Phoebe’s POV

I sat on the edge of my bed, gripping my phone tightly. I had been staring at the screen for a while, debating what to do. My uncle was still in the hospital, recovering, and even though Nathaniel had told me not to worry, I couldn’t help it. He had handled everything, from the medical bills, getting the best doctors and the best care—but I needed to see for myself that my uncle was okay.

I took a deep breath and scrolled through my contacts until I found the name I was looking for.

Mark.

I hesitated for a second before pressing the call button. The phone rang a few times before he finally answered.

“Phoebe?” His voice sounded uncertain, as if he hadn’t expected me to call.

“Hey,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady. “I want to visit Uncle. Are you free?”

There was a pause. “You want to go today?”

“Yes.”

Another pause. Then, “Alright. I’ll meet you there.”

I exhaled, relieved. “Thanks.”

After ending the call, I got up, grabbed my coat, and stepped out of my room. Natha

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 37

Nathaniel’s POVI sat in my office, staring at the stack of reports spread across my desk. The papers detailed everything from patrol schedules to supply inventories. I had been going over them for the last hour, but my focus kept slipping. The recent invasion had left some damage, but we were recovering. Duncan’s forces had been dealt with, and the borders were secure again. That wasn’t what was weighing on my mind.Alexander was.Even after everything, he still hadn’t given up his claim to the Alpha position. He had no right to it, not while my father was still alive and certainly not while I was the one handling pack affairs. But Alexander didn’t see it that way.I sighed and leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples. The constant power struggle was draining, and I didn’t have time for it.Before I could push the thought aside, my phone vibrated on the desk. I glanced at the screen. A message from my father. We need to meet in my office. Now.I stared at the words for a second be

Nathaniel’s POVI sat in my office, A large map lay spread before me, its worn edges curling slightly, but I wasn’t really looking at it anymore. My father’s words echoed in my head.Fix it.I leaned back, exhaling slowly. The Moonfury Pack had been a crucial ally for years. Losing their support wouldn’t just weaken us in numbers—it would send a message. One that said ForestHowl was vulnerable. One that invited others to question our strength. With Alexander already scheming and the recent attack still fresh in everyone’s mind, the last thing we needed was for Tommen to turn his back on us.But that was exactly what was happening. And I knew why.Shirleen.She had wanted the match. She had counted on it. I still remembered the way she had looked at me, her certainty so strong it had felt suffocating. To her, our futures had already been written. When my father arranged the match, she had been eager. Excited. Ready to claim what she thought was hers. But I had rejected her.For Phoebe

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 39

Phoebe's POV The quiet of the night settled over the packhouse, broken only by the occasional rustling of leaves outside. The day had been long, filled with training, whispered conversations, and quiet moments of reflection. But no matter how much I tried to distract myself, my mind kept returning to Nathaniel.Something about the way he had looked at me earlier—tense, unreadable—had settled into my bones, making it impossible to find peace.I pulled my blanket tighter around my shoulders and leaned against the wooden frame of my chair, staring at the flickering candlelight. The warm glow barely reached the edges of the room. Tonight, I was alone in my room. Sleep should have come easily after such an exhausting day, but my thoughts wouldn’t let me rest. And then, I heard it.Heavy footsteps.Slow but deliberate.I froze, every muscle in my body going still. The pack had already settled in for the night. The only ones who should be walking these halls were the guards, but even they

Phoebe’s POVThe room felt strangely quiet after Alexander left. His words still echoed in my mind, making it impossible to shake off the uneasy feeling settling in my chest. The way he had looked at me, so sure of himself, made my skin crawl.I took a deep breath, pressing my back against the closed door. My fingers still gripped the handle, as if expecting him to suddenly return. But the hallway was empty now.I knew I should try to sleep, but rest felt impossible. My thoughts were tangled with too many questions. How had he managed to get out so easily? What was he planning? And more than anything—why did he want me by his side?I pushed away from the door and moved toward the small table near my bed, where a flickering candle cast a soft glow over the room. I sat down, rubbing my arms absentmindedly. Then, another knock. This one was different—firm but not forceful. A familiar sound.Nathaniel.I swallowed, forcing my expression into something neutral before standing to open the d

