Thea's POV
I complied with the Prince's terms despite still being confused about why he needed me to be his Luna for three months. I was nothing but a lowly servant and now homeless and even an orphan.
A couple of maids walked in and started cleaning me up, preparing me for dinner night.
I was cleaned up, dressed in one of the best clothing I had ever seen in my entire life, and even scented with nice perfumes.
"You look beautiful." One of the maids complimented me as she stared at my reflection in the mirror.
I nodded my head in agreement because I was still stunned by my transformation.
Who would have thought that a maid like me could be this beautiful and stunning?
The light blue dress that was custom-made to fit me sparkled as I swirled around. The maids let out a gasp at my gorgeousness.
"The Prince would be stunned when he sees you." Another chirped in.
And I couldn't help but blush at their comments.
They had finished doing my hair and my makeup when a soft knock came at the door.
"Come in," I answered, and it was Damian.
The Prince walked in, his eyes never leaving me. The maid bowed down in respect as they vacated the room giving us some privacy.
"You're ready." He managed to say.
He was so lost in drooling at my beauty that he didn't even realize that I had been watching him the whole time.
"You look beautiful." He said and I gave a slight bow.
"Come on, Thea. You have to be free around me. We're going to be spouses for a period of time and you can't keep bowing like that to me." He said, complaining about the bow.
"Okay sir, I'll try to"
"That's what I'm talking about Thea. Call me Damian and enough with the courtesy." He said with an irritated tone.
"Okay, Da... Damian." I managed to say.
"Whatever. It's time for the dinner date. I hope you're all set?" He said looking to see if anything was missing.
"Yes, my Prince. I'm good."
"That's fine. Let's go then, the Wolf King is waiting." He said and took my hand as we headed to the dining hall.
*****
The hall was beautifully decorated and adorned with all types of flowers and with elegant chandeliers.
It looked just like the hall was being prepped up for a romantic dinner night.
As much as Damian has tried to make me feel comfortable, I was still very much tensed and apprehensive.
I don't know if the Wolf King would accept someone like me.
All my life, I have always been despised and rebuked by people I love; even Jacob, who I loved so much, rebuked me just like everyone else.
"Relax Thea. We'll be fine." Kyla, my wolf tried to reassure me.
The hall was filled with sophisticated men and women, and from their dress, I could tell they were of high rank and rich people.
A guard announced our arrival and as we walked into the hall, they all bowed in respect to us.
"Welcome my Prince and Princess." Someone greeted us and I flinched at the new nickname.
"Welcome my son." The King moved forward to hug Damian.
I shivered inwardly just at the sight of the famous Wolf King. I wouldn't believe that I would get to see the Wolf King someday not to talk of standing this close to him.
Damian turned to me, "This is my soon-to-be wife, father. Her name is Thea." Damian introduced me and I bowed in respect to the King.
The King took me by my arms and threw me into his embrace, I stiffened.
"There's no need for all that respect, my daughter. You're my daughter from now on and it's fine." The King addressed me.
I gave a small nod as I was still stunned to speak.
"Come on, let's go eat." The King said as he led us to the dinner table.
At the table, there were different kinds of meals and snacks laid out.
As a former maid who was used to serving the King, I stayed back to serve but Damian didn't allow it. Instead, he pulled a chair for me to sit beside him.
The King threw me a wide smile, and I only nodded. I was so tense that I could hardly breathe.
As we settled in to eat, a lady stood up from her seat loudly and vacated the room, her face stained with anger.
I turned to Damian, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing much. I'll tell you later." He said.
I was still uncomfortable and even the reaction of the lady made my stomach churn as I lost my appetite.
"Thea, my dear. Are you alright?" The King directed towards me.
Oh shit! I hope I haven't ruined this for Damian.
"I'm fine my King." I lied.
"I understand how it feels to be in a new environment. Be free please." He smiled at me and I relaxed a bit.
"Thank you, my King." I acknowledged.
"So tell me, where are you from?" He asked.
"I'm from the Shadow Moon pack, my King," I answered politely.
"Oh? I have heard good things about the pack. That's nice." He threw me another compliment.
