Selena dear, Penny’s voice echoed in Selena’s head, Raise your head.
Energy, will, strength, it had all left Selena’s body as she rested her head on her arms, still in a ball on her office chair. She took a slow, deep breath, hiccuping through it as she agonized over the events that occurred over the last two days.
“What happened Penny?” She whispered to herself, “Just yesterday morning the pack was fine…”
Penny didn’t respond, pondering herself what had caused the rapid, unfortunate series of events to occur.
Slowly, the silence thickened, sitting heavier in the room, allowing the distant sounds of the city to grow louder. A rhythmic pounding started, getting louder with pace.
Bloodlust! Penny’s voice hissed.
Selena looked up, anger washing over her. “It’s that bastard's fault!” She quickly rose from her seat.
The pounding grew louder and louder until it stopped right outside the door.
“What are you waiting for you mutt!” Selena shouted at the door.
With a blood freezing creak, the door slowly opened. The figure on the other side was larger than Samson and more muscular. He had his mothers wavy, black hair swept to the side and his fathers hazel eyes that pierced Selena’s heart. He had a handsome face with a deep scar going across his forehead and a twisted nose. He was wearing a black shirt with its sleeves rolled up and jeans as he smiled.
“What did you call me?” He smiled as he entered the room.
Selena took a slight step backwards. “Brother…” Selena murmured as she kept walking backwards.
“I-I didn’t mean you…” Selena defended herself, moving further and further back.
“Then who? Father? Anthony?” He moved towards her.
Suddenly, her heel hit the wall. She was against the window, having nowhere else to go but straight down. She danced with the idea of jumping out but realized that despite being able to heal quickly, she wouldn’t survive a fall like this.
“Did you know?” Her brother started as he crept closer, “Werewolves heal fast…” He maliciously smiled.

“What do you mean by that?” Samson asked.
The boy smiled as he spun on one foot. “I’ll tell you why I did that and how, but you have to promise me that you’ll help my sister.” He said cheerfully, stopping and staring at Samson’s eyes.
A wave of questions filled Samson’s mind. “Help your sister?” Samson echoed.
“Yep!” The boy responded cheerfully.
Samson wondered what he meant by that as he struggled to make the promise with the boy.
“OH!!” He shouted, startling Samson a bit, “I made you jump!” He laughed.
“We’re done here.” Samson growled as he pushed the boy to the side and moved past him.
“You like my sister right?” The boy said, stopping Samson.
“I can make you two be together more, but you have to promise me.” He said, slowly moving in front of Samson again.
Samson pondered the idea for a little bit. “How?” Samson asked.
The boy shrugged his shoulders and lowered the corners of his mouth and looked away. “I don’t remember, but a promise might help me.” He tried sounding smooth.
“I’ll only promise if you tell me what you mean by help.” Samson added.
The boy smiled. “Deal!” He stuck out his hand.
Hesitantly, Samson shook it.
“Ok, so, last night I heard you and sister fight, but I also knew you were strong, so I took the keys from Selena’s office and opened the lock after you fell asleep.” He explained.
Samson nodded. A silence overcame them as the boy stopped talking. For a few moments Samson waited, expecting the boy to collect his thoughts and continue. The few moments turned into long seconds that evolved into minutes of silence where the two stared at each other.
“That’s it?” Samson questioned.
“Yes!” The boy said cheerfully.
Suddenly Samson grabbed the boy by the collar of his tank top, lifting him off the ground and shaking him violently. “You want me to help that bonehead because you think I’m strong!!!” Samson roared.
“What kind of airhead frees a prisoner just because he thinks they're strong!!” Samson shook him even more violently, forgetting that he was supposed to be playing Lycan.
In a startling realization, he dropped the boy and turned around, clearing his throat, fearing the boy had discovered that he had been playing a character.
As if nothing had happened, the boy leapt to his feet. “But Selena needs your help!” He continued.
“You still haven’t told me why.” Samson resumed the character of Lycan.
Suddenly a distant thud echoed throughout the home. Samson turned to look at the boy whose eyes became clouded with worry and fear.