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 41

THE GLASSFUR PACK Alpha Duncan’s POVThe hall was quiet except for the low voices between Antonio and me. The long wooden table stretched between us, covered with reports on patrol shifts, border tensions, and disputes that had come up in the last week. The candles on the walls flickered, casting a warm glow over the polished stone floor.Antonio leaned forward, tapping one of the reports. “The western patrol reported movement near the old border. They weren’t able to identify who it was, but they noticed signs of someone passing through the area.”I exhaled and set the paper down. “Rogues?”“Possibly. Or someone testing our defenses,” Antonio said. “Whoever it was, they didn’t stay long.”“Double the guards at night,” I ordered. “If anyone tries to cross, they don’t leave unchallenged.”Antonio nodded, making a note on the parchment in front of him. “I’ll inform the patrol leaders.”Before he could say anything else, the heavy doors swung open. The sound echoed through the hall, br

Alpha Duncan’s POVI liked to have those evening strolls around the pack house. In the past, it was Phoebe who went everywhere with me, trailed by my beta. But now, I only went around in the company of my beta, Antonio. He was a loyal one, and he gave me the most useful advice, but nothing could come close to the time when I had her by my side. She was everything one needed to run a pack. She was a voice that came constantly with wisdom.Antonio and I walked through the heart of the Glassfur pack, our boots moving in steady rhythm over the stone pathways. The scent of burning torches mixed with the damp earth, and the occasional flicker of firelight served as the only lighting for the walls. Warriors stood at their posts, their sharp eyes tracking our movements, their presence a quiet reminder of the strength I had built here.Yet, despite all I had, I could not silence the thought gnawing at me.Antonio didn’t speak, but I could feel him waiting. He did less talking and more listenin

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 43

Phoebe’s POVThe night air felt crisp as I sat by the window, looking down at the pack below. The buildings were quiet, most of the wolves already in their homes, resting for whatever tomorrow would bring. A few warriors stood guard, their movements steady and disciplined, but my eyes weren’t really focused on them.I had been here for weeks, yet something inside me still hesitated to call this place home.It wasn’t because of Nathaniel. He had done everything to make me feel like I belonged here. He had protected me, stood by my side, and made it clear that I was his choice. That I was meant to be here with him.But even now, I felt that lingering question pressing at the back of my mind.Did I truly belong here?“Why are you doubting again?” Mia, my wolf, sighed in my mind. Her presence was warm, steady, but there was frustration in her voice.“It’s not doubt,” I answered, though even I wasn’t sure if that was the truth. “It’s just... I’ve never belonged anywhere. Glassfur wasn’t ho

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 44

Phoebe’s POVThe journey to the Moonfury Pack had been long and exhausting, but I kept my thoughts to myself as we finally approached the gates. Just as Nathaniel had said, we'd had to rise very early to prepare to leave. Even till the last minute, he had wanted to dissuade me. He'd asked me over and over again if I really did wanted to come and when I replied that it'd be better if he stopped asking me, seeing that I'd already made up my mind to go with him, he'd simply said, “I'm just worried things might get unpleasant and I don't want you to be caught up in any of that unpleasantness.”But he got the reply he knew he'd get. I wasn't afraid of whatever he was referring to as unpleasantness and I told him so. The towering walls of the packhouse loomed before us, guarded by several warriors. The moment Nathaniel and I stepped forward, I felt their eyes on me.They weren’t just watching. They were judging.Everyone here had expected Nathaniel to marry Shirleen, the Alpha’s daughter.

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 101

Nathaniel's POVThe knock came just after sunrise. This time, I was dressed and waiting. I didn’t sleep much the night before. The guard at my door gave a small nod and said, “It’s time.”I followed him without asking questions. We walked down a different hallway today, one that led away from the main rooms. The floor here was older, the stones uneven and darker than the rest. The air felt heavy. We came to a large wooden door. Two guards opened it as we approached. Cold air blew in at once. I stepped outside and found myself standing in a stone courtyard. The sky above was gray, no sign of sun.High stone walls surrounded the entire space. The walls were rough and worn, but clean. Guards stood at every edge. They held their weapons tight and watched the center of the courtyard. There was a platform in the middle. It was raised a few feet off the ground, with wide wooden steps leading up to it. A long block stood near the center of the platform, shaped for one thing. A heavy axe reste

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 100

Nathaniel's POV Someone knocked on my door before the sun came up. I was already awake, sitting by the window, watching the sky shift from dark to gray. I stood and opened the door. A young guard stood outside, eyes fixed ahead.“Alpha Throndsen would like to see you,” he said.“Now?” I asked.“Yes. He said it’s important.”I didn’t ask more. I changed quickly, pulled on my coat, and followed the guard through the cold halls. The stones under our feet were wet with morning frost. The silence between us lasted the entire walk. We moved past the sleeping halls, past the main courtyard, and through a set of tall wooden doors. Two more guards opened them without a word.Inside, Throndsen waited. He stood by the long window at the far end of the room. The light outside was still faint, but it spilled in just enough to show his face. This time, he didn’t wear his usual polite smile. His hands were behind his back, and he didn’t speak right away. The guard left and closed the door behind me

