When Olive returned few minutes later from the bathroom, she found hot towels in a flask and two shopping bags on the bed. She immediately took the hot towel and placed it around her neck. She winced at first but it was later soothing so she let it stay there. She checked the contents of the bags and found out they were new clothes.
“Why does he keep buying new clothes? How about the ones he bought for me the other day? Where are they even?” she asked no one in particular.
Olive found a short black dress and loved it immediately. She straightened it on the bed and decided to wear it. She did and it looked splendid on her. It had a round neck, and was printed from the waist to her knees. Little shiny stones were studded around the chest area and they glittered as she moved her body. She walked to the mirror and finger-combed her hair. There was nothing to use to style it, so she just let it fall beautifully on her. Besides, she had a silky, not too stubborn
Their eyes met and he didn't look away. He didn't want to.“Why did you bring her out?” he asked while looking at her.“She was on her way out already when I met her.”“And where did you meet her?” his eyes moved to Jericho's.“Your lobby.”“And what took you to his quarters?” Jake asked from the bar. Jericho scratched the back of his head.“I was going to check up on her,” he answered.Wayne looked enraged.“You left here to go check up on her without my permission? Who even asked you to check up on her?!”Olive's two arms wrapped around Jericho's arm in fear and she closed her eyes tight. Dolly frowned and stood in between them and Wayne who had surprisingly walked closer.“Hey, young man! Lower your tone or I'll cut that tongue of yours. You're scaring your mate. No wonder she tried to escape. You're finally given a perfec
“Who wants to see me? Olive?” he asked, his eyes still red.“Yes, Olive. She's in Dolly's room,” Jake answered. Wayne exhaled and ran his fingers through his hair again.“She... She hates me, ” he muttered and began to walk in circles, with his fists balled tight.“No, she doesn't. You're her f\*cking mate, Wayne! She's attracted to you so just return that attraction. What's stopping you?”“I don't know, Jake! It's just hard.”Jake sighed and telepathically informed Dolly that he was bringing Wayne to see Olive. Dolly approved.“Come on, let's go see your mate,” Jake said and began to walk away with Crusoe.“Wait, I'll go alone,” Wayne objected and walked into the elevator alone. It closed and few minutes later, he walked into the hallway which contained his sisters' rooms. He knocked lightly on Dolly's.“Come in,” Dolly's voice answ
“I need new clothes, Alpha. Things suitable for strolling outside,” Olive's voice reverberated in his head.“Jackets, I suppose. Boots and Jean pants. I had lots of them back at the cult,” she added while staring into space with a weird smile on her face.“What's with the awkward smile?”“It feels like a dream. That I can wake up in another house not belonging to The Vrek Cult, and not worry about going back,” she answered and looked at her cold pizza. She smiled, lifted it up to her lips again and took a very big bite. She munched happily and nodded her head rhythmically as if she had earphones plugged in.Wayne watched her in amusement. How could she be carefree and innocent looking one moment, and the next she turns into a guilty faced and nervous female then back to looking carefree. He placed another pizza slice on her plate from the box and got on his feet.“Sleep now since w
“You look good,” she breathed out. His tensed up cheek muscles flicked and a smirk appeared on his face.“Is there a time I look awful?” he teased her.“Thanks for the compliment though,” he added as he continued to smirk at her.She gulped and turned around to walk towards the bathroom. She successfully made it to the door, but something told her he was still staring at her. She wanted to look back so badly, but she managed to open the door and enter. She heaved a deep sigh, expecting to feel relief that she was no longer under his gaze. But instead, her nostrils inhaled his rainy smell and it messed with her senses. She suddenly wanted to turn back, run to him and sniff his hair. She balled her fists in an attempt to refrain herself from moving. Thankfully, it worked. She stripped, entered under the shower that reeked of him and manage to shower with closed eyes. When she was done, she wore a bathrobe and stepped out
Olive knew by the look of Gia, that she was no ordinary lady. She was dressed formally, with her designer suit that was instead a short gown. The ladies behind her were fierce, wearing red leather jackets and pants. They looked like her bodyguards. She knew Balendin was a state on its own, so they were many officials. She must be one of them.“That lady. Who was she?” Olive asked as they approached a black Rolls Royce Phantom. She looked at Wayne's stern face and waited for an answer. He didn't seem to want to answer.Olive tugged on his jacket because she suspected there was something fishy. The way Gia looked at him, and at her. There were two very different looks. And the look she had got was scrutinizing.“Alpha,” Olive called and stood still in front of the car. He walked past her and opened the door.“Get in,” he said curtly. She puffed and walked to his front, entered the car without sparing him a g
