DANE

I couldn't believe my bullhead brothers were fighting over who to stay behind and who wouldn't. That should be the least of our problems right now.

The look in Kane's eyes was dangerous and I knew I had to step in because they wouldn't just stop at words, fists would be hurled too.

"Both of you stop it!" I snarled.

This was what the prophecy had said, and these bull-headed brothers of mine were being unreasonable by arguing about who was being petty and who wasn't.

When I mentioned prophecy, they seemed to calm down a little.

"Zane, this isn't about being a hero, Sierra's life is on the line." I was mad at him for thinking that life was all about looking good in front of our mate.

Turning to Kane, I signed. "You're right, one of us has to stay behind to look after Sierra and inform Dad and Maya."

"That's what I've been trying to say but this dude here refused to listen." Kane huffed.

"If you're so right, why don't you stay behind while we go down to the wastelands?" Zane snapped

CLAIREThe sound of my father's voice sent a wave of relief down my spine. His presence always gave me an assurance making me want to do anything and get away with it.The principal's hold on my arm loosened and I shrugged him off."Dad,” I drawled, staring at him with very teary eyes. "My princess," He sent me a reassuring smile then growled at the principal not minding King Thane."What's going on here?" He asked, "I heard rumors of rogues on the school premises." The principal scratched his head looking confused. "Rumors sure spread like wildfire," Dane muttered angrily while glaring at me. I rolled my eyes at him in response. "Let me go," I grumbled trying to free my hand from King Thane's hold. "If you'd excuse me, King Thane, my child is innocent." My father sent him a look and he slowly let go of my hand. Turning back to the principal he raised a brow. "I asked a question." The principal eyes darted around. "We are still investigating what happened," he glanced at me the

KANE"These rogues sure love the sewers," Zane grunted as we struggled to pass through the muddy waste."It's called a wasteland for a reason, Zane," I replied, trying my best to reduce the amount of talking and increase my pace. "Eww." Zane retched.I shook my head ignoring him.He sure was taking the whole scene a lot better than I imagined. We were on our way to the wastelands and the journey so far hasn't been a smooth one. From having to run up a mountain filled with sharp stones and lots of death traps, a missed step could get one killed, to walking through a land where sewages were deposited, I wondered what next awaited us ahead. My mind wandered to Sierra's bloodied clothes and her unconscious face, her face that had lost its glow and looking so dull made my heart ache painfully.I wanted to see her smile once again, I wished to see her standing and giggling about or even picking up a fight with me. Her smile strengthened me, it gave me the push to carry on."Do you think i

ZANEI was stunned at Kane's words and did not know how to take his declaration. At first, I wanted to grab him by the neck and shake him till he changed his decision but I thought better, we were still close to the rogue's territory and there was every probability of them catching up with us. "What made you change your mind?" I tried to remain calm and collected. "I mean," I rephrased, "when and why did you change your mind?" I asked.Did he finally discover how charming Sierra was? Or did nearly losing her unlock something in him?"I can't place a finger to it yet but-" A howling sound from a distance interrupting him. The rogues were catching up, and what was worse was that time wasn't on our side, Sierra needed us. The antidote too."Let's save Sierra first" I replied, shoving the conversation under the carpet."Fine, but it won't change my resolve, and I'm not backing down either. She makes me feel things I thought I could never feel. I tried to curb those feelings." Kane said

SIERRAMy eyes fluttered open making me groan from the sudden bright light in the room. I closed my eyes again trying to get used to the lights in the room.Sudden pain hits me and spreads all around my body making me groan. Memories from earlier flashed through my mind.I shuddered as I recalled the rogues circling me with their tongues dripping saliva as they anticipated their next meal. The triplets had come to my rescue but the rogues were determined to hurt me.Tears dropped from my eyes as the pain became unbearable. Closing my eyes, I heard a ringing sound in my ears while I groaned. My whole body felt as though it was on fire."Sierra, baby can you hear me?" My mother's voice sounded as though she was screaming my name from a distance. I felt her hand touch my cheek and I instantly felt warm."Baby, mama's here." She held my hands tightly to her bosom and I forced my eyes open. They rested on her.She was sitting by my side with a smile on her face while tears dropped from he

