“Goddess, what happened?” Marlene asked the moment she heard Selene's voice.
Selene turned and Marlene gasped. The moon symbol was no longer glowing.
“Y… Y… Your moon symbol!” She exclaimed, moving closer to her.
“I don't know what's going on,” Selene muttered and quickly sat down. She tried to listen and see if she could hear the voices like she normally does. She could still hear the voices, and she sighed in relief, but when she wanted to give mates, she realized that she couldn't find the perfect match anymore.
She gasped again. “This can't be happening. What happened to me?” She panicked.
“But you were fine before you went down to the land of mortals.” Marlene said.
“Yes, the land of mortals,” Her thoughts drifted to when she touched the baby and felt something leave her body. “Could it be?” She asked herself, but she shook her head immediately. “No, it can't be. He's just a baby.”
Marlene furrowed her brows. She was confused as she didn't know what the moon goddess was talking about.
Selene was restless. How on Earth did she lose her powers? This wasn't good. If the council of gods heard this, they would scold her for sure. She was a supreme being, but that didn't mean she had no superiors. She still had people she looked up to, and those were gods that had existed even before she was born.
They weren't going to be happy with what just happened.
She disappeared and appeared to look at the boy. He was fast asleep in his crib. Just the mere sight of him warmed her heart and made her forget what she was there for in the first place. She had this natural love for babies, but it was different with this one.
Something about him made her heart stir in ways she couldn't fathom. When Queen Bathsheba entered, she snapped out of her thoughts and checked if there was any moon symbol on his head.
“There's nothing here, but what happened to me?” She asked herself.
If the child had been born with any special gift, she would have known, but he was just an ordinary wolf. She paced around the room, thinking of what was probably wrong. He awoke and she looked down at him.
His gray eyes bored into hers one more time, making her heart skip.
“What is wrong with me?” She pulled her hair.
Could her powers have gone to the baby? If so, he should have seen the moon sign on his forehead. She gazed at his olive colored skin, her attention on his forehead, but there was nothing there.
She wanted to touch him but withdrew her hand. What if her powers were truly in him?
“Dominic is your name, son. You look a lot like your father. He was a brave man; the best thing that has ever happened to this pack and the best Alpha in all Werewolf history,” Queen Bathsheba said as she breastfed the baby. “You know what, I'm deeply grateful to the moon goddess for saving me that day. I know she saved me because of you. I can't thank her enough. She gave you the opportunity to continue your father's lineage, and I'm certain that you're going to break your father's record and make this pack whole again.” She massaged his forehead.
Selene found her words heartwarming. She had received praises from different people before this one. People have eulogized her for the numerous things she had done for them, but she was moved by Queen Bathsheba's praises. Never in her existence had she experienced such a thing before and it kind of felt alien to her… but in a good way.
“There is something about this baby. There is definitely something suspicious and strange,” She said.
His eyes glowed a bright shade of yellow and she gasped. It was indeed true. Her powers were in the baby, but how? How did it happen? She only touched him. She didn't command her powers to get to him.
With a sigh, she disappeared and appeared back in the realm.
“Moon goddess, were you able to find it?” Marlene asked.
“My powers got transferred to the baby,” She mumbled, but Marlene heard her loud and clear. She wasn't supernatural for nothing.
“Oh no! Were you able to get it back?” Marlene asked.
“I wanted to touch him like I did before, but I couldn't. I didn't know if it would come back to me or if others would go to him. He's just a child. He can't give people mates. I've never been this confused in my life!” She snapped and the realm shook.
Marlene rushed to her immediately. “Calm down, please. You can figure this out. You're the moon goddess. Nothing is impossible for you to do.” Marlene cooed.
The moon goddess' anger wasn't a good one. And that was why werewolves feared her wrath. Marlene knew this and tried her best to keep her calm.
Selene paced around. “This one looks quite impossible. I've tried to listen, but I can't seem to get anything. All I keep hearing is people that need my help. I want answers but one minute, it looks like I'm about to grab it, and the next, it is gone.” She sighed and facepalmed.
“I believe in you. We all do. You will find a way out.” Marlene comforted her.
After pacing around for a while, she sat down and tried to meditate again. She was supposed to be perfect and without flaws. She was supposed to be all knowing and little things like this shouldn't be this difficult for her, but why was the case with this baby different? Why was a little child making her so worried and anxious; something she hadn't felt before in her history of existence?
“Who are you, little baby?” She asked, massaging her temple.
A cold chill ran throughout the whole place, and she quickly stood up.
“Moon goddess…” Marlene trailed off.
“I know. They're here,” She sighed and took her Scepter. She exhaled, raised her head up high and walked to the meeting room.
When she opened the door, she was stunned by the furious faces in the room.
Their eyes darted to the faded symbol on her forehead.
“What have you done?”
