Grayclaw Ridge is a cesspool of debauchery. A werewolf city where those who want people to turn a blind eye do. The crime in this city is unlike any other and I have been summoned to do one of my favourite jobs. Tracking down a lowly human slave who has run off with a ruby ring of her master. Tut tut.
I tuck my hood up, walking down the cobbled narrow streets as the rain pours relentlessly. I have nothing but a picture of the girl in question. A frail looking red head no doubt starved and beaten by her master. It’s hardly a wonder why she stole from him, not that I care. I will be paid for my services with the bonus of hearing her scream and begging for mercy. I feel my blood zing at the thrill of it.
I turn down another lane, one where the wretched layout on the street begging for anything money, food in exchange for the only product they can give. Their bodies. I suspect my conquest will be down here, no doubt lying low. I smirk, my fingers itching to touch her skin, feel the beat of her pulse quicken before I begin her punishment.
I see a pair of striking blue eyes lock onto mine, freezing momentarily before the girl takes off down the street, knocking into various passers-by looking for their nightly conquest. “Watch it!” a gruff man cries as he pays a woman, lowering his trousers for her. The woman looks close to death. I guess this will be her last meal. I see a flash of red and charge after her. I know it is the girl I am looking for. Why else would she run from me?
I chase after her with ease but slow my pace, wanting to give her a slither of hope that maybe just maybe she might just escape. It’s just so much more thrilling seeing that spark fade from their eyes when they believe they have finally evaded me. Still, tonight I’m not in the mood for a long chase. Tonight, I want this over with.
She turns the corner, disappearing from sight and I use a cut through in the wall to catch up with her. In the shadows I hide as she scans the deserted warehouse, checking to see if I have followed the poor little love. If only she knew how close I truly was. I see her let out that precious sigh of relief. Her shoulders relax and a glimmer of a smile appears on her face before I snap my fingers on the match. The flicker of a flame appears in the shadows. I watch as the little colour in her cheeks fades and her eyes bulge.
“Please don’t do this. He was a monster. I just needed some money to escape. You have no idea how he treated me,” she begs, staring into the dark as tears stream down her face. It’s probably true. After all, everyone knows why a werewolf would want a human slave. Still, her fear feasters into all areas of the room as she gasps for breath, only sealing her fate and my enjoyment.
I step out from the shadows as she trembles before me. She is a tiny thing. This won’t take long at all. I can already hear her heart thundering in her chest. I tilt my head to the side as the match burns out, her breath clouding the air before I relight it again, inches from her face. “Please,” she whispers, her throat closing up as she begs one last time.
I look at her deep blue eyes as she trembles some more, dropping the match to the floor as I grab hold of her shoulders, trapping her in place. My nose itches when I smell the scent of her wee permeates the air. “I won’t make this quick. I like hearing screams,” I whisper menacingly as the flames begin to engulf around us. The fire catches hold of both of us as her first shriek sounds. She tries to fight her way out but is unable to. The pain is already too much for her frail body to bear.
The stench of burning flesh fills the air and I laugh, inhaling deeply as she lets out one final shriek before her body goes unconscious, the flames licking up her arms. I snicker, her red hair blending with the fire that consumes her. I drop her to the ground, checking her pocket for the ruby ring she stole. It is indeed beautiful as I pocket it, walking out of the fire as the flames consume her.
