He lied.

Rachael's POV

"And this is why I would advise you to get on your knees. Maybe if you beg enough— I will release your backbone, with no condition attached." Alpha Blackwood said with a straight face.

"I should kneel??"

"Don't listen to him, Racheal." Jared warned sternly, stepping forward, "you know my father, he would do anything just to see his enemies kneel before him, even if he had to tell a lie."

"Jared is right. We should verify my father's words, through the priestess." Jake commented, glaring at his father.

"I agree with Jake and Jared," Jackson said. "It could simply be that there's a delay of some sort. Maybe the whole bond stuff with your wolf is just delaying. I wouldn't want you to overreact without knowing what the truth is."

I sighed and cast my gaze upon them all, wondering what to do next. Jared is wrong. I know his father more than he does. Alpha Blackwood isn't one to bluff, he is the type to lie, with an iota of truth in his lies.

"Okay." I nodded my head, stepping
