Phoebe’s POV

The journey back to the pack house was quiet, but the silence wasn’t peaceful.

Nathaniel’s grip on my wrist hadn’t loosened since we left Duncan’s territory. He didn’t look at me, didn’t speak, but his body was rigid with something heavy and unspoken.

The others trailed behind us, giving their Alpha space. They had seen what he had done tonight—how he had torn through Duncan’s warriors like a beast unleashed.

And they knew this wasn’t over.

Neither did I.

My body ached from exhaustion, my mind swirled with too many emotions, but one thing stood above the rest.

Nathaniel was angry.

Not just at Duncan.

At me.

By the time we reached the pack house, the weight of the night pressed down on me, and I just wanted to breathe, to be alone, to make sense of everything. But the second the heavy doors shut behind us, Nathaniel yanked me toward him.

I barely had time to react before my back hit the cold stone wall.

He loomed over me, his breath coming in sharp, controlled exhales. His

Phoebe's POVI scrubbed the counters harder, the veins in my hands bulging. They were clean but I didn't stop.Mark sat behind me on a swing chair and I could feel his eyes almost drilling a hole on my back. He cracked open a beer.He took a swig tossing the empty bottle at my feet. It shattered on the floor, but I didn't flinch. I already knew he was just trying to get me to retaliate so he could get me into trouble.Since I moved in with my uncle, his father three months ago, he made it his mission to make my life unbearable.“Hurry up, you jinx.”Mark said behind me.I didn't bother to look back at him. I kept scrubbing.Going back and forth with him was useless. I was here because his father, my uncle, was a good man. Even if he didn't try to defend me or call Mark to order. He picked a brush from the floor and threw it at me. I tilted my head away.“I've done nothing wrong to you, Mark. Leave me the hell alone,” I snapped, clenching my fists. He walked towards me angrily, his ey

Nathaniel’s POV Phoebe pulled her arm away quickly.“I don’t know this Alec guy you’re talking about," she said, her voice steady.I stared at her, unable to look away. There was something about her—her sharp eyes, the stubborn tilt of her chin, the way her voice stayed calm even though I could tell she was nervous. My wolf stirred inside me, growling softly in approval. There was an undeniable pull between us.I gulped and asked, my voice low. “You felt it too, didn't you? We are mates.Phoebe’s lips pressed into a thin line. “I know what I am,” she said, meeting my eyes. She looked away from me, rubbing her hand unconsciously. I wanted to hold her hand and tell her to relax.“It’s impossible for someone like me to be your Luna. I’m an outcast. I’m ready for your rejection.”She said suddenly.I didn’t see that coming. I did so much to get her to come to me, that's not what I wanted to hear. When I thought about all this because of Duncan, I started to get angry. But I'm one of t

Phoebe's POV When I got back home, Uncle was sitting by the counter, going over his old notebook. It was filled with his notes about stock and finances for the cafeteria. He looked up when I entered, his eyes going to the red stain on my arm that'd appeared there from Nathaniel's strong grip earlier.“What happened, Phoebe?” he asked, concern lacing his tone.I tried to sound casual. “I got hurt while training. It’s no big deal. It’ll heal soon.”Uncle didn’t look convinced. He got up and walked closer, his brow furrowed deeply. “You shouldn’t push yourself too hard. Training isn’t worth getting injured like this.”“I’m fine,” I said quickly, trying to brush it off. “Really.”He stared at me for a long moment, then sighed. “You’ve always been stubborn,” he muttered.I hesitated before speaking again. “Uncle, please let me pay rent. I’m staying here, eating your food, and working in your cafeteria. It’s only fair.”He shook his head firmly. “I told you before. I can’t take your rent.

Nathaniel's POV The whip cracked against my back, and I clenched my teeth to keep from making a sound. My father, Alpha of one of the strongest packs in the region, stood before me, fury radiating from him. This wasn’t the first time I’d been on the receiving end of his anger, but it didn’t make it any easier.“How dare you make such a decision without consulting me?” he barked, his voice echoing in his study. I didn't speak until he was done venting his angerWhen the punishment was done, he tossed the whip aside and crossed his arms. “Stand up and explain yourself.”I pushed myself to my feet, my back throbbing with each movement. My father’s eyes bored into mine, demanding an answer. “I did it because it was the best decision for the pack,” I began, keeping my voice steady. “Father, you’ve been planning to take control of other packs gradually. But with every new territory we gain, management becomes harder. There have already been signs that our resources are stretched too thin

Nathaniel's POVI walked into the pack house, Phoebe was sitting on the couch, staring out the window. Her hair caught the light, and she looked peaceful. I hadn’t expected her to be here or to have her wait here for me, but seeing her there made me stop for a moment."Phoebe... how're you doing?” I asked, stepping closer. "Looks like I’m okay,” she said with a shrug. Before I could respond, she cut me off, her words sharp and to the point. “What is this all about, Nathaniel?” Her tone wasn’t just questioning—it was desperate, demanding.I stopped in my tracks, raising one eyebrow in question and she rolled her eyes. I knew she meant the mating ceremony. I didn’t want to talk about it. Admitting I had planned to mate with someone else would only make things worse. So I kept my face calm and walked closer to her. “What do you mean?” I asked, She scoffed, “Don’t play dumb. The mating ceremony. You didn’t plan this, did you? Or were you just waiting for the perfect moment to humilia