4.“I'm sorry,” Selene bowed her head to them. She knew she had done the wrong thing this time around, and there was no justification for her mistake. The gods looked at her and shook their heads. Never in their lives have they seen something this complicated before.Zeus stood up and the rest of the 11 gods bowed. Zeus was their leader, and he had led the council of 12 gods for ages. He looked at Selene, his silver eyes boring into hers like they would cut through her soul.“How could you make such a mistake? We have no business with physical contact with the wolves. Why did you touch the baby?” He asked.Selene sighed. “I'm sorry. I wasn't in control of myself and my emotions.” She answered sincerely.“You're the moon goddess, Selene. No one has the kind of self-control you have.” Artemis sighed and facepalmed.“I know, but this one was beyond me. I just saw myself reaching out to touch the baby.” She replied.“And because of this stupid mistake, your powers are at risk,” Ares, the
5.“Mate?” Selene asked. She looked around to see whether he was referring to someone else, but his eyes were boring into hers. He was… referring to her. How?She was the moon goddess; a being responsible for giving wolves their mates. She can't be a mate herself.Dominic scoffed. “This can't be possible,” He stared at her. He took in her features, and even though she was relatable, he would never accept a stranger as his mate. He hadn't even seen her before, and now he was expected to call her mate? Never!“The moon goddess must have made a mistake. Why would she mate me to somebody like you?” He snapped at her.“I have no idea. I am confused and know nothing about what's going on here,” She arched her brows.“Let me clarify this for you, Missy. If you want to survive in this school, stay the hell away from me, okay? And, if by any chance words get out that I was mated to a frail stranger like you, I won't hesitate to have your head for dinner.” He warned.Selene couldn't believe her
6.Selene managed to get up and dragged her feet to the ladies restroom. She felt his hold on her neck might have left a mark and definitely wanted to get rid of it since she hated blemishes on her skin.If she was a wolf, it would have healed quickly but she wasn't one. She was only made to look like them. As she made her way to the restroom, she saw the students trooping out of their various classes. They all went in different directions but she noticed those in her class were headed the same way. No doubt it was already time for their Martial arts classes.“I should be back before they're all dressed up and arranged.” She whispered to herself but was dragged back by one of the students.“Where are you going, newbie?” He asked with a sneer.“Hey!” She snapped and another one grabbed her hand.“The Martial arts dojo is that way,” He pointed to a direction where her classmates were headed. “If you can't find your way, I'm being nice by showing it to you.” He smirked.Selene couldn't h
7.Dominic went to the class, took his bag and left the school premises in his car. He couldn't believe Mr. Ethan paired him with Selene. Out of all the girls in their class, it had to be Selene. Now, he'd have to spend time with her which is what he didn't want at all.“Damn it!” He groaned angrily. He returned to the mansion and the maids welcomed him. Ignoring them and flinging his backpack in the hands of one of them, he walked to the throne room and met his mother in a meeting with some elders.Queen Bathsheba stopped speaking and smiled on seeing her son, but her smile faded when she realized he wasn't supposed to be home by now.“Greetings, Alpha.” The elders bowed and he nodded before walking to where his mother was seated.“Mother, there's something I need to tell you.” He requested.“How about when I'm done?” She whispered lovingly.Dominic sighed and sat on a throne that was placed beside her. “Please, let's proceed.” Queen Bathsheba gestured for the elders to continue.“We
8.NEXT DAY…Selene sighed as she walked into the hallways. After Dominic left the dojo the previous day, the students jeered at her and those that were jealous even went ahead to call her names and accused her of purposely making Mr. Ethan pair her and Dominic. She tried to ignore them, knowing that her stay here was limited but some of their words were quite harsh and hurtful. She thought she knew what high school girls faced, especially the newbies when she was in her goddess form, but it seemed she knew nothing. She was equally shocked when out of the number of girls they had, she was the one who got paired with Dominic and wanted to ask Mr. Ethan about it but she refrained from doing so.She looked around to see if Dominic was in school but couldn't find him. With a sigh, she went for her locker and opened it to see a dead bird in it.She didn't scream and looked at the students who were all gathered to take photos and videos of her reaction. Their initial plan was to scare her a
9.“Are you surprised?” Dominic asked with a smirk.Selene couldn't believe this guy. It wasn't like they were getting into a contract marriage or anything. It was just a partnership. What has contracts got to do with all these?“I don't really understand how being your Martial arts partner requires a contract.” She frowned at him.Dominic loved the look on her face. Finally, he annoyed her with something and counted it as an achievement.“You know, I am the most sought-after guy in this Academy. I need to bind you with a contract to avoid you going out of bounds.” He explained.“Going out of bounds? How?” She asked and he facepalmed.“Are you dumb or what? Look at me from head to toes, then look around and see how the girls stare at me,” He ordered and Selene found herself doing as he had said. She could see how the ladies stared like they were going to eat him whole. The way some guys stared at him made her think they were bisexual. Like why the heck would a guy stare at his fellow
