Isabella.

Every season has its time and purpose, but all of them were a reminder that all good things came to an end. But with that end came new beginnings.

That was what happened over the next week. The tiny sheds of snow reduced until it was no more. The snowy layered ground began melting as the sun came. The water came rushing back in, bringing life to the bare trees and grass whose presence had retreated during the cold. Finally, the first green leaf sprouted from a branch.

It was a new year. Spring was here.

I flipped another page of the book I was reading, resting on the couch. Damian's school was resuming in several days, which meant that I was technically still on holiday. Sierra didn't have that luxury, going back to the bar the next day. With Agathe in her home and Leo somewhere else, I was practically alone for most of the day.

That meant that I could take the time to wander around the Pack area and greet a few people. I even went to the pack mall once, finding the shop whe

Isabella.Perhaps months ago, this would have been a harder decision, but now, the choice was simple.Tears filling my eyes, I spoke in a deeper, more unrecognizable tone.“Sorry, I think you have the wrong number.”“No, no, no. Isabella? I heard you just now. I heard from her just now. You're the one who called me all those months ago, right? Please talk to me.”An almost distant sound came and I heard a voice, one I knew was my father. “Darling, let it go.” He said.“No. I heard her voice. She answered the call. Isabella please talk to me.”My tears now flowed freely. Heart broke piece by piece, each part shot by the arrow of my mother's pleading words.“Sorry. I don't know who,” My voice almost cracked at the last second. I swallowed quickly before continuing. “Who you're talking about. You have the wrong number. I'm sorry.”“Oh.” I shut my eyes tightly, resisting the urge to sob because of how heartbroken that single sound started.“Oh, I'm sorry. So, so sorry.” Her voice was tear

Isabella.I was gobsmacked to say the least. I looked at both of them alternatively, trying to understand what was going on.I looked back at the blonde woman. She was indeed beautiful. Stunning, if I'd ever think of it. Yet no matter how I looked at her, she didn't seem like a werewolf. I had learned better after being blindsided at Sierra's identity all those months ago, but this time I was sure. She was, by all means, a human. The look the woman called Emilia gave me was nothing less than deadly. Her green eyes were cold, looking at me as though I was an insect.“Isabella?”His voice drew me out of the unintentional staring match.“Yes, Leo?” I spoke.Even as he said nothing, he gave me a certain look that brought me to the realization that I was still standing in the doorway and blocking the entrance.Quickly I stepped to the side, allowing for him to pass. It was the first time that I had seen him in what felt like ages, so eagerly I opened my mouth to ask if he was well. I didn'

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   The condition.

Leo.I worked silently in my room. It was already late in the night, and everybody else was likely already asleep. Yet I stood fast. The work was not needed to be done but to take my mind off her.I knew the way I had avoided her was wrong, yet I knew no other way to stay away. Avoiding was what I knew best, yet it felt so difficult with her even then. The look on her face as Emilia appeared behind me was one I didn't want to imagine. Despite the shock, she looked slightly crestfallen. I wouldn't have felt comfortable with a stranger, not to mention a human woman whose attitude I saw from a mile away, staying within my household. But I had no choice. The reason why?Because she was the condition Mr. Donavon gave during the meeting.Flashback.“Well then, Mr. Donavon. What is your final condition?”His lips formed a greasy smile. “Take my daughter to your city.”I blinked. “What?”Gino shuffled beside me, clearly more incensed.“She has always been intrigued with many things in your

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Sierra is missing.

Isabella. After that last interaction, Leo never spoke to me since. At times, I would catch his scent only to find him long gone as though I had only spied a ghost. Whether at work or somewhere else, he was always constantly gone whenever I came. The few times I had managed to meet him, Emilia was constantly with him, whether in the living room or walking with him through the garden, and even coming and leaving with him in his car. She was so attached to him that wherever he was, she was there too.I never approached him whenever she was there. Anytime I saw them together, that bitter feeling I felt in the hallway bubbled up again. Though the bitter feeling was difficult to comprehend, its unpleasant curls within me were enough for me to avoid them before they noticed me.It was only on one occasion where I had been able to be undetected. That day, I was so focused on hushing Treasure who had been strangely inconsolable for several minutes. As I stepped into the dining room, I hadn't

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Letting the secret out.

Isabella.“What?” I stuttered out. That didn't make any sense. None of it did.“Sierra's missing.” He said, affirming the thought I believed impossible. “She hadn't been home for the past 2 days now.”That wasn't possible. Two days? She was here just yesterday. How could…?That was when I remembered the day before. In the dining rooms where everyone else ate.She wasn't there.I thought she had retired early or stayed in. Had I made excuses in my melancholia, not even bothering to check on her? What had happened to me?What had happened to her?It was as though the winter was back with the way cold washed over me.No, I was sure. She would've been with Damian if anything.I let out a breath as I called her phone number, only to hear it was switched off.Why was her phone switched off? Worry began filling me as my thoughts rushed. Suddenly, the thought hit me.Damian was gone for two days. I looked at my contacts searching for Damian's contact.“Her phone is swi–"“–I know,” I interr

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Broken trust.

