Chapter 152

Kairen's POV

The minty rush of his breath against my ear did a lot of things to my insides. I was stuck to him—voluntarily. My mind became mush, all gooey and a blob of wild nothingness, because indeed, nothing else mattered in that moment but the feeling of him against me.

All around us, bodies moved, but we remained still, caught in a silent dance of our own.

His hands grasped my waist and gently turned me around. Pleasant warmth took over his face the moment his eyes touched my face.

“Kairen,” he said in a single breath. Anyone listening to him would have thought I was his long lost wife that had just returned after being away for a long time.

His hand lifted, halfway to my hair, before he stopped himself and removed his hands from my waist entirely. Making us separate entities once again.

He looked at himself awkwardly for a moment, before masking it all with a small smile. “I didn't expect to see you here.”
