*Jaxon's POV*
My grip was firm on Piper's hand. I wasn't giving her any opportunity to pull away. She was going to be mine and I planned to make that clear. The first order of business was to get her home where she can take a shower. She had Matteo's scent all over her from that hug. I didn't like seeing his arms around my mate.
I let out a low growl to myself just at the thought of it again.
My growl caused Piper to look at me for a moment. When I looked back at her and our eyes met she looked away quickly. I knew she was trying to avoid the feelings of desire when she looked at me. She didn't want to give into it. With time I was confident that would change.
We led ourselves back through the woods we had come in. We had brought our cars as the drive from our pack territory was long. We needed to conserve our energy for the fight we had anticipated. However, by a strange twist of events that fight never really came. We only ended up hurting one person from the pack I set out to eradicate.
I glanced down at Piper beside me. She was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Her dark brown hair may have been in a ponytail right now but I could tell it was long and those blue eyes. They were the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen. And then there was her scent. It was addicting and I couldn't get enough of it.
She was clearly younger than me. She was twenty from what I gathered from the meeting with Alpha Bradley. I was twenty five so we did have a little bit of a gap but that wouldn't be a problem at all. We were mates so we could make it work.
Her hand remained in mine. Her touch made me feel warm inside and sent excitement through my body. A feeling that I hadn't really ever felt with anyone else. With her hand in mine though I could sense her other emotions. She was confused, angry but also had some excitement. It was an interesting mix.
"Alpha Jaxon can't we shift to make it back to the cars faster?" Scott, one of my pack members, groaned out.
"No." I responded shortly. "I can't let our new member shift and try to run away."
Piper looked up at me in slight shock. I could tell from her emotions and the look on her face what she had been thinking. She didn't think she'd be caught but she wasn't that hard to read for me. I heard that you could tell how your mate was feeling or what they were thinking sometimes. Of course due to the circumstances I figured she probably would think of trying to escape.
To her I was the bad guy. If only she had known the whole truth. There were so many things she didn't know. Things that involved her own pack. She was set to be their luna but was clueless as to what Alpha Bradley and a few of the other elders had been up to. Eventually the truth would come out, it always does.
"Are you sure?" Scott groaned once more.
Nikko, my beta stopped and turned around. "We aren't shifting, shut up and let's keep moving. It's not that much farther." He spoke sternly.
"Fine." Scott mumbled under his breath.
"Where are we going?" Piper asked as she looked up at me.
I could feel the desire for her go through me. I wanted to take her right here and right now. I wanted to feel her hands all over me as I had my way with her. I wanted her claws to dig into my back as I pounded myself into her over and over. I could see she wanted it too, no matter how hard she tried to hide it.
For now I needed to hold back. She was already stand-offish towards me thanks to the things she had heard. She had heard a few lies mixed in with the truth. I was indeed a rogue wolf at one point but not by my choice. Now I was the alpha to one of the biggest packs around. We were feared by about half the packs around and respected by the rest.
"I'm taking you to my home." I answered.