Elio I sat mesmerised by the flickering flames of the fire, transfixed as the next log began to burn. There is something truly hypnotic about watching a fire. Suddenly, a cloud of smoke caught my attention, followed by a brief glimpse of a pair of piercing emerald eyes. I leaned back in my comfortable leather armchair, absentmindedly rubbing my chin, only to realise that I had nearly forgotten about my future bride-to-be. Her family had begged for her to have a year to find her mate. Not that I give a shit, but there was something about the girl that intrigued me I indulged them. Not that it would have made a difference if she found her mate or not. I would have taken her, anyway. Her thistle of a father had nothing but blackmail and debts to offer me as a trade. I nearly killed him for making a deal he couldn’t repay when he offered his daughter like a sacrificial lamb for me. I made him sign a blood oath so there was no possibility of him being able to back out. His daughter dis
Elio I headed back to my room feeling tired. I needed to make the trip to the Silvermoon pack. It was roughly three hours’ drive away. Even so, I would have preferred someone else to make the journey. I had met my bride-to-be on one occasion. It’s another reason I followed through on the deal. She intrigued me. My wolf also seemed to take an interest in her. Not unusual, but still I was surprised, as she didn’t fit my normal type. I had always wanted a strong alpha female to be by my side, not some … omega. No matter what my brother says, it works for him perfectly, but not me. I had plans. I was due to secure two new packs under me. I needed a luna who had a strong stomach and could handle the type of work I do. (Flashback) I had received an invitation to some alpha and luna’s ceremony, odd considering we didn’t really do that type of thing. The only time I helped out another alpha was to take over his pack. Still, my wolf was rather insistent that I attend. Perhaps it was devil
Kara The air was sucked out of the room. All I could hear was the pounding of my heart and Caleb’s footsteps as he approached the door. Goddess, I don’t know if I can survive through this again? I know what it is like to be free. How can I go back to being cadged? I can’t. I feel the urge to run but I’m sat frozen on the spot. I feel something brush my arm, a shiver trickling down my spine. I can’t take my eyes off the door. Thud thud thud, tick tock, tick tock. The last few sands fall from the hourglass as Caleb opens the door. In walks a man I have seen before, his dangerous aura blasting around him, and I see everyone else flinching. I can feel it, but I don’t know why it doesn’t affect me like everyone else. Is it because my wolf is wild and doesn’t like to bow down to authority? Two other men flank him; one looks similar to him with the same dangerous vibe, shorter than he is but wider as he seems to have muscles on top of muscles. The next guy behind him looks familiar and I t
Kara I calmly head upstairs. Guess my plan to escape out the window is now useless. Still, I’m sure there is a way around it. I don’t know what this blood oath means, but surely there is some … wiggle room? I hear his heavy feet climb the stairs behind me. When I look back over my shoulder, all my family and his men are waiting at the bottom. They all stare up at us, making me bite my lip. This is not how I imagined my family reacting to my betrothed, but then again, I never pictured anything like this. I keep the package hidden just about in my jeans pocket. It barely fits, and if it wasn’t for the baggy knit jumper I was wearing, I have no idea how I was going to hide it. I also didn’t need Elio watching me. I’m sure he would be suspicious of what’s inside. For that reason, he can’t catch me with it. When we reach my bedroom, I step in, going to close the door on him when his foot wedges the door open. “I told you we need to chat, little wolf,” his tone is commanding as he pushe
Kara After three long brooding hours, we were finally getting close to the Crimson Moon Pack. I had never seen anything like it. The size of the pack was bigger than some of the human cities I had visited. It was incredibly cold, the dark starry sky shone like diamonds against the black canvas. I could just make out the shape of the huge tan wall that acted as a barricade surrounding the entire city. The place was a fortress. As we drove over the sand dunes, I wondered how I would survive the heat here. It’s unusual for wolves to pick a place where there are little to no trees or plants as far as the eye can see. Despite its desert state, it was rather beautiful. There were towers and turrets everywhere I could see. How did they all survive this heat? No wonder Elio was powerful. Who would challenge him when the elements are this fierce? I was feeling weak from lack of food and drink. Was he really going to starve me? Didn’t he need to eat or drink to survive? I glanced up at him,