The stench of bloodlust hit Samson as he turned and sprinted up the stairs. He continued running until he stood at the entrance of Selena’s office. In an effortless kick he broke the door. Standing before him was a large man, breathing heavy over the sprawled body of Selena. On the window behind her was a large crack.
Skull, Samson thought.
Ready, Skull responded.
As Samson’s nails grew larger a spark zapped his skin from the silver bracelet, shrinking them back.
“You’re that trash Selena brought home!” The large man’s voice matched the one he had heard in the kitchen. “What are you doing out of the cage?”
Slowly Samson entered the room. Selena watched Samson moving closer as she pushed herself off the ground. This time it had only been a hard shove into the window, much more manageable than the last time he had attacked her.
“Lycan.” Samson said as he continued to walk forwards.
The man’s eyes widened. It was his turn to feel Samson’s bloodlust. As it hit him, a powerful adrenaline rush started coursing through his body. “Trash is trash, even if it has a name.” The man replied, eager to swing.
The two now stood face to face, breathing into each other as they glared at one another.
“You wanna go?” Samson asked.
The man studied Samson, noticing the silver bracelets and scoffing before pushing past him and walking out the room. “If you want to fight me then get rid of those first!” He said before leaving.
A few moments passed before Samson turned to look at Selena. “You alright?” He asked.
“What did I say about entering this room!!” She shouted at him.
She’s mad!?!?! Samson thought to himself.
“Follow me!” She said angrily.
“Looks like you do have a little bite in you.” Samson responded how Lycan would.
“Only for people who do things I specifically tell them not to!” She stormed out the room.
With a smile Samson followed her to the room next door, a large gym. “Why’re we here?” He asked.
“Remember what I told you before!” She smiled as she entered the ring.
The room was large and surprisingly spacious for being on the third floor, having a ceiling so tall it could fit a giant. The ring in the center was slightly larger than most boxing rings and had a tall net on each of its four sides. The floor of it was made out of hard sand with the center of the ring having a small engraving of the Golden Gate Bridge in it. The far wall had been replaced with floor to ceiling mirrors and the far left side of the gym had all the weights and machines while the right side had a punching bag and some benches to sit on. Overwhelmed by the size of the gym, Samson meandered his way forwards, eventually making it to the ring where Selena opened a netted door to let him in. Once inside, he was hit with the rancid smell of sweat and blood. Quickly, he covered his nose, noticing that it was hard to move on the hardened sand. As she closed the door, Selena studied Samson, How was someone so… average able to push back brother… Selena thought to herself. Ther
“Fine.” Selena agreed bitterly, admitting that Samson had a fair point. Slowly, she looked up and straightened her back, feeling the dull aching from the crash spread from her spine to the sides of her ribcage. Once she had finished stretching she looked forwards, getting a faceful of fingers and palm instead of the expected sight of the destroyed ring. Samson lowered his hand further. “Here.” he said as he extended more. Unsure of what to do, Selena continued to stare at his hand. She studied the green veins bulging from it and the blistered fingers on it. After waiting for a few moments Samson pushed her, “Well, are you going to take it or just keep staring at it?” Samson said annoyingly. Timidly, Selena touched his hand. Once she had made contact with his fingertips, Samson latched onto it and heaved her up. “AAH!” Selena shouted, the pull had sent a sharp pain through her spine, “Can’t you be more gentle!” Samson shrugged before making his way back towards the ring. As he
“Why him?!” Selena argued, “Why am I bringing the enemy with me to City hall?” Her father took a moment to think before closing the screen on his tablet. “With your older brother out today, there’s no one at home who can protect your mother and Anthony.” He reasoned. Anger swelled in Selena. “You’re acting like I’m as strong as him!” She yelled back. Her father closed his eyes. “You’re not, but should he cause a scene at City hall, will you be alone?” Her father explained. Selena clenched her teeth. As much as she hated the thought of taking him with her, he was right. At home he could run amok, especially if he truly let loose, that kind of strength could destroy not only their home but also the homes of humans living in the neighborhood whereas if he tried anything around city hall, there was no way he would live. “Fine!” She said as she made her way towards the basement. “Thank you!” her father shouted as she stormed down the old stairs, “I’ll leave the letter on the counter!
