure that whatever grudge they held against me after everything I had revealed was going to last, weighing down on me. I couldn't face them after them knowing that.As I drifted off to sleep in the night, my mind was made up.I had to leave, and it began today.I stepped quietly, careful not to wake Treasure as I took off my clothing and stepped into the bathroom. The sight I saw as I looked into the mirror was mirthful. While I still felt healthy, my depression for the past few weeks had indeed taken a toll on my eating habits. My hair was a mess, I noted, lifting my hands to touch the tousled white strands, some of which tickled my cheek. Most alarming were my eyes. Sagged and red and swollen, I ha

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Leaving everything behind.

Isabella.I left home a little bit lighter than before. Felix, as always, was in front, ready to take me to the school.“Did something happen?” He asked, seeing the look on my face.Silently, I shook my head, looking away to the window. The drive was spent in silence after. As I entered the school my mind was made up. I greeted the people that passed me by as normal. I taught as normal, despite the weight of my actions constantly looming over me. Despite the weight of my decision being on a single weightless piece of paper.By the time I was done, I moved slowly, as though it would stall my actions. There was no escape the moment I faced the door. With a knock, I entered, sealing my fate on meeting the man I had avoided for so long.….I didn't know exactly what I was going to see, or what I had expected to see. For the longest time, he was a genuine yet almost intimidating man in a buzzcut. After the day Sierra was found, my last impression of him was a bloodied bruised mess which co

Isabella.Once it was time for dinner, I made the resolute decision to leave the room. I had to speak to them anyway. The moment I opened the door to the dining, I felt their stares piercing me. They weren't uncomfortable, yet their presence alone reminded me of all that was said.My eyes remained fixated on the carpet as I moved towards a seat. This time, I wasn't in my usual seat, instead staying at the farthest seat from them. The feeling was instantaneous, yet I ignored it, not looking at them as Agathe brought the food with her, throwing a comforting smile my way.Treasure was still with her, being fed there. That was my saving grace. I couldn't stand the thought of him in this tense atmosphere, especially with what they now knew of him.I ate silently, focusing solely on myself when I stopped in my tracks.I couldn't lose my courage now.“I'll be leaving soon.” The words left my lips. The clunks of cutlery stopped abruptly, leaving only silence.“I've already given out my resign

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Epilogue.

Isabella.Treasure played freely amongst other children. The happiness in his eyes made me smile from the window I watched him in.He had taken to them very well, free to reveal his claws at any time, compared to before. After what felt like minutes of watching, I settled back down onto the couch, filled with stacked books I was hoing to remove for the day.I settled into the dark couch where even before I left, it gave comfort. Now I needed that more than ever.It felt like before, yet everything was so different. Now Sierra came occasionally, no longer a resident of the pack yet still belonging to it. She had all the grace of a Luna. It was something I had known for a long time, yet pleased to see nonetheless - nevermind that I still beat her whenever it came to sparring. The biggest difference, however, was me.I had once come here as a guest, hiding myself away from the pack and not wanting to get attached. Now I was here as Leo's mate and the first and new Luna of the rogue pack.

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Let’s go home.

Leo.I looked at Isabella who bore a stricken look. The disbelief in her was the same one I faced. This was the first time I had physically seen the person right in front of me, and as I looked at him, an open scar on his face with his hair in disarray and his eyes crazed, I knew what my answer would be.Turning to Isabella, I conveyed all I needed to, squeezing her hand lightly. She seemed to understand as she nodded. I let her go, walking toward the man who looked more pathetic as his hopeful eyes looked up at me.“I have no need to fight you, Darius, because there's nothing to fight with you about."I saw his expression morph into a frown and anger light up in his eyes in response, but I wasn't done.“Isabella is not a bargaining chip, nor an object to fight over or own. I doubt that you will understand that as you are now, but it's the truth. Scum like you deserve a terrible fate, and though I'm glad that Isabella is by my side now, I wished she didn't have to face someone like yo

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   The challenge.

Isabella.A chill went through me at the news. Looking at the rest of them filled with shock and plenty of questions, there was nothing we could do but wonder. How did they figure it out already? Was this part of their plan from the start? I saw a mix of emotions, none of them positive on everyone's face. It was only a light squeeze that made me turn to him.Leo's startlingly blue eyes couldn't cool down my tension, but it eased it a bit.And for a moment, knowing everything else, I only let one thought reverberate through my mind.Everything will be alright.…..Throughout the next few days, we had mobilized everybody possible. They had announced to the pack and the council of elders everything that had taken place, never leaving a single detail out. The pack was in an uproar, yet in a discussion of our allies, they felt mixed emotions.I looked around at the people around me. People who had once judged me in favor of the person who was now the biggest threat to the pack. When I sp

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Darius and Lucy escaped.

