Ava's POV

All through the journey home, no one said a word. Not me, nor Xander. As for Alpha Lark, he slept for a long time, without opening his eyes.

By the time we finally get back to the pack house, Xander made me know he was going to attend Alpha Lark, while I go see my friend, Penny. Fortunately, she was asleep.

I pecked her head and made sure the blanket was wrapped around her well. Heaving a sigh, I went back to the things I packed from Aunt Janet's side. The question as to who I was kept ringing in my head.

"I healed him, Neva. How is that even possible?" I closed my eyes, sinking into the chair next to me. Since we got home late, everyone had gone to bed, and just a few werewolf soldiers were available.

"What do we do now?" Neva questioned.

"I don't know, Neva. I just want Lark to get better." I responded, trying to pick up the white paper with the blood stains I had seen while packing Aunt Janet's stuff.

"What could she have written?" I reminisced aloud but was interrupted by

Ava’s POV Life has been different since I stepped my foot into this pack. Everyone started to accept me for who I really was. Especially now that Valerie is away. It's been a month now. And I'm starting to shake off the whole revenge thing. One thing life has taught me is to let go of the pain and embrace sweetness whenever I come across one. As for my baby bump–I'm here to have one. I'm just one month gone. “For someone pregnant, you look so strong,” Penny teased. “When will you start learning how to knock before entering, Penny?” I rolled my eyes. “And how many hours have you been standing there?” I added, stretching lazily. “Long enough to see you admiring yourself and the babies?” Penny smiled sheepishly. Can I say life has been fair to us for the past month? Yes. There has been no war recorded. Not even any deaths were added to the ones before. Many people said I was a blessing. And many agreed that, indeed, I was the peace they'd all been waiting for. “Babies?” “Yes

My heart raced faster than I had to push him off me. Every bit of me…wants him. So badly. My body tensed as I felt so hot. My face burned hot and my ears turned red.I could observe them from where I stood since the mirror wasn't so far from me. Right now, I'm sure he could also smell my desire for him. I could see him trying to control his wolf. I'm sure he needs to know I was on the same page with him. He wants to be sure I need him just like he wants me. “I've never been so real with anyone in my life. Like I've been to you Ava,” he broke the silence. The breeze from the evening blew the veil allowing the moon to cast its glow into my chamber. “I've waited so hard for this day. I don't care if you carry another man's child or not,” Alpha Lark said. Approaching me slowly, with my back turned on him. He pulled me closer to his embr

Ava’s POVI had opened my eyes to see Lark staring at me. Looking at him closely, I couldn’t help but feel shy.I know this isn’t my first time being in bed with a man. But with Lark, it feels so different.“Good morning, sunshine,” Lark smiled.“Good morning,” I answered shyly.Covering the rest of my body with the sheets, I tried making my way out of bed. But he was quick to bring me closer.“I’m sorry. But I can’t have you run off again.” Lark said against my neck.Giving me a little peck on my neck, I felt my toes curl.“I will do anything for you, Ava,” he replied against my shoulder.“Anything for us,” he concluded with his hand on my stomach.Just then, I felt the urge to talk. Since we are here now, maybe having a conversation is better.“I don’t want to do this anymore,” I started.Gently placing my head on his chest, I felt a drop of tear flow down my cheek.“Hey, hey, hey,” Lark whispered.Gently tilting my cheeks, making me stare at him in the eyes. Ava's POV It was pouring. Heavily. My peach-colored dress was soaked, and my phone kept vibrating in my pocket.I stood there, watching from a distance as the blood of my parents mixed with the rainwater that filled the streets. My eyes drifted to the car, still open. I could see my mom's hand, limp, hanging from the side. I started walking toward it, my legs feeling like lead. I didn't dare get too close. My voice came out as a whisper, shaky, barely audible, "Mom, mommy... are you... are you okay?"My dad's lifeless body lay flat on the floor, his eyes wide in shock as blood from his severed head pooled beneath him. My heart raced, terror creeping through me, but I couldn't shift into my wolf form. I just kept mumbling, "Daddy, Dad... please wake up! Mom! Don’t leave me! Somebody, anybody, help!"But my heart remained calm. Too calm. My body felt numb, detached from everything. I blinked twice, hoping—praying—that I was hallucinating. Maybe this was just some twisted illusion. The p

Ava's POVFear gripped me as I allowed Neva to take over my entirety. "Someone's coming," Neva purred.Quickly, I closed the door leading to Aunt Janet's room, and I remained silent.Suddenly I saw a shadow pass by the window side, causing my heart to leap. With my lips drawn into thin lines, I was ready to fight back by opening the door only for me to bump into Lark.Screaming hard, he curbed my hand, causing me to miss the attack. "Let me go!" I yelled, panting heavily."Calm down, sweetheart. It's me. It's Lark." he cautioned, holding me tighter."Goddess! You scared me." I paused, trying to catch my breath.Quickly Alpha Lark's guard rushed in. "Take everything packed into the car. We'll join you shortly," he added.I looked around, still trembling at the whole tense situation. I was sure I saw a shadow, and--"You are still shaking, Ava. What happened?" Alpha Lark questioned, his eyes fixed on mine."I feel someone killed my aunt. And the person is after me too," I trembled. Yes,