I could see her face mix with emotions again. I knew she didn't like that she had left the life she had known. She had left the man she decided to mate with for someone she had been taught to hate. The fact that Matteo marked her as his really pissed me off if I'm being honest. Just because he couldn't find his mate doesn't mean he had the right to mark someone else's.I planned to fix that though. I purposely left out the feeling she and I had towards each other when the exchange was discussed. I didn't need Matteo to know that Piper and I were fated mates. He would just get in the way of things and that's not what I needed. Once I had Piper as mine then I had plans to go back and face him and the rest of their pack.I wouldn't kill them, as promised for the trade of Piper. But they needed to be dealt with. Their pack needed to have some change in management. Either from a new alpha that wasn't from Bradley's bloodline as Matteo knew exactly what was going on, or they needed to join an existing pack once theirs had been dealt with. Either way the Moon Stone pack will be no more once I'm done with them.I was pleased that Piper didn't protest my answer to her question. I could tell she was stubborn and a fighter. I suspected my touch made her calm and more open to the idea. That or she was a damn good actress. I couldn't rule out that she was behaving until she had a chance to run.Our cars finally came into view. I led Piper to my red Jeep Wrangler. I helped her into the passenger side and then came around to the driver side. Nikko stayed next to the passenger seat door while he waited for me to get situated. Once I was he got into the back behind Piper, just in case she tried anything.I started the Jeep and began the drive home. "You're quiet now. You had a lot to say at your pack house. Why so silent now?" I cocked an eyebrow at her."I don't have much to say to you." She spoke coldly as she looked out the window."Why didn't you tell him about our connection?" I was curious to see what she would say. She had the opportunity to tell Matteo how she felt but she didn't. She seemed to hide it well from him as well, she was marked so he should've picked up on something."I don't know what you're talking about." She glared. I could feel she was trying to be angry but she was mainly just confused.Nikko scoffed in the back seat. He had been there to witness when our eyes met each other."Oh really blue eyes?" I smirked. "That kiss said differently. I know you feel what I feel. The sooner you embrace the better we'll get along."She looked at me and I could tell she was blushing. "That was a mistake. I'm Matteo's. He marked me. There's nothing you can do about it." She was trying to hold her ground but I knew she was struggling."Really? You want to bet I can't do anything about it?" I asked in an amused tone. She was going to be challenging. I could sense she would be but it sent excitement through me. I never wanted an easy mate. I didn't want a luna who did whatever I asked. I wanted the challenge. I wanted to have a luna that could think outside of the box and make important decisions. She was perfect for my ideal luna."Sure." She crossed her arms over her chest. "If you can't find a way to do anything about it then you have to let me go home. Where I belong.""Fine." I agreed. "Two months, if I can't find a way to take his mark off of you then I'll let you go. But if I can, you're mine forever."I could tell she was nervous about making this deal. As she should be. I had information that she did not. The Moon Stone pack had kept their wolves very sheltered. They only gave them the information that they wanted to have. She wouldn't win this bet but I could let her have her fun. It could also maybe help her loosen up around me. If she was more welcoming we could talk more. We could build our own bond up and then when the time came she would be willing to get rid of that disgusting mark from Matteo."You're really not going to tell her?" Nikko mind linked with me so Piper didn't hear his question."Nope. What she doesn't know won't kill her." I glanced in the rearview mirror and my eyes met Nikko's.I noticed a smirk cross his lips as we closed the mind link connection. He also knew the information I did. He knew this was a deal that was practically set up for me to win. But that would stay between us. Piper would learn about it eventually."But I have one condition to this deal." I spoke up once more as I focused on the road. She seemed to get a little more nervous in her tone. "What's that?""While I do my research into this I need you to be open to the fact that we are fated to be together. Regardless how you feel the Moon Goddess has a reason for putting us together." I glanced at her and then went back to the road. "That means neither of us can reject the other until the two months is up."I felt myself feel a little uneasy at the mention of the word rejection. It was a fear but I couldn't let myself think of it as a possibility. No, I wouldn't let it be a possibility. I was going to make her mine and while she was bonded to Matteo he was going to feel every bit of it. He would know every time I touched her body. By the time I'm done he'd be begging for his mark to be off of her.It would be the perfect karma for him. He shouldn't have touched my mate. After thinking it over Piper finally let out a sigh. "Fine, no rejection until your time is up. You have my word."*Piper's POV* "Wake up blue eyes." Jaxon's voice spoke. My eyes opened and I had to face this was not a bad dream I was having. I was still stuck in this damn jeep with Jaxon and his beta. I looked around and noticed that the darkness seemed to have subsided and been replaced by daylight. I had tried staying awake but in the end I caved into sleeping. "Where are we?" I asked. Jaxon parked the jeep. "Welcome to your new home." He smirked as he looked over at me. "This isn't my home." I glared. "This is just a two month visit. Then I can go back to my real home." "Sure." His smirk grew wider. He opened his door to the jeep and got out. Nikko followed behind him. I let out a frustrated sigh to myself. Jaxon's scent was still in the car and I loved the smell. That was a problem. "Don't give in." I mumbled to myself. The passenger door opened. "Are you coming?" Jaxon asked as his hazel eyes looked me over intensely. My breathing grew heavier as I could feel the excitement within m
