Alpha Knight and Olive stared at each other's eyes and their faces were inches apart. Their position was supposed to be awkward but Olive felt comfortable.
“Thank you,” she appreciated and he nodded curtly. Then she placed her arms on his firm and broad shoulders then hugged his chest. She felt comfortable there.
He pinned her against his body and inhaled her dry hair. His wolf that was once angry now purred and he closed his eyes. The wind beat against them and played violently with their hair.
“It's a bit windy, Olive,” Wayne spoke up after minutes of silence.
“Let's go inside,” she said and was about unlocking from him. But he lifted her up and carried her inside. He took her straight to the bed and laid her down, leaning over her and gazing into her eyes.
“Do you want anything?” he asked sweetly.
“Hmm...coffee,” she mumbled. He nodded and covered her legs with the duvet. He walked to the kitchen and made coffee for her, but with his coff
“Race my wolf?” Olive asked as she hurried after him. He was walking too fast and she was even eating. Why was he in such a hurry?“Surprised? Or you don't have a wolf?”“Of course I do. She's a pretty one,” Olive boasted and they entered the elevator together.“How pretty?”“You'll see,” she shrugged and popped the last bit of sandwich in her mouth.“What about you? I bet you don't have a wolf,” she teased him and he chuckled.“You are right, I don't have a wolf,” he said and she laughed, thinking he was joking. The rest of the elevator ride was in silence but, blissful silence. It wasn't like the other silence on the first day of their stroll, which Olive had found suffocating. This one was quite comfortable for her. Was she finally loving the presence of her mate, whether he spoke or not? When the elevator dinged open downstairs, Wayne's hand took hers in his and helped her out. She was surprised he only held her hand as they were
The sort of rage, fear and protectiveness Wayne had just gone through was very new to him. He just couldn't take it and had to keep calm. It felt like his heart had been shattered into a million little pieces and splashed over a hard surface, making them bounce all about. He had watched his mate almost die in front of him. What if she was not a werewolf and was some fragile creature that couldn't withstand what she went through? What if she was human? She could have died in front of him. At the thought of this, he pinned her more to his furry self and covered her neck with his snout.“Wayne,” she had called again but his racing heart wouldn't let him free her. He had to make sure she was truly alive in his arms by listening to her heartbeat on and on.“Wayne, I'm fine. Really,” Olive tried to convince him. He loosened his grip on her and peeped at her face. The sight of her nose bleeding, her lip bursted and a large wound on her cheek made his heart boil again.
Olive was elated as she saw Wayne, her mate running after her. She ran into the road and ran in a zig zag way while he followed her pattern. He was a very fast wolf, and was already reaching her. So, she took a turn and ran in the opposite direction which they had just come from. He took after her and increased his pace.It was like he was diving through the wind and not actually running on legs. In less than a minute, he had caught up with Olive and she wheezed and fell down playfully. He towered over her and tickled her abdomen, sniffing her fur as he did so.She pushed him away and ran into the rocky area. Jumping on the rocks only. He stood still, not following her but just watching her movements. Olive knew he was worried she would fall again and she shook her head at the kind of mate she had.She stood still on a rock and looked at him. Then began to wave her tail at him, inviting him to her. He ran on the ground, dodging the rocks and jumping over plants
Olive giggled as he jerked her up to his shoulder and she swung slowly over Wayne's back. They entered his elevator and that was when he dropped her slowly by his side. He gazed into her green orbs that seemed so bright and happy, and he remembered the first time he saw them. They were filled with fear and hopelessness. Moist with tears and dull, just awaiting death. He felt satisfied with himself at what they now looked like. And he vowed, yes he vowed to himself that he would always do whatever he could to keep her eyes bright and happy.“You seem to love gazing into my eyes,” she mused after noticing how he was just peering at them, as if he was traveling through them to another dimension.“I love them,” he said firmly and with certainty that Olive immediately believed he loved them for real.“Because of the color, I guess,” she laughed and looked away from him.“A lot of people said I had beautiful eyes,” she added and shrugged, like it was not
Olive gulped as the three smells hit her. She could also smell faint odors of other people. Sweaty people. What had Wayne been up to? And why did he return so quickly?“Why do you look dazed?” Wayne asked her as he reached the tub and placed both his hands on it while crouching down and looking at his mate who was at the middle of the tub, sitting up and looking rigid.“I... I'm not,” she stuttered then lowered her face forward and shook only her face in the water. Then she lifted it and exhaled with her mouth. Wayne loved how water blended with her skin, making her look like a water goddess. He loved her wet lips, he wanted to kiss them. Her wavy black hair was now straight after soaked in the water.“Mind if I hop in? I feel terribly dirty.”“Sure,” she simply said and shrugged with a smile. He smirked at her and stepped backwards. Then he removed his black sweatshirt and dropped it on the floor. As he rem
Wayne shook his head at all of Olive's inquiries.“Women. Gosh, why do y'all have to be so nagging? I'm sure Dolly would bombard me with even more questions.”“But—”“These are my Alpha duties, Olive. There are lots of them. So don't worry over any little thing I go out to do, okay?”Olive heaved a sigh and nodded.“Good girl,” he lifted his hand and rubbed her cheek with his index finger. She bit her lips and exhaled deeply.“I have to go and dress up. I just wanted a hot bath earlier. See you downstairs at dinner,” she said and began to move out of the tub.“Downstairs? Who said we're having dinner downstairs?” She looked back at him.“But I thought we would be having dinner with your family,” she mumbled.“Get dressed and wait for me. Don't go anywhere. Just sit on the bed till I come out. Because we're having dinner outside the castle,” he ordered in his Alpha voice of authority. He closed his eyes and crossed his arms, taking a position of solitude.“Yes, Alpha,” Olive muttered.
