It was not too surprising that the cold up in the northern mountains was bone chilling, even with the suburban’s heater on full blast, goosebumps painted my ivory skin and holding my baby bump as we drove, I let out a sigh only to have Emrys put a comforting hand on my thigh; sparks of love kissed my skin.
Looking over to my mate who met my eye contact, he smiled lovingly and even though I could see the hesitation in those half stormy, half silver, and as I smiled back with my own hesitation, the thought crossed my mind.
I cannot believe we are actually doing this…
But I am glad we are doing this.

The first two weeks upon the mountains ground full of ice and snow had passed quickly, everyone compiling correctly to their designated tasks, meetings, watch schedules, and to be honest, there was nothing more I could ask of my pack; they were amazing people and giving them tasks which not only highlighted but embraced their individual talents made each day easier. There were no sightings or anything that alerted us of those icy bastards but everyone was on their toes…Letters had come once a week, as there was no internet or cell service up here, and Celeste had worried me in her first letter as she explained how she had felt cramps and there had been spotting of blood during her shower one day; Ostana had rushed her to the palaces medical emergency wing. The doctor had fiddled over her and had happily expressed that it -for some odd reason or another- was normal, as I had found out
Eating nowadays was harder than ever as I felt too sick to eat, both from the pregnancy but also the feeling of homesickness without Emrys here; Chelsa and Ostana have been more than helpful. Ostana was busy with her own pregnancy and lately we had spent so much time at her and Laker’s newly designed apartment in the palace so she could be both comfortable and have the scent of her mate to ease her worrying of both him and the upcoming labour.I finished washing my hands at Ostana’s kitchen sink which was stained gold, orange and emerald green flowers in a small glass vase decorated the area, and drying my hands, I looked out the single sliding window; the pale crescent moon illuminated the ground below, sending delicate moonbeams into the otherwise dark room.My breathing came calm as I closed my eyes and began to
“Read into the moon,” Chelsa moved her finger along the gold words, words that I didn’t even know she possessed the knowledge to know but it didn’t surprise me; Chelsa always had hidden intelligence. She always knew more than she let on.Always.“Read into the moon?” Arrow interrupted. “What does that even mean?”Chelsa shrugged as I began to speak. “Maybe if we read the entire message, we’ll understand,” I spoke pointedly towards my friend who squinted his eyes towards me before rolling them with a smile.“Read into the moon to spark the knowledge.”Silence passed through u
Snow seemed to want to bless us upon the mountain this morning as it kept itself in the clouds, probably becoming rain whenever these clouds reached my mate, and as I took the first morning step out of my tent, I breathed in that fresh mountain air.In front of me sat my usual view of members of my pack going about their business, fires lit, and as they all talked and laughed together, I realized that not only did I miss my mate immensely, but I also missed Laker; secretly I envied him… He was back home, in a warm home, food available hot and ready at all times, and most of all, he was with Ostana. His mate. And his baby.I hadn’t received any word that their baby had come yet, which maybe the mai
“If the Northern Whispers did not cause this murder, then what did?” A member of the pack spoke out, eyes turning to them as mumbles and whispers started to fill the cold air; by now the sun had started to take its rest.Songbirds and squirrels retreated into their homes of the trees as golden rays laid over the snow and ice, making everything seem so magnificent that I wish Celeste was here to witness it. I wish she could take in the smell of evergreens that seemed to be paused in time as ice shimmered upon its needles only to drip slowly downwards, like honey upon white marble stairs, or the streams near us which provided the freshest and crispest water that you couldn’t find anywhere else in this dimming world…I wish she was here, right next to me.
“Little murder problem?” I echoed his words and raised my eyebrows towards him. “We’ve only had one person murdered and how did you even find out?” Emrys had just shared the news to me and I had yet to even bring it to King Anton; unless Emrys, which I am sure he did, wrote a separate letter to the King.Emeric’s eyes deceived him for a quick moment because I could see his pupils dilate just enough before he got a grip on himself and his emotions, reining his pupils back to normal, and he straightened his body back up.“I have eyes and ears everywhere, Luna.” There was no distaste in his words or the title of Luna, and even Cassandra popped her attention up; she was just as curious as I was and something inside us wanted to trust him but our logic rendered reins.