*Piper's POV* "Piper! What are you doing?!" Matteo's voice came through and brought me back to reality.I opened my eyes. I felt horrified with myself. I gave in to Jaxon too easily. He raised himself off and I felt the fight within me. I pushed him off of me. He was confused as he didn't expect my reaction considering what I just let him do. I moved myself as far as I could to the other end of the bed and wrapped myself in the red sheets."Stop!" I shouted. "How could you make me do that?!"He thought for a moment with a serious look on his face. His hazel eyes looked into mine. "Piper, I didn't force you." He stood up from the bed. "I don't know what you've heard but I would never force someone into that, especially my mate. You acted on your own desires."I was silent as I glared at him.He sighed. "Why don't you take a shower? I'll come get you when the food is ready."I kept my silence. He could tell he wasn't going to get anywhere with me on this right now. He turned and left t
*Jaxon's POV*I exited the room quickly and headed down to my office. When my pack members had found out I returned with a new member people started talking. Some were scared at what this meant, others said I had made a huge mistake. I called this meeting as I needed to set them all straight. The gossip going around would get mixed up as it went along and it would do more harm than good.My members needed to be open to the idea of accepting Piper as a leader. She's my mate and I'm their alpha. If they disrespected her it would be like disrespecting me as well. Together I knew she and I could do amazing things for the Dark Moon pack. It would just take some time for us to get there.I opened the door to the office where my members were waiting for me. I shut the door behind me and headed for the seat of my desk. "I figured we would meet here and then I will address the rest of the pack." I spoke as I took my seat.I had only called the pack members I needed to help keep people from tal
*Piper's POV*Three days. I sat here for three days thinking about his question. For the most part he gave me my space during this time without me needing to ask for it. Part of me was grateful for the distance he was giving me, but part of me got excited every time I could smell his scent coming closer to the bedroom. He'd come in and do what he needed and then leave, which in return made me feel disappointed. Curse this damn mate bond we had.I let out a frustrated sigh. After these three days of thinking I still was coming up blank. I couldn't remember a damn thing before being with other children. I never thought too much of it before. How could I worry about parents I had no proof of even having? But everyone comes from somewhere. Where were my parents? Someone had been responsible for giving me life. I felt a little guilty that I never worried about it until now. Something must've happened to them, or to me. Whatever it was Jaxon seemed to know something about it or he wouldn't
*Piper's POV*I sat on the bed for a while after Jaxon had left the room. I had gotten caught up in the moment with him. I knew it was dangerous to be close to him and I slipped up. After he left I could feel the shame and regret develop inside of myself.I felt dirty. All I wanted to do was talk and that didn't happen. This was unacceptable behavior. I never acted on impulse like this, usually I had been able to really think things through. Of course back at Moon Stone I hadn't been around my fated mate.I could tell I was in over my head. Jaxon made my body feel things I've never experienced before. Things not even Matteo could make me feel. I had never just wanted to rip off his pants and just please him. With Jaxon though, at that moment it was the only thing I could think about and I was on a mission to make it happen.I crawled out of the bed and grabbed a change of clothes. I could smell Jaxon all over me still. While it did help keep me calm about what we just did it also made
*Jaxon's POV*"Jaxon... Jaxon." Nikko called out to get my attention."Sorry." I apologized for zoning out. "I was mind linking with Piper.""I see." He responded and a smirk crossed his lips. "Are you ready to get back to the matter at hand or are you needing to go tend to your mate?""I'll be tending to her later." I knew what he was getting at so I shot him a warning glance. The only warning he would get to not press the matter any further than he already had."Very well." He cleared his throat. "The pack is wondering what the next plan of action is towards Moon Stone. They don't like that they have been let off the hook.""Have I not made it clear enough that Moon Stone is still on my shit list?" There was a slight annoyance in my voice. The pack seemed to think because I had found a mate from the enemy pack that I had lost all my common sense."You have. They're still just worried about what effect Piper might have. Like what if she happens to convince you to let Moon Stone go?"
