Chapter 4It was finally Friday evening, the evening Skylar has been looking forward to all week. He’s played how things would go in his head over and over, in different scenarios. He was currently standing in the mirror trying to figure out what colored shirt he’d wear.“You should do that black shirt, Sky. It’d look better than that green one.”Skylar whipped around to see Nadia in the door way, smiling.Skylar chuckled a bit.“You don’t like my green button up?”“It’s a nice shade of green but I’d go with the black.”Skylar smiled, taking the shirt off the hanger and shrugging it on.“See, so much better.” Nadi
Chapter 5It’s been three days since their date. Skylar was absolutely keen on seeing her again and Cheyenne seemed to want the same thing. It was a Saturday noon and Skylar was babysitting while Nadia and Chaskai were out.“Uncle Sky, who are you talking to?” A little red headed child asked, hopping into Skylar’s lap.“You’re future Aunty.” Skylar smiled finishing up the text and sending it.The child beamed as her older brother who had the hair color of his father instead tilted his head.“Future Aunty? Who is she?” He asked.“She is a beautiful woman. And I bet you both a nickel you’ll like her.”“You went on one date with her.” The boy said.
Chapter 6It was loud, obnoxiously loud. The lights were all different colors flying across the room in their laser beam state and the crowd was over joyed with the ear numbing music.Cheyenne had come to the club with her friend Melisa. Melisa was definitely a party goer and Cheyenne enjoyed a party every now and again. They both were dancing and grinding against each other as best friends would to the beat of the music.Later, they split off. Melisa went to get a drink and Cheyenne went to the bathroom. When she came out, she nearly ran into a tall drunken flirt.“Hey there, sweet cheeks. You trying to come home with a real man tonight?” He slurred getting too close for comfort.Cheyenne scrunched her fa
Chapter 7“Did you still want to go home?”They’d been standing in the woods for what seemed like hours, Cheyenne still in his embrace.Cheyenne, of course didn’t know where she wanted to go or what she wanted to do.“I can take you home.” Skylar’s voice sounded again.Cheyenne still didn’t respond.Should she go home? She thought about leaving Skylar and imagined her having yet another panic attack on her bathroom floor.Something about Skylar made the panic cease. His presence made everything seem like it’d be okay. She feared if she left his presence, she’d just die.“Cheyenne?”“No.”It was quiet again. She had lost her mind. She’s going against all her morals and common freakin sense.“What do you want to do then?”Cheyenne sighed and pu
Chapter 8His.It sounded too real for her. The last time she belonged to someone, she was traumatized. But the last time she belonged to someone, she hadn’t had a choice.Skylar made it clear more than once that he wouldn’t hurt her and she believed it. If he wanted to hurt her he definitely would have done it by now and she wouldn’t be able to fight him off.“Cheyenne, I know it’s only been a little while but you’re my world. I promised I wouldn’t hurt you. Now I’m promising I won’t let anyone else hurt you.”“How? By killing them? I couldn’t ask you to just flat out kill someone simply because they hurt my feelings.” She frowned.“You wouldn’t have to ask me.” Skylar frowned back.
Chapter 9Two hours had flown by as Skylar and Cheyenne continued to talk and it was time for her to go to work.As Skylar drove out of the woods and turned onto the back roads, he frowned coming to a realization that Cheyenne hadn’t eaten.“You didn’t eat.”“I’ll pick something up on break.”“What time is that?”Cheyenne thought.“Maybe like nine or ten.”“You’re going to go two to three hours without food? With only this mornings breakfast on your stomach?”“Sky, I’ll be find.”Skylar frowned at her and continued to drive.“We will stop somewhere.”“Skylar—!”“No, we’re stopping somewhere, you’re going to eat and you will go to work.”It was quiet.“Where do y
Chapter 10Skylar has finally managed to calm Cheyenne down. She was sitting against the wall, puffy, red eyed and chapped lipped while Skylar was soothing her a bit more.“Tell me what happened. Can you do that?” Skylar asked as calmly as he could as he fought down his wolf.He rubbed her hand a little more, trying to comfort her, not wanting to get to close and sending her into another panic attack.Cheyenne looked so fearful and paranoid but never pulled her hand away from his.She was quiet, didn’t say anything and looked like she was in a state of shock.Skylar knew she probably wouldn’t talk anytime soon and came to terms with it. All he could do was get her home safely.Skylar slowly made his move towards her to help her stand. Cheyenne flinched but didn’t protest, following Skylar’s lead out to his car.He buckled her in and realized she had
Chapter 11Skylar was sitting in the beanbag chair across the room from Cheyenne. He knew that she’d probably freak out if she woke up with him next to her.He was falling asleep but didn’t want to miss any cries for help in the middle of the night. He knew Cheyenne was damaged, he just didn’t know how deep the scars ran. She’s been broken and this Oliver guy definitely was the one that did it.That was a fact. One thing for sure is if Skylar hadn’t made a promise to Cheyenne, he’d be hunting the bastard down.Cheyenne’s eyes fluttered open as the sun rays bled through the ash gray curtains. She sat up in the queen size bed, noticing she was the only one in it.Looking
Prologue He stared out the window of the run down motel he’s been hiding in for about a year. The glass of whiskey in his hand sparkled against the dull sun as he took a sip, basking in its dry sweetness. &nb
I am extremely excited to present a finished book to all my supporters. For a while I didn't know if I would finish it. Through the ups and downs and bursts of inspiration as well as the writers block, finishing this book seemed impossible. Writing is my passion and I truly believe that it is something I am good at and something I can get better at. Because of this as well as the constant support system of my family and my readers, I came up with a captivating storyline and wanted to share it.I am aslo excited to soon be presenting you with a sequel to this story, now that I know where I would like this story's path to go. The sequel is a work in progress and will answer all the remaining questions I have left you with in this first book.Again, thank you all for your support and I hope to see you again in Mated Two.