Olive's mouth fell open as she heard those words from him. He had looked and sounded serious. He even promised!“Alpha, you do realize this is your first promise to me. Don't you?” she asked. She honestly wanted him to take back his words. A promise was not easily broken by their kind, and she didn't want him to be burdened by it. The fight against The Vrek Cult and everyone who hurt her was her battle alone. She didn't want anyone to be involved blindly.“I know. And it's a promise I intend to keep,” Wayne replied firmly. She opened her mouth to say something again, but his face was too firm. She couldn't say anything more.“They ruined your childhood. I won't let them go free,” he spat.“But why? This isn't your fight. It's mine. I'm the one seeking revenge against them. Why did you have to promise?” Olive asked desperately.Wayne smirked sarcastically and it faded few seconds later.“Because I hate it when people toy with what's mine. Let alone ruin it completely. You're mine. My m
Alpha Knight was waiting patiently for her, his arms still crossed. She bit her lower lip and crouched down again to fully remove her socks. She laid them gently on the jacket she had tossed to the ground earlier. Then she straightened up and held her t-shirt to pull it off.“Turn around,” she told him.He cocked his head sideways and raised his brow at her.“Why?” he asked.Well, she was his mate. But still, she didn't want to undress in front of him already. It was just a few days she knew who he was to her. She wasn't that cheap! Her wolf literally rolled her eyes. Olive who used to sleep with strange men for The Vrek Cult?Alpha Knight chuckled as he saw her hesitation. He turned around and she hurriedly removed her shirt, exposing her black lacy bra cupping her womanly moulds.“Don't turn until I'm in the water,” she ordered.“Aye aye, mate,” the amused Wayne replied. Yes, he was amused. A minute ago she was lusting over his body and now she was extremely shy of him. Women would
“What? No, I shouldn't. You're the Alpha here. I can't disrespect you like that,” Olive counteracted and looked away.“Does Dolly call me Alpha?” Wayne asked.“She's your sister. And also an Alpha female in this pack. What am I?” she asked casually and shrugged.“My mate. And future Luna,” he answered her casual question. She froze and stared at him.“Future…Luna?” she asked unbelievably.“What? Don't tell me you didn't know you were going to be my Luna.”“I…I didn't think you'd…you'd accept me. I tried to kill you, remember?”“And I tried to kill you too, remember?”How could she not remember? The whips from Cynthia, the mockery from his men. The fear when he was approaching her. That was one of the worst fears of her life.“Besides, do you think I would have met my mate if she didn't try to assassinate me?” he asked and Olive gulped. That was quite meaningful. She had fought against the order that she would be the one to kill him. She had regretted going on the mission even after sh
“I half expected you'd not give me back my dagger,” King Xandros joked as soon as he stepped out of the forest, the way he had done two days before. Only Wayne and Olive were standing there to meet him. The others had mostly returned to Balendin Pack earlier. “I just finished one war with a vampire, I'm not quite ready to start another,” Alpha Knight joked in the same light. The vampire king laughed. It was so soft and innocent a stranger could fall for it. If he didn't see the fangs that is.“Wise of you. Very wise. Well, thank you for bringing it back.”He lifted his hand and the dagger lying on the soil rose to meet it. King Xandros looked it over, examining every crystal on it and the way the moon's glow bounced off the sharp blade.“It's not a fake. It's the very same knife,” Olive declared. King Xandros smirked.“If it wasn't the same knife, I'd have known the moment I stepped foot on the ground. I'm just... wondering how it felt like to have plunged into Prince Valerik's hea
Olive woke up abruptly after a nightmare. She saw The Baron touching her again and her Firewolf hadn't damned the bloody dampeners this time. She exhaled and rubbed her neck, right over her physically hidden mark. She looked around her and realized she was in a very cosy tent. The walls were icy. Literally icey and as she looked around with compression, she realized her mate had iced the entire tent. Why?“Burning hot you were. So hot you could have barbecued us all from fifty metres away.”Olive looked up to see Mufasa threading carefully towards her on the ice ground. She smiled brightly but couldn't bring herself to hug him. She had no strength.“Beautiful to see you back with us, my dear. Believe me, life without you is not worth living. Especially as your mate took it upon himself to personally see to our premature deaths.”Olive laughed at this. “Here. Drink this all up. It's the Ethe Orbs but for a different purpose for you. You need strength.”Olive gulped it all down but ma
The Baron smirked and Olive would have given anything in the world to just smack it off his face. “That one is very dear to me. He came in two days ago, two days after you came. You both are very dear,” he drawled. “Let him go. Don't you dare hurt him. Or any one of them!”“Sssh now. I said I wouldn't keep them if you complied. I'll free them if you strip.”“Never.”He shrugged.“Well then. I'm very sure this suit doesn't stop them from getting a brain rush. They can stay upside down for as long as it takes for them to choke on their own blood.”Olive exhaled and shut her eyes. She tried to summon something, anyone, anything. But she was blank on the inside. She looked at the manacles around her ankle and gritted her teeth. She knew what they were. Special Vrek Cult punishing tools. “I see you recognize the dampeners. Good. You will remain helpless for as long as it would take to get you to cooperate.”With this, The Baron flicked his hand and darkness clothed the cave again. His c
