Chapter 58

A way?

Lilian.

“We are leaving this place.” Daemon's voice cut through the little conversation that was going on between Wilder and Oliver.

“We just got here.” Oliver said, her round face scrunching into a frown. “Besides, I'm still recovering from my sickness.”

Daemon's expression was still passive. “Pack up whatever is yours, and let's hit the road.”

“What inspired this movement, if I may ask?” Oliver asked again.

I sat at the corner of the room while observing everything that was going on. Oliver, Hailey, and Wilder were sitting on a round table discussing their next movement.

Daemon's eyes cut through to mine, and his voice softened. “Let's get going, Lily.”

And without another word, he came towards me, gently pulling me up from the floor.

“You've got to be kidding me!” Oliver burst out in surprise. “Really? We are back here again?”

“What's going on in your head? Huh?” This time, Wilder burst out in a loud voice.

My jaw dropped in shock, and Hailey's eyes were widened

I remember every detail about it because I had spent more time here in the pack, cleaning and making sure everything was to the Luna's taste during her pregnancy.“I feel fine…" I murmured in response, my thoughts still hazy, unaware of who had spoken.“I mean your memories.” The voice continued softly. “What do you remember?”“What memories?” I still could not tell what was going on.“Lilian!” The voice got deeper and sharper, sending warm shivers down my spine.Only one person could make me feel that way. Daemon. My eyes flew wide in surprise as it registered in my mind that I was in the same bed with Daemon. I sat up, my back straight, and I came face to face with Daemon who had a weird smirk on his

Chapter 60I Cut Myself, Why Are You Bleeding?Lilian.Days passed after my last encounter with Ayana, and I was just beside myself. Daemon was barely around, but somehow, I almost did not feel his absence. Something about his movements bothered me, and yet all that concerned me was piecing the puzzles of my memories after my parents had been brutally killed by Daemon.I was suddenly interrupted from my thoughts by a ruckus. I peered through the window of the room Daemon and I occupied, and I could tell the reason instantly.“I want to speak to her myself!” The dark-haired man said furiously even as he was halfheartedly stopped by some pack warriors. His eyes went up towards the window and our eyes met, and it only infuriated him further.“Get down here, Lilian! What are you people playing at?”The warriors looked up helplessly at me, unsure whether to let him in or not. I nodded to them to let him in. I was bored, anyway. Nothing significant had happened the last few days, all the pa

Did you get hurt?” There was panic in my eyes as I assessed the wound that was bleeding at a really fast rate.Daemon's face twisted in confusion. “No.”“No?” I asked, also as confused as he was.Something was egging me at the back of my mind to confirm a theory, but my heart began racing. I hoped that whatever this was, it wasn't what I was thinking of. But, the look on Daemon's face scared me.“Let me try something out.” I said slowly and picked up a knife that laid inside the fruit bowl.I winced as the knife went into my skin, drawing bright red blood from it. I waited and observed. And true to my fear, I figured how I was going to end Daemon's life. I was a little relieved, but still concerned.“So…” Daemon drawled out, and my eyes met his. “Your death is going to bring about my death?”I smiled sadly. “It sure seems so.” My eyes cut down to his hand which was bleeding like mine was.“Can we really escap

  • Mated To The Predator    I Don't Know You

Chapter 62I Don't Know You.Lilian.The path was lonely and windy, but I knew my destination was not so far anymore. Thick trees lined the narrow road, and the path was deserted. It felt weird that there was a group of people that lived this far away from the central pack, and what was worse was that it was filled with the old men and women. My legs were slowly growing heavy as I trudged the path, my mind still a mess of the earlier incident. I shook my head, pitying myself. Daemon was hoping to do the impossible, and I couldn't help him because… I just couldn't.I sighed as I reached my destination. Rows of huts were lined as I turned towards the curve of the road. Each hut has smoke rising from it. When was the last time I came here? I was sure I was barely five years old, but I remembered that there was a place like this. I wasn't let out of the house, and the few times I went out with my parents, I made sure to cherish those memories. An old woman sat in front of the first hut, s