The Moon Goddess accepted The Eternal Flame and granted the first detransformation in the history of time on this time field; the light was granted to those of detransformation to become what they are not, was brighter than a thousand suns, darker than black space which blanketed the universe, and the rush of air which flowed the powers of what The Moon Goddess detested. Her celestial eyes glowed with such anger and distaste, sadness and tragedy, numbness and emptiness; how could someone take her gift of two beings only to throw it back into her face? Without their Lycan powers, they will no longer to be able to shift into their second being, find their mate -which just leaves their correct mate forever on the search of what was once was- and a shorter, weaker life…A normal, human life is their cur
Wet, salty tears began to fall from my eyes and down my cheeks as my feet began to move before my thoughts even processed fully of what was happening, and even though I hadn’t moved this fast ever since I had been pregnant, I ran.Ran as if the world pushed me forward, my flats heavily tapping against the marble flooring as the wind wished through the wisps of hair which framed my hair. The jeans that I wore were supportive against my growing baby, my tee shirt, which was actually Emrys’, let me breathe freely.“My beautiful Lessie,” Was the first words he whispered in my ear as he caught me, our arms tightly wrapping around each other, the mate bonds tingles were stronger than ever and I clutched his usual fighting leathers; soaking in his pine scent, Cassandra howled of happiness to be this close to our mate
Emrys held my hand after all my tests for the night were done; it was about three in the morning now and together, Emrys and I laid on the hospital bed. Outside, lanterns lit up an orange hue as it was snowing and I still couldn’t believe I had been asleep for months. When I had gone into my coma, I guess the doctors thought it would only be a week long and were happy about it due to my leg being broken, among many other scratches and bruises; but when I just kept sleeping, they had gotten scared. No one was sure if the Luna Knight was gonna see the light of day again…Word had seemingly gotten out about the loss of our baby too because flowers among flowers piled into the room, many fresh, and my heart bled for all those that cared; I wished I had been awake to thank everyone. Emrys seemed very happy to see me as when we both saw each other only a few hours ago, the only thing we did was hold each other and cry. Crying was a nice way of getting everything out, and especially now th
Emrys walked through the door, sunflowers and yellow roses in hand, and as our daughter hugged his leg, he walked straight towards me with a beaming smile. “My darling,” He spoke as we embraced each other, his scent never changing from the comforting pine, and I hugged him as tight as possible. He had only been gone a month, which was long enough, but not the longest he had ever been gone either. “My love,” I responded and I could feel our daughter still hugging his leg, making me chuckle, and pulling away just enough to see his face. I could see the wear and tear battle had done to him. His eyes are darker now, skin a bit darker too, and his hair now kissed his shoulder blades; he had lost weight but gained more muscles and I could tell he hadn’t much food just by a hug. “Daddy! Guess what!?” Our beauty spoke, standing up and joining our hug. Emrys smiled as he looked at her, love flooding out from his eyes and I could tell how much he had missed her. “What?” “Momma made hone
I gritted my teeth as I felt my body grow hot.“Get. The Fuck. Off of him.” My words were as sweet as venom, Cassandra growled so fiercely, I could feel the vibration in my feet and I knew from how the lamp buzzed, it also felt the power I had just released from myself. But… Emrys. My mate, my beloved Emrys, was there on the bed that was full of tattered blankets and unkept dirtiness, naked; the man who towered over him was none other than that of a worthless, vile, and disgusting wolf - James.James’ hair was longer now, face dirty with grime, and he definitely went downhill from his time playing daddy dearest. The clothes he wore matched the bed: tattered, dirty, and most of all, stained. With what? Who the fuck knows. I didn’t want to know. Cassandra decided that she wanted power, all of it, instantly and immediately took over my body without a single dread of hesitation; my body shifted into my white wolf, my paws hitting the dirty cement and flinging myself forward, my body sla
Emrys’ POV“So, Alpha,” The title name spit out with such mockery I could’ve shivered but there was no energy left, not as I laid almost naked on top of the bed in a room that had two shattered windows but were levels up; sometimes I had almost thought of-I opened my eyes barely as I heard James drown on and on, just as he always does.Celeste’s POVBlood kissed my nose as Emeric and I made our way quietly down the passage, the cold and eerie place gave me the chills; Cassandra took over half of me but I forced her to save her energy for whoever the fuck had my mate.Last night, we came up with a plan - more than just one - and together we all went over it immensely. We slept until two hours before sunrise and let the waxing gibbous phase light our way; the pack was and usually is, defenseless without a leader and most of the time when they tried to gather the pack which stole our people, they either moved or disappeared completely. Emeric brought a LOT to the table, showing them ga