“You look magnificent. Like a Prince,” Olive mused as she smiled and walked up to him. She didn't know she also had an effect on him.He was wearing a dark blue dress shirt. Ironed neatly and it clung to his body perfectly. The top buttons were out, showing huge chest muscles underneath. His unruly hair looked tamed as it was gelled backwards, leaving only a small fraction hanging over his face beautifully. Yes, he looked beautiful and handsome at the same time. His black pants had two lines vertically moving from top to bottom. Who ironed his clothes for him? That person was good.It took all the self control that Wayne had not to pull Olive and kiss her tenderly on those glistening lips of hers. She looked so beautiful that he wanted to merge himself with her, to look this beautiful too.“You look beautiful, Olive,” he managed to say. Then he took her hand gently and kissed it. Lingering more than expected of her. She felt her heart melting and she blushed.“Thank you, Wayne,” she a
The silence in the car was slowly killing Olive. Not because she wanted to have a conversation with Wayne, but because she was curious about where he was taking her. He had his back resting on the seat, his face to the ceiling of the car and his eyes closed. He seemed to be thinking, but looking at him closely, he looked tired. Olive felt bad immediately. He had been away on a hectic mission for one whole week. And he returned just this noon.He didn't even rest at all. He took a long bath with her, took her on her evening stroll where they raced each other's wolves for an hour, then they returned and he ran off with his men for an emergency. Now he was taking her on a date. Was he some sort of superman or what? He should rest.Olive sighed silently and looked down at their intertwined hands. Her fingers looked so small in his. She felt secure just by holding his hands. Slowly and gently, she rubbed her thumb across the back of his palm soothingly. She wished she had let him rest inst
The camp was empty safe for a massive building that was like a stone tower. There was a huge field surrounding it, cleared clean of trees, shrubs and plants. Calor could smell it.“Damn, it that's foul!” Olive sneered and gagged. “The Unbidden Army. They smell dead,” Astra explained. “But where are they?” Wayne asked, looking at the camp through Astra's vision too.“Underground, in that building. Laying low,” she replied. A few men with thick leather hoods were stationed outside, and there was an occasional movement of other people to and from the tower. A few tents were pitched on the field and they contained a few people.“How can we attack and besiege this place? It doesn't look impossible but...I kinda feel like there's more to this place than any we see,” Olive noted.“You shouldn't even be seeing this place in the first place,” Calor communicated. “Why?”“Because it's warded. Heavily warded to be simply invisible. No one should see or access it. But we can. And by that, I me
The van parked in front of the castle and they alighted. The fresh air hit their faces and Olive took in a deep breath. She was home. Oh, she missed home so much. She couldn't wait to see the guys. Alpha Knight came around her and sneaked his arm around her waist.“How does it feel?” she asked, looking up into his face as he gazed at his magnificent castle. The sun was setting already and the glow illuminated the building.“Feels like peace,” he answered and looked down at her.“I thought you felt at peace wherever I was?” Wayne chuckled.“I feel at home wherever you are. But I feel at peace when you're home with me.”Olive rolled her eyes.“You're just good with words,” she muttered and he laughed. “Are we heading in or gazing at the castle like it's a new building?” Jake asked as he made his way towards the entrance. Olive chuckled and followed after Jake, with Wayne right beside her. Her Guard followed behind them and they entered the castle together. Guards nodded pleasantly at
“You know where we're to go?” Olive asked, even though she learned back at Senshi Temple that the dragon always knew where his rider was headed. “Crystal clear,” Calor answered. They had been flying for two hours straight and each one of them was tired already. Olive's back personally felt like it could break into two any moment now from all that stuff, straight back riding. She needed to lie down for a full day before she could regain herself. “How far are we now?” she asked. “How about you just talk to me through the bond instead of shouting over the noise of the wind?” Olive furrowed her brows. “I can do that?” “Of course you can. What do they teach you at Senshi Temple now?” “Let's try it then.” “It'll be just like talking to your mate. Come one.” Olive chuckled and searched for the newest bond addition within her. She did know that she could talk with her dragon, she just didn't think it would snap into place the very second she met him. ’It's been hours since we met.