The King turned to Damian and requested to see him in private.
They spoke for a few minutes while I watched them as I picked on my food.
I wondered what they talked about, did the King disapprove of me or anything?
Minutes passed, and the King and Damian returned to their seats. I tried to steal glances at Damian, but he ignored me.
What was wrong?
Damian cleared his throat as he spoke, "Welcome to this ceremony, my people."
"We all know why we're gathered here. To meet my soon-to-be wife and future Luna of this pack." He continued.
My throat grew dry as the whole attention shifted to me.
"Thea here will be my wife and future Luna of this pack, and that's after she has passed the pack test ritual," Damian announced.
I almost choked on my food when I heard Damian mention a ritual. A ritual? What ritual?
Wasn't this a contract?
Damian POV They looked up at me as soon as I announced the performance of the ritual in shock. She wasn't expecting it and I didn't mention this before she signed the contract. The truth was that there wasn't going to be a ritual earlier, but as I arrived with Thea at the dinner hall today, my father had called me to the side and complained of how he had seen a witch in his dreams, and the witch looked just like Thea. Witches are hated in our pack because they're responsible for our curse and to be sure Thea wasn't one, she would have to perform the ritual. The ritual was for her to drink the blood of a werewolf. Witches and werewolves don't get along because they're considered forbidden in the wolf's world, and werewolves are also considered forbidden in the witch's coven."Dad, is the ritual necessary? I think you must have misunderstood Thea's face." I tried to convince my Dad. But he wasn't having it. "I know what I saw, son, but if we need to be sure that she isn't a witch t
Damian POV I retired to my room with the information my father had just told me. Thea was a witch? But we didn't smell it on her. Werewolves were blessed with this keen sense of smell, and we could detect a supernatural just by their scent, but it was different with Thea. By her scent, we could tell that she's an Omega. The ritual was in three days and then we would confirm Thea's true identity if she was a witch or not. If she was a witch, then she would collapse and die just by drinking the blood of a werewolf bug. If she wasn't, then she'd survive it.******We all gathered in front of a raised altar; a priest was chanting, walking round the altar while Thea knelt before it.She was stripped of her clothes and tied to a robe, ready to go through the process of the ritual.I was hoping and praying upon hope that nothing would go wrong because that would mean I would go through the pain of being forced to marry Pamela, the daughter of the Darkfang pack. The Spirit Weaver started to
Thea POVDamian helped me off the floor whilst the cheers and applause went on. I had survived the pack's ritual, and everyone was cheering and singing happily for me. Some were even whistling about it. For the first time, I saw the prince smiling. He shot me a big smile as he helped me up. He turned to the crowd and cleared his throat to address them, "As we all know, my Luna to be had passed the ritual, and with the authority vested in me, I hereby pronounce her the future Luna of the western tribe as we await her coronation." He said and raised my hand in victory. The announcement erupted a lot of laughter and cheers from the crowd as their voice rose even higher. The Wolf King walked up to me and threw me into his embrace, "Congratulations, my daughter." He said as he pressed me into his tight hug. But I could feel this uneasiness in him, doesn't he like me?The Wolf King moved closer to Damian to whisper something to him.I was shivering from the cold, and the robe could b
Thea POV "Hey, I'm sorry about her. I hope you don't take what she said to heart." Damian said. I nodded to his words and moved to sit at the dressing table."Fine then, I'll go now. You don't need to worry about Pamela; she's just here for the coronation, and after that,t, you'll see her no more." He added. "Okay," I replied and he headed towards the door. "But she said something about the Royal family..." I said and he halted halfway. Damian turned to me sharply, "What did she say about the Royal family?" He asked in an urgent tone. "She said there's so much that I don't know, is there anything wrong with the King or anyone?" I asked curiously. "No, there's nothing you should worry about." He said but I didn't believe him. I peered deeply at his eyes through the mirror, "You sure?" I asked again. "Yes?" I stood up and walked towards him, my eyes never leaving his, "Damain, you can always talk to me about it." I assured him. Even though he was saying that everything was fi
