Everyone soon entered the long coaster bus that was going to take us to school. I found the only empty seat in the front of the bus, so I sat down there.

I tried to scan through the whole bus for the boy and maybe show my gratitude to him, but he was at the other end of the bus. There was no way I would be able to walk past all of these rogues to the end of the bus. I was too shy for that.

I hadn't realized I was staring at him until his face caught mine and I adjusted myself in embarrassment. Something about his eyes was weird and strange, but I decided to shove the thoughts away. After the long ride back to school comes to an end, I would probably thank him.

After what seemed like forever, we finally arrived at school with two heavily loaded wolf guards waiting outside the bus and examining every rogue before they came down from the bus.

"Lenora?" A guard's voice called, and I immediately recognized him.

He used to be really close to our family when I was younger, but for some reason, he never showed up at our house anymore.

"Gerald! " I greeted her with a weak smile.

Knowing that I wasn't a complete ghost might have made me a little bit happy.

"What the hell are you doing with the rogues? They could turn out to be really dangerous. " He scolded me, and I broadened my smile to reassure him that I was fine.

"It's a long story for another day, but hey! Nothing happened to me and I'm fine. "

"Okay," he finally said, after examining my facial expression like he was trying to dig out the truth. He must have probably realized that my self-centred parents had done something.

I tried to look around for the boy that saved me earlier, but I couldn't find him anymore. He must have been examined by the other guard and probably left. It's a really big school, and it'll be really hard to find him. I guess I'll just have to forget about him.

I entered the school's building and inhaled a deep breath, hoping for today to at least not be harsh on me. I had history with Ariel, and I always have history with Ariel. I owe her an apology and hope she accepts it.

I opened the classroom door and the teacher's face fell on me with a scornful look before she continued her class, totally ignoring my greetings.

"Over here!" Ariel gestured at an empty seat for me with a smile on her face.

At least if everyone hated me, my best friend still loves me. I knew she wouldn't stay mad at me for that long, but I was extremely happy she forgave me and was cool with me.

"I'm sorry, Ariel!" I mouthed an apology to her as I sat down on the empty chair beside her.

With a smile on her face, she gave me a light squeeze on my hand.

"It's fine," she responded.

As I was about to take out my notebook from my bag, the alarm went off and we could hear the footsteps of hundreds of students trooping all around the hall.

"Everyone out!" The teacher yelled.

Ariel and I both looked at our faces with awe before running out of the classroom, but the main doors were locked. Even the strongest wolf couldn't break it open.

I spotted Asher running towards the panicked students as he tried to break the door open with his strength. He couldn't break it open, and I could smell blood coming from his body. He was bleeding. I knew I wasn't supposed to care about him, but I hated seeing him in pain, even after what he did to me.

"Don't stress!" A calm yet powerful voice echoed across the hall, immediately silencing the panicking students, and everyone was trying to find where the voice came from.

My eyes widened in awe as I spotted the same guy who had saved me, standing elegantly behind us all. On his hand was a bloody arm that was immediately recognized. It belonged to the Alpha.

The students all gasped in horror at the sight before them.

"You bastard!"Asher roared across the hall.

He ran towards the boy in an attempt to pounce on him, but the boy immediately dodged his attack and twisted Asher's arm. We could all hear the sound of his bones cracking, and all of a sudden, I could smell the fear building up in everyone.

"I am Alaric, the son of Adolph, your new Alpha," his thick voice effortlessly said.

He removed the hood from his head, revealing his long, wavy hair that fell right on his shoulders. He removed the bandana that was tied across his nose, revealing how perfectly built his face was, but he looked different.

"Adolph, my father is the Alpha of the most powerful pack, the Crescent pack, but we chose to expand our territory, and now I'm the official ruler of the Serene pack." He tossed the arm on the floor.

It was easy to tell he wasn't just an ordinary wolf, but he looked more like a god with his smooth and perfect face, compared to a typical wolf's rough face filled with scars. He looked really young but spoke and behaved like a full-grown wolf.

"No, you're not!" Asher tried to fight back with his broken arm, but Alaric brought him back to the ground with a kick.

I couldn't bear the amount of pain Asher was feeling, and I didn't realize it when tears started to flow freely down my eyes. I still loved him and couldn't bear to see him in pain.

My face met with Tala's face, and there wasn't a tiny feeling of pity on her face, rather she was busy gawking at the new boy.

"Courtney!" The whole class gasped again. No one had dared call the school's mistress by her name, not even Asher himself.

"Yes, master," she said as she kneeled before him, her head bowed, leaving the entire school in awe.

My thoughts were right because I doubt he was just a mere Alpha heir; he appeared stronger.

"Next time, try not to raise the alarm, or else you won't like it. You could have made these kids end up dead if I hadn't sealed the door. "

"My men wouldn't think twice before killing them all if they had run out that way," he threatened, and I stared at how her shaky knees trembled before him.