*Piper's POV* I waited patiently for Jaxon to return. This time we were going to actually talk. I refuse to let anything further happen with him. No matter how he made me feel I couldn't let it get the best of me. Giving in to him couldn't be an option right now.The door to the room opened and Jaxon stood by as the food for the both of us was brought in by a few of the pack members. They set it up on the table and left quickly. He shut the door behind them which left him and I alone."Sit. Let's eat." He motioned to the chair for me as he made his way to sit down.I got up from the couch and joined him at the table. Tonight it appeared a roast had been prepared. It was served with a side of salad and mashed potatoes. I started digging in as I was hungrier than I had anticipated."Worked up quite the appetite there?" Jaxon asked in an amused tone.I shot him daggers with my eyes as I swallowed the bite of food I had taken. "Shut up or I'll stab you with the fork.""Kinky." He smirked
*Piper's POV*"I still don't think this is a good idea." Jaxon spoke as we waited for Nikko to bring something up that Jaxon requested."I'll be the judge of that." I responded as I sat on the couch with my arms folded across my chest."I think we should wait a little longer." I could sense he was still apprehensive about the thought of sharing everything he had with me."You say you're the one I should trust right?" I asked."Yes." He answered."Then prove it Jaxon. If you want to get anywhere with me Jaxon you need to prove yourself and tell me the truth." I felt like it was a perfectly good reason. If the truth was really on his side then this was an advantage to him.He nodded in response. "You're absolutely right." He finally agreed with me."I'm glad we can finally agree on something then." I responded. There was a knock on the room door. Jaxon went and answered it. I watched as he stepped into the hall. Clearly he was talking with Nikko for a moment. I attempted to listen in bu
I was startled by the frantic pounding on my bedroom door. I stood up from my chair and made my way over to it. I already knew it was probably my best friend Alli. There really wasn't anyone else it could be.I open the door and I can see right away she's been crying by the mascara that streams down her face. This had to mean we had lost another one."Did she get Micheal?" My voice shook as I asked her.She nodded her head in response.I grab her arm and lead her into my bedroom. I shut the door behind us as we needed to have our privacy for this. Not that anyone would believe us if they had heard our conversation."Talk to me." I spoke as I guided her to sit down on my bed.She was breathing frantically and I could see she was trying to calm herself down. Her blue eyes looked into mine filled with nothing but fear. A feeling that I had come to know too well these last few days."Kira." She spoke my name quietly in a voice filled with emotion."Tell me what happened Alli." I attempted
"The usual?" Elijah asks as he stands in front of me on the other side of the bar. He was tall with short dark hair and some stubble on his face."You know me so well." I shot him a devious smirk as I moved some of my chocolate brown hair over my shoulder."Well I sure would hope I do by now Violet." He responds as he pours my favorite drink into a glass for me. He then proceeds to hand it over to me while looking me up and down, noticing the revealing black dress I was wearing. "Did you come down here for business or pleasure tonight?"I took a sip from the glass and set it on the counter. "I haven't decided yet. But you'll know within the next hour or so I'm sure." I gave him another smirk."That doesn't sound very promising." He cocked an eyebrow. "Do you ever take a night off Vee?""Only when I feel like it, but I enjoy it so much I'd almost consider it more of a hobby than actually working." I answered. "Besides, the more I put in the happier our boss is and that makes life a lit
What started out as a fun night ended up becoming something I wasn't prepared for. Alison, my closest friend, decided it was time to get me out of my apartment. My boyfriend had broken up with me two weeks ago and I had refused to leave my home ever since. We had been together for years but he decided that someone else had caught his attention. It was hard on me. He had helped me get through so much and then in the end, he left. Just like everyone else had seemed to. I was just barely feeling okay again. It was a struggle but I was making it through the best I could.I straightened my strawberry blonde hair. I then put on some makeup so I felt at least somewhat decent. I put on a black spaghetti strapped dress and then looked myself over in the mirror. I looked good, the first time I had any confidence since the break up."Maci are you ready?" Alison called out as she entered the apartment. She had a spare key so she could come and go as she pleased."Yeah." I answered as I exited my
"I have to get going." Ellie spoke as she stood up from the couch. Her long light brown hair hung down to her waist and she looked back at me with her brown eyes. "Sorry, Liv. It's just that time of night.""You leave at seven in the evening on the dot every night." I groaned at my best friend. "You know you've always been a killjoy. We've just graduated and we're supposed to be living our best lives. But here you are needing to be home so early.""I know." She chuckled to help lighten the mood. "I'll see you tomorrow?"I let out a small sigh. "Yes.""Awesome." Ellie smiled right before leaving the room.It was the strangest thing. She could not stay anywhere later than seven. No matter where we were she would leave. It could be something like a football game or even just a store trip. She had been my best friend for ten years and we never once had a sleepover. We never had a girls night. There was never enough time.I got up from the couch and headed into the bathroom. I put my red h