The golden rays glimmered off my dirty hands, the warmth welcoming me and washing over my body just as the morning dew had done to the variety of plants I looked out on just a few moments ago; there were a few small clouds in the sky, a slight breeze hugging me. A bird, maybe a swallow, sang a sweet song not so far away from me as I found a boulder to sit down on for a quick moment as I caught my breath and gave my feet a moment of rest; closing my eyes, I let the quietness surround me. A butterfly flapped its wings, working hard to get pollen, my ears catching the light and ‘dum dump’ sound.Wildflowers from somewhere drifted with the wind, dancing into my nostrils and relaxing my brain. “Goddess,” I cringed at the voice, my mood instantly dampening with the sound. “I would kill for some Arby’s right now, damn,”“I bet Emrys would too,” I scoffed and took in a deep breath, readying myself for the climbing of this mountain; driving would tip off not only people of the kingdom but a
“Holy fucking Goddess,” I didn’t mean to practically shout the foul language but what else is one supposed to do when all they see is an eight foot pale monster made up of gangly pale blue limbs, wide set teeth, a face with no eyes, and it’s currently crawling towards you now on all fours instead of just walk-“Celeste!” Emeric called from somewhere, my body wanting to follow him although I was frozen in what, shock? Fear? Complete nothingness? In an instant, I am grabbed and pulled into a separate corridor; the air from my lungs escaping and not seeming to find any way back to me as soon as a hand then covers both my lips stopping any and all forms of sound. Silent.Silent.Sil-A scream like screech sounded immediately from somewhere to the East of us, echoing down the halls and vibrating the stoney ground beneath us, Emeric tightened the grasp he had on my lips, not shutting down the airflow but making sure I stayed silent; maybe he just needed a reminder that their was indeed an
“Wait,” Emeric said as I decided to start making my way down the stairs, hoping not to fall and break my ass or worse, and I turned to face him. Emeric held out some type and a bandage, I saw he had already taken care of his own palm. “You need to wrap that, no need in drawing in things we don’t want,” “Oh,” Stepping back up the few stairs and finally meeting his presence, I held out my palm and let him do his thing; his words echoed into my head. Things. Not people or monsters or demons, but things. What the hell was I getting myself and my unborn baby into?It was odd to think like that, odd to realize I was putting my baby -our baby- in danger but I had to do this. I had to save my love, my father to my baby, my mate. I didn’t know what kind of danger he was in but there was something; something was a matter. Just didn’t know what. Emeric said that he wished to go down the stairs first, unsure of what would be awaiting us at the bottom of them and I agreed. I wanted to protect
I tried to peel open my eyes but the constant hammer pounding the insides of my brain forced them to stay shut, some type of dried liquid - not sure if it’s blood or snot or mud - caked my face and I twitched my finger every now and then to make sure I was alive.Heat and coldness somehow both took over my body, sending me into some sort of shock and I felt so goddamn helpless.Celeste, I don’t want to die after all…Celeste’s POV“Are you okay lately?” Ostana asked as she came up to my side, Vera just glancing around at the world, the blue of her baby eyes hadn't worn off just yet and her skin seemed to become more golden everyday. I pulled my blonde hair into a high pony, looking at the mirror, and grabbed some lotion before rubbing it onto my pregnancy belly. The stretch marks made their appearance but they weren’t horrible; they just made me want to itch all the time. With a sigh, I responded. “I don’t know… Not hearing from Rhys has really worried me, I’ve written him two more
Emeric, with no surprise, rummaged through my cabinets with ease and decided that some lunchable that Emrys probably bought some time ago and sat down at the table; Ostana, who told me that she’d kill me if I didn’t let her in on this, sat not far from him and glared with spite.“Can you not eat all the fucking time?” She sneered, apparently she didn’t like him either. Emeric laughed and shoved a piece of pepperoni in his mouth. “You have fire, I like it,” With a spark in his eye, he then looked towards me. “Or should I be saying that to you?”Before I could conjure up some smart ass response, Cassandra took hold and did something we rarely did and used her Luna presence to growl lowly; even though Emeric was strong in whatever position he held, I was still a Luna and he was still below me. Immediately I felt Cassandra take control over half my body, I could feel the strength in half my body increase tenfold and I knew my other eye was gold with her presence. Talons grew out of my o
