Lynx froze upon hearing the voice of the figure, his hand hanging in the air. Two guards were standing beside the figure with neutral expressions on their faces.
The figure looked at Lynx. "What do you think you are doing, Lynx?" he asked, his voice calm but firm.
The unexpected appearance of the man broke the tension in the hall, and everybody turned to look at him. He was tall and commanding, and his eyes were filled with rage.
Lynx went blank as the man asked him the question. He put down his hand, his heart racing in his chest. He turned to face the man, and he was shocked. He wasn't expecting him at all.
"I am looking for the person who tried to poison my Luna," Lynx managed to speak.
The commanding man is Uncle Toni, Lynx's uncle. He walked to Isabella, who was lying down helplessly on the floor, and gently helped her to stand up. He looked at her with concern. "Are you alright?" he asked in a gentle tone.
Isabella nodded while still shaking. Uncle Toni turned to Lynx with a changed expression on his face. "Do you realize how hurtful your actions are to this young lady?" he said with a sharp voice.
Lynx hesitated for a minute, his heart still pounding in his chest. He moved forward and hugged his uncle. "What an unexpected visit, uncle," he said, his voice breaking.
Uncle Toni held him close and patted him gently on the back. "It's alright," he said. "I just decided to pay you a surprise visit because it's been a long time since I saw you."
"Lynx, you have to be more careful and learn to control yourself, okay? You don't have to let them hate you. As the Alpha, their well-being should be your responsibility because they are like family to you, and you have to treat them as such," Uncle Toni said.
"Lynx, I can see that you are trying to solve an issue right now, but I need to talk to you about a very important matter," Uncle Toni said, his voice very serious.
Lynx hesitated for a second; he didn't want to leave the ongoing matter unsettled. However, he knew he had to attend to his uncle because Uncle Toni would not back down. He then nodded, albeit with a confused face.
Lynx led the way to his office, and Uncle Toni followed him. Different thoughts were running through Lynx's mind. What could be so important that his uncle suddenly paid him an unexpected visit?
"Everybody, go back to your duties," Lynx ordered. "I will come back to settle this matter once I'm done talking with my uncle."
Everybody left the hall, their footsteps echoing down the corridor.
Lynx and Uncle Toni locked eyes in Lynx's office. "I still don't understand why someone would try to kill your Luna," Uncle Toni began, breaking the awkward silence.
"I'm as confused as you are. That's why I am desperate to find the person," Lynx tried to explain, his words spilling out very fast. "All of them refused to speak up, that's why I got frustrated, and I lost control of myself."
Uncle Toni listened carefully to Lynx, and he let out a deep breath when Lynx finished talking. "I understand your plight, but you should not let your emotions get the better of you in every situation you find yourself. It's not acceptable to hit a woman like that," Uncle Toni tried to explain.
"Moreover, why don't you inform your family that you have found your mate? You know everyone of us will be happy for you, so why did you keep it a secret?" Uncle Toni asked.
"Uncle Toni, it's my life," Lynx replied, his voice firm. "I don't want anybody putting their mouth in my business. I'm old enough to make my decisions and I can decide what I want for myself."
Uncle Toni raised his eyebrows. "Hmmm…well, of course, you are right, but your family loves you very much, and everybody wishes you well and wants the best for you. You know every one of us will be willing to help, especially in situations like this," Uncle Toni replied.
Lynx let out a sigh, "Yes, I know, but I just want some space to figure out myself. I hope you understand me, Uncle," Lynx said.
"Yes, I can understand you," Uncle Toni replied, nodding his head.
"Lynx, I know this is a trying time for you and your Luna, but I want you to hear me out," Uncle Toni said urgently. "There is something that you need to realize."
Lynx's impatience was clear, "I'm sorry, Uncle, we need to talk about whatever we want to talk about. I need to go and check on my wife and be sure that the baby is still safe because she is pregnant already," Lynx said.
Uncle Toni's eyes widened in shock when he heard what Lynx had said. "Do you really mean that your wife is pregnant?" Uncle Toni asked, his voice full of surprise.
