Chapter 9

Valerie's POV

I trudged through the woods, my eyes scanning the ground for any sign of the triplets. I couldn't let myself get distracted, not even by Rohan's piercing gaze. I'd been trying to avoid him all day, but it seemed like the universe had other plans.

As I walked, my foot caught on a hidden root and I felt myself falling. But before I could hit the ground, Rohan's arms were around me, pulling me close. "Got you," he whispered, his voice low and husky.

I tried to push him away, but my body seemed to have other plans. I felt a spark of electricity run through me, and my heart began to race. I looked up at Rohan, his eyes locked on mine, and I knew I was in trouble.

I tried to pull away, but Rohan's grip was firm. "I've got you," he repeated, his voice soft.

Alex's voice broke the spell, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled at us. "Glad to see you two are getting along," he said, before turning back to the search.