I don't care.” I shrugged and walked on aimlessly, my heart barely in the search for Lilian. Why did Daemon even bother about a lowlife like her?“We need to find her before nightfall. Daemon's mood this evening was really erratic. He is worried that something bad has happened to her.”“Worried?” Those words bothered me.Daemon barely really cared about her and her movements. Why was he suddenly interested in her whereabouts?“Yeah.” She said and suddenly, her eyes lit up as she looked at me. “You know, since I reunited with my parents, I made a decision.”“Yeah? What about it?”“I've decided to join the pack warriors.” She smiled genuinely. “My training will start tomorrow.”“That's… That's really nice to hear.” I said in earnest, she looked really different now. Please — stop butting into our family. You are causing a lot of inconvenience here.”The rest of them were intrigued with me. My eyes glazed over her and fell on my mother who did not meet my eyes. Her head was hung low, and her shiny black hair was tied into a tight bun. There was something weird about her expression, like she knew who I was but was denying me for some unknown reason.“Then…" I cut my eyes away from her and looked at everyone. “What about grandmother? Mom brought me here when I was five years old.”They were about to make an excuse when a heavy thud was heard from inside, and Eli looked like he just died and resurrected instantly.“She has woken up!” He cursed under his breath and stamped his foot, not hiding his glare from me.I waited, heart pounding slightly,

Chapter 65A Patron.Lilian.A knock sounded on the door pulling us out of the current conversation.“Come in.” Daemon responded to the knock, and we all turned towards that black oak door, waiting as it was slowly pushed open.“They are here…" Gamma Nowel, or should I say 'Alpha Nowel' walked into the room, pausing to take in the fading tension in the room.“Who?” Oliver rose from her chair in a fluid motion, her shiny hair falling in waves onto her slim back and waist. Her facial expression had turned neutral as she stared at him.Gamma Nowel, just like everyone else in the pack, was awestruck by her undeniable beauty and smooth voice. So, he turned to her and gave her the nicest smile he had to offer.“The Alphas have gathered. They are in the pack, and they would like to have a meeting tomorrow evening.”“Wasn't the meeting supposed to be held in a week's time?” Oliver questioned, and my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. What meeting? Chapter 66First And Second Option. It was late into the night when the meeting was held. Outside was cold with the rain pattering on the roof, but inside a stark contrast to that. The room was big enough to contain all the Alphas, Daemon, Oliver and Wilder.Daemon sat at the head of the table, asserting his dominance over everyone. Yes, they were all Alphas, but no one on that table was anything close to being as strong as he was.“Can we begin?” His voice was deep and dark as he shifted slightly in his seat, sitting forward with a straight back, and an aura of a king flowed round him.The room was lit with little lamps which highlighted their faces and their shadows were cast on to the stone wall. The room smelled like burning wood–the burning fireplace that kept the room warm. In the middle of the room sat a uniquely carved table where all men, and one woman, sat around.“What is your purpose for this meeting?” One of the Alphas asked coldly, openly showing his aggression towards t

Leaning into the half wall, she said. “Don't worry about that. Have you found out what I asked you to?”The man gave her a long stare before he sighed in resignation and pulled out an envelope from the pocket of his finely sewed black suit.“Yes…" He paused, opening the envelope and taking out its contents. “True to your suspicions, the Predator has been making secret moves. Presently, he is away in the Borderland Packs.”Oliver raised her brows at that. “That far? What is he doing there?”Oliver wondered to herself as she tried to understand why Daemon and Wilder had gone off the radar these past few weeks. She barely heard from any of them, and somehow, she felt abandon

Her arm around his neck tightened, and she drew his face even closer, burrowing her nose into the crook of his neck, taking a deep sniff of his natural scent.“Lilian.” Daemon growled as his eyes darkened. What was this woman doing? This wasn't the right time for this! Hell, they were about to get separated from each other anytime from now. When her fingers brushed the back of his head, he felt his body stiffening.Just a few minutes, he thought, then he would place her on her bed and leave. He could feel his demons stirring from the abyss as he locked eyes with hers, his gaze tracing her soft skin, and her small and supple lips that were always too inviting when she opened her mouth to speak. Her plan for this party was to smoke out the patrons using her powers— hearing hushed whispers or distant noises if she tried so hard to concentrate on them.“Are you not joining the party?” She heard a deep voice behind her, startled, she turned to find Daemon staring at her from the corner of the room.“When?” Her brows rose confused, “How did you get in? How did you know I was here?”Daemon just shook his head, his eyes still not leaving her figure. “It's okay to feel like backing out, I told you this party was useless in the first place.”Lilian gave him a mirthless smile and shook her head, tilting her head to the side, she said calmly. “I think you need to, you know, clear your head with this party. You've been stressed and tensed up lately about getting the patrons, I think y