Isabella. The drive back to the pack was silent, with tension which would be difficult to cut through looming over all of us.Right now the fragile silence and peace was all I could grapple onto to allay the anxiety that rose by the minute. I stayed in the back of the car, watching the two silence peope in the front seats. All the while, a single question echoed in my mind. What had I done?Interfering with any relationship was not in any of my goals. And now, because of my actions, I had wounded not one but two relationship lines.Damian. My empathy reached out for him at the last sight I had, bloodied and bruised, thanks to Leo. I hoped he healed. He was going to hate me. It didn't take a genius to put the pieces together. By now, he must have been aware of my part in this. I would have lost a friend, and most likely my job as well.By the time we passed the gates, the sunset was looming down, turning into the night. My heart palpitated faster as we neared the house, stopping righ

I took several steps back as she stood up.“Sierra-”“Stop!” She roared. My heart skipped a beat at her outburst.“I'm sorry," I tried to say, but she cut me off right after.“Sorry, for what? For ruining my life? For destroying the relationship I held so long with Damian? For destroying the trust my brother had in me? For making me lose trust in you?”I breathed out harshly. “I didn't mean to tell him. When he said you were missing, I thought of everything. I tried contacting you, contacting Damian. I began to panic and wonder if you were safe. It all just came–"“—Came out? You should have picked up the dots. Why would you think I went missing out of nowhere?”“Because you never talked to me! All the times we were having conversations, you were spaced out or distracted. Even if I asked, would you have answered?” I spat out, unable to hold it anymore.“You know, I finally get it."Get what? I wondered, taking a step back. The look on her face alone was enough to frighten me.“Back th

Isabella.Agathe came to my room that night, a sleeping Treasure in her arms along with another girl holding a tray of food behind her.I let her in, hoping that she didn't notice the sight of my swollen eyes as she switched on the lights and directed the girl. I should have known that was a lost cause as her face softened as the other girl left the room quietly.“It seems there was a big fuss yesterday.” She said, putting Treasure into his bed carefully.Unable to trust my voice, I nodded silently, not even bothering to look away anymore. She had seen it already. Arms now free, she came forward until she stood in front of me.“Tell me what happened, dear.”Those words were a trigger, bringing the tears I thought had all been expended to well up again. As they fell, I was covered in her embrace and comforting smell, her murmurs soothing me.Once my surge of tears stopped, I told her everything. From Sierra's secretive behavior to Leo's distance. I told her about my knowledge of her an

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Epilogue.

Isabella.Treasure played freely amongst other children. The happiness in his eyes made me smile from the window I watched him in.He had taken to them very well, free to reveal his claws at any time, compared to before. After what felt like minutes of watching, I settled back down onto the couch, filled with stacked books I was hoing to remove for the day.I settled into the dark couch where even before I left, it gave comfort. Now I needed that more than ever.It felt like before, yet everything was so different. Now Sierra came occasionally, no longer a resident of the pack yet still belonging to it. She had all the grace of a Luna. It was something I had known for a long time, yet pleased to see nonetheless - nevermind that I still beat her whenever it came to sparring. The biggest difference, however, was me.I had once come here as a guest, hiding myself away from the pack and not wanting to get attached. Now I was here as Leo's mate and the first and new Luna of the rogue pack.

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Let’s go home.

Leo.I looked at Isabella who bore a stricken look. The disbelief in her was the same one I faced. This was the first time I had physically seen the person right in front of me, and as I looked at him, an open scar on his face with his hair in disarray and his eyes crazed, I knew what my answer would be.Turning to Isabella, I conveyed all I needed to, squeezing her hand lightly. She seemed to understand as she nodded. I let her go, walking toward the man who looked more pathetic as his hopeful eyes looked up at me.“I have no need to fight you, Darius, because there's nothing to fight with you about."I saw his expression morph into a frown and anger light up in his eyes in response, but I wasn't done.“Isabella is not a bargaining chip, nor an object to fight over or own. I doubt that you will understand that as you are now, but it's the truth. Scum like you deserve a terrible fate, and though I'm glad that Isabella is by my side now, I wished she didn't have to face someone like yo

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   The challenge.