SIERRAFeeling drained, I decided to get up from the bed and walk, hoping it would help calm my racing heart. The window was opened and the evening sun peeked into my room. Feeling exposed, I tugged at the window blinds, pulling them down. They were no longer here but I could still feel their presence in my room making my heart ponder. I stood in front of the mirror staring at myself. My eyes looked sad and almost lifeless, my hair was still packed in a bun but it was rough and resembled a bird nest.My fingers strayed to the spot where I was injured and a panicked voice screamed in my head.Don't look, don't!Ignoring the voice, I stared at the scar left. The wound was gone as well as the bloodstains, but I was left with a permanent reminder of what nearly killed me. Slowly, my fingers trailed along the spot, perhaps hoping to feel the pain that I ought to, but nothing, I was left with a trophy that reminded me of how weak and vulnerable I was.The first tear escaped, and I felt

THANEMy heart went out to Maya and her daughter, thankfully, the antidote had worked perfectly and she was okay now. As I walked out of my room heading downstairs for a meeting, I overheard Sierra speaking to the boys.Despite our constant warnings whenever she mentioned the ritual, she was still hellbent on going ahead with it, and what was more shocking was that she needed it to be done urgently. I hoped we had more time to convince her not to go on with it. The door was opened so I entered. "Sierra," I called out softly to her, she turned back to stare at me."Thane." Her eyes were red and swollen, she must have been crying hard. "Thank goodness you're here." She smiled but it didn't reach her eyes. "I was just telling the boys that I needed the ritual done as soon as possible if you could please-" "Sierra, take it slow," I said trying to be calm, she was quite determined but it was a very bad decision to make. Her shoulders relaxed a bit."I know how eager you might feel ri

THANENot wanting to give Erin the satisfaction of being arrogant, I smirked at him trying to hide my anger.I beckoned to the guard standing closest to me, "Bring in the guest." I ordered. Then to Erin, I said, "I can barely understand your grievances," his eyes held a surprise, he wasn't expecting me to say that. "However, you'll have to wait before leaving, it's bad manners to keep a guest waiting." The tone I used demanded no reply. He kept quiet and then went back to his seat fuming. We all waited in silence till we could hear the approaching footsteps of the guard and the guest. The door opened revealing the principal of our children's school. The Alphas gasped. He was the last person everyone was expecting to see in a gathering of Alphas. He walked through the aisle towards my throne-like chair. Then bent down with his knee on the floor in reverence. "My King." Nodding my head at him in acknowledgment of his reverence, I replied, "Rise." I ordered. He scrambled to his feet

ERINI couldn't believe my eyes, it was Claire, she was holding a black bag ready to hand it over to the man black. A weird feeling of embarrassment curled inside my stomach making me uncomfortable. I defended her and made her the victim while she went behind me to plot an attack on a person. She heard me argue about her innocence and hadn't said a word to me. She was there the whole time while I caused a scene in the Alpha king's home and she was quiet. My fingers shook as I stared at the pictures on the ground, I didn't realize when they fell off my hands."Cat got your tongue now, Erin?" I heard a voice sneer in the room and another person snickered.I willed for the ground to open up and swallow me."How can someone be so shameless and unthoughtful?" Their voices were low but I could hear it loud and clear. "What if our kids were harmed in the process?" "She must have the mind of the devil for her to have such evil thoughts." The old man spat."This wasn't just thoughts, she c

