Chapter 68

Alpha Kai's POV

“This is absurd,” I mutter, pacing around. We have all gathered outside the pack house.

“Take a seat, Kai,” Ace said, looking straight ahead at the clearing where the duel was going to take place.

“Don't you think this is wrong? She's going to die. We've all gathered around to witness that,” I reply, taking a seat beside Ace.

“Let's have faith in Lexa. If she says she knows what she's doing, let's trust she does,” he said. I stare at him unbelievably. Does she know what she's doing? Alexa? Someone who can't even shift or have any war experience is about to have a duel with a wolf who is experienced. The only way I see this ending today is her being torn to shreds.

“This is going to end in a bloodbath. I can't just sit here and watch a member of my pack die,” I insist.

“There's nothing that can be done again, Alpha and why do you look so stressed?” the chief replies, giving me a wary look.

“I'm not stressed,” I answer.