10.“A drastic plan? Tell me about it?” Selene knew Artemis to be pretty dark and cunning. She was the most quiet among the gods but she was good with hunt and very cunning. She was also a master at making deadly plans. She and Artemis usually got along since she was the moon goddess and Artemis was also associated with the moon.“How about we turn him into a bunny?” She asked and Selene frowned.“Come on, Artemis! This isn't a time to joke around. I really need to draw his attention.” She complained.Artemis chuckled and thought for a while. “What if we ask Poseidon to drown him in the sea?” Artemis asked.“If he dies in the sea, my power dies with him. That's not going to help at all.” Selene frowned.“Okay. How about we ask Aphrodite to make him fall in love with you? That way, you would get back your powers and we wouldn't have anything to worry about.” She suggested.“You can't force nature, Artemis. He has to fall in love with me of his own accord. If I make Aphrodite use her pow
11.NEXT DAY…Selene skimmed through the wardrobe, trying to pick out what to wear from the clothes Artemis had changed for her. She settled on a short black skirt and white crop top.She packed her hair into a bun and slipped on a pair of black sneakers before picking her school bag and dashing out of the house. She stopped a bus and got in immediately. People were already filled up and there was only a space at the back. She'd have to sit close to one of the bullies in school; particularly the idiot that she marked his face to deal with.Selene would have quit the bus but she had already tipped her money. With a sigh, she removed her bag, and sat down, wondering why a soon to be Alpha would be using the public transport.“Hello, pretty eyes,” He smiled at her but she ignored him.He seemed annoyed by her attitude and held her hand. Selene snapped her head to his direction and frowned at him. “Why are you taking a public bus, Luna?” He asked. She yanked her hands away from him. “I sh
138.As per Selene's instructions, Artemis and Aphrodite were able to unite the remaining gods, who didn't get manipulated by Ares. Hermes, Hephaestus, Athena and Dionysus. They had their plan already drafted out but some of the gods wasn't sure it was going to work."Aren't we putting everybody in danger by doing this?" Athena asked.Selene sighed. "People are already in danger, Athena. The sky is black, Ares takeover has begun and we can't let him finish it. If we don't stop him today, everyone will get hurt. We will all become his slave.""I have zero interest in being any body's slave, thank you." Dionysus said with his legs crossed.Hephaestus came with a sword and gave it to Selene. "This is the godkiller sword you asked me to make," he said. "Make sure you don't blow your chances. It's not that easy to make."Selene took it and smiled. "Thank you so much."They heard the sound of thunder and rushed out. They looked up and their eyes widened. The sky above them burned with an a
137."Hurry! We have to get out of here!" Matilda yelled at the horseman who was carrying her and her father in the carriage. After Selene exposed them, she didn't wait to see whether Dominic would come for them or not.She rushed home and told her father everything. Now they were on the run because no doubt, Dominic will come for them soon to avenge the death of his father.Alpha Draco buried his face in his palms. "I never planned for all this to happen, Matilda. We were supposed to lure him into marrying you, kill him and his mother and take over the pack. How did everything go wrong?" he couldn't believe the plan he had plotted for more than twenty years crashed as soon as he reached the peak.Matilda seethed. "Bloody Selene! Bloody moon goddess!" she yelled. If Selene hadn't revealed herself as the moon goddess and caused all these rubbish, she would have had Dominic in her palms. After a few minutes of cursing and wishing her luck were different, she turned to face her father. "
136. “Selene is the moon goddess? How is Selene the moon goddess?!” Bryce exclaimed, his eyes wide in shock. Naya smiled, her gaze fixed on them. “Yes, she is. She finally made the decision.” Bryce stared in confusion. “Why didn’t you tell me all those times you came to visit me in my room?” Dominic asked. “I didn’t know how and I wasn’t ready to take my powers away from you either. Taking my powers meant I’d never see you again. I didn’t want that.” she replied. “But you’ve taken them. Does this mean we’d never see each other again?” he asked but she looked away. “Selene,” he held her. “I love you. Moon goddess or not, I love you, Selene. Please, don’t leave me.” Ian and the other demons disappeared when they saw that Selene had transformed. Their plan had failed. Selene got rid of the shield and brought them back to the floor. “I’m sorry, Dominic. It’s what has to be done to bring stability back to the mortal world and the spiritual realm.” Dominic shook his head fr
