5 A Pre-wedding Lesson?

The whole palace was bustling with preparations for my wedding.

The queen purposely let the servants walk around the palace with gold, silver, and jewels, showing that my dowry was very generous. But I know that the only real property that belongs to me is some poor silks.

Ever since the death of the Queen's only child, she has been increasingly harsh of concubines' children. As my father's illness grew worse and worse, the queen became the authority of the royal family, becoming more tyrannical and insane.

Very few children of the royal family survived. Many children die at birth for a variety of reasons. They don't even have names, just a few words in the book about their deaths.

The Queen is the Prime Minister's daughter, with a noble lineage and enviable family. My father did not want to offend the queen and her father for the children of his concubines, so he never pursued the cause of their deaths.

We are his children, but our lives are not even as important to him a
