Chapter Fifteen: Lyzaria

2020-12-02 12:00:15Lyza! Someone is coming! Mitalonys growls in my head. I peel my eyes open and see a shadow just above me.
I sit up with a jerk, but the person straddles me and lifts a knife high above their head.
I grab their arms, stopping the blade just centimeters from my chest. They let out a growl and push down harder. Mitalonys has strength flowing through my arms within seconds.
“Get the hell off me!” I yell, shoving them completely off me. They fall onto their back and I quickly snatch the knife from where it fell to the ground.
I toss it behind me and watch as the person gets up and notice they are wearing a black mask.
“If I have to, I am going to kill you with my bare hands,” she yells and my face falls in realization.

My shoulder is bleeding badly, but I ignore it, the wound very minimal compared to some of my past ones. Kailo’s dragon, Venix, is growling furiously.Venix doesn’t take complete control of Kailo’s actions like Talon does mine. I let out a growl as the wolf continues to yell at me. I leap off of the back of the warrior’s dragon. My dress flies around me as I fall through the air.I land in a silent crouch, just inside the edge of the burning forest. I wake up to a loud knocking at my bedroom door. I sit up with a groan.“Come in,” I say. I look up and see one of my guards.“Alpha, the messenger from the Mountains is back,” he informs me. The urgency in his voice makes me hurriedly follow him through the house.He leads me to my office where he stands guard outside the door. I walk in to see my Beta beside a ragged-looking wolf.His hair is sticking up in multiple directions, there are dark circles under his eyes, and he is covered in dirt. His shoulders are slumped, and he looks exhausted.“I apologize Alpha for my condition, I could not stop and what I have to tell you is too important to wait until morning,” he says, his voice hoarse.“Get him some water,” my Beta tells the guard outside.

I can’t feel anything. My entire body is numb. My memories are distorted too, all I remember is my father telling me that we have to leave soon, and then the fire.Something presses around my neck and I realize I am being dragged to the ground by a chain. The ground shakes and a plume of dust floats over us.Kailo soars down from the clouds, his wings beating away the cloud of dirt. I see he is missing an eye and half of his face is badly burned.“Oh shit, I don’t think she’s getting up,” someone whispers behind me.Then flames suddenly burst from within the dirt cloud. I jump back, narrowly avoiding getting my eyebrows burned off.