As Samson stepped out of the car, he lost his breath. “Wha…” He said inaudibly. Standing before them was a compact castle built in the center of downtown. It had a tall, cube-like building in the center with tall walls surrounding it a few feet away. Each corner of the wall had sharp, pointed towers, created to look like pine trees with small holes cut out for observing the public. The building itself morphed the taller it got, going from its cube-like base to having five tall cones pointed upwards with four of the cones being on each of the sides of the cube and the fifth cone being in the middle while being the tallest. On top of each of the cones was a statue. Even from below Samson could tell those statues were of past werewolves. “They’re of the founding fathers of the Golden Gate Alliance, Sir.” The driver said to Samson who continued to admire them. “You don’t say…” Samson murmured. “Come on, we don’t have time to stare at rocks!” Selena shouted at him, snapping Samson back
Samson admired the large and spacious room that was before him. It looked similar to a giant den with large, shiny white stones embedded into the ceiling lighting up the entire area like the sun. Just below the stones, hanging from the ceiling was a large clock that differentiated AM with a giant red half-circle and PM with a giant purple purple half-circle. Along the sides of the stone walls were giant steel doors, accented with gold and shiny, blue stone highlights. The middle of the floor they were one was open, revealing a bottom floor with a similar layout of doors being closed along the walls. In front of them was a large open staircase fashioned and chiseled out of the same stone the walls were made of, going down to that floor. To the right of where Samson, Selena and Castellan were standing was a desk with a woman busy calling different numbers and jotting down notes. Along the edge of the top floor were benches where werewolves sat and waited for one of the doors to open and
Now Samson scoffed, “You’re right about that.” He said as he closed his eyes. Selena studied the two. It felt strange for her, the pair were having a normal conversation despite what had happened between them. Her eyes drifted more towards Samson than Parker, intrigued more by how he could act like nothing had happened between them. How is he able to be this relaxed? How is he- How is he- THIS?!!? She screamed internally. He’s a creep, a bloodthirsty Alpha, a power hungry maniac, so how is he able to get Parker to smile like that? Selena shouted at Penny, a bit of uncomfortableness entering her body as she watched the two, completely in their own worlds now. It’s because they both understand… Penny answered. UNDERSTAND WHAT?!!? Selena roared. That anything can change, Penny quieted her down. What does that mean? It makes no sense at all, Selena protested causing Penny to got quiet. “All done.” Parker said as she turned to look at the pair, “Is there anything else you wanted to
“Get behind me.” Samson hissed at Selena, gently placing her on the ground. “I can figh-” She started. “NOW!!” Samson roared, there was a dangerous growl in his voice that kept Selena from responding. Clenching her teeth as hard as she could to keep herself from speaking, she slid behind him. Samson looked up. “Find your own prey, this one is mine!” Samson shouted. Behind him Selena looked at his back disgustingly as she realized she was the prey he was referring to. “No can do Lycan, bossman requires her to be dead.” Said a thug to the left. “Now then, if you don’t mind,” The lead thug sprinted forwards at an incredible speed, moving past Lycan and sliding behind Selena, “I’ll be doing the honors.” Unable to react in time, Selena watched from the corner of her eyes as the claws of the thug grew ever closer to her. A second before they touched her face they stopped, then a loud crunch filled the air. “AAAAGGGHH!!!” The thug roared in pain as his limp wrist dangled in front of
With a powerful pull, the girls grabbed Selena and Samson and dragged them to their car. After a short drive, they were at Westfield Centre, one of the most popular malls in San Francisco. “Alright, first things first we need to change that shirt of yours, plain white is so lame.” Said the bronze skinned girl. “Charlie, the shirt is bearable, but those black pants are UGH!” The blonde girl finished her sentence with an imaginary vomit. “Um… Sarah… I think he looks hot regardless, the blood really suits hot men…” The black haired girl zoned off into her own fantasy world and started drooling. “She has a point…” Sarah and Charlie said in unison, taking a good look at Samson once they had arrived in front of a clothing shop. “You three,” Haley said as she walked next to Samson, getting on her tiptoes and placing a hand on his shoulder, “He’s yours for the hour, do whatever you want with him.” Samson looked at Haley, then at Selena and the other girls before putting his Lycan mask
