Cara's POV

I can't count how many times I woke up to the cold reality of a cold, dark room. My councioness goes in and out as I alternate between reality and the beyond.

The dream came like a thief in the night, stealing away the oppressive cold and replacing it with warmth. I embraced it as my companion in the dark, lonely room.

I saw my home, our pack. It was just a small pack consisting of not up to a hundred members, excluding the children. It was just as I remembered it before everything went wrong. The Lush green fields stretched endlessly under a golden sun. Children ran about, laughing and chasing one another, while adults shared stories near the bonfire. It was peaceful, perfect, and even, a harmony I hadn’t felt in so long that it felt like a distant memory.

The scene shifted to when I and my father went to hunt. I was a little girl of just 4 years old. He was trying to set up the trap, but the thing was hooked. In the process of trying to unhook it, the trap clamped hard

Cara povThe piercing sound of the alarm echoed through the dimly lit tunnel, slicing through the oppressive silence. “They know,” Alpha Black’s guard muttered under his breath, his voice tense. The advancing guards raised their weapons, their faces hard with anger and suspicion, and now fully confirmed. “We’re cornered,” I whispered, my voice trembling as panic clawed at my chest. Our chance of survival was bleak. And with every second that passes, it becomes bleaker. We have been exposed. The guard turned to me, his dark eyes sharp and unwavering. “Stay behind me. Don’t move unless I tell you to.” I nodded mutely, my throat too tight to form words. The narrow corridor suddenly felt suffocating as the guards charged. Their movements were swift, coordinated, and deadly. Alpha Black’s guard met them head-on, a blur of calculated strikes. He fought with precision, his fists and feet landing with brutal efficiency. The way he moved, fast, controlled, relentless. stirred something d

Emily's povI paced the tent, my thoughts a storm I couldn’t calm. Alex’s words replayed over and over in my head. It was like the cold reply of the executioner.“We have been discovered. Switch to Plan B.” That had been his hurried reply before the mindlinked cutted.I clenched my fists, staring at the maps laid out on the makeshift table. “Emily,” Aiden’s voice came softly from behind me. I stiffened but didn’t turn. “What is it, Aiden?” He didn’t answer immediately, and I felt the warmth of his presence as he stepped closer. “You’re overthinking again,” he murmured, his tone low and familiar. I let out a bitter laugh. “Overthinking? Is that what you call preparing for the possibility of losing everything? Alex is out there and probably has been killed. Cara might never make it back, and Brianonly him is fighting through the council. While we are here, seated like chickens for decoration.” “Brian gave you a command,” Aiden interrupted, his hand brushing lightly against my arm.

Caras povfollowed the windy trail of the forest. The trees blurred past me as I sprinted through, my speed a blur even to my own eyes. At first, the surge of power, my heightened senses, boundless stamina, and impossible strength, had left me terrified. Now, after countless runs, I was starting to understand my new reality. Each step felt like freedom, a fleeting escape from the chaos behind me.I hadn’t encountered anyone during my run and began to question if I was heading in the right direction. But the sharp whistle of an arrow grazing my ear shattered that thought.“She dodged it... she actually dodged it,” someone whispered behind me.In seconds, I was surrounded.“She’s a beautiful one,” one of them said, his arrogant smirk grating against my nerves. The men surrounding me were warriors, but not part of Alpha Black’s gang. If they were, I’d already be skewered on their spears. I growled, a warning, but my defiance only made them laugh.“Is she... pouting?” one chuckled.“She’s

Cara’s POVIt’s been two days since we returned to Mafian wolf pack, and I could feel the weight of hatred in every corner of the pack. The once warm smiles and nods of acknowledgment and reverence I once received before everything were replaced by cold glares and whispered insults. People stared at me with malice in their eyes, their disdain palpable.Even Debby, who had always been a source of comfort and guidance, was keeping her distance. I had not seen her since I came back, only sending in other nurses and maids to attend to me. The betrayal cut deep, and though I had the sisters, Emily and Emma, by my side when they weren’t busy, their absence was felt too. Emily was now a commander in mafian wolf pack as well as acting as a leader for her own people, she was burdened with responsibilities that kept her occupied, while Emma was often off with Siden, like two runaway lovers, their bond growing stronger each day.I tried to focus on small tasks to keep myself distracted in the ca

Cara povThe once powerful Rogue King, the wolf who had dominated my thoughts and haunted my dreams, now lay before me, a shadow of his former self. His breaths were shallow, each one a struggle as though life was slipping through his grasp.“Brian!” I screamed, pushing through the crowd. The pack members stepped aside, their expressions a mix of fear and despair. When I reached him, I dropped to my knees, my hands trembling as I reached out to touch his bloodied fur. I felt electricity tingling from his body to mine, following my hands coming in contact with him, but I was not in the right state of mind to give it a second thought. His body was limp, his strength drained.“Brian,” I whispered, tears streaming down my face. “What happened to you?”He opened one eye weakly, and a red orb in place of eyes stared at me with a dim light. “Cara…” he rasped, his voice barely audible. The crowd murmured, going into a frenzy, but I didn’t care. My focus was entirely on him.At that moment, Ga

Caras povDebby looked at me with pity in her eyes, but she didn't try to stop me again.I placed my trembling hands on Brian’s fur, leaning closer to his ear. “Brian, listen to me. You have to shift. I know it’s hard, but you can do this. You’ve faced worse before. Cara’s POVThe forest loomed around me, its towering trees stretching toward the sky like skeletal fingers. Their thick canopies blocked out the light, casting everything in an eerie dark gloom. Each step I took was cautious, careful, yet my mind was anything but steady.Debby’s final words echoed in my thoughts, she had used her last strength to whisper a plea in my ears. “The Cupbearers, go to the mountains and they will locate you”I had promised her that I would go. More like I had no choice than to agree to her request, to find the secret pack hidden deep in the mountains. They were my only hope now. She believed they could help me unlock the power that had betrayed me, the same power that refused to heed my call when I needed it most. My wolf altogether with my abilities looked like they were Inna consensus to ditch me. She had been silent throughout the war. But I could feel her gloominess. Cara’s POVHe had not considered our love. Or at least what we had. Brian threw it all away just to satisfy his guilty conscience. These thoughts kept repeating in my head, for I was knelt in the rubble outside the town hall, my knees buried in the cold dirt, staring at nothing. The sun rose and fell, the air shifting from frigid to unbearably hot, but I didn’t move. I couldn’t. The world around me blurred into an indistinct haze of sorrow, pain, and the heavy scent of ash and blood. Two days had passed, though time had lost its meaning to me.I could hear them. The people. Wailing for their dead, crying for those they would never see again. Mothers screamed for their children; fathers searched desperately for their sons. It was a communion of heartbreak, piercing through the already suffocating silence of a battlefield long abandoned.A man’s voice rose above the cries. his hoarse and broken voice resonated with my heart that was already broken. “No! No, it can’t be her! Please, not

Ryder froze, his expression unreadable. For a moment, he hesitated, but then when I thought he would pounce. He turned and fled into the darkness.“Cara,!!” Emily called my name, making me snap out, focusing on Debby, who was now unconscious but was still bleeding from her wound.“Common, Debby, you have to heal.
