Mufasa got on his feet and began to walk towards the fireplace which was ten feet away. He put his hand in the pocket of his robe and withdrew it with his fist clenched.
“It was seen long back at the time of his birth that he would be mated to a powerful woman who would unlock his greatest potentials and make him utterly invincible,” he stated and threw his hand towards the fire. Seed-like objects were strewn into it and it blazed up more, as if the seeds were fuel.
Olive gaped at what Mufasa had said. She looked at Wayne and he looked totally bored. He had heard that countless times since it was first prophecied at his birth. So, he was pretty much accustomed to it. But she...she was hearing this for the very first time. Mated to a powerful woman? Unlock his greatest potentials and make him invincible? Heck! How could that be her?
“No one knows what would happen if Wayne becomes invincible or even what sort of strength he would wield. But we a
“What?” came Dolly's voice, broken and crestfallen. Everyone looked at her surprised at the sudden change of mood. She stood on her feet with teary eyes.“You are from The Vrek Cult?” she asked and Olive blinked.“Was from The Vrek Cult,” Wayne corrected with a firm tone, showing her she didn't have the right to judge his mate because of her past. Dolly's eyes turned to Wayne and they glared angrily at him. Her eyes were moist and red by now.“Wayne, you know what they did. You know what her people did,” she pointed at Olive who sat down looking so confused. What did The Vrek Cult do this time? Because they did a lot of things.“Dolly, calm down,” Jake said calmly but she glared dangerously at him and he sat still.“Olive, were you among them?” she asked.“Among whom?”“Were you part of the people who murdered him in cold blood?!”Wayne stood up and faced his sister, his eyes having a ring of gold in them.“Dolly, enough!” he thundered and Dolly shuddered. She hugged her arms and bega
Olive stood by the terrace and watched the castle's premises from up there. A gentle breeze was blowing and her hair was being tossed around slowly. At certain intervals, she would take deep breaths and gulp down. She had no idea that Wayne had been watching her for up to ten minutes already. After deciphering what exactly was going on with his mate, he gently walked up to her and wrapped his arms around her waist then placed his chin on her shoulder. She flinched at his sudden contact with her.“Wayne,” she called and breathed in.“What's going on with you?” he asked in a deep whisper. She exhaled and relaxed into his embrace.“It's nothing,” she lied and smiled as she held his hands that were wrapped around her. She felt secure in his arms.“You know I know you're lying, right?” Wayne asked rhetorically and Olive laughed. Yes, she knew he knew.“I wanted to ask you something. How do you detect lies?”“It's a secret. One which I'm not going to tell you until you tell me what is going
But why would he say such a thing in the first place? Thank God she slapped him, he came back to his damn senses already. So he wanted to let Olive live the life she wanted...and with another man? Heck! No one was permitted to make her happy except him. Just him. He would be the one to make her fantasies come true. Before he could try to calm her down, he saw her break down and go on her knees—crying.“Olive,” he called in surprise and ran to her.“Baby,” he called again as he held her arms.“Don't let me go. Don't leave me,” she cried and hugged him tight. Wayne's heart melted into hot wax. He held her hand against his chest and kissed her hair.“I'm sorry, I tried to make such a decision,” he mumbled deeply.“Why would you say something like that? I am sad about not having a normal life doesn't mean I don't't want the life with you. I want you, which is why I'm willing to live in
Olive's eyes widened.“You fought against hundreds of men yourself? All at once?” she asked, eyes as wide as saucers. He chuckled darkly and sipped his wine. Then he bit on his lips while smirking and looking into space with a dangerous look. Something about him immediately seeped out danger and Olive got goosebumps. This man was something.“How? If I may ask?” she managed to say, despite her survival instincts screaming at her to run from this man.“By turning feral. I won't shift, but I would turn feral in this state,” he answered and looked at her. She had been the one looking at him ever since he began his story.“When does that happen? Do you control it?”“Happens whenever I get an overwhelming emotion of anger and hate. Mind you, I was very quick tempered back then. So I could snap anytime. Because of that, I hardly had people around me.”“You are using past tense. Does that mean you're no longer quick tempered?”“I am. I just k
Olive gulped down in fright. That simple river that looked so beautiful? It turned Wayne into what he was? How in the world?“I...can't believe this,” she muttered under her breath.“Mufasa had said that the river didn't make me what I turned out to be. It only opened the door to it,” Wayne stated as he looked into space.“How did you manage to even go to that side? At what age?”“When I was five, I followed my father to watch some trees being cut down for timber at the Lochill Woods. He had no idea I had wandered off and gotten lost. I saw the river and entered. I was just a kid,” he answered and shrugged.Olive exhaled and looked at his eyes. So dark and cold. To her, he didn't deserve to live the life he lived. If only he could have a little light in him. To be a little like a normal person.“Why didn't the river have any effect on me? The only thing I felt was that it was ice cold which you later warmed. Or, was it because you warmed it? That was why it didn't affect me?”“No. To
Wayne raked his fingers through his hair.“What are we going to do now?” he asked frustratingly.“I think you would have to let Lord Lina go. To break all connections with you,” Olive answered and Wayne's eyes darkened.“Let Lord Lina go?” he laughed darkly.“Never. Not after what she's done to my people. She created havoc, Olive. She toiled with people's minds using my powers. Tried to kill me numerous times using people around me. If not for my natural instincts and skills, I would have died by the hands of people in this very castle. Do you know how many times she controlled the cooks into poisoning my food with the worst poisons in the world? How did she even get them? Do you know how many times Dolly has been controlled into jumping down her window to die? This is just a little of her manipulations back then. I cannot let that witch roam free again. No, no,” Wayne ranted and Olive was totally shocked. No wonder he hated that woman. She was like his only rival.“But, how could she
Olive got out of the shower and wrapped a light blue towel around her body. She stepped out of the bathroom and walked towards her vanity. Wayne had gone back to Mufasa's dungeon after an urgent call. He said he was also going to tell him about the connection between him and Lord Lina and how to severe it completely.Olive had waited for him to come but he was taking so long and she suspected they were tackling whatever it was on their table. She decided to just patiently wait for her mate to come.As she got ready, she felt hungry and decided to just eat the noodles Dolly had given her. That was what made her remember that Dolly had walked out on them earlier in Mufasa's dungeon. She froze and stood still for a few seconds before exhaling deeply. She had to go and see Dolly and clarify whatever it was she was saying earlier.Wayne had seemed really annoyed with her. But she had looked broken. Who was it that The Vrek Cult murdered? And why?Olive hastily wore a dress and didn't even
Olive tried as hard as she could to think back into time but the name Jonathan did not ring a bell in her mind. She didn't remember all the names of the people she was sent to harm but, at least something should be able to ring a bell.“Was he from Balendin Pack?” she asked after about two minutes of racking her brain. Next, she heard the lock of the door turning so she stood upright and faced it. The door swung open slowly to reveal a swollen, red eyed Dolly. Her face was wet but still red despite her just washing it in the bathroom.“Dolly,” Olive called in both relief and sympathy as she ran and embraced her. Dolly didn't hug her back but leaned onto her for support. She was really weak. Olive patted her back for several seconds until Dolly stood upright.“Come, let's sit,” Olive whispered and held her hand. She pulled her along gently and they sat on the sofa opposite the television. Dolly's room was really big and was the combination of a living room and a bedroom. Her queen size
