Chapter 4: The death of the old Alpha

Everyone looks in Surprise, history has repeated itself, and the young prince becomes an alpha instead of the first prince. 

"My son, our son, killed the alpha, you saw the proof yourself, right in his hand." For some reason, Leonid felt he didn't deserve the throne because Stefan had commanded him to finish the alpha of Shade Grey but his mother had always wanted him to be the Alpha, the old Luna was the one advocating for his son, she treated him more like an adult even when he was a boy, so he could fit into the position of being a king, an alpha king. He has to be king and only him. 

"The merit of a king isn't evaluated by the number of enemies he had killed but by the number of people he had saved, Stefan brought back his sister's safe home and saved many soldiers while fighting." 

"It's war, in war, they are made to kill people and not save people." Uncle Bob, take it from there, he is the old alpha's elder brother, he was supposed to be alpha but the late alpha didn't give him the crown, he gave it to his younger son who is our old alpha. 

For some reason, only he knows, he always favors Leonid, even when it comes to giving weapons and armies when we went for this war, he gave him a whole lot of troupe. 

"From this day onward, Stefan will be crowned the alpha of the shadow Moon Pack, this is my words and my words are law." 

"Stefan!!!"

"Stefan!!!"

"Stefan!!!" The crowd roared, they were excited for him to be the Alpha, the new alpha of the pack, crazy people, how could they pick someone they barely know, fine he is a good fighter and our pack seems to be the target of other stronger pack, just maybe, this will scare them away. 

Leonid gestures to him to move ahead, and as he goes behind him, I feel sorry for Leonid, he is a good person, he would have made a good alpha, and he is kind, what if this man, is wicked and the only good thing in him is the fact that he could fight. 

He walked to where the old alpha was and my dad, the beta, who will soon be history because every new alpha picks their beta. 

'All hail Alpha Stefan!!!" My dad, the beta screamed.

"Glory to him!!" 

"All hail Alpha Stefan!!!"

"Glory to him!!!"

"Glory to him!!" 

The look on Uncle Bob's face is enough to say he is not going to agree to the new development. 

"Fine then, he is to be the new alpha but he had to get married, getting himself a mate is what will make him ascend the throne, you should know, no mate, no throne, all alphas must have a mate but till then, the alpha position remains vacant and any of the two princes that got their mate first will be the alpha and remember it's supposed to be done within the next two dancing feast." 

That is short a time for him to get himself a mate, in our pack, we organize a dancing feast, every four days, where those female wolves who are still without a mate, could get an opportunity to be claimed if they miss the royal ball because the royal family is the only ones allow to claimed their mate on that day, which means eight days, is what he got to lose the throne. 

Stupid me, I know he must have someone to pick, the lady from earlier will be perfect, so I thought but I noticed his expression had darkened. 

Stefan was angry but he tried not to show it, I saw him ball his fist and run his hand through his nape to calm himself

I am sure, he wouldn't be scared of Uncle Bob. He is no match for him, he is nothing compared to the old Alpha, who I am sure, might not live to see the next day. 

He didn't say a word, I watched him walk out of the field and everyone's eyes went after him, he was handsome, I moved my gaze as he walked out, then all of a sudden he turned and our eyes met, I drop it very fast, those eyes of his were beautiful, is like silver and blue, like the sky, his eyes are hazel eyes, where every woman will want to drown on, I thought Leonid is the most handsome man in the entire pack but this one is the king of handsomeness. 

The ceremony was over and everyone was going home, I could hear the girls talking senselessly about him, they were drooling openly about the alpha in wait. 

"Father, can you make the new alpha pick me, I like him, he is handsome, and the moon goddess must love him, what a perfect body build she had given him, did you see how he towers over Leonid?"

 "Kira, I thought you loved Leonid." I questioned in frustration. 

"Yes but not anymore, I want the new alpha, I never knew that the old Alpha had such a loving son, his arm is strong and I heard the soldiers whispering that, the war was victorious because of him, that he was the one who instructed Leonid to kill that monster of an alpha."

People are gossipers. Those words were in my head, and then my father's voice came up. 

"Kira, you should stop fantasizing about him, I think he might have someone to pick, Hazel, she is known to be the best archer of his grandmother's pack and also his best friend. 

We all have the belief that they will make a powerful couple but I also heard that he had never thought of any woman that way, he has always seen females as something for wild rough sex, and after that, they are history to him. 

He believes women are demons and the downfall of every man, having a woman around him will make him prey to his enemies and his father is also a victim of women, Leonid's mother, the present Luna is the one who hacks the coup that led to the death of his mother and his grandmother banished, that he has to leave the pack."

"Such a pity." I commented as I fell on the couch since we were home already, the maid prepared something pretty nice for us to eat, and after the meal, we retired to our different rooms.

It wasn't long before we heard the gong of the drum, that was the sound that the old alpha is no more. 

"Shit!!! What a tragedy!" The entire pack was full of the wailing of women and children, they were lamenting and the men just kept sighing, the alpha was to be buried that same day, he passed on, so preparations were made for him to be put to rest. 

Walking slowly to Leonid who is so down, I watch him sit all alone. 

"Come on Leonid, you should not feel bad, you should know the alpha had been sick and that attack made it worse."

"I know it will happen but I never thought that I could be mad at him before his death, I felt like a worthless son whose greed for the throne clouded his sense of reasoning."

"You are not a worthless son, you are the best son every father will want to have."

"Stop it, Fiona, you just want to make me feel better." He mumbled. 

"Look at me." I said cupping my hands on his cheeks as I made him look at me, our eyes met, and I parted my lips to say something but I was taken unaware by his lips sealing mine, and he kissed me. That was my first kiss, no one had ever done that to me, I was like an outcast, and no one found me attractive. But here, Prince Leonid is feasting on my lips.