"Take care of your kids, make them behave well, and also teach them respect!" he ordered, and she immediately responded with a "yes, master!".

His face fell on Asher, who was groaning in pain on the floor. He was about to give him another kick, but I couldn't bear it in me any longer. My wolf, Lora, couldn't bear it anymore. It was deeply breaking our hearts.

"Just stop it!" I yelled at Alaric as I ran to where Asher was laying in pain.

Never had I imagined I would actually make my voice be heard in a place filled with a lot of people like this, not to mention being in the presence of death himself.

The whole school stared at me as I kneeled on the ground beside Asher and covered him with my body in an attempt to help him.

He was the son of an Alpha and was supposed to immediately heal, but with the throne being taken away from him, I doubt he would heal on time.

I bit open my wrists and tried to feed him my blood since I came from a renowned and special family, but instead, he shoved me off of him, making me hit my head really hard on the floor. I couldn't hold back the tears in my eyes as I winced in pain on the floor with tears flowing freely. Nor could I tell if they were from the impact of the fall or from the fact that he wouldn't even let me help him.

I looked up to see Alaric staring at me with a confused expression on his face. He immediately walked away from the hall with his fists clenched together, and I realized he left with anger boiling in him, but why should he be angry? I had expected him to hit me or probably give me a punishment for raising my voice at him, but he just left.

"To your classes!" The mistress ordered with a shaky voice as she embarrassedly stood up.

Everyone hurriedly left for their various classes before she would take their aggression out on them.

I spotted Ariel standing alone in the middle of the hall with hurt in her eyes. I was sure she didn't care about her brother, but for the fact that her father had been brutally killed by the so-called rogues.

She was the main reason why the Alpha allowed rogues to stay in the kingdom despite their dreadful threats. Her mate was one of the rogues that landed in our territory, and because of their relationship, the Alpha let rogues come into our territory in an attempt to let other wolves find their mates. He did it for her, but he's also dead because of her.

Her eyes were heavy and filled with tears, but she was trying to control them. I had never seen her cry because she happens to be a really strong wolf and it broke my heart to see her hurt. Her tears were going to fall, but she ran away from where I was.

Asher had started to heal by himself, even though it was a slow process, and he was now on his feet as he angrily leapt away from me without glancing at my face or saying a word to me.

I decided to take whatever was happening to me as fate. Perhaps I was never meant to find a true mate who would love me equally. My wrist had healed, and I wiped away the blood stains on it as I ran to look for Ariel.

I knew where she would have run to, the spot she likes to go to whenever she wants to be alone to clear her mind of some things. The last time I saw her this sad was when Luna passed away, and I felt like a really bad friend for choosing to help Alaric without considering the fact that she had also just lost her father.

"Ariel!" I called out her name on arriving at the school's abandoned classroom that she somehow turned into her own personal space.

On entering the room, I spotted her seated on the bare floor with her back turned away from me. I walked up to her and sat beside her as I rested her head on my shoulders while stroking her hair. She didn't bother to wipe her tears away and it hurt me more to know she was this pained. It was literally the first time I've seen her cry, yet there's nothing I could do about it.

"Aren't you two supposed to be in your classes?" A familiar thick voice growled in a tone that came out as a command rather than a question.

"Aren't you two supposed to be in your classes?" A familiar thick voice growled in a tone that came out as a command rather than a question. We both turned to see Alaric standing straight beside the door with his hands tucked in his jeans pocket. He wasn't wearing the blood stained cloth he was putting on earlier; rather, he changed into another shirt even though they were both white. "We were just leaving. I'm sorry," Ariel stuttered as she stood up in an attempt to balance herself. I kept on staring in awe because I couldn't put into words why everyone was like this around him. I have known Ariel to be fearless, but she's literally scared of this big thug in front of us. "Let's go, Nora," she said as she dragged me out of the room, her hands shaky and feeble beneath mine, and I felt terrible about it. I could feel the hatred and anger growing in me because of the pain he was inflicting on the people I loved. For the first time, my eyes did n

I could sense the tension among everyone as soon as the son of the devil walked into the hall with his head raised high. I couldn't hate him more for the fact that he thinks no one can match up to him. My eyes widened in awe the moment I saw Asher walking slowly behind the beast with his body covered in blood. So were Tala and some of their closest friends. I didn't like the way he was covered in blood, and my wolf and I wanted to do something, but there was literally nothing we could do other than gawk in awe. Ariel held my hand as she gave it a light squeeze. I assumed she must have sensed the tension in me, but the look on her face clearly told me to drop whatever was on my mind. I know she wasn't okay with the fact that I still loved Asher after everything he had done to be, but I still believe he had a reason for doing it since he has a really manipulative personality. We arrived at the enormous gate to the mansion as the bus slowly entered. It was hard to not be scared because I didn't know what might happen to me once I got into the main mansion, but hell being in front of the gates alone looked like the gates of hell. The pack house used to be a lively place with the friendly Alpha and Luna. They would constantly throw parties in the house and invite all of the wolves in the Serene pack, but I don't think there would be anything like a party here anymore. Ariel and I both entered the house and were shocked to see our mistress there already. We had left her behind in the school and it was creepy that she was here first. She said, "I'll give you your room numbers and you're all to share a room with two other students," and some of her workers brought a heavy box, probably containing keys. I silently prayed that Ariel and I would happen to be in the same room because I don't think I would keep my sanity if I was awa

