VIMON'S POV

Someone, I can't remember who had once told me that anger gives super human strength and

whoever it was, they had been right. I tore through the woods almost at a run, cutting through

the dense undergrowth that had hindered my progress so much yesterday and earlier today like

it was nothing. I was walking so fast that Theo weighed down with his heavy luggage, of his

pack and my tote was lagging far behind.

" Slow down." He called as he hurried to catch up with me.

" At this rate, you're going to pull your knee out of joint, keel over and be unable to walk

tomorrow."

" Don't worry," I assured him without looking back at him when all I really wanted was to turn and

slap him across the face before reading him the riot act. But I walked on, with the plan I had

come up with before I woke him up, he would suffer a fate worse than my scorn.

I walked on seething with so much anger I could barely see straight, if the double crossing

bastard hadn't been behind me to r

THEO'S POVIf anyone told me that I would ever be this scared of Vimon, I would have scoffed and laughed in their faces, but yet here I was literally quaking in my boots as she set the bags she took from my shoulders at the base of the nearest tree and began to walk around me in slow circles, I tried my best not to let it show though. For all I knew this could be an elaborate prank or ruse to test my loyalty or something, but even as those thoughts ran through my mind I knew I was only deluding myself, Vimon wasn't one for pranks, she hated them and she wasn't about to change her mind and feelings all of a sudden, after all, an old dog couldn't learn new tricks. And besides the cold and steely look in her eyes was all I needed to know that she definitely wasn't joking. Something I had done or said had tipped her off and given me away, and right now I was as good as dead. I knew this, but that didn't mean I was just going to stand there and accept my fate with open hands." Vimon? What

VIMON'S POVWhen I woke up the next morning, I was cold and shivering from having slept on the bare ground, but even then I still didn't get up, I lay there until the sun came up before finally dragging myself to a sitting position and crawling on all fours to where I had left the bags the previous night. Looking through Theo's pack, I transferred all the fruits and other edibles to my tote, then I emptied the pack and tossed the contents along with the pack itself as far into the woods as I could, making sure to toss them in directions, then I lumbered to my feet and began the tedious journey out of the woods. It was time to go back home, I had achieved what I came for after all.BACK IN THE PALACE DAGNA'S POVI sat on the bed with my palm supporting my jaw and watched Aegon pacing up and down the room as he kept trying (and kept failing I might as well add) to mind link with Theo. I was almost as anxious as Aegon was to hear Theo's report, but not because I cared two bits about his

VIMON'S POVTen hours later,I was back in the same position, scowling at my reflection in the mirror." When did you become such a bleeding heart?" I demanded." What happened to the Vimon who was ready to do anything and everything to get what she wanted, and everyone else be damned?"Although my reflection couldn't give me any answers, my subconscious could and did just that. That Vimon was still in the woods mourning Theo's death and whether or not she would ever come back into this body was still a mystery. The woman sitting in front of the reflection wasn't anything like that Vimon, she was unable to bear the thought of causing anyone pain with her words and actions. My actions earlier today were all the confirmation anyone needed. I had spent a restless night of not more than an hour of sleep because anytime I closed her eyes, she fell into a dream where I saw nothing but the look of abject terror on Theo's face when I left him to the fayronas, getting out of bed at first light

AEGON'S POV" What's wrong with her?" I questioned myself as I walked down the hallway, stopping in front of Ingrid's door for a minute to listen to little Theo's gargling and smile as I went in search of his older namesake.I honestly couldn't understand why Dagna was making a big deal out of Nico's release, or why she even cared. As soon as mother suggested it, I had realized its merits.Yes, on the surface everyone would see that he had tried to hurt me and my family unprovoked, but he wasn't an evil man, just an angry and frustrated man, venting and seeking an outlet for his feelings.(Which were well justified)What sort of alpha would I be if I continued to hold a grudge against him especially after realizing that we were family." She's just angry for my sake, she wants someone to pay for hurting me. But she'll get over it and come around to my way of thinking pretty soon." I told myself as I headed for Theo's quarters, all thoughts of Dagna flying out of my mind when I discovere

VIMON'S POVLater that evening while sitting across from each other at the dining table waiting for the kids to join us, I watched Kane who was smoking one of those thick cigars he got from the human world and tapped my foot reflectively. He's a good man. I told myself.A little lily livered but still a good man, even though he had his misgivings about me being who I claimed to be, he hadn't said a word even when the fayronas' charms wore off. I'm going to try my best to be a better wife to him from now on. I decided and actually felt a glow of joy at that decision.Chester's little slut of a daughter chose that moment to put a damper on my joy by walking in on my son's arm in a dress that had almost the same amount of fabrics as little Theo's clothes." You look a little pale ma'am." She said to me by way of greeting as soon as she was seated." Are you sure you wouldn't rather lie down for a few minutes?" She asked, accompanying her words with a cloyingly sweet smile.I didn't rise

AEGON'S POV I was in my study the next day when Ingrid knocked, I didn't know how I knew it was Ingrid, I just did. It had always been that way right from when we were kids, I could always tell when she was close by, I guess it was a by-product of being her mate, even after I had rejected her." Just come in already and don't break down my door," I growled through the door at her. "What do you want?" I demanded as soon as she stepped in." I'm sorry to bother you?" She apologized." But I was wondering if you knew where Theo was?" She asked.I glared at her for a few minutes before giving her a reply." If you intend to monitor him , why did you let my parents take him then?" I asked." Are you really so selfish that you don't want to share your son with his grandparents?"She was also silent for a while and when she finally spoke, she didn't answer any of my questions." I wasn't looking for little Theo, I was talking about the older Theo -the soldier." She said," Why?" I demanded.