Isabella.A chill went through me at the news. Looking at the rest of them filled with shock and plenty of questions, there was nothing we could do but wonder. How did they figure it out already? Was this part of their plan from the start? I saw a mix of emotions, none of them positive on everyone's face. It was only a light squeeze that made me turn to him.Leo's startlingly blue eyes couldn't cool down my tension, but it eased it a bit.And for a moment, knowing everything else, I only let one thought reverberate through my mind.Everything will be alright.…..Throughout the next few days, we had mobilized everybody possible. They had announced to the pack and the council of elders everything that had taken place, never leaving a single detail out. The pack was in an uproar, yet in a discussion of our allies, they felt mixed emotions.I looked around at the people around me. People who had once judged me in favor of the person who was now the biggest threat to the pack. When I sp

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Darius and Lucy escaped.

Isabella.Together we left for the Alpha's quarters, only to see my parents.Surprise filled me as they also stood up.“What are you two doing here?” My mother demanded, eyeing both of us.“Please," Isabella pleaded.I stayed as she explained every word that she heard in the forest, and I could see every single one of their faces turned grave.“Isabella, are you sure that that was everything you heard?"I wanted to nod, but held back. There was still one thing I was holding back.“When they spoke, Lucy said that he needed her. Not just because of the rogues, but…”I knew that this was sure to hurt, no matter how much I steeled myself to say it was Leo's light squeeze that made me shut my eyes and finally let go.“Because she knew the truth behind his father's death."A shattering sound.“Melissa!”I whipped my head in surprise as I saw that Darius's mother was suddenly laying on the floor unconscious. The implications of my words were clear to everyone.I could only keep still, watch

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Discovering the truth.

Leo.The moment she had frozen, I already sensed something was wrong. Two people, whom from the look on her face, she recognized were speaking.Closing my eyes, I heightened my senses to hear what they were saying. The first voice was a rough one that undoubtedly belonged to a man whilst the other was a woman.“You said that it'll work, but they haven't made any moves since.” Said the male one.“I mobilized all these rogues and I promised them domination. Do you think that it was easy?”Rogues? The mention of them.“Or better yet, do you think calming them down was? After they'd lost two people to your damned pack, you should be lucky that they haven't turned on you."“Shut the hell up.” The male voice spat out.“You can't get rid of me. Not when I'm the only one who knows the real secret behind your father's death. Not while you need me to appease the rogues while you mess up and no nothing. Not while I look like your dear–” The woman spat out.“–Shut up!” The words were so loud I wa

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Our home.

Isabella. The next morning was far from normal. The only way it could have been described was cold.Neither of my parents were speaking to me, not even as I prepared breakfast earlier in the morning as an appeasement. They avoided my gaze as much as they could, never speaking a word.It hurt, the silent waves of disappointment that ebbed out of them. I braced through it however.Even little Treasure had noticed it.“Where's daddy?” He whispered to me. I noticed that my parents had stopped eating, either hearing or rightly assuming Treasure words.I attempted to smile at him. “He's not here, but we can visit him if you'd like,” I spoke invitingly. Before Treasure could say a word, I heard my mother's voice for the first time that morning.“Treasure dear, why don't you follow us to the pack gardens? There are plenty of beautiful animals there.”I stiffened at her passive aggressive nature. Yet when I looked at Treasure's imploring eyes which silently asked me for what to do, I gave a sl

  • Mated to the Rogue Alpha   Welcome to the pack.

Leo.The pain Isabella bore on her face made me want to hold her, yet those doubts and fears I thought I had rid myself of stopped me short, leaving me helpless and hollow. The night was silent and cold. Peaceful. It was a complete contrast to the violence that had occurred in what should have been less than 20 minutes ago.The pain from the hands that choked me still ached every time I swallowed, yet I kept silent.I almost flinched when I felt the brush of a hand, only to relax as there was only one person who could do that. I let her wrap her hand around mine, sighing at the guilty pleasure of her touch. When I turned to look at her again, all the warmth I gained drained away. Her eyes glistened with tears even as she stared stonily at the distance. She was devastated. From her parents' reaction to the way it all came crashing down.I vaguely realized that she was trying to do that. Comfort me. In turn, I held her closer, hoping that she gained a bit of warmth as well. When Connor

Goodnight.” He turned to Leo and oblivious to the tension in the air, told Leo. “Goodnight, daddy.” I heard the slight suck of breath from one of my parents, but I focused solely on my son, nudging him forward.“Go on then," I said, as he yawned before moving up the stairs.I watched him carefully until I was sure that he was out of sight and earshot. The sound of his guest room door shutting made me let out a breath of relief.I shouldn't have let my guard down.It happened instantly. One minute, we were all sitting on the table and in a flash, a person pinned Leo to the wall.“Dad!” I called out, panic filling me as I stood up, speeding across the room.My father was on his full feet, his hands wrapped around Leo's neck. Goddess! He was choking him!Leo remained still. Whether he was still in shock