SIERRADane was the first to break the silence. “Isolde?” he echoed, his voice filled with disbelief. “What the hell is she talking about, Sierra?”I swallowed hard, shaking my head. “I don’t know,” I admitted. “And honestly? I don’t care right now.”Zane’s grip tightened around his blade. “You don’t care? Some stranger just called you by another name, an old name. What if this means something?”“It doesn’t matter,” I insisted. “What matters is stopping these vampires before they tear this town apart. We have a mission.”“What about her warning, Isolde? The past will not stay buried.” Zane said, his eyes narrowing slightly.I clenched my fists. “Whatever that means, I’ll deal with it later. Right now, we need to find the white oak stake. I have to protect everyone in this village, and that can be done with the oak tree.”Zane exhaled sharply. “Are you sure about this?”“Yes,” I said firmly. “I need you both to help me find it.”Dane and Zane exchanged uneasy glances. It was clear they

SIERRAThe forest was silent, almost too silent. Dane moved ahead of me, his sharp eyes scanning every shadow, while Zane walked beside me, his body tense and ready for a fight. The map in my hands felt heavier than it should as if it carried the weight of every failed attempt before us.“We need to move fast,” Dane whispered. “The longer we stay out here, the more likely they’ll sense us.”I nodded. “Stay close. We can’t afford to be separated.”We pressed on, careful with every step. Then, the air around us shifted. A cold gust of wind blew through the trees, carrying a strange scent, something old, something rotten.Zane stiffened. “Do you smell that?”I swallowed hard. “Yeah. Death.”As we stepped forward, the ground beneath us changed. The lush forest floor gave way to something unnatural, a graveyard. But this wasn’t just any graveyard. Broken weapons lay scattered among the graves, burnt stakes sticking out of the earth like forgotten warnings.“This place…” Dane muttered, crou

SIERRAThe night air was thick with fear. I could feel it pressing against me, swirling around the town like a ghost. The vampires had grown stronger, and everyone knew it. Their attacks were getting bolder, their hunger more relentless. We were running out of time.“This is madness,” a villager muttered, his voice shaky. “We can’t fight them. We should leave while we still can.”Murmurs of agreement spread through the gathered crowd. People clutched their loved ones, their eyes darting toward the woods as if expecting a vampire to leap out at any moment.“We don’t stand a chance,” another woman whispered. “They’re too strong.”A man stepped forward, his face pale. “My wife and son are already gone. I won’t lose my daughter, too.”I clenched my fists. “Running won’t save you,” I said firmly, scanning the crowd. “The vampires won’t stop at just this town. They’ll follow you. They’ll take everything.”Silence fell over the villagers. Some avoided my gaze, shifting uncomfortably. Others

SIERRAThe dark mist thickened around the cave, pulsing like a living heartbeat. The grandmother’s voice grew louder, her ancient words echoing through the night. Every syllable sent a shiver down my spine.“We have to stop her!” I shouted, gripping Dane’s arm. “Now!”Alpha Thane growled, stepping forward. “We must break the ritual before it’s too late.”I raised my hands, willing my power to surge forward, to do something, anything. But nothing happened. My mind was blank, my body frozen. It was like I had forgotten how to use my own magic.“Damn it!” I hissed, frustration bubbling in my chest.Kane grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to look at him. “Sierra, focus! You can do this. Just remember how!”“I…I don’t know how!” My voice cracked, my breathing ragged. The grandmother laughed, her eyes gleaming with victory. “It’s too late, child. You can’t stop what has already begun.”The villagers suddenly twitched, their bodies jerking as if strings controlled them. Their blank eyes filled

SIERRAThe air crackled with energy, thick and heavy, making it hard to breathe. I barely had time to react before a powerful force exploded from the girl’s body, knocking me and the boys backward. I hit the ground hard, my palms scraping against the rough dirt. My ears rang from the sudden blast, and my heart pounded wildly in my chest.Around us, objects lifted into the air, stones, broken branches, even small patches of dirt. They spun wildly, caught in an invisible storm that had no wind. The ground beneath us shook violently, as if it were alive, trembling under the weight of the girl’s power.“Get down!” Dane shouted. His strong hand grabbed my arm and yanked me to the side just as a thick tree branch snapped free from above. It hurtled toward us, slicing through the air like a thrown spear. It crashed into the ground inches from where we had just been standing, sinking deep into the dirt with a loud, sickening crunch. My breath hitched. If we had moved a second later, that woul