THIRD PERSON'S POV WALLY" The bastard."" The stupid idiotic little twat of a bastard," Wally sat on the couch in his living room cursing Nico in absentia before raising the bottle of mead in hands to his lips and taking a healthy swig. Three more swigs later the bottle was empty and he let it clatter to the floor where three more empty bottles were already holding court."Dagna!!!!!" He bellowed even before the latest bottle hit the floor. " Yes father!!!!!" She bellowed back from her room upstairs. "More mead." He called to her.A Babb couple of minutes later, she came in with two bottles of mead and set them on the small ottoman beside him."Father," she said as she set them down." It's not even noon yet, don't you think you've had enough to drink already?" She asked. He slowly raised his head to look at her and she unconsciously took a step back at the sight of his bloodshot eyes." Don't I think I've had enough to drink?" He repeated her question." WALLY'S POVSo that was how my morning went, after all the trouble I went through the stupid bitch's cur had the audacity to tell me he was no longer interested in that life and render all the plans j I had already made null and void. Then he had the effrontery to shut the door to that hovel in my face; summarily dismissing me like I was some sort of stinking beggarI had no idea how I had gotten back home, but I must have gotten back on my horse and ridden back just as hard as when I had ridden out, because the next thing I knew I was grabbing a bottle of mead from my pantry and stalking into my living room to park myself on the couch. And now my own daughter had the chutzpah to question me, after she had returned home in failure with her tail between her legs like a mother boar who had failed to bring a kill for her young. But I had dealt with her, yes! Next time she would stop and analyze her words before asking me questions." Dagna and Nico" I murmured softly between sips of mead

The Venomous SeductionKane's pov Later That NightI found myself standing outside Ingrid’s chamber, the dim light from the lantern casting a soft glow across the corridor. I didn’t knock. I just waited. The door creaked open slowly. She stood there, wrapped in a blanket, her hair unbound, eyes red-rimmed but determined.“I’m not leaving,” she said before I could speak.I smiled faintly. “I wasn’t going to ask you to.”She stepped aside and let me in.The room smelled like parchment and lavender. It was tidy, but I could see the signs of restlessness—books with folded corners, a chair not pushed in, a dagger half-hidden under her pillow.“I came to apologize,” I said. She blinked. “For what?”“For not believing you sooner. For not protecting you the way I should have.”Ingrid’s voice was quieter now. “You had your pack to think of.”“You are my pack,” I said simply. “And so is that son of mine who can’t decide whether to kill you or kiss you.”Her lips twitched. A smile she tried to

Haunted by Her Silence“I ran,” she whispered. “I don’t know why I went out there. I needed space. I needed air. But I walked right into him. He didn’t say anything. He just attacked.”I had to grip the edge of a stone bench to stop myself from exploding. “And you didn’t think to tell anyone before going off alone?”She whirled around. “Don’t you dare blame me! I’ve been alone since the day I was rejected!”The air between us crackled.“I’m not blaming you,” I said more gently. “I’m furious at myself for letting it get this far.”A silence fell, heavier than before.“I thought I was over it,” she said, barely audible. “The rejection. The pain. But I was wrong. And when you held me earlier…” She shook her head. “I hated how much I wanted to stay there.”I took a step forward, heart pounding. “Then stay.”She laughed bitterly. “You think it’s that simple? After everything? After you humiliated me in front of the entire pack?”“I don’t expect forgiveness. But I want to make it right.”Sh

Our pastVimon’s POV I stood by the towering windows of the council chamber, my hands clasped behind my back as the late afternoon sun filtered in through the stained glass. The light fractured in hues of crimson and gold across the floor, but even its warmth couldn’t melt the growing ice in my gut.Something was wrong. Very wrong.Kane had mentioned it in passing a tremor in Ingrid’s voice when she returned, a haunted look that hadn’t been there before. She’d slipped away from the house without alerting anyone, something she hadn’t done since the darker days of her youth. And when she returned… it was in Aegon’s arms.I turned from the window, pacing the smooth marble floor, my boots echoing slightly in the silence. Aegon, my son, had always been a creature of control, sharp edges, and suppressed fire. But what Kane described didn’t align with the man I knew. He didn’t just hold her he grounded her, calmed her.As if he had finally seen her. Not the Omega, not the orphaned girl who

the ashes between usIngrid’s POVI didn’t remember running. One moment, I was staring into those eyes cold, distant, unrecognizable despite how close they were. The next, I was tearing through the trees, branches clawing at my arms like angry hands trying to hold me back. My lungs burned, my legs screamed, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t.Not until I saw the tall, shadowed walls of the pack house again. Not until the darkness seemed less terrifying than the man with the scarred hand and eyes I swore I’d seen before. And then… Aegon. He was there before the guards. Before the questions. Before the confusion. His arms wrapped around me before my mind could protest. And I didn’t fight him. Not because I had forgiven him. Not because I trusted him.But because for one horrifying second, I needed him.I needed the steadiness of his presence—the way his chest rose and fell against mine, grounding me. The way his scent, once familiar and cruel, now served as a strange comfort in my trembling s