After a few minutes Selena was ready. She had put on a blue, long sleeve top, patterned with ridges and two buttons to expose more or less of her chest over a pair of light blue jeans. She looked at herself in the mirror, unsure of what the day was to hold for her. It’ll be alright dear, you’re not alone this time. Penny’s voice echoed in her head. A small smile crept onto Selena’s face at the thought of her words, relaxing her a little. I know, She replied before grabbing a small black satchel, pulling it over her head and leaving her room. Making sure to take her time, Selena slowly drifted down the stairs, hoping that Samson would be there, waiting for her. Once she reached the bottom floor, her heart sank as she saw no one but her mother in the large kitchen, reading from a magazine. Her heart started beating nervously, and her hands begged for something to fidget with. She took a shallow breath to calm herself and with her shaky legs, Selena slowly started moving towards her,
A slow tear-like headache woke Selena up. With a tight squint she let her eyes drift open, noticing she was still near the floor yet resting on something comfortable. Her eyes drifted down to notice a pair of legs below her head. A bloodchilling thought ran through her head, forcing her heart to roar to life, pounding rapidly and heavily as she turned her head slightly. The butterflies in her stomach had now multiplied and swarmed, hitting every possible wall and side. “Looks like you’re awake.” Samson’s voice came from above her head. With a jerk she sat up, bumping Samson’s head in the process. “GHA!” He reacted late, leaning backwards before rubbing his forehead as Selena sat up, facing away from him. “What was that for?!?!” He shouted, still rubbing his forehead. Selena refused to look at him. Her face felt like it was on fire, turning a shade of red she didn’t know it could as an awkward smile appeared on her face. “h-how long… was I sleeping for?” Her voice trailed into a wh
Selena smiled, overjoyed at the thought of becoming stronger. “But before that, what kind of ointment was in the med kit?” Samson asked, touching his ribs. “Ah that, it was something my father found, I don’t really know the name of it but I know it helps people heal quickly.” Selena responded cheerfully. Samson nodded, lowering his head. Selena watched as a serious expression grew on his face. A chill ran through her as she realized what he was doing. He’s not playing around like last time. She thought to herself. “The best way to learn is through experience, so I’m going to come at you for real.” He said, getting lower to the ground before sprinting towards her. With a small exhale, Selena assumed a boxing stance, keeping her hands open instead of in a tight fist. She watched him get closer, noticing he wasn’t doing anything out of the blue. Suddenly he pulled his right fist back. Adjusting to it, Selena shifted her weight to her left leg, bringing her arms out away from her b
When Samson got up it was late morning, but despite that he couldn’t hear any noise coming from upstairs. Slowly he moved out of his bed, the aching in his chest now spread over to his back and legs as he stood. He took a deep breath, attempting to confirm his injury only to find no pain being present. He rubbed the bandages to make sure he wasn’t dreaming before noticing a slight heaviness around his eyes. He moved his hands up and touched it, discovering remnants of tears that had been smudged away. “Unnecessary memories…” He whispered before making his way upstairs to an empty living room. There was no sign of neither of Selena’s parents nor her brothers. Keeping his eyes floating around the room, Samson drifted around the area, spotting a phone on the kitchen countertop. “Hello?” He said loudly, letting the word echo a little. After noting the absence of footsteps, movement and any other noise, Samson picked up the phone and dialed the only number he knew. “Samson!” Rumbled L