Her back was straight, and her eyes were staring intently at the clipboard in her hand, she was barely looking at the man.“Of course, you need my help!” He inwardly rolled his eyes as said, unable to hide the growing irritation. “Just what do you need? And at what price are you willing to give?”“I need their identities before this evening is over.” She said calmly, and it took a few moments before he could understand what she was talking about.A small frown formed on his face. “You saw them during the exchange,” He said in a serious voice, standing from his crouched position, his face straight. “Why don't you reveal their identity yourself?”She pursed her lips for a few seconds. “I can't. It was sealed in me.”Her mind flashed back to the night during the first exchange, that

Is she okay?” He began to pull himself away from the wall, his voice filled with worry.Oliver felt the hollow pain in her chest as she watched Daemon's concern for Lilian. When was he going to see her the way she saw him? Was he ever going to look her way even for a second? She bit her lips, trying to force away the tears that came with the pain in her heart.“Nothing.” She shook her head, before realizing

Chapter 71.An Opportunity.Oliver was carefully tapping her perfectly manicured nails on the table, in deep thought about Lilian's proposition.“Friends?” She scoffed at herself and rolled her eyes. “Sure, when hell freezes over!”Suddenly, the door opened, and a mysteriously cloaked man walked into the room. Oliver casually glanced at him before going back to her thoughts. She had been expecting him for over an hour, and she had given up on waiting for him.“I'm sorry for the delay.” The man said in a gruff voice and slipped on quietly into the room, closing the door behind him with a soft click. “I had to weave through many guards before I could come up.”“Just stop with the lies.” Oliver looked uninterested. “There are barely any guards or warriors around this time of the night.”The man began peeling off the coat from his body, hanging it on the nearest chair he could find.“Maybe things have suddenly changed, or,” He shrugged, “You're not as observant as you think you are.”“And

Chapter 70.A Party. The pack hall was dimly lit when she entered, the once rowdy hall quietened as soon as she took her first steps. It was as if they could sense her as all heads turned towards her direction.Lilian let out a shaky breath as she made her way into the pack hall, making sure her gaze on people was steady, showing no form of fear or coldness. It was difficult to keep up with the neutral position of her face as some people either stared daggers at her or cowered when her eyes landed on them. This wasn't going to be easy, she thought to herself. She was finally able to make her way to the podium, and she suddenly remembered the last time she stood on the wooden platform. Her fate was being decided by the elders of the pack, and it was then she learned about the death of her parents– her aunt's family, rather– who had died in the hands of Alpha Blackthorn.“Hello, everyone.” Lilian cleared her throat and spoke, softly and calmly, yet clear enough for everyone to hear. All

Chapter 69A New Proposition.“What do you think of her plan?” Wilder asked with a straight face, his hands in his pocket as he strode in step with Daemon. “Will it work out?”Daemon did not reply for a few seconds as he checked his watch, and when he replied, he completely ignored Wilder's question.“Has anyone other Alpha reached out to you?”Wilder sighed at his response and shook his head. “Only three Alphas have shown interest so far.”“Apart from Alpha Callow, who else?”“I know that Alpha Nolan and Alpha Ryker are planning to join hands with Lilian. Alpha Nowel will undoubtedly be on our side even though he hasn't revealed the patron for this pack yet.”“And the other four Alphas?”“I guess they are still contemplating their answers.”They reached the large garage beside the pack house and it was filled with different kinds of expensive cars– mostly acquired by the late Alpha Blackthorn and was now given to Daemon to be used at his disposal. Chapter 68Can We Be Friends?“What do you think you're doing?”Lilian sat casually on the black sofa of the living room when Daemon burst into the room angrily with Oliver and Wilder following behind.“Helping you.” Lilian replied without looking his way, a small book sat on her lap as her eyes ran through the page she was reading.“How is what you're doing being helpful?” Oliver burst in, her face twisted in anger and her hands shaking. “You offered them so much…"“Well…" Lilian cut her off sharply, closing the book with a soft thud before giving Oliver a cold look. “Isn't it better that they think we are divided?”Wilder gave the woman on the sofa a calculating look. Something had changed in her, and he didn't know when the change started. She was calmer this time, and there was also an edge to her. Lilian had an aloof expression on her face as she spoke to Oliver.“Why should they think we are divided? They wouldn't trust us, or want to join forces with us.”“I'm not speaking of t