The safety edge was drawn up again for the third time in two weeks of nonstop fighting. This time, however, the Unbidden Army seemed to be dwindling in their numbers. Hopefully, they would soon run out of all unbidden warriors and The Baron would show himself for the final battle.Alpha Knight's hair was chin length now and he had it tied to the back of his head in a small ponytail. The effect of using his powers was shown in the growth rate of his hair.He was now standing in one of the tents, receiving reports of the war and how the people enclosed in their safety facilities were faring. A huge frown was on his face as he listened to a new report. Some of his soldiers were missing and they had last been sighted while fighting.“It's extremely strange. Even their mind links have been silenced. Nothing from them, as if they are dead,” one of the commanders revealed.Alpha Knight shut his eyes and traced them. He felt their auras and followed the trail. It kept going and going and goin
The suits were ready in two days. They were this full-body, extremely fitting like-a-second-skin, midnight blue, superhero-like suits. They clung to the bodies of the soldiers like wet polyester and were as tough as metal when struck from the outside. However, they weren't heavy neither did the soldiers feel like they were wearing the toughest and strongest uniform on earth. Impenetrable. After training with the new uniforms and suits for a whole day, Alpha Knight called the next day a day of partial rest then the following day they would move out to war. A pathway had been created from their park to the hideout location of The Baron by the joint work of Ami, Lutz and more Alchemists. All they had to do was march through the massive pathway only the Alpha family could control and they would wage war on the side out of the blue. The partial rest day had already begun, soldiers were milling around fully dressed, weapons strapped in and ready for war. But they were laughing and jesting
The hustle and bustle in the pack was evident even to a napping baby. The entire pack had more tension than the electrical tension wires around the pack. Pack members were growing nervous and fearful, with all the rumours of war and vampires flying around. Some were trying to leave the pack but Alpha Knight ordered that no one left. At first, it seemed like a tyrant command. But it soon became clear to them that if they had left the pack and were attacked, what would they do? None of the packs had the security that Balendin Pack had, and surely they wouldn't even accept them in. The human world was out of the question for those who had never left their realm. If they fled Balendin Pack at the moment, they would just be rogues—not accepted in any pack and not able to return to their own pack. There was also that fear surrounding the rumours of disappearing rogues. It could be anything. Alpha Knight had summoned his generals and commanders, ordering them to get troops ready to be depl
“Gia's head!” Olive gasped, a chill running down her spine at the revelation.Wayne nodded, his jaw locked tight.“That's what it looks like,” he affirmed. “What's the order, Alpha,?” Jake inquired, his face just as rigid as his Alpha's. “Send orders to get her detained at the border. She shouldn't step foot on our land. Send word to General Kalif to meet me at the board room in five minutes.”Jake nodded and bounded off immediately. Olive crossed her arms.“What are you thinking?” she asked. His thoughts were quite jumbled up she couldn't understand a thing.“Wondering why he went this extra length just to send a message,” he answered and began to walk. They followed after him. “Wayne, what if it's a trap?” Shem asked.“That is also crossing my mind,” his brother answered.Olive exhaled as they got into the elevator. Her heart was racing. If that was truly Gia's head, then The Baron had just used her and now disposed her off. Typical villain behaviour. She never liked Gia but she
The camp was empty safe for a massive building that was like a stone tower. There was a huge field surrounding it, cleared clean of trees, shrubs and plants. Calor could smell it.“Damn, it that's foul!” Olive sneered and gagged. “The Unbidden Army. They smell dead,” Astra explained. “But where are they?” Wayne asked, looking at the camp through Astra's vision too.“Underground, in that building. Laying low,” she replied. A few men with thick leather hoods were stationed outside, and there was an occasional movement of other people to and from the tower. A few tents were pitched on the field and they contained a few people.“How can we attack and besiege this place? It doesn't look impossible but...I kinda feel like there's more to this place than any we see,” Olive noted.“You shouldn't even be seeing this place in the first place,” Calor communicated. “Why?”“Because it's warded. Heavily warded to be simply invisible. No one should see or access it. But we can. And by that, I me
The van parked in front of the castle and they alighted. The fresh air hit their faces and Olive took in a deep breath. She was home. Oh, she missed home so much. She couldn't wait to see the guys. Alpha Knight came around her and sneaked his arm around her waist.“How does it feel?” she asked, looking up into his face as he gazed at his magnificent castle. The sun was setting already and the glow illuminated the building.“Feels like peace,” he answered and looked down at her.“I thought you felt at peace wherever I was?” Wayne chuckled.“I feel at home wherever you are. But I feel at peace when you're home with me.”Olive rolled her eyes.“You're just good with words,” she muttered and he laughed. “Are we heading in or gazing at the castle like it's a new building?” Jake asked as he made his way towards the entrance. Olive chuckled and followed after Jake, with Wayne right beside her. Her Guard followed behind them and they entered the castle together. Guards nodded pleasantly at