Lynx nodded with a faint smile on his lips. "Yes, we just found out recently that she is pregnant. I'm happy about that, and I pray that the moon goddess gives me a male child, but then…" his voice trailed off, the reality of what had happened earlier striking once again.
Uncle Toni stood up from where he was sitting, pacing back and forth, full of different thoughts. He was clearly disturbed about what he had just heard. "Lynx, I'm so sorry, that's why I am here," he said. "I should have seen the signs if I had paid more attention."
"Uncle, what are you talking about?" Lynx asked, his voice full of worry this time. "What signs?" he asked again.
Uncle Toni faced Lynx, looking troubled. "There were things that have been out of place," he said.
"Listen Lynx, some years ago, you were cursed by the moon goddess," Uncle Toni began, his voice filled with regret. "The moon goddess took away your ability to have an heir, which means you cannot reproduce."
Lynx's eyes widened in shock. "What!" he lamented, his voice barely above a whisper. "How can that be possible, Uncle?"
"I know it's hard to believe, but the curse was due to the atrocity that you committed in the past," Uncle Toni said, his voice full of sadness.
Lynx stood there speechless. He never thought that something like that would ever be possible. He had heard many stories about cursed Alphas, and here he is, a cursed Alpha.
He had always thought of himself highly, as a magnificent Alpha, not someone who could be the target of a curse.
"I can't understand, uncle," he said, his voice shaking. "Why would I be the target of a curse? Why would the moon goddess do that? What did I do to deserve a curse?" Lynx asked questions upon questions.
Uncle Toni let out a heavy sigh and looked down at his feet, his shoulders dropping. "It has already happened, and now we have to deal with the consequences," he said.As Lynx stood there, shocked by what his uncle had just revealed to him, Uncle Toni spoke again, "Lynx, there is something else you need to realize," he said, his voice calm and firm. "The child that your Luna is carrying is definitely not yours."Lynx felt as though the ground had opened beneath him, all that he had wished for was about to slip away. "What!" he lamented, his voice hoarse. "What do you mean, Uncle?"Uncle Toni took a deep breath, his eyes filled with sympathy for Lynx. "I'm so sorry to inform you about this, but it's the bitter truth, and I think you should know before it's too late. That's why I traveled all the way down here," Uncle Toni said.Lynx's anger surged, his hands clenched into fists. "This can never be possible. I am Vanessa's first, and Vanessa has always been indoors ever since she came h
Vanessa slowly lifted her feet, shocked, her eyes wide. She staggered and quickly moved to Alexander, staying behind him with her hands over her mouth. She didn't expect Alexander to tell Lynx the truth. She looked like she was about to faint and leaned on Alexander for support.Lynx's heart pounded in his chest, and it looked like he was finding it hard to breathe. He looked deeply into Alexander's eyes, who stood elegantly and proud."This can never be true," Lynx said, his voice low but audible. "How can you be the father of the baby when you've not even met her before?" Lynx questioned.Alexander took a step closer to Lynx, his expression softening. "I know it's hard to believe, but that's the truth. Vanessa is my mate too, and I will always be there for her and protect her," Alexander said.Vanessa was surprised that Alexander didn't tell her about being his mate. She wondered if since Lynx had already marked her, he didn't want to bother again.Suddenly, Lynx remembered the way
Elliott stepped forward, protecting others from Edward's gaze. "Don't you dare attack us, don't even think of it," Elliott said firmly.Edward smirked, his crooked teeth partially visible. "Mister, you should be aware that prison break is an unforgivable and punishable offence, and I will make sure that you receive that punishment in multiple folds," he said through his crooked smile.Edward's voice reverberated through the dungeon, his eyes glowing.Vanessa held onto Alexander who was on the verge of loosing consciousness. She knew that it was of no use to beg Edward. He was Lynx's most trusted confidant and would never betray Lynx. Fear gripped her as she wondered what would happen if Lynx found out that they were trying to escape from the dungeon. Of course, Lynx won't let it slide, it will only heighten his resolve to kill them.Vanessa turned to Elliott, "We are trapped again, this might be the end of us," she said, her voice jittery."It's okay, we will get through this and get
