I slipped out of the pack house, careful to close the door softly behind me. The cool evening air nipped at my skin, moving swiftly down the gravel path as I made my way to my home office. Pax and Hunter were already waiting for me there. We needed privacy for our discussion about the next set of plans; too many eyes and ears in the pack house could jeopardise our strategy. Felicity’s abilities meant she could appear anywhere without warning, and I wanted to minimise that risk by meeting where fewer people would be around. Keeping her as far from the pack house as possible was a priority; it felt like she had an uncanny knack for turning up at the worst times.

Stacey was there, and things were finally good between us. It helped to know she was on my side. I wasn’t going to put her at risk.