KaraHis brother comes up, pulling his shoulder to release me as I gag for air. Elio takes a few steps back and I can see the two of them are mind linking. My lower lip trembles as I snap my eyes shut. How could I have been so stupid? I know what I need to do to survive. Why would I risk my life? His threat circles in my head about not being his wife over and over. I take another breath. I need to play this smart. Being his wife comes with security, respect so many advantages I would have. If I lose that, what will become of me? He won’t just lock me up and throw away the key, not if his tone is anything to go by. He will choose something to punish me, humiliate me. Then, when I crave death, he will find some other torment. No Kara, you can do this. I chant as I force my wolf back, the oxygen recirculating my body, making it easier to control her. When I look up at both of them, they are both staring at me. “This is my brother, Cahya. He is the beta of this pack. I have also told him
KaraI close the door to my bedroom. Goddess, it is five times the size of mine back home. I turn, seeing a little peephole through the door and sure enough, Marquis is still waiting outside. I need to calm down … perhaps a bath and some food will help. It’s hard to feel trapped when I can do cartwheels across the floor. I have never seen a room so big. There is a huge king size bed that I will drown in. it has its own curtain around the top of the bed frame. One wall is all arches with a view of the entire city. There is a walk-in wardrobe that I will use one shelf of with all the clothes I packed. Not that it matters, as the wardrobe is stocked with dresses, shoes, trousers, tops, jumpers, jackets. Anything I could ever want or need for my lifetime of servitude. Wonderful.I refuse to linger there too long. If I do, I will probably find ways for my mind to trick me into thinking he bought all these items for me. That he took the care to choose what I would wear. But I doubt it. It
Kara Despite the dark, damp smell that is coming from the twisted corridor, I decided to take a step. If they don’t know this corridor is here, perhaps … This could lead to me getting out of the castle. Then what I don’t know, but curiosity got the better of me, so I carried on all the same. I had only ever read one book when I was younger. It was a about 12 princesses who lived in a castle and would escape to dance all night with their prince. I wonder if this would lead me to my prince? The uneven steps made it tricky to manoeuvre down the further I went the light from my room began to disappear. Not that it mattered as a werewolf I can see easily in the dark, but there is something comforting about light. The sound of water dripping on some of the steps echoed through the air, making them slippery to walk on. Where does this lead? Once I was completely submerged in the darkness, there was a fork in my path, left, or right? This was a little tricky, as now I wasn’t sure where to

Kara 5 years later Chaos reigned in every direction. As an omega, I like things clean and tidy but with kids … impossible, especially when you find yourself surrounded by their cousins and friends. Six, there were six of them. Elio thank the goddess was with me. I had agreed to look after Luca whilst Aurora was having a few issues with the twins. The triplets were there, along with our two Xander and Aria, and Addison, who had suddenly joined our pack. Addison was the same age as Aria, and they generally got along. “MUM!!!! Aria is doing it again!” Xander bellowed from across the hall. He’s such a sweet boy, but his sister sure gets under his skin. “Aria, what are you doing to your poor brother now?” I ask as I see her trying to stuff jelly into his ears and nose. Addison, I can see hiding behind the Xander as she tries to hand him a tissue to help get the jelly out. “Where did this jelly come from?” I ask as she shrugs, batting her lashes, looking at the picture of innocence. I hea
Kara 5 months later I rubbed my rather enormous belly once more, feeling my little pup kick. It turns out Elio had been right, and I was pregnant after my heat. I was relieved because I’m not sure how much I enjoyed feeling my insides burn unless he was pounding me raw. Although I will have to think of something because I’m not pumping out kids like my sister has done to avoid her heat. Although considering she has an extra 7 days on me, I can see why she does. I was sitting in Aaliyah and Cahya’s quarters whilst we put together the final touches of our plan regarding the omega floor and hierarchy of our pack. We wanted status to be determined by rank that was earned, not because of their blood. Both Elio and Cahya had come clean to the pack they were hybrids … it took them a few more months to tell the pack what kind of hybrid but as Baylee and Marquis had insisted they can’t protect their alpha if they don’t know what the pack could be up against. They had also told Elio they had
Elio “Marquis don’t let anyone come to my floor and ignore all and any of your lunas requests,” I link him as I see him taking his place at the bottom of the steps nodding at me as I walk by, “Yes alpha,” I can still make out Kara’s screams from the floor above. I headed to the cells expeditiously enough, checking on Naomi first as I inspected her back. “Use the silver whip tomorrow and a dash of wolfsbane never hurt either,” I reminded the guard as he smiled knowingly before I turned, heading for Katie’s cell. “Of course, alpha,” he tells me as I reach the next cell. Katie, in comparison, looked much better now, wearing some of Kara’s clothes after her shower as she licked her fingers, the chocolate frosting covering all of her digits as she stuffed her face. She looked up, seeing me there before she excavated more cake into her mouth. Half of it smeared around her face. I’m surprised she wasn’t sick. She swallowed down her mouthful before she gave me a look. “You don’t waste any t