Lynx hurriedly moved to the dungeon, hoping to nab Vanessa and Alexander. However, upon reaching the cell, he didn't see any of them. He wondered how they got past the barrier surrounding the cell. The barrier wasn't something anyone could easily break.Vanessa and Alexander had already escaped from the dungeon. Elliott was the only person Lynx could see, he had fought with Edward and was breathing heavily as he had little energy left within him."Where are the rest," Lynx asked Edward."Pardon me, Alpha, I was unable to hold them back, but I am very sure that they will still be within close range," Edward replied.Lynx could not blame Edward, he knew he must have tried his best to capture them."Should I finish him?" Edward asked, pointing to Elliott."No, not yet, lock him up, he could be useful," Lynx replied. "The rest of the guards should come with me," he said.Lynx knew that it was definitely not Vanessa that broke the barrier, it can only be one person – Alexander. "I have to
By the time Alexander and Vanessa got to the white phoenix pack, night had fallen already. Alexander was very weak and barely conscious. Vanessa pulled over infront of the mansion. The guards outside gave her a weird look as she stepped out of the car. She opened the other door of the car and helped Alexander out, when the guards saw their Alpha, they quickly walked over to him. "Alpha," the guards said in unison, and bowed. They didn't bother to ask any questions, instead they helped him.Vanessa walked behind them. They entered the mansion and the mansion was quite different to Lynx's mansion, it was twice as big as Lynx's mansion. The interior was majestic with magnificent designs.Alexander's appearance triggered different types of reactions. Vanessa could tell that the guards and the maids were confused and curious, but they could only keep their confusion and curiosity to themselves.Alexander was placed on the bed in his chamber, Vanessa moved quickly to his side. She could s
Elliott was pacing back and forth in the cell where he was locked up. He looked very disturbed, he kept thinking back at the conversation he had with Zoey."If it's true that our pack will soon be attacked by Lynx, then I have to do something now," he muttered to himself.Just then, Zoey entered the dungeon. "I can help you with that," she said. Elliott turned to face her immediately. "How?" he asked urgently.Zoey took out her cell phone. "With this," she replied."However, you have to be very fast in sending the message because the guards will be here soon," Zoey said.Elliott quickly collected the cell phone from Zoey, and sent a message to the white phoenix pack's council hotline, the hotline is where they receive important messages regarding the affairs of the pack.He got notifications from the cell phone that the message has been sent successfully, and he handed the cell phone back to Zoey.Zoey collected the cell phone and she left the dungeon immediately.Elliott let out a s
The hallway then became silent all of a sudden, with everyone of them staring at Vanessa. Vanessa had her eyes fixed on Zedicus , trying not to allow her fears to get over her. Her mind was filled with the question: "What if they say I am lying?""Excuse me young lady, what did you just say?" Zedicus questioned."I said I am carrying a baby. Alpha Alexander's baby," she said again, her voice firmer.Other members of the pack's council wanted a chance to speak. Anything concerning the child of an Alpha is a serious matter. An issue that should not be taken lightly."How can we believe her? This could be a deceit. All her answers have been shady since she came here," Someone said from the back. Vanessa's eyes drifted to him and she shot him a small glare. Zedicus thought for a while before talking, "You said you are carrying the child of our Alpha but we don't know you, you are a stranger to us," he paused for a moment and then continued, "There is a possibility that you are lying and
Lynx's eyes twinkled with hope. "The curse can be broken?" He asked.Genevieve nodded. "However, you have to do something," she said.Lynx narrowed his gaze at her. "What's that?, I can give anything to break the curse," Lynx said."You have to apologize to the girl's family," Genevieve said. "What?" I, Alpha Lynx, should apologize to a refugee? No, that's not possible," Lynx retorted."That's the tradition to lift a curse like that, and you should gladly do that" Genevieve replied. "You are not the one to tell me about any f*cking," Lynx said."You failed to listen to me that day when I told you not to be reckless in your actions, but you went ahead to kill the girl and her mate," Genevieve said. She wanted to continue her statement when Lynx suddenly banged the table."That's enough!" Lynx said angrily."I appreciate you for coming here to tell me how the curse can be broken. However, I will decide whether to apologize or not. You can leave now," Lynx said, dismissing Genevieve an
