TASHA

While we both had a woman's body in front of us, Ava and I couldn't help but steal glances at each other. Ava lifted her from where she lost her consciousness. My arrow hit the part of her body near her neck, and she's bleeding. A deep sense of uneasiness held me rigid in my place, and all that I could hear was the slow, dragging beat of my heart as Ava checked her pulse.

"She's still alive," Ava remarked. "She's a rogue, so we wouldn't be able to do anything for her."

"We'll just leave her here?" I asked, and she responded by nodding her head. "I can't do that, Ava. My conscience will hunt me for the rest of my life if I found out that I killed an innocent werewolf—" she cut me off.

"It was an accident—"

"Even if it was an accident!" I exclaimed, appearing helpless in the situation. I held her by the arm with my cold hands. "Please, I beseech you, let's do something to save her life. After this, I'll make sure not to worry or be a burden to you anymore."

TASHA Rendall commanded a guard to open Ava's cell, and when he did, I raced inside. However, I couldn't bring myself to hold Ava because I was afraid that my touch would lead her to experience even more pain. She suddenly opened her eyes and smiled, making me cry even more. How could she offer me a warm smile after what happened to her? "M-My Luna," she said with her weak voice, which made me break out in tears. Guilt filled my heart upon hearing her voice. "W-Why did you do that? It would be best if you hadn't confessed to something that wasn't your fault, Ava," I said. "You shouldn't be here. You don't deserve to be here." "I..." she drew a breath, "bowed my loyalty t-to you," she said. "I'm w-willing to give my l-life to s-serve you and o-our Alpha." I shook my head. "They should've punished me and not you! You did nothing wrong except abiding by my command. I'm sorry," I apologized. I was about to kneel in front of her when her hand touched my arm. She groaned in pain but

TASHA Rendall and I followed Raiah as she exited her grandfather's room. We saw her head inside the dungeon where the guards were holding the rogue that we had brought earlier, who turned out to be her mother. Rendall hurried in Raiah's direction when he saw that his sister was in the process of releasing their mother from the chains that were restricting her movement. "Stop it, Raiah!" Rendall yelled out while he had both of his hands on Raiah's arms and was keeping them firmly in place. "You are mistaken if you believe that she would be able to fill the emptiness in your heart. She's not the kind of mom that you would be proud of—" "What makes you think you're different from her, huh?" Raiah questioned him as she spoke in a tone that suggested she was agitated. "I trusted you, Rendall! I trusted you more than anybody else in this pack! How could you withhold the truth from me?!" "Because I wanted to protect you from her!" he asserted. "No matter how hard you try to neglect the

TASHA I wasn't able to hear the rest of the conversation between his father and Raiah's mother when Rendall dragged me out of the dungeon. As much as I want to know some things about his father, I have to respect that they are dealing with a much more important matter now. "I'm going to see Ava," I told Rendall while we were walking. "I'll come with you—" I cut him off. "I only wanted to inform you about my plan; you don't have to come with me," I said. "I know that you're already dealing with a lot of pain within yourself; I don't want to add myself as another burden that you have to worry about. Besides," I looked away before completing my statement, "I was the only one responsible for what happened to Ava." "I'm not blaming you for everything, Tasha," he reassured me. I gave him a small smile but chose not to say anything. I looked around, finding something I could carry with me once I went to Ava's house this afternoon. After strolling almost every shop in the area, I bo

