Thea's POV
I complied with the Prince's terms despite still being confused about why he needed me to be his Luna for three months. I was nothing but a lowly servant and now homeless and even an orphan.
A couple of maids walked in and started cleaning me up, preparing me for dinner night.
I was cleaned up, dressed in one of the best clothing I had ever seen in my entire life, and even scented with nice perfumes.
"You look beautiful." One of the maids complimented me as she stared at my reflection in the mirror.
I nodded my head in agreement because I was still stunned by my transformation.
Who would have thought that a maid like me could be this beautiful and stunning?
The light blue dress that was custom-made to fit me sparkled as I swirled around. The maids let out a gasp at my gorgeousness.
"The Prince would be stunned when he sees you." Another chirped in.
And I couldn't help but blush at their comments.
They had finished doing my hair and my makeup when a soft knock came at the door.
"Come in," I answered, and it was Damian.
The Prince walked in, his eyes never leaving me. The maid bowed down in respect as they vacated the room giving us some privacy.
"You're ready." He managed to say.
He was so lost in drooling at my beauty that he didn't even realize that I had been watching him the whole time.
"You look beautiful." He said and I gave a slight bow.
"Come on, Thea. You have to be free around me. We're going to be spouses for a period of time and you can't keep bowing like that to me." He said, complaining about the bow.
"Okay sir, I'll try to"
"That's what I'm talking about Thea. Call me Damian and enough with the courtesy." He said with an irritated tone.
"Okay, Da... Damian." I managed to say.
"Whatever. It's time for the dinner date. I hope you're all set?" He said looking to see if anything was missing.
"Yes, my Prince. I'm good."
"That's fine. Let's go then, the Wolf King is waiting." He said and took my hand as we headed to the dining hall.
*****
The hall was beautifully decorated and adorned with all types of flowers and with elegant chandeliers.
It looked just like the hall was being prepped up for a romantic dinner night.
As much as Damian has tried to make me feel comfortable, I was still very much tensed and apprehensive.
I don't know if the Wolf King would accept someone like me.
All my life, I have always been despised and rebuked by people I love; even Jacob, who I loved so much, rebuked me just like everyone else.
"Relax Thea. We'll be fine." Kyla, my wolf tried to reassure me.
The hall was filled with sophisticated men and women, and from their dress, I could tell they were of high rank and rich people.
A guard announced our arrival and as we walked into the hall, they all bowed in respect to us.
"Welcome my Prince and Princess." Someone greeted us and I flinched at the new nickname.
"Welcome my son." The King moved forward to hug Damian.
I shivered inwardly just at the sight of the famous Wolf King. I wouldn't believe that I would get to see the Wolf King someday not to talk of standing this close to him.
Damian turned to me, "This is my soon-to-be wife, father. Her name is Thea." Damian introduced me and I bowed in respect to the King.
The King took me by my arms and threw me into his embrace, I stiffened.
"There's no need for all that respect, my daughter. You're my daughter from now on and it's fine." The King addressed me.
I gave a small nod as I was still stunned to speak.
"Come on, let's go eat." The King said as he led us to the dinner table.
At the table, there were different kinds of meals and snacks laid out.
As a former maid who was used to serving the King, I stayed back to serve but Damian didn't allow it. Instead, he pulled a chair for me to sit beside him.
The King threw me a wide smile, and I only nodded. I was so tense that I could hardly breathe.
As we settled in to eat, a lady stood up from her seat loudly and vacated the room, her face stained with anger.
I turned to Damian, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing much. I'll tell you later." He said.
I was still uncomfortable and even the reaction of the lady made my stomach churn as I lost my appetite.
"Thea, my dear. Are you alright?" The King directed towards me.
Oh shit! I hope I haven't ruined this for Damian.
"I'm fine my King." I lied.
"I understand how it feels to be in a new environment. Be free please." He smiled at me and I relaxed a bit.
"Thank you, my King." I acknowledged.
"So tell me, where are you from?" He asked.