135. Selene facepalmed. What the heck was wrong with Matilda? “I tried searching for you but your pack didn’t exist. What’s going on? Did I miss something?” he asked and Selene shook her head. “No. You didn’t. The pack was made up by me.” she lowered her head, it was now or never. Before Dominic could respond, Matilda beat him to it. “See! I told you! Oh and she has strange powers too, don’t you Selene?” she asked and Selene took in her bottom lip. “Dominic. Let’s just talk privately. I promise to tell you everything.” Selene tried to touch him but Matilda blocked her path. It annoyed Selene who was trying to put up with her. “What is your problem?!” she snapped. Matilda scoffed. “My problem is that you’re a cruel liar! You’re planning to manipulate Dominic into believing you but I won’t allow that. Do you have powers or not?” she yelled. “Yes, I do, what’s the big deal?” Selene yelled back. Students had already gathered and couldn’t believe what was happening. The sky was dark
134. After Selene convinced the girls and they left, she took a deep breath and crossed her legs again as she tried to gather her energy. She had no time and she knew she had to make the ultimate sacrifice, and that was to take her powers away from Dominic once and for all. If she had done that, all these wouldn’t have happened. She blamed herself for the chaos Ares was about to release in the werewolf world, and she knew she had to make things right - even if it meant losing the love of her life. She had chosen love over her duty and she was paying the price right now. She wouldn’t say she regretted it - she cherished every moment - but her regret was getting addicted to it. She should have left when she had the chance, now the world is in danger because of her. Selene sighed. At least she had something to do about it. All she had to do was meditate and regain her strength. Right now, she looked like a mess and couldn’t even recognize herself. Selene's eyelids fluttered close
133. Selene took a deep breath, feeling the cool air fill her lungs. The scent of blooming flowers and fresh earth enveloped her, a welcome change from the stagnant air of the time loop. She looked around, taking in her surroundings. The familiar landscape of the world she has come to love unfolded before her – the towering trees, the shimmering lake, and the majestic palace in the distance. But something felt off. The air was thick with an eerie silence. The trees seemed to loom over her, their branches like skeletal fingers reaching for the sky. Selene's senses tingled, her moon goddess instincts on high alert. Ares's influence. She could feel it, a dark energy spreading like a stain across the land. Selene's determination hardened. She had to stop Ares, no matter the cost. With a swift motion, she summoned her powers. The moon responded, its light bursting forth in a radiant beam. Selene's eyes gleamed with resolve. “I will not let you take over, Ares. I know you can hear me
132. “The takeover will begin tomorrow. I already have all the powers in my grasp. And Zeus being in meditation made it even easier.” Ares chuckled as he spoke with Hades. Hades laughed hysterically. “You know, I might have underestimated you a little bit. You turned the gods and goddesses against the moon goddess and captured her. Now you want to take over her world. You’re smart, I give you that.” Ares smiled, his eyes gleaming with triumph. "Elementary, my dear Hades. Divide and conquer. The moon goddess's isolation made her vulnerable. Now, with her out of the way, nothing stands between me and the throne." Hades nodded, his dark eyes sparkling with intrigue. "And what of the other gods and goddesses? Will they not suspect your hand in this?" Ares waved his hand dismissively. "They're too busy fighting each other, thanks to my subtle manipulations. By the time they realize what's happening, I'll be the one holding the reins." Hades chuckled, his deep voice rumbling. "You've c
131. Apollo reappeared in Selene's house with the girls and Artemis paced back and forth wearily. "We have to report this to Zeus. He is the only one who can save Selene. He's the only one who can bring us out from this mess." Apollo shook his head. "Zeus is currently meditating and you know how it works. We can't disturb him." Aphrodite stood to her feet. "What are we going to do then? Watch Ares have his way? He has already turned the people against the moon goddess. The world is slowing slipping into his palms. Zeus's meditations takes days and my patience is wearing thin. I can't wait that long." "Disrupting his meditation is as good as dying and you know the rules. I believe he is seeing everything that's happening and will be back to put Ares in his place." "By then, Ares would have taken over and gotten strong. Fuck all these!" Artemis snapped, raising her hands in the air. “Zeus can handle him. You don’t have to worry about that.” he tried to touch her but she yanked his
130. Artemis paced, frustration lining her features. "We've heard nothing from Selene. She went to speak with Ares, and now both are missing." she threw her hands in the air. She was very worried about Selene. Aphrodite's brow furrowed, concern etched on her face. "The gods aren't responding. It's as if they're hiding something." "What do we do? We can't just sit and watch. We have no idea what happened and how she suddenly vanished. Selene wouldn't go anywhere without letting us know, would she?" Artemis covered her face with her palms, her mind racing with possibilities of where Selene could actually be. Just then, Apollo appeared before them, his radiant aura dimmed. Artemis spun, her eyes blazing. "Apollo, where is Selene? I know you're involved in this!" she snapped, the anger evident in her voice. Aphrodite stood up as well, mirroring Artmis' expression. Apollo's expression turned somber. "Artemis, please—" "Don't 'please' me!" Artemis interrupted. "You've always had fee