The masked man The Intruder’s POVThe night air clung to me like a second skin, thick with the scent of damp earth and aged wood. I crouched in the shadows, my breath slow and measured, listening. The packhouse was alive with hushed whispers and distant footfalls, searching, always searching. They knew someone had been here, but they had no idea who… or why.I ran my fingers over the edge of the pouch strapped to my belt, the weight of the jewel pressing against my palm. The Jewel of Light. A treasure coveted by many, a relic of power beyond mortal understanding. And now, it was mine.I heard A sound,a rustle too precise to be the wind that made me pause. My instincts screamed at me to move, but curiosity kept me anchored. Someone was close, too close. I shifted into the recesses of the library’s towering shelves, the scent of aged parchment masking my own. Then, she appeared.Ingrid.Her fiery hair caught the flickering candlelight, turning her into something almost ethereal. She mo

The attack Ingrid's POVMy heart pounded like a war drum against my ribs as I stumbled back into the pack house, my breath coming in short, frantic gasps. My hands trembled as I held my side, the sting of the intruder’s attack still fresh on my skin. The darkness outside had been suffocating, the atmosphere stretching and twisting like unseen hands reaching for me.I barely registered the gasps around me as I burst into the entrance hall, my vision blurred with fear and fatigue. My only thought was, I wasn’t safe. He was out there. Still watching. Then, warm hands gripped my arms, steadying me.Aegon.I would have recoiled, pushed him away, but I couldn’t. My body betrayed me, sinking into his arms as if he was the only solid thing left in this spinning world. His scent, a mixture of cedarwood and something distinctly him, surrounded me. Strong. Familiar. Safe. His golden eyes scanned my face, narrowing with an intensity that sent a shiver through me. “What the hell happened to you?”

Plans in motion Nico's POVThe moment I stepped into the throne room, the air was thick with tension like moments before a storm came. Kane and Vimon sat rigidly, their expressions carved out of a rock. Ingrid was seated between them, her hands clenched tightly on her lap. And then there was Aegon, pacing, his golden eyes dark with unspoken anger.I had seen my Alpha angry before many times, in fact. But this ........… this was something else. This was frustration mixed with confusion, a man torn between his pride and something deeper he refused to accept. “Aegon,” I called, my voice low but firm. He stopped mid-step, his gaze snapping to me like a predator sighting its prey.“What?” he barked, his tone sharp was enough to cut steel.I exhaled slowly, reminding myself that this was my friend, not just my Alpha. “I came to give you an update on the search for the intruder.”His expression flickered for a second before hardening again. He folded his arms over his chest. “And?”I too

Whispers of DeceptionIngrid’s POVAegon’s golden eyes burned into me, demanding answers I wasn’t sure I had. His presence had always been overwhelming, a force of nature that never left anything untouched in its wake. But tonight, it felt different—like a storm barely held in check. There was a dangerous stillness to him, as though he were moments away from either lashing out or shattering apart.I had spent years trying to erase the imprint he left on my soul. I had failed. But now was not the time for old wounds.“The Jewel of Light wasn’t the only thing stolen tonight,” I said, my voice steady despite the swirling unease in my gut. “Something else is happening within these walls.”Aegon crossed his arms, the tension in his shoulders barely concealed. “You have a theory?”“I have instincts,” I corrected. “And they’re telling me this isn’t just about power or wealth. It’s about control.”His jaw ticked, but he didn’t interrupt. That was something.I took a slow step forward, loweri

Pain of BetrayalAegon’s POVI stood at the highest tower of the Blood Moon Pack’s stronghold, staring down at the dark forest below. The wind carried the scent of damp earth and old blood, a reminder of the wars fought on these lands.Tonight, something was different. Something was wrong.I should have been with my father. Kane had been injured, and though he downplayed it, I knew a silver wound was nothing to ignore. But I had left him in Vimon’s care. My mother knew how to deal with wounds. I, on the other hand, had something else to deal withand it's a matter of emergency.Betrayal.The Jewel of Light was gone. An intruder had stepped into my home, walked through my halls, and disappeared without a trace. That alone was an insult I couldn’t forgive. But what disturbed me more was the whisper of doubt curling around my thoughts. The timing was too perfect.Immediately Ingrid had returned back to the pack. And the jewel had vanished. There has got to be an inside man.I wanted to be
