Isabella's Notes

Silence in the room again. Until Dr. Lance began to move using his stick again.

“I was determined never to let you both go, because there was something that drew me to Isabella. I don't regret keeping you.”

He looked at Walter and there was shrouded fondness in his eyes, one he was trying hard not to show.

“After she put to birth, she begged me to take care of you. That she had to go until it was safe to bring you over. I was heartbroken she was leaving but a part of me was content I had you, a bit of Isabella. I was so in love I didn't care you belonged to a different father. I loved you and cared for you until you were four. And your mother appeared in a gasping and breathless scene, right on my front porch one night. She was so pale. So white and ashen. Her neck was punctured deep. She was dying but I knew what to do. She had warned me and taught me what to do if we were at the verge of death.”

“The replenisher,” Walter breathed and Dr. Lance nodded.