Phoebe's POVI woke up feeling like my head was spinning. For a few seconds, I didn’t know where I was. The ceiling above me was unfamiliar, and the bed felt different. Panic crept in as I tried to sit up, but my body felt heavy. Where was I?I closed my eyes and tried to think. Slowly, pieces of the previous day came back to me. Nathaniel. His face. His lips on mine. His arms held me as he guided me… somewhere. Before I could figure it out, there was a knock on the door. I froze, unsure of what to say. A moment later, a maid stepped in, carrying a tray.“Good morning, Miss Phoebe,” she said politely, placing the tray on a small table beside the bed.I rubbed my eyes and pushed myself up. “Why am I here?” I asked, my voice cracking. The maid hesitated, her hands fiddling with the edge of her apron. “You were at the dinner table with the alpha's family last night, Miss,” she said carefully. “Lord Nathaniel brought you here so you could rest.”“You were….um, you had a little too much

Phoebe's POVNathaniel left with his father and two brothers early in the morning. I had watched him mount his horse, his face set in a serious expression. The treaty with the Moonfury pack was important, and the Alpha wanted all his sons to be involved in the negotiations.Nathaniel was leaving me with people who didn't even like me. I took a deep breath.“I’ll be back by evening,” Nathaniel had whispered as he came to stand next to me. .I nodded. “Good luck. I hope the peace treaty lasts.”Before he could leave, Elizabeth stepped forward, arms crossed. “What about our training today in the fields, Nathaniel? You promised to help me today.” He sighed. “Elizabeth, I’ll help you tomorrow. Today is important. We have to leave with father in a matter of minutes.”“You always say that,” she snapped. “But you never follow through. Fine, let Phoebe help me instead.”Nathaniel’s brows furrowed. “No, I—”“It’s settled,” the Alpha interrupted, his deep voice cutting through the conversatio

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 8

Nathaniel's POVI returned to the pack house after the meeting at Moonfury pack, and I hoped Elizabeth hadn't given Phoebe a hard time. The warriors guarding the house were tense, whispering among themselves. One of them approached me, his expression grim.“Nathaniel,” he said, his voice low, “there was an attack.”My heart sank. “What happened?”“Rogues,” he said. “They ambushed the group at the training grounds. Elizabeth and Phoebe are missing. The others with them seemed to have escaped together and got back here.”I didn’t wait to hear more. How could the ones I'd left to take care of Phoebe and Elizabeth come back unhurt when the people I'd charged them to protect were missing. Without a word, I shifted into my wolf form and raced toward the training grounds. My brother followed, and soon, other warriors joined us. We raced for the training grounds and for the first time, I caught myself wondering how in the world the training grounds happened to be so far away from the royal

Phoebe's POVThe night air was thick with the scent of pine and damp earth. The wind whispered through the trees, rustling the leaves as I stood frozen near the riverbank. The moon cast a pale glow over the water, making it shimmer like silver.Duncan stood a few feet away, his golden eyes locked onto mine, unblinking. His presence was suffocating, his stance tense but unreadable.“We can leave now,” he said, voice low but firm. “Just you and me. No more hiding. No more pretending to be someone you’re not.”I swallowed, my hands curling into fists at my sides. “I’m not pretending.”He exhaled sharply, stepping closer. “Yes, you are. This isn’t you, Phoebe. You don’t belong here.”“I belong where I choose,” I said. His mouth pressed into a thin line. “And you’re choosing him?”The question hung in the air, heavy and suffocating.I didn’t answer right away. His jaw clenched. “You think Nathaniel can protect you? Phoebe's POVThe grand hall shimmered with golden lights, the air thick with the scent of flowers and burning candles. Wolves from every part of the pack had gathered, their eyes fixed on Nathaniel and me as we stood before the elders. The ceremony was about to begin.I stood beside him, hands clenched at my sides. The dress they had given me felt too heavy, the weight of expectations pressing down. This wasn’t how I imagined it. This wasn’t my choice.Nathaniel’s voice cut through the silence. “We stand here today to honor the bond—”The doors burst open. The scent of blood hit first. Then the screams. The room erupted into chaos as warriors poured in, their fangs bared, their claws slicing through anything in their way.I spun just as a wolf lunged toward me. I ducked, slamming my elbow into his ribs before grabbing a fallen sword from the ground. Nathaniel’s growl echoed through the hall as he charged into battle, his wolf bursting free.I had no time to think. No time to breathe.