"Get in!" He commanded as soon as we arrived in front of a car. "Where the fuck are we going to?" Lora whimpered, but at this point, I wished I knew the answer. I sat in the back seat with him beside me, but his face wasn't turned to me; rather, he was staring at the road while his driver drove us past different places. "Where are you taking me to?" I finally decided to speak up after contemplating whether I would die if I said those words or not. "You'll know when we get there," he answered. I wouldn't count it as an answer because it didn't satisfy my curiosity, but now all I had to do was to fervently pray that I wouldn't end up in a bad state. I noticed his driver pulled over at a huge, fancy store. I immediately recognized the store because I would always pass by sometimes and wish I could shop there. Most of my rich classmates did the

We were having a normal class today, which meant I didn't need to train, and I was glad about it. I really didn't want to embarrass myself in front of other wolves and show that I was a weak person. I strolled down the hallway in the big mansion to where my class would be, but the thought of us all having the same class together made my tummy churn. I didn't want to be in the same class as Asher because whenever I saw him together with Tala, it made my wolf unable to breathe, and I could sometimes feel a sharp sting in my heart. I wasn't over the rejection yet. In fact, no wolf would get over a rejection that easily. Then, he used to be my boyfriend, but now he's my sister's, and it made me hurt more. On reaching the door to our new classroom, I heaved a deep breath, trying to contain as much oxygen as I could so I wouldn't suffocate myself to death when I got to see Tala and Asher together. "What the fuck are you doing?" Ariel'

"Did he hurt you?" She asked and I debated on whether to respond to her or not but then I just couldn't stay away from the asshole."No, he didn't" I replied with cringed brows but immediately turned them into a smile so she wouldn't be worried."I'll help you with the door" she offered and I watched how she miraculously fixed the door back and I wondered why I couldn't do it right. After she fixed the door and entered the room, I made sure to lock it behind before I started to pour my mind out."Why is he always like that to me?" I asked and Ariel looked at me for some seconds before shrugging."I have no idea either," she said but underneath those eyes I could tell she was lying and didn't want to say anything because earlier on she had said something like she doesn't want to talk In order to not get herself into trouble.

I trailed off, I didn't want to tell him that the stench of Tala on him made my chest hurt because I was trying to be a strong wolf."And what?" He asked but I shook my head."Nothing, just that" I replied and he sighed loudly."Well I'll tell you why you can perceive her smell around me" he said and I lifted my eyes to look at him because I was really interested in it and wanted to know why."Why's that?""Because, on my way here I bumped into her. It's been 2 weeks since Adolph left the Palace and it has also been 2 weeks since I declared my love for Alaric. Everything has been working just fine for us ever since and I sincerely hope that it'll last forever. I do not wish to encounter any more problems, I've suffered enough since I was born and I could say I needed to feel nothing but joy henceforth. Tala and Clara on the other hand have been suffering in the same cell for two weeks, they've been eating fine as I promised but their food has always been laced with wolfsbane. I made sure to put a trusted person who would be in charge of that, I didn't want it to be a situation whereby they get to be pitied. At first they were reluctant to eat their food and that went on for only three or four days as their body cried for food. They had no choice but to eat what would slowly kill them eventually. I

A gasp left my mouth the moment my eyes flew open and I found myself yet in the Palace. It must have been a dream but it felt so real.A sharp pain stung my chest and I screamed in awe while clenching my chest tight with my hands, my senses resurfaced as I lifted my head to see blood trailing down Adolph's arms as his hands were dug into Alaric's body. The sight of seeing Alaric's blood spilling on the ground, the sight of his skin going pale, the sight of blood gushing from his mouth as he struggled for his life. The feeling of pain in him, the feeling of pain in me and the spinning of my head made everything worse for me. I tried to yell but words didn't seem to be leaving my mouth.Alaric's eyes finally met with my startled eyes as his lips curled up in a painful smile at the sight of me. He was smiling at me while his eyes were closing shut and his hands were no longer fighting for his life.

On releasing lenora to her, my rage resurfaced.I couldn't believe my father almost took Lenora away from me like he had been taking the people I loved away from me.