TASHAI was jolted awake by the slow yet piercing clang of a gong. Before peering out the glass window, I straightened the night dress I was wearing, and my brows wrinkled as I realized that there was a ruckus happening outside.Yesterday, Rendall exiled the rogue back into the forest, and Raiah cried because of his brother's decision. I wrapped a robe around my body before I opened it, and I saw some of the warriors of the pack standing in front of the quarter. They were with the head of the combatant. TASHA I wrapped my arms around my knees while I was seated on the cold floor. I don't even know how long I've been staying in that same position, just thinking about what had transpired earlier, how Rendall chose to look away from me when I was hoping that he would save me, how he made me realize that I was the only one who's putting up too much trust on him, and how I chose to gamble for someone who wouldn't do the same thing for me. When Rendall decided to turn his back away from me, I wanted to understand that he was just doing his responsibility as the Alpha, that he was being fair and just, but still, the look on his eyes was more than enough to tell me that, just like everybody else, he doubts me as well. I felt that murky dull feeling where I knew I wanted to cry, but tears won't come out of my eyes because the pain had numbed my heart. I didn't even realize how fast the time went by, and the only thing that signified the breaking of dusk was the light coming from the torche

TASHA“Get up!” the head of the combatant ordered me when he arrived at my cell. He was followed by some of the warriors of the pack and three older men dressed in a medieval type of clothing. It was the first time that they appeared inside the packhouse. They started cuffing my hands together and suspending my wrist to a hook in the ceiling. Instantly, it restricted my movement because my feet could barely touch the ground. He entered my cell with a braided, long whip on his hand. Right there and then, I knew that they would put me in a torment just like what they did to Ava.“Ah!” I cried as searing pain resurfaced my body after the first whip has been granted. The affected part of my body prickled with heat which made me fear the rest of the torture. The reality of my predicament trumps my willingness to protect the perpetrator.“Greet the council!” he commanded before hitting my body again…and again…and again. I shouted in pain when I felt my blood dripping from my back and legs.

TASHAAfter we buried Emily's body, the only thing governing my emotion was pure hatred toward Raiah. She used her status in the pack get what she wanted, and because of that, someone ended up losing her life. The more I think about what Emily had gone through after she realized that her actions led to the death of the warriors of the pack, it will only fuel the rage building up inside me. I couldn't even feel the pain that's killing me because witnessing the death of an innocent person is much more painful than that. "Tasha!" Rendall called me when I walked away from him but I didn't bother to look back. All I know is I had to confront his sister about why she put Emily's life in great danger. I want her to pay for what she did. I barged into her room but she was not there. I walked my way to the room of Rendall's grandfather but Rendall stopped me when I was about to open the door. The guards also blocked my way. "Let me go!" I exclaimed. "I need to talk to your sister, Rendall!

"Raiah descended from the Alpha's bloodline, she's still my sister and the daughter of the previous Alpha of our pack, which means that I had to punish her myself because that is how the hierarchy dictates it," he added, almost whispering. SAGE I found Phoenix on our grandfather’s library just like the usual. He’s my cousin who’s five years ahead of my age. He loved this place more than anywhere else inside the packhouse, and I am not sure why. When I used to ask him about it, he would give me an answer once he finished reading a book, and I got tired of waiting for him to converse with me. I’m an outgoing person while he’s the reserved one. That is why when my mother used to tell me stories about Phoenix’s childhood, I couldn’t believe her. They were telling me that this man used to be jolly when he was a kid, but I doubt that. I don’t even understand why a lot of girls in our pack liked him. “They were looking for you,” I said before sitting on the swivel chair in front of him. He didn’t even bother to move an inch, say anything, or even throw a quick glance on my direction. “Phoenix, we’re about to have a visitor and you’re here, isolating yourself, trying to read the same book over and over again. I would surely t

TASHA One year later… Everyone’s busy inside the pack because today is a very special day for me, Rendall, and for Sage, our daughter. Two months ago, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl, and Rendall and I decided to name her “Sage”, a name that signifies being wise and being healthy. Today, the new members of the council will baptize her. It would be a big celebration since Rendall invited his allies from outside the Kumori woods. “Tasha!” Raiah squealed after seeing me. Griego and Phoenix followed her. She gave me a warm hug before handing her gift for Sage. “Phoenix chose it himself for his cousin. Since this morning, he’s eager to meet her again. I’m glad that Phoenix isn’t the only child in the family.” I looked past at her and when my eyes met those of Phoenix, he held on to Griego’s hand. “Thank you for your gift, Phoenix. I am sure that Sage will love it,” I said. He hid behind his father’s back, and we shared a peal of laughter because of him. After a while, he looked at m