SIERRAI knelt beside one of the fallen locals, pressing two fingers against his neck. His pulse was steady, his chest rising and falling as if he were simply asleep. But no matter how much I shook him, called his name, or even lightly slapped his cheek, he wouldn’t wake up.“They’re in a trance,” I muttered, realization sinking in. My heart pounded. This wasn’t just some spell, it was powerful, something dark.Dane crouched beside me, his expression grim. “Can you break it?”“I don’t know.” I swallowed hard, looking around. More bodies lay scattered, lifeless yet breathing. A shiver ran down my spine.A gust of wind rushed past us, and I turned sharply. Alpha Thane stood at the edge of the clearing, his eyes scanning the scene. “I felt something was wrong,” he said, striding toward us. “What happened?”I quickly explained everything, the spirits, the grandmother, the girl’s uncontrolled powers. His face hardened as I spoke. When I finished, he exhaled sharply.“We don’t have much tim

SIERRAThe light around me grew brighter and brighter until I couldn’t see anything at all. My body felt weightless like I was floating through space. Then, just as suddenly as it had begun, it stopped.I was back.I gasped as my eyes shot open, my heart pounding against my ribs. The room spun for a moment before settling into focus. I was back. The dim glow of the bedside lamp cast shadows across the walls, and the steady rise and fall of breathing filled the space. I turned my head and saw the boys sprawled out beside me, all asleep. My body felt heavy, and drained, but my mind raced with everything I had just seen.A rustle beside me made me jump. My body felt heavy, my limbs sluggish, as if I had been weighed down by something unseen. Before I could process anything, a familiar voice broke through the fog in my mind.“Sierra!”Dane’s voice was thick with relief. His strong hands reached for mine, squeezing tightly, grounding me in reality. His eyes, dark with worry, searched my fa

SIERRADarkness surrounded me, thick and endless, pressing against my skin like a heavy blanket. Then suddenly, light. Blinding, golden light.I gasped, stumbling forward as my feet hit solid ground. My breath came in sharp bursts. This wasn’t the house. This wasn’t anywhere I recognized. The air felt heavy, and charged, like it hummed with energy.Voices whispered all around me, low and urgent.“She’s here.”“She finally made it.”I turned, my eyes scanning the unfamiliar world. My heart nearly stopped when I saw them, figures that looked eerily familiar.Zane? Dane? Kane? No. Not them. Not exactly. Their features were similar, but there was something different about them. Their eyes held an unnatural glow, like reflections of a world I didn’t understand. The way they stood, the way they carried themselves, it was as if they were caught between existing and fading away. And they were all staring right at me.“You see us,” one of them said, stepping forward. His voice was calm, almost

DANE I walked into the house, shutting the door behind me. My brothers were lounging in the living room, and Sierra sat curled up on the couch, her attention shifting to me the moment I entered. Zane raised an eyebrow. "You look like you saw a ghost." "Not a ghost," I muttered, running a hand through my hair. "But something close." Sierra straightened. "What happened?" I sat beside her, exhaling slowly. "That girl. The one we met yesterday. She followed me to the library. Asked for my name and started asking questions about us." Kane frowned. "What kind of questions?" "She wanted to know about my relationship with Sierra… and you guys," I said, glancing at Sierra. "And then she made it clear that she liked me." Sierra’s expression darkened, her lips pressing into a thin line. "She what?" I reached for her hand, squeezing it gently. "I told her it was irrelevant because I’m with you. That what I have with you isn’t up for debate." She still didn’t look convinced. "And?" "She