Olive shifted a little way off, so all the fire could be for her Wayne alone. She felt hot tears stinging her eyes and she let them fall. Wayne had to make it. Her Wayne had to come back to her.The Ignis Fatuus had no heat at all, so she wasn't afraid of him being burnt because of the way he was engulfed. “He'll be fine now, Flamera,” Lutz whispered to her. Her Guard had come to stand firmly behind her to show their support. A few minutes after Calor began administering his Ignis Fatuus, he stopped. Wayne was revealed there on the black soot ground. He was motionless. And would have looked lifeless if not for the gentle thudding of his heart and the colour of his face. He looked peaceful, whole, alive. Olive gently walked to him and knelt. She cradled his face in her palms and felt his skin. She broke into happy tears. He was safe. She could feel it deep within herself that he was safe. And best of all, their bond tumbled back into place. It felt so peaceful to feel her mate again
Alpha Knight had a dragon? No way. No freaking way. How could that be?“Impossible,” Lutz exclaimed, his face as pale as his hair.“This is a joke, right?” Olive asked, looking from her dragon to the new dragon.“I know we just met, but you should already know I'm not the type to joke around,” her dragon groaned and huffed. “But how is this possible? Never...and I repeat, never has this been heard of. Only the Firewolf of a generation is gifted a dragon. One dragon per Firewolf of a generation!” Lutz argued, his tone filled with disbelief and shock. This was simply not possible. He had studied the books for years. He was the most learned historian. He did not know this. This was simply unheard of.“No Firewolf is like her,” the male dragon brought down his voice to say. Olive felt him look at her with adoration and pride. She jerked her head to look at him immediately. He adored her? Since when?“I saw what you did. We both did,” he stated. “What did I do?” Olive questioned.“For th
The dragon had not lifted its mouth to speak but Olive heard it clearly in her head. It was like she was thinking in a different, deep and animalistic voice. ‘I can hear your thoughts. That cocky mate of yours never thought you how to put up your mind shield?’ he spoke again, his irritation clear in his voice. Olive stood dazed just staring at the magnificent creature. It was so huge, like a building and yet so alive. It raised its left front limb and shifted it on the ground. Black dust rose up and covered her from the mere casual action. She broke into a fit of coughs that were inaudible.‘Fragile. Humph,’ it said. ‘Stop referring to me as it! I'm a male dragon.’He shifted his whole body when he said that, made some guttural sounds and flapped his wings. More dust this time accompanied by wind had Olive almost falling to the floor. She felt an emotion rush at her. Of facepalming. Or eye rolling. Or mock gagging. She looked up. Was her dragon already tired of her in just a few s
He gently let them land on the rock directly beneath them, but before Olive could wince at the temperature of the rock, she was controlled back into the air. And in a second, was tearing through the wind towards her mate.Alpha Knight pulled her to himself in a quick zap. She was in his arms two seconds later and he was squeezing the life out of her.“Wayne...Wayynee, I can't bre-eathee,” she drawled before he released her. He looked her over frantically, his arms firmly pressed unto her shoulders.“You almost didn't breathe for real. I almost lost you. What if I hadn't heard? What if I was even a minute late?” he panicked. Olive smiled.“Thank you for saving us,” she said and hugged him. He kissed her ear and rubbed her gently on the back.“If I don't rush to your rescue, then I don't exist,” he muttered and her ear again. Then they unlocked. He took her arm and grimaced at the sight of her open palm. It was a bloody gash that wasn't healing.“It's not healing and it hurts ten times
Olive gathered her strength and rose from the black sand. She dusted the grains off her body and hair the best she could and took in a deep breath. The hot air burned her nostrils and she let out a cough. She could still feel the chill of the ocean water against her skin even while standing in a place about 60 degrees hot.Olive looked around again and could not find her bag anywhere. She had thought her bag would be strapped to her back like it was before the drowning illusion. The bag required a lot of straps and lock-in, and would take her at least a minute to take it down from her back. But it was no longer on her, and it had disappeared altogether.Even as worry for her mate and Guard ate at her, she knew she had to start moving. The dragon was waiting for her and she couldn't show any weakness. Her mate and Guard would find their way. They'd be fine. And so the Firewolf began her trek towards the looming black mountains. Waves of heat blew at her, and she thought on plenty of oc
They grabbed onto their bags, which were still firmly strapped around their backs, and began to run.“They aren't even coming at us yet!” Lutz shouted, looking back at the birds who were just peaceful and innocent.“Don't you wait until they are!” Koushi responded. Olive looked at him.“You too, scared of them ostriches?” she laughed.“Like your mate said...naked-necked nightmares!”Olive's laugh was the only thing heard now as they raced through the savannah. Alpha Knight looked back and took a sharp intake of breath.“Here they come!!”Simultaneously, they all looked back to see the birds now flexing their long legs and covering the distance between them in just a few minutes.“This is their damn savannah,” Olive stated as they cut through knee-length dry grasses. “I'm shifting everyone. Grab hold to me,” Wayne announced.“Why didn't you shift earlier?!” Lutz nagged. He was getting weak, out of breath, and red-faced.“So you could run a bit, Lutz,” Wayne answered with a wicked gri