TASHA Rendall was quiet the whole time ever since Raiah, Griego, and Phoenix left. He didn’t say another word when we got back inside the main packhouse, which made me doubt if this will be the perfect time to break out the news to him or should I wait again for another day. “Did Ava talk to you?” he asked while he’s busy preparing something on the kitchen counter. I nodded my head in response even though he couldn’t see it before sitting at the edge of the dining table. “She told me that she’s leaving the pack,” I said. “I couldn’t imagine the amount of pain she had been feeling after her father passed away. She had to live her life without her mother, her brother has his own life with Raiah—she basically lost everyone.” He handed me a plate of salad as he snaked his arms around my waist. I wrapped mine on his neck in return. I looked him straight on his eyes and he became vulnerable in that exact moment. When I had to deal with the problem on my chest, Rendall did his very best

  • Mated to my Enemy    CHAPTER 58 - REMNANTS

RENDALL The war is over, but the remnants of its memories would never leave our mind. They used to say that the truth will set you free, but in our case, the truth made us lost a huge part of ourselves—including those people who are important for us. I placed the flowers I brought beside the tombs of three important persons in my life. I’m still not used in not seeing the three of them around the packhouse—I guess, I could never get used to it. “Hey,” a voice from behind me said. I turned around to see who it was, and I was astounded when I saw Ava holding two baskets of flower which she placed right beside mine. After the war has ended, I can say that between all of us, Ava was the one who changed a lot. She isolated herself—and didn’t talk to any of us. It seemed as though that the war has become a traumatic event for her, and I couldn’t blame her for that. She grew up with a memory of losing a loved one, now she had to endure the same predicament all over again. “I didn’t expec

TASHA "Sandalio," my mom's voice broke the lingering silence around us. "We meet again. I waited for this opportunity to come, where we would have another chance to see each other so I could destroy your life just like how you destroyed mine.” “You knew that it was never my intention to hurt you because if that’s the case, I would’ve given up on searching for you,” Sandalio said. “You were the one who wasn’t happy with what we had. You let those hearsays about me clouded your judgment! You were afraid to stand against the council no matter how hard I try to assure you that I will fight for you!” “Because they imposed a threat on my life, Sandalio! You were too busy with your responsibilities and obligations that you didn’t have the time to notice that I was carrying a huge weight on my shoulders! You were too busy that you didn’t notice that they’re doing everything in their power to make me drift away from you!” she exclaimed. “When I finally got the courage to tell you about every

TASHA I was left in complete shock after hearing the words uttered by Rhio. Before I could say anything about it, I was pushed to the ground when Rendall dashed to attack Rhio. Both of their faces darkened as they exchanged punches after punches. They shifted in their wolf form and I was left with no choice but to help myself stood back on my feet because I couldn't do anything to help Rendall. Somebody grabbed me by my arm and dragged me away from that spot. When that person removed the piece of clothing that was covering her face, I took two-folds step away from her. Her presence took me by suprise. "M-Mom?" She greeted me with my smile but my lips remained pursed as my brows furrowed thinking as to why she was here. Then a flash of memory filled my head. I couldn't believe that Raiah was right about her being a member of the Shadows. She doesn't share the same principles with the members of their pack but there's only one reason why she chose to be a part of it—to avenge my fa

We were running on our feet but a lot of the members of the pack shifted on their wolf form to hurriedly escape the place. Upon seeing how fast they fleed the area, I realized that I am being a burden to Ava. "Tasha!" Rendall's voice called me. I looked around and I saw him walking his way through the commotion and when he reached my place, Ava handed me to him. "I have to check on my brother and my father," Ava said.