Chapter 37Cheyenne paced the floors of Skylar’s room as he packed their things together neatly in separate suitcases.“It sucks we never decided who was gonna get what room...”Skylar said, trying to lighten her mood.Cheyenne continued to pace, biting the nail of her thumb. Skylar spared her a glance and furrowed his eyebrows in worry. She’s been like that since they’ve been home. They were leaving as soon as everyone finished packing. Skylar had to make sure they didn’t leave anything behind.Cheyenne wasn’t making it easy for him since he was too busy worrying about her than packing any bags up.He stood in front of her and gripped her shoulders, shaking her a bit.“Snap out of it, Princess! Nothing is going to happen to
Chapter 36“Come on, Cheyenne or we’re gonna leave you!” Aaron called from the bottom of the steps.“I’m coming!” She yelled back, grabbing a black jacket out of the closet and headed out the room door, shutting it.Cheyenne made her way down the steps in light washed jeans and a red body suit that came off one shoulder and black booties with a slight heel.“What do you think? Too casual?”Aaron raised his eyebrow, looking her up and down.“You won’t draw attention. It’s fine. Nadia on the other hand, might.”Cheyenne smiled and continued down the rest of the stairs as Aaron opened the door for her.“Is everyone already in the car?”
Chapter 35After watching her mate shift with her soon to be Alpha and run off into the dense forests, Cheyenne shut the curtains. She decided she would clean up their room and do some laundry while Skylar was gone. She threw any stray pieces of clothing into the white basket she held at her hip. She made the bed and cleaned off the night stands on either side of the bed. She even cleaned their bathroom.Cheyenne picked the dirty laundry basket up from the corner she sat it in and left the room to head to the laundry room, where she saw Nadia.“Hey, Nadia. Are you finishing or starting?”
Chapter 34Skylar held Cheyenne’s naked body close to his as he inhaled her intoxicating scent. After they had made love for what seemed like the third time that night, she had grown tired but not tired enough to fall asleep.Instead, she spent their time together asking questions about mating, werewolves, and anything she happened to be confused on.“So let me get this straight. I have to die or be dying for you to want to bite me.”Skylar chuckled.“I always want to bite you, Princess.”“You know what I mean.” Cheyenne playfully rolled her eyes.“The bite that makes you go through the Alter is la
Chapter 33“It was the same things! Control emotions this and don’t get so angry that! Dad, I already know all that stuff! I want to learn how to fight!” Cam yelled from the back seat.“Cam, I know but you have to get all of your mental and emotional training done before you can physically train.” Chaskai said from the drivers seat.“We all had to go through the same thing you do, Cameron. Any day now you’ll be fighting.” Aaron said, who was next to Chaskai.Cheyenne simply sat and listened as she looked out the window.“That’s not fair! Uncle Sky’s mate is learning to fight without even being Altered!”
Chapter 32As Cheyenne slept in the passenger seat of the car, Skylar replayed their day in his head while maintaining enough focus on the roads to get them home safely. He couldn’t help but smile at even the little things she said or did that showed her growth from when he first met her.She used to be this timid little thing that flinched at his every move, minus the time he shifted in front of her. Sure, she was stunned but she didn’t run for the hill like he thought she would. But from then, she seemed to open up, even if a little bit to him. He thought of their night of bliss just last night. The feel of her soft, melanated skin against his made him itch to touch her again. He focused on her and the steady rise of her chest with each intake of air and the steady heart beat keeping her blood evenly spread throug
Chapter 31Cheyenne stared at the photo, horrified.“What are you asking me?” Cheyenne asked, voice wavering a bit.“You seem uncomfortable, Ms. Rozen. I only want to know what happened to him.”“How the hell am I supposed to know? Last time I saw him, he was attacking me while I was trying to get some snacks!”Detective Otis tilted his head.“Yes. I remember seeing that in the security camera. What I want to know is who the woman was that assaulted this man. I know you know her. She carried you into her car and drove off.”“You’re worried about why she stood up for me instead of why this man attacked me in the first place?”Detective Otis rubbed his chin and sighed.
