AURORA POV****

I had not seen Heather since I woke up and left for work, and I knew she was still so mad at me. I wasn’t ready to do whatever she wanted me to. I wasn’t ready for another mate when I was still very much in love with Jackson. it might have been easy for him to let go of me and everything we shared for five years, but it wasn’t the same for me. It wasn’t that easy at all.

I knew deep down that I would run into his arms the moment he returned to his senses, and I felt like I was waiting for a miracle to happen from nowhere.

“We’re here.” The cab driver uttered immediately he halted the car and I instantly snapped out of my thoughts.

“Oh, thank you,” I responded and stepped out of the car. I dipped my hand into my pocket and brought out 50 dollars, then I handed it over the him. Once the cab was gone, I turned around to face the company.

Now that I was thinking about it, my mate owns the company I had always dreamt of working in as a kid. I chuckled to myself, a lot of doubt hovering through my mind all at once. The Thompson Enterprise, that was a fucking huge deal and I was the fated mate of the CEO? I laughed out loud at myself and then began to walk into my workplace.

I was certain that by now, most of the workers who knew that I was dating Jackson would laugh so hard at my face when I walked in, but I was ready to face it. Their laughter and mockery would be nothing compared to what I’ve been through lately. I heaved deeply and stepped in, then I headed straight for my seat.

“There she is. She even had the guts to come to work today after what she did.” I heard a voice behind me say, but I ignored it and remained focused on my laptop.

“Why didn’t she bury her face with a scarf or something before walking in here, it must be so embarrassing!” another said, and then I cleared my throat aloud like I was going to react but I didn’t. I simply adjusted my position on my seat and then continued focusing on my laptop. Since I had a lot to do, the best thing to do was to ignore as much as I could.

“She’s such a cheap slut. I heard he never wanted her and she was only trying to force herself on him. Isn’t that stupid? Thankfully, he married someone better.”

I clutched my hands into fists, taking a deep breath in and trying so hard not to retaliate. If Heather were here, she would have stood up and slapped these bitches right away. “GOSH! So disgusting to be seated close to a gold digger.”

That was it! I couldn’t take it anymore. Everyone thought I was dating Jackson because of his money but they had no idea what I had sacrificed and done for him over the years…

“I…”

“Aurora Sterling.” I heard my name before I could utter any further words, and I cocked my head toward whoever had called me,

“The manager would like to see you!” The secretary uttered, and I nodded my head. “I’ll be right there,” I responded and released my balled fist. My heart skipped a beat at first, but I told myself that there was absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Once I shut down my laptop, I rose to my feet and began to walk away.

Even as I walked, I could still hear the whispers and murmurs of these bitches. “Very certain she saw the videos.” That was the last statement I heard before I was far away from their murmurs and I arched my brows in confusion.

I got to the elevator and stepped right in, once I got to the sixth floor, the elevator opened and I stepped out. I was standing in front of the manager’s office and before I rasped a knock on the door, I took in a deep breath.

“Come in,” I heard before I held the door knob and opened the door.

Mr. Mason was seated on his office chair and when I walked into his office, “Good morning sir, you requested to see me.” I uttered, but there was silence for a few minutes while I remained standing. I heaved, watching him focus on his laptop, and at a point, I began to bite my lower lips just to keep myself busy,

“Sit.” His voice was cold as he spoke, and I immediately took my seat,

“Aurora, take a look at this,” he uttered and then turned his laptop toward my direction. The moment I saw the videos, I lowered my head in embarrassment and silently cursed Jackson.

“Shouldn’t you raise your head to stare at me? Do you have any idea what you’ve done? Mr. Jackson Brandon, you knew he was the manager of Thompson enterprise, didn’t you?”

Those words made me flutter my brows, “What?”

“You don’t have to pretend like you didn’t, Aurora, it’s just you and I here, and you can tell me everything.” His eyes were so fixated on me and it was starting to make me feel so very uncomfortable as I stared back at him. He also had a smirk on his face.

“He never told me,” I responded. Right now, I had never been so embarrassed in my life,

I heard a light chuckle, “And so I guessed you were being played.” The look on his eyes suddenly turned into a seductive one and when I traced his eyes down to my body, I could see his gaze was on my boobs. I cleared my throat aloud and then adjusted the seat,

“I don’t think it’s right to talk about my personal life at work, sir.”

He relaxed back on his, giving me funny looks, and I watched him rise to his feet next. “And do you think it's personal now that the company is involved? At any time, the Thompson enterprise could come for us after this video.”

He moved till he was standing behind me and I shut my eyes, swallowing in a lump of saliva. Why the hell did this have to happen to me? Should I just tell him that the CEO of Thompson Enterprise was my fated mate and he badly wanted me?

“Mr.…. “I was about to keep going when I felt his hands on my shoulders, and before I could turn around to comprehend what was going on, he brought his face close to mine and slammed his lips on mine…..