"I'm from the Shadow Moon pack, my King," I answered politely.
"Oh? I have heard good things about the pack. That's nice." He threw me another compliment.
The King turned to Damian and requested to see him in private.
They spoke for a few minutes while I watched them as I picked on my food.
I wondered what they talked about, did the King disapprove of me or anything?
Minutes passed, and the King and Damian returned to their seats. I tried to steal glances at Damian, but he ignored me.
What was wrong?
Damian cleared his throat as he spoke, "Welcome to this ceremony, my people."
"We all know why we're gathered here. To meet my soon-to-be wife and future Luna of this pack." He continued.
My throat grew dry as the whole attention shifted to me.
"Thea here will be my wife and future Luna of this pack, and that's after she has passed the pack test ritual," Damian announced.
I almost choked on my food when I heard Damian mention a ritual. A ritual? What ritual?
Wasn't this a contract?
Thea's POV"Look who we have here." I was lost in thought, scribbling poetry on a paper that I didn't hear the library door creak open fast enough for me to hide. When I heard it, it was already too late, my assaulters have already seen me. Hiding out alone in the library has never been much of a peace but I was left with no choice when the rate at which I was being bullied increased. There was no one to ask for help from because no one really cared about what was being done to an omega or a slave and worst of all an orphan.I grew up without knowing my parents except my grandmother who had been recently sick. Grandma told me they died in war as they were our pack warriors. And the bully increased when the Moon Goddess paired me with the Alpha's son. Could life be any more pathetic? But the joy I found was that my mate didn't resent me as much as they all do, maybe it was the mate bond or he truly cared for me but was helpless because of the taunts of being mated to an omega slave. N
Thea's POV It wasn't Jacob but one of the palace security or maybe a guard because he was dressed in all black and even wore a dark helmet that made it difficult to see his face. Which guard or security had the nerve to stand up to the Beta's daughter? Maybe he was new because Nuella literally lived in the palace ordering everyone around while hovering around Jacob like an annoying bee. Everybody knows her.Everyone would look away when she was up to her cunning tricks because nobody wants to upset the pack's future Luna and get in the wrath of the Alpha. "Excuse you?" Nuella inquired, looking at him with contempt, "Who the fuck do you think you are?"My heart shivered at the thought of my saviour getting in trouble in an attempt to save me but he didn't look like he was scared, instead he pointed to the door, "Run along cowards."Nuella moved towards him menacingly, and her friends cowered behind her in fear at the aura he emits, "you have no right to tell me what to do. Do you kn
Thea's POV The guards came straight to me, holding me in place as they made me go on my knees. "What's going on?" I cried to no one in particular. "You stupid bitch! How dare you try to lure the future Alpha?" Beta Cam barked at me, swinging his hand forcefully across my face, "Now accept the rejection!"I looked towards Jacob who quickly turned his face away, "Ja...jacob, please!" I sobbed, blood spilling down my lips where Beta Cam has slapped me.Nuella grabbed my chin tightly as she spat at my face, "you're just a lowly orphan and you don't deserve Jacob. So accept the rejection now, bitch.""Don't make this harder for us Thea. Just say the words and accept the rejection." Jacob begged from the room.I hung my head, tired from the whole pain and drama, "I, Thea Clover accept your rejection, Jacob Onyx as my mate."Nuella let out a strangled laugh as Jacob and I dropped to the ground, holding our chest in pain. But then the pain faded immediately. Our mate bond was broken.Jacob
Damian POVI stared at the girl sitting just opposite me, why was I drawn to her? There was this strange attraction I felt towards her and I couldn't understand it. But I wasn't destined to have a mate, so what could this attraction towards her be?My phone rang, disrupting the thoughts that were running through my head, "Yes, Father, I'm on my way home." I answered without even looking at the screen.Only the Wolf King could call me at any fucking time and I was quite aware that I had been out of the palace for nearly 20 hours, therefore prompting the call.Yes, I'm the son of Wolf King Karlos of the Western pack tribe.