Damain POVI searched around but couldn't find Thea, she excused herself a few minutes ago that she wanted to go use the bathroom. But it's been almost 30 minutes and Thea had been out of sight. I signaled Finn, my beta, who was standing guard behind me, "Hey, have you seen the Queen?" I asked him and he shook his head. I was starting to get worried as the crowd and celebration continued without Thea in sight. It wouldn't be right for me to look for Thea. I had been crowned the King, and I couldn't possibly leave the throne empty in front of everyone to go search for her. I turned to Finn, "Go look for the Luna, and make sure you get here with her." I ordered and he left immediately. My father and some other Alphas came forward to pay their respect to me as I was now crowned the King. Thea POV I sat on the table shifting and turning uncomfortable on my seat. I wasn't enjoying the party one bit, and the whole shit was going on again. I just needed to go to my room to relax my head as soon as I could. I turned to Damian to whisper to his ears and tell him that I would like to get back to my room as the coronation had already been done and it was just the party time. Damian looked at me in confusion to ask if there was anything wrong, and I shook my head, so he said that I wasn't enjoying that I could retire back inside. "Fine then, you can go." He said, and I took my leave after bowing happily to him and some other important guests at the table. After making sure I ate to my full and stood up from the table. Damian instructed a guard to me who was meant to follow me until I reached there successfully but I unfortunately couldn't reach there in time. Thea POV "Who are you?" I screamed as I jerked away from the light. It was so bright that if I hadn't covered my face, then I would have gone blind. There was no answer, but instead, the light kept reducing; the light dimmed a little, and the person behind it began to show his/her face gradually. It was a woman, not just a woman. She looked mysterious with full grey hair. "Who are you? What do you want from me?" I repeated as I moved backward, trembling in fear. "My daughter..." She began as she studied me while laughing mysteriously. "I'm not your daughter!" I retorted. "Thea, you'll die a mysterious death just like the past Luna did." She said, and I stood in shock as the strange woman spilled out what she claimed to be the truth about me. "What? No, no. It can't be!" I protested and I was about to tell her how she was mistaken because I wasn't the true Luna of the pack. It's a contract arrangement, and once my three months are done, then I'll be a free m
Damian POV Finn, my beta walked into my office to find me in deep thoughts."Good day, my King." He greeted.I was crowned the King a few days ago after choosing Thea as my Luna and Queen in front of everyone."What is it?" I asked, frowning."My King, I brought information concerning the Luna. I'm sorry it's coming late but we've been so busy with the coronation." He said and dropped a file of papers on my desk."You can go." Damian POV"I think this is a better idea." The Elder stood up to second Thea's opinion and all tribe members quietly listened to hear my final decision.I nodded my head as I glanced at Thea, a proud smile playing softly on her face. "I support you all. The opinion is a good one, I think it's already time we get rid of some unnecessary traditions. Placing Kings will be a new law from henceforth." I declared and they all applaud Thea. "Thank you." Thea mouthed softly to me. I smiled at her, she was truly a good soul. Even though our marriage was just a contract, she didn't behave like it.So real.I cleared my throat as I addressed the pack members, "From henceforth the law of burning the corpse of Kings has been lifted. Instead, they'll be placed in a tomb, and we'll frequently visit them to pay our respects." I imposed. "We accept your declaration, our King." Everyone chorused. I passed the order to some guards to get a tomb ready for the King. We placed the King in a tomb and
Damian POV "Father, you need to stop talking and resting now," Thea said softly. I furrowed my brows at her, that was the first time she had called the King Father. "My daughter, I know I'm not going to get better, so I'm prepared to go from here, but I want you to tolerate each other and be the best of yourselves." My father said weakly as he addressed the two of us. Thea became teary, even though I couldn't see her face but the sudden hoarse voice was clear enough to know that she was grieving inside. I squeezed my father's hand firmly, "Father please, just rest a bit.""It's okay son. I bless the union between you and the Queen. I want you both to be happy together and rule the Kingdom peacefully." These were the last words of my father before he gave up the ghost. His once tight hands around us loosened as he dropped dead right in front of us. "Father..." I called out and rocked his lifeless body on the bed. There was no answer. My father, the King was no more. "Father,