Isabella.Together we left for the Alpha's quarters, only to see my parents.Surprise filled me as they also stood up.“What are you two doing here?” My mother demanded, eyeing both of us.“Please," Isabella pleaded.I stayed as she explained every word that she heard in the forest, and I could see every single one of their faces turned grave.“Isabella, are you sure that that was everything you heard?"I wanted to nod, but held back. There was still one thing I was holding back.“When they spoke, Lucy said that he needed her. Not just because of the rogues, but…”I knew that this was sure to hurt, no matter how much I steeled myself to say it was Leo's light squeeze that made me shut my eyes and finally let go.“Because she knew the truth behind his father's death."A shattering sound.“Melissa!”I whipped my head in surprise as I saw that Darius's mother was suddenly laying on the floor unconscious. The implications of my words were clear to everyone.I could only keep still, watch

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Discovering the truth.

Leo.The moment she had frozen, I already sensed something was wrong. Two people, whom from the look on her face, she recognized were speaking.Closing my eyes, I heightened my senses to hear what they were saying. The first voice was a rough one that undoubtedly belonged to a man whilst the other was a woman.“You said that it'll work, but they haven't made any moves since.” Said the male one.“I mobilized all these rogues and I promised them domination. Do you think that it was easy?”Rogues? The mention of them.“Or better yet, do you think calming them down was? After they'd lost two people to your damned pack, you should be lucky that they haven't turned on you."“Shut the hell up.” The male voice spat out.“You can't get rid of me. Not when I'm the only one who knows the real secret behind your father's death. Not while you need me to appease the rogues while you mess up and no nothing. Not while I look like your dear–” The woman spat out.“–Shut up!” The words were so loud I wa

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Our home.

Isabella. The next morning was far from normal. The only way it could have been described was cold.Neither of my parents were speaking to me, not even as I prepared breakfast earlier in the morning as an appeasement. They avoided my gaze as much as they could, never speaking a word.It hurt, the silent waves of disappointment that ebbed out of them. I braced through it however.Even little Treasure had noticed it.“Where's daddy?” He whispered to me. I noticed that my parents had stopped eating, either hearing or rightly assuming Treasure words.I attempted to smile at him. “He's not here, but we can visit him if you'd like,” I spoke invitingly. Before Treasure could say a word, I heard my mother's voice for the first time that morning.“Treasure dear, why don't you follow us to the pack gardens? There are plenty of beautiful animals there.”I stiffened at her passive aggressive nature. Yet when I looked at Treasure's imploring eyes which silently asked me for what to do, I gave a sl

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Welcome to the pack.

Leo.The pain Isabella bore on her face made me want to hold her, yet those doubts and fears I thought I had rid myself of stopped me short, leaving me helpless and hollow. The night was silent and cold. Peaceful. It was a complete contrast to the violence that had occurred in what should have been less than 20 minutes ago.The pain from the hands that choked me still ached every time I swallowed, yet I kept silent.I almost flinched when I felt the brush of a hand, only to relax as there was only one person who could do that. I let her wrap her hand around mine, sighing at the guilty pleasure of her touch. When I turned to look at her again, all the warmth I gained drained away. Her eyes glistened with tears even as she stared stonily at the distance. She was devastated. From her parents' reaction to the way it all came crashing down.I vaguely realized that she was trying to do that. Comfort me. In turn, I held her closer, hoping that she gained a bit of warmth as well. When Connor

Goodnight.” He turned to Leo and oblivious to the tension in the air, told Leo. “Goodnight, daddy.” I heard the slight suck of breath from one of my parents, but I focused solely on my son, nudging him forward.“Go on then," I said, as he yawned before moving up the stairs.I watched him carefully until I was sure that he was out of sight and earshot. The sound of his guest room door shutting made me let out a breath of relief.I shouldn't have let my guard down.It happened instantly. One minute, we were all sitting on the table and in a flash, a person pinned Leo to the wall.“Dad!” I called out, panic filling me as I stood up, speeding across the room.My father was on his full feet, his hands wrapped around Leo's neck. Goddess! He was choking him!Leo remained still. Whether he was still in shock