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 99

Nathaniel's POV The next morning, I stepped outside the guest quarters. The wind was colder than the day before, and the sky was gray. The ground was hard under my boots, and the cliffs stood far in the distance like stone walls. I walked slowly through the Silver-Coast Pack’s territory, taking in everything. The people I passed did not smile. They did not seem to have any message in their eyes. And even if they did, they didn't seem eager to share it to the alpha who had come to them for want of information. They simply moved in directions that they had business in.Most of them did not even look up. They moved quickly and quietly, as if they were afraid of being watched. Or even caught. The guards stood straight at every corner. Their eyes didn’t move unless I spoke to them first. Even then, they only answered with short words. No one joked. No one laughed. It wasn’t like the Star-Rain Pack, where people tried too hard to impress. Here, everything was quiet. Too quiet.I kept walki

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 98

Nathaniel's POVThe road leading to the Silver-Coast Pack was silent. I rode slowly, my eyes fixed on the cliffs in the distance. The wind blew colder here. Even my wolf, Sean, didn’t speak much as we approached the gates. The guards stood in a straight line, quiet and still. Their faces gave nothing away. No movement, no expression. It was like they were made of stone. The gates opened with a heavy sound. No one gave an order, but the guards moved in perfect steps. I stayed on my horse until I saw the man coming toward me. He was tall, his steps slow and steady. He had grey hair at the sides and sharp eyes. I knew right away who he was.“Alpha Throndsen,” I said as I got down from my horse. He didn’t answer at once. He looked at me for a long time, as if he was reading something written on my face. Then he spoke. “Nathaniel. Welcome to Silver-Coast.”His voice was quiet but firm. He nodded to a man beside him, who stepped forward and took the reins of my horse.“Come,” Throndsen said

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 97

Phoebe's POV The next day, I sat at my table, flipping through the records again. The papers were old in some places, newer in others. Some had Nathaniel’s handwriting, and others were mine. There were notes on supplies, guard shifts, and patrol reports. I tried to focus on them, but my head ached from reading too much. I leaned back in the chair and rubbed my forehead slowly. The knock on my door came all of a sudden. I didn’t expect anyone.I frowned. “Come in.”The door opened, and Kara stepped inside. Her hair was tied back today. Her clothes looked cleaner than the last time I saw her. She had a strange look on her face—like she had something important to say. I didn’t trust her. I never did.I sighed and didn’t bother to hide my frown. “What do you want, Kara?”“I need to talk to you,” she said. Her tone was calm. “I found out something. I think it’s important. I came to share it with you. It’s for the good of the pack.”I crossed my arms. “Really? You suddenly care about the p

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 94

Phoebe's POV I stood at the edge of the training grounds. The wind was light, and the sounds of fists hitting practice pads, swords clashing, and feet moving over the dirt filled the air. I didn't say anything. I just watched. My arms were crossed over my chest, and my eyes followed the movements of the younger warriors. Some of them were still learning how to hold their balance. Others moved with more skill. I didn’t know if any of them saw me standing there, and I didn’t care if they did.Mia, my wolf, stayed quiet in my head. She was calm, but I knew she was watching too. We both needed this quiet moment. The day had already been long, and it wasn’t even close to night yet.I didn’t want to think about Elizabeth. I didn’t want to think about what Alpha Darius had said. I didn’t want to think about anything at all. I only wanted to be outside, where the air was fresh and the noise wasn’t coming from arguments. But of course, peace never lasted long.I heard footsteps behind me. The

Phoebe's POV Elizabeth walked beside me like we were friends. She didn’t say much, only looked ahead and walked with her usual proud steps. I didn’t say anything either. I kept my hands at my sides and focused on the hallway in front of us. The silence between us was tight, but she acted like there was nothing wrong.“She's mastered the art of pretense,” Mia whispered in my head. I shrugged off the thought because I didn't want to settle on it. True, I've come to learn that despite how much Elizabeth had always disliked me, she tried to make sure she didn't show this when Nathaniel was anywhere close, except for the occasions when it became unbearable and she just had to show how much she didn't like me.I'd made peace with the fact that she was never going to like me and I didn't bother to do much to get her to like me. She made it seem like it was Nathaniel that she really loved while she was siding with Alexander. She was the tricky sister indeed and Nathaniel didn't deserve a si