"Fiona!" His dark voice echoed as he called out my name. "You can't hide forever, you have no where to go."+He was right. We were on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean. What was supposed to be an all adult getaway had became a nightmare. Everyone else was dead. I was the only passenger left because I had caught on that something wasn't right with Jackson. He was attractive and charming, but a little too charming. The moment he introduced himself to my group of friends everyone loved him. They let their guards down. That's where they went wrong.I could feel my heart practically stop as his eyes met mine. I had been moving from place to place to stay hidden. But I made the mistake of hiding under the bed."Got ya." A devious smile crossed his lips and he proceeded to yank me out of hiding."Let me go you asshole!" I shouted as I tried to hit his hands away."Why shout? No one alive can hear you." He responded.Jackson's eyes were a dark grey. His hair was black, fitting as it se
*Piper's POV*Jaxon and I followed behind Dee as she led the way to the library. I could feel knots twisting in my stomach. Whatever this is, I could sense it was a big deal.Jaxon tightened his grip on my hand. We glanced at each other and then back to Dee. I could tell even he knew this wasn't going to be something small. Which meant, we were both now on edge.We entered the library and Dee locked the doors behind us. Clearly whatever this is, it needed to be secret as well."So this is where you've been?" I noticed after the ceremony she disappeared, but I thought I may have just lost her in the crowd."Well, I've been working on this for a while." She responded. "The moment I had it opened I couldn't hold myself back from finding out about this true luna thing.""Well, let's get on with it." Jaxon seemed a little impatient.I can't say I blame him, I'm impatient myself. We've been waiting so long for some answers. We were just seconds away from getting them but even that felt like
*Jaxon's POV*"Are you ready?" I glanced at Piper for a moment. We got back an hour ago. The pack woke up and everyone was gathered and waiting to hear how it all had gone."Yes." Piper confidently nodded. That's one thing I love about her. She doesn't let her nerves get the better of her. Even if she feels them she pushes them aside and takes on her duties as a leader. Piper is one of the strongest female wolves I've ever met.I've been very fortunate to be fated to her.I never expected to meet my mate, ever to be honest. I figured after having been exiled from Moon Stone that the odds of finding one were slim. The night we went to take them down it hit me like a ton of bricks. My priorities changed that night, I just wanted to get her home. It was easy because Bradley didn't want to fight. He wasn't prepared to take on my pack and me. So of course he sacrificed Piper because he didn't count on the fact we would fall for each other. But we did.And here we are, still together and ev
*Piper's POV*After some convincing both of the packs agreed to merging. I could sense they were all unsure but they did seem to realize it was for the best. They did have a little bit of compromising though.Moon Stone still didn't want to up and leave their homes. So the decision was made that they would get to stay where they are since Night Blood isn't too far away. They still would answer to Parker but they would have someone else watching over them, Elliot.Elliot was going to be under Parker's orders but he was leading Moon Stone. I felt like it was a good thing for them. Elliot had always had a good set of morals from what I remember when I was a part of the pack and I had my faith he would do amazing things for Moon Stone.Parker would make Elliot report to him daily and he'd have his check in's with the pack as well. If anyone seemed to be trying to go back to the old ways of Moon Stone's leaders then Parker would alert Jaxon and I immediately. That way we could be included
*Piper's POV*Matteo and I circled each other, baring our teeth as we waited for the other to make the first move. As we did the alpha of the rogues emerged which caused Jaxon to shift. More wolves joined us as the pack of rogues stood behind their leader. There were a lot of them. How they had managed to accumulate so many is beyond me. There's no way all of them were exiled, some of them had to have chosen to be a part of this madness. My eyes looked into Matteo's gray orbs. I was trying to read him, to see maybe where exactly his head was at. Unfortunately, he was blocking me out.Never in a million years did I think he would be the one I had to take out. It was only months ago he was my everything. Now, I felt like there was only one way this ends and I refused to be the one on the losing side. The tension between all of us continued growing and growing. Finally, Matteo had enough. He charged me which caused the rest of the wolves to begin fighting.I dodged him, which made him hi