Elio I waited upstairs for Kara to return and when she did; I noticed her sleeves were waiting, and she had a deep frown on her face. “What happened?” she told me everything as I listened and waited for her to finish my jaw clenching around some of the details but still she continued. I was sitting by the fire as I watched the flames flicker, their heat warming my skin. I pulled Kara in to my lap as she finished speaking. “Have you headed the name Tobin Adnet before?” she asked, biting her lip with eyes wide. It was concerning, they had enlisted a witch to help them. I wish I thought of it sooner. I shook my head as I settled my hands on her waist when an image of a man appeared in the flames. He looked strangely familiar, which posed several problems. “I know what she did was wrong, but I need you to show mercy to them. The pack was just following orders and Katie has suffered enough. I know she has. Please,” it was her plea that mollified me or I may not have agreed. “Fine, I’ll h
Kara I headed down to the cells. The temperature dropped noticeably down here. A metallic scent permeated the air while patches of dark red dried blood on the walls and floor sent a shiver down my spine. I had no expectations for how Katie might react seeing me, in truth I hadn’t known her all that long and she had always been so warm and kind to me that I looked past any red flags she may have had or didn’t want to pry into her or Dawsons bond. Perhaps if I had, things would be different. She wouldn’t be rotting in a cell and her mate and other pack members killed. Having said that, it could be the case seeing her pack is responsible for all the silver bullets killing wolves. When I reach her cell, the guards standing close by I gasp, seeing the state she is in. When I reach her cell, I gasp at the state she is in - her hair, usually bouncing and shiny, is now matted at the ends and greasy on top. Dirt stains covered her clothes everywhere, leaving them tattered. She was also extre
Kara I still had the smug grin on my face as I walked into Aaliyah’s hospital room, where she was holding two beautiful babies and Cahya was holding one. She had triplets, two girls and a boy, the cutest little munchkins since Luca. Their mocha coloured skin and bright blue eyes with a few tufts of red hair made them all so gorgeous. Aaliyah looked exhausted as she cuddled them. Cahya beamed with pride as he boasted to Marquis and Baylee about how they were the most handsome and beautiful kids and if they ever had kids, they would not be as beautiful as his. Candice sat with Aaliyah, wiping her brow that still had a light sheen of sweat, while the doctor rushed out and gave Cahya a weary look. I wonder precisely what had occurred before we arrived. No wonder he was in such a hurry to get back. “Where’s Elio?” Aaliyah asked, a sleepy expression on her face, but despite how challenging her delivery had been, she seemed to glow. “He’ll be in shortly,” I told her as I came to sit by the
Elio Kara’s cheeks burnt red and I resisted teasing her further, although she was trying with all her might to pry me off of her. The door clicked open, and she screamed as my lips popped from her hard bud. Our doctor had barely taken a step before I mind linked him to stop him entering further. “Can you meet us in the room next to mine?” I demanded, as Kara shuddered above me. The door swiftly closed as she glared at me, despite her body reacting to every flick of my tongue. Seeing as we didn’t have much time, I dropped her back into the bath, the water splashing over the sides as I quickly helped clean her. Her fingernails dug into my wrist as she gripped the rim of the tub with the other. “Elio, what are you doing!” she pants and honestly, I’m not sure if I’m trying to help clean her or get her off once more. “Be quick, little wolf. You don’t have long,” she snarls at me in response as the water splashes between her legs before her legs shake as she bites her lip, trembling before
KaraThe sun shone through the window, heating my skin as I winced. Every cell in my body hurt, I peered my eyes open seeing the carnage around me tables and chair knocked over clothes and bedding ripped. My core was on fire and not in a good way. It felt like an endless train had passed right through me. “Ouch” I tried sitting up, but that just made everything worse. I felt the bed dip beside me. I knew who it was his scent told me everything I needed to know. When I gazed into his eyes, though, the look he gave me wasn’t what I expected. It was stern … detached even. “Elio?” my voice was hoarse as I swallowed, feeling a burn. Oh god, how long did my heat last?“How are you feeling?” his voice was icy as I frowned, wondering what he could be unhappy about now. I was the one with the insides melting, turning to fire unless he touched me. Even when he did, there was the pain of having him inside for so long, but it was nothing compared to the pain of trying to move away from him. My bo