Kill me instead, let them go!!!! The phrase echoed in Samson’s head again. With a small groan he closed his eyes, regretting the fact that he had let go of the wolf in his head. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, hoping to fall asleep immediately. Hey! Make sure you stay together! Samson shouted as he rounded up the kids from that night near the edge of the, now destroyed, pack's territory, making sure there was a clear path behind them. Oh good, you’ve rounded them up, this’ll make it easier. Lola slowly appeared from the shadows behind him. Lola wait! Samson shouted. HEY! Israfel suddenly shouted, leaping out from behind the tree. You didn’t get rid of all of them?! Lola hissed at him. Samson walked up to Lola, his canines slowly growing. Are you questioning my work? He growled in her face. Watch your tone streetrat! Lola spat, Get him. I’ll make you a deal, Israphel started, my life for theirs, kill me instead, let them go! He shouted. He’s got an attitude, take hi
“Is here fine?” Haley asked as she pulled up in front of Selena’s mansion. “Mm… Yea.” Selena said groggily as she stepped out of the car. Samson closed his eyes and rested his head against the seat, preparing for the waves of pain about to hit. With a sharp breath, he opened the door and grabbed the side of the car. A burning throb shot through his chest, freezing his lungs as he attempted to pull himself out of the car. “GH!” He grunted as he slowly rose to his feet, still holding his side as the throb morphed into a powerful ache. With a quick step, Selena moved to his side, putting his arm over her shoulder, she slowly rose up, matching his pace. Once Samson was able to stand up, she looked at him with a slight V forming in her eyebrows and an upset look in her eyes. “You know you can ask for help.” She said with a slight pout. Having rested a bit in the car, his head was a bit clearer. He resumed the facade. “I’m not so weak that I need assistance yet.” He growled, stepping a
With a deafening screech the headlights stopped, becoming dim before turning off completely. Once off, the vehicle responsible for them became visible, it was a black sedan. Three of its doors flung open as Charlie, Annie, Sarah and Haley sprinted out, launching themselves at Selena. “You’re alive!!” Charlie cried as she wrapped her arms around her neck. “We thought it was all over!” Sarah wiped her tears on Selena’s shoulder. The three cried as they clung onto Selena, hugging her tight and showing no signs of letting go. Samson watched the scene unfold, closing his eyes with a small grin. He moved stiffly to the car and leaned against the hood, keeping his hand on his ribs. It’s not so bad being on this side of it… Samson thought. Silence filled his head as he continued to stare. Man… It’s times like these that I miss you, you old dog… Samson thought, wondering what Skull would say to him. He watched as the girls cried harder from afar, silently laughing to himself as Selena sl
When Selena had woken up again she no longer felt the weight on her shoulder. Groggily, she turned her head towards Samson and just made out his face. With a deep breath, she rubbed her eyes and stretched her back, hearing a satisfying pop as she straightened out. “How long have you been awake for?” She asked him. Samson stared blankly at the car in front of them, lost in his own thoughts. “Hey,” Selena pushed his shoulder gently, getting his attention, “How long have you been awake for?” Samson rested his head against the door of the van and looked upwards at the night sky, still full of stars. “A few minutes.” he responded. The butterflies in Selena’s stomach started swarming again as she stared at him. With a hard gulpe she started, “You… tied this around me didn’t you?” She asked, touching the makeshift wrapping. Wondering if he should respond like Lycan or himself, Samson looked down at her, staring into her eyes. “You were bleeding a lot,” Samson started, too exhausted to
It was late at night when Selena regained her consciousness. Her eyes slowly lifted open. Her head rested against the cold door of the van she had slumped against. She took short shallow breaths remembering what had happened. The giant black wolf had attacked her, heckling and shouting at her before biting into her shoulder and slashing her chest. She remembered how she had found her way behind the car while it had been hunting her, then everything had gone black. Exhausted and accustomed to the procedure, she slowly brought her right arm around and felt the bite marks around her shoulder. Nothing was there, rather something that wasn’t supposed to be there was present. She used her fingers to navigate the area, feeling and attempting to figure out the foreign object there before realizing it was a piece of cloth. Now that she gave it her attention she could feel it wrapping around her body, another similar piece was wrapped around her chest. Selena furrowed her eyebrows in a V, un