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 17

Nathaniel's POVThe old records lay scattered across my desk, the worn edges curling from time. I wasn’t sure what I had been looking for at first—some explanation, some answer to the nagging feeling that wouldn’t leave me alone.Phoebe had secrets. That much had always been clear. But now, staring at the name in the report, my hands clenched into fists. She didn't care to let me in on her life and how things were going in her life. She didn't care about the opinions of her I had. It didn't matter how many times I told her that she was mine and would always be mine, she was set in her own ways and she didn't cease to let me see just how strong-willed she was.I stared at the name again, my hands running through the pages again.Alec.A name whispered in war stories. A name feared among packs. A name I had once thought belonged to a ruthless strategist, a ghost of battle.Yet here, in these reports, was the truth.Alec was Phoebe. Or was this simply what I had led myself to believe? W

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 16

Nathaniel's POVThe tension in the pack house had grown thick, lingering in the air like an approaching storm. The warriors had seen too much. The elders had seen too much. And I had seen too much.Phoebe wasn’t just a fighter—she was something else entirely. The way she had commanded warriors, moved with precision, and taken down an elite rogue as if it was nothing… It wasn’t something she had learned overnight. I knew this and I also knew that if I tried to press her to give me answers to the question I had in my head, she would shy away.Perhaps, she had not intended to be on the spotlight, but then, for fighting so gallantly, she could not also be ignored. She had been seen by everyone and the reactions were similar. And now, everyone wanted answers.I strode through the halls, my mind racing with questions I didn’t want to ask but couldn’t ignore. The whispers followed me, pack members murmuring about what they had witnessed. I caught words like unnatural, dangerous, and who is s

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 15

Nathaniel’s POVThe attack came without warning. No one would have guessed that an attack was on its way to the pack. It had never happened in that fashion. Only days back, my father had been talking about the security of the pack and the measures that were to be taken to ensure the pack was constantly safe and at peace as it had always been. One moment, the pack house was peaceful. The next, an alarm howled through the air.I got off my chair in a moment of alarmed surprise. I bolted outside, my wolf thrumming beneath my skin as warriors rushed to their positions. The guards were shouting commands at each other and the pack house moved from a safe haven to a place that was only full of confusion for the next few minutes. And then I got the information of what was going on in the pack house. Rogues. At least twenty of them, maybe more, had entered the pack lands and were now about to wreak havoc on the pack. My wolf was already in action, this was something I couldn't hold back on.

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 14

Nathaniel's POVPhoebe hadn’t spoken since Duncan left. She walked ahead of me, her arms crossed, her steps quick and tense. Her shoulders were stiff, and I knew she was trying to avoid this conversation.Too bad.“Let's leave her alone for the meantime, maybe that's what she wants,” my wolf muttered within me. I rejected the idea before it fully made sense to me. I shook my head. She had quickened her pace now and I was still following her, my strides were longer but I didn't want to overtake her.“We don't have to leave her alone simply because she wants to be left alone. There are things that must be dealt with whether or not we want to deal with them.” My voice was almost a hush. Too low for her to hear, but she turned around once and our eyes met briefly. She didn't stop walking.Whatever she'd heard, she didn't want to make it sound like it was any business of hers.Duncan had been in my pack and no matter how hard I wanted to ignore that and act like it hadn't happened, I could

Nathaniel's POVThe night was quiet. A soft breeze moved through the trees, rustling the leaves above the garden. I had been inside the pack house, speaking with my father about security, when a strange unease settled in my chest. Something wasn’t right.“We will have the borders strengthened and we'll speak with a few other security officers in the pack so we can know the measures to take for our security….” I heard my father saying, but I wasn't paying full attention to what he was saying. He looked up at me as I got off the chair I was sitting and walked to the window.“We won't be taking chances here.. we've never been attacked and it won't ever happen. That's because we don't even give our enemies a chance to infiltrate our pack. We must keep it that way,” he said.I didn't say anything, but when I turned around and saw that his eyes were on me, I nodded. He was right and I understood what he was saying, but I wasn't exactly paying full attention.“You know, as the next Alpha of

  • Mated To The Enemy Alpha   Chapter 12

Nathaniel's POVThe training grounds were packed with wolves from every corner of the pack. The elders stood in a semi-circle, their faces unreadable as they waited for Phoebe to step forward. The air was thick with anticipation, whispers moving through the crowd like a wave.Phoebe stood tall, her expression calm. If she was nervous, she didn’t show it.I crossed my arms, standing beside my father as the first elder spoke.“We will test Phoebe’s strength, intelligence, and leadership,” Elder Marcus announced. His sharp gaze swept over her. “The Luna must be more than just a title. She must be worthy.”Elizabeth, standing with a group of warriors, smirked. “If she even lasts the first test.”I clenched my jaw but said nothing. I wanted to see how Phoebe would handle this. I knew she was strong and I had confidence in her. The first challenge was combat. Phoebe stepped into the sparring ring, facing off against an experienced warrior named Luke. He was skilled but not the best—this wa
