Gabe had been spending some time working at home because he wanted to be closer to Alex ever since the accident in the woods.

They had both concealed the real occurrence of what had happened that night, instead saying that she had walked out to the garden that night to take a breath of fresh air when she slipped and fell, and he happened to be awake and heard her.

Admitting that Alex had followed him would make Dee and Ms. Alice realize that Alex was a curious person, and if there was one thing a werewolf doesn’t like, it was people especially humans sniffing around. They were already here to watch them both and keep them in check, so he didn’t add more.

He would be going out later in the evening to meet Detective Holmes again. He could have told him to come here but he didn’t want anyone to know that he was meeting a detective aside asking the elders to find something out for him. They had met some days ago, and this would be their first meeting but first, he needed to see Alex.

Detective Holmes loved working for Alpha Gabe, and he had always been a freelance detective, which made him able to keep working for him as confidential as possible. This wasn’t the first case he had worked on for him, but this seemed like the biggest of them all, and he had concluded that because of the things he was starting to discover. Alpha Gabe had asked him to work as silently as possible because he didn’t want the elders to find out he couldn’t trust them enough to leave things entirely up to them, and that was the only thing that was slowing him down. Past times, it had always been something about work, but now, it had to do with the alpha's personal life, and that itself was an honor. He had something big he needed to work on for him, but this was turning out to be bigger than he thought it would be. It seemed as if so many things were connected, but he wasn’t sure how deep it was yet, and that was why he needed to go to where he had been given an address to. Alpha Gabe

  • Mate on His Front Door   A Shock

It’s been about three hours since he was bent over the table looking for something distinctive, something that would call his attention, but there was nothing so far. It might be true that he was taking his time to get things in place but this was still slower than he expected. Holmes grabbed the second cup of coffee he had been sipping for the last half an hour or something to see that it was empty. Going through two cups of coffee, and two snickers later, he was still very far behind. He knew that this was going to be a long time anyway, but it didn’t stop him from feeling a little bit of a lack of hope. Looking up, he looked around the cafeteria to see that he was not the only one there anymore. A couple and a female kid sat at the other end of the cafeteria with a staff of the orphanage, having late lunch, and he studied them. He could see the smiles on the couple's faces, making it clear to him that they must be happy about something. Perhaps, they want to adopt the kid and wer

  • Mate on His Front Door   Breakfast on the Patio

Being treated like a child when she was getting healed was one of the major motivations for Alex to get well as soon as she could. Her knee was all better, and the wound was left with nothing but a tiny scar and a dull pain. There was no need to stay in bed with Ms. Alice or Dee fussing over her like she was some princess. She was now capable of doing what she was in Berkeley Moore to do. Moreover, she hated sitting around for too long in one place, and as of now, she was tired of her room, so this morning, she had woken up early to get to her chores. As she stood under the shower, she allowed the water to wash away all the recent thoughts she had been having about Gabe. This was not why she was given a job, and she had to remember that she couldn’t go back to her family for any reason, no matter what, so it was better to do a better job and stay than get herself fired. If Gabe wanted nothing to do with her, she wasn’t going to force it or grovel at his feet for it to happen. She w

  • Mate on His Front Door   "I'm Watching You"

Gabe must say, he had a really good time but the fact that he had to mind link Max to get the hell away from his mate continued to come back into his head. He watched the people around the table, eating, talking, and even laughing and he sighed. He realized that there was a need for him to call Max aside one day and talk to him about knowing the boundaries and the lines he was not supposed to cross. Gabe knew that he wasn’t a jealous man, not before Alex came into his life, but she had made him this way as soon as they met. This was the description of a woman ruining him for other women. When Gabe had looked all over for his mate and couldn’t find her, he had thought that he was going to have to settle. He had been so nonchalant about whether or not he would have feelings for whoever he was going to have to settle with, but now, all of that had changed. Alex had changed him. There was a way he was always feeling about her that made him always want to hold her in his arms, not let h

  • Mate on His Front Door   Grocery Shopping With Cara

Going grocery shopping with Cara was exactly the way it had been back in college days, with her always so indecisive with what product of an item to get. She had dropped the spaghetti for the third time, picking each and every one of them, squinting her eyes to read through what was written, then shaking his head and dropping it to move to the next one. Alex shook her head at that and blew out a breath. She shouldn’t have told Cara where she was going when she called her, but she had wanted to see her so bad that she didn’t even think twice about it. “Cara, just pick one of them, and let’s move on.” She said as she moved the cart out of the way as a couple walked by with their baby in the stroller in front of them. They had a smile on their faces, and Alex felt an ache in her chest as she looked at the love they have for one another displayed on their faces. Cara grunted. “I can’t do that. I want the best ones.” She said. “How would you know which ones are best, huh?” Alex asked

  • Mate on His Front Door   Rivalry?

Alex was in the kitchen making dinner when she heard the door open, and Max walked in. Looking at him over her shoulder, she said. “Hey, Max. How are you today?” Max walked to her with a mischievous smirk on his face, and that got Alex frowning mentally. His hair was messy and wet, and that made her realize that he had just gotten out of the shower. He came to stand behind her and peeked at what she was cooking over her shoulder. “That smell fantastic.” He said and she smiled. If she wasn’t so charmed and taken or blown away by someone else, she would have developed a high crush on Max. He was a charming person and he knew how to make a woman blush. He was young and handsome, but the only problem was that he couldn’t hold a candle to how gorgeous Gabe was. Grunting because she had thought about Gabe again when she promised herself not to, she stirred what she was cooking. It wasn’t surprising to her though, seeing as she had always said that but flatter before she could even hold

  • Mate on His Front Door   Rejection

It was as if it happened in slow motion, but it didn’t, as she watched Max staring down at her one minute, and the next he started to lower his head down, his eyes starting to close. Okay, so Alex might be naïve when it came to all of this, but she wants that clueless as to what was on his mind at that moment. What in the world was he trying to do? She asked herself, but this time, she knew the answer already. She just couldn’t believe that it was actually happening. She wondered why she had not seen this coming and that made her grimace. She wanted to beat herself up for being that slow to catch up on what was happening. This must have been the reason for the look she had seen in his eyes a couple of times earlier when she had looked at him. He was so close to her that she could feel his hot breath on her face, and smell the food he had for lunch right there. He had had something with garlic in it, and that repulsed her a little. Why hadn’t he brushed his teeth to rid of the smell

  • Mate on His Front Door   Blood Boiling

Gabe came home just in time for dinner, so he was happy that Alex wouldn’t have to eat alone, or without him. He got out of the car, not waiting for Fabio to park the car or say anything to him. He grabbed his suitcase and walked to the front door. As he entered, he looked around the warm house and saw that no one was in the living room. He walked there and threw his bag on the couch before proceeding to the kitchen. Alex was probably still cooking or maybe she was done already, but he needed to see her. There was good news so he was feeling a bit generous tonight. There was news about the concealed human, and that was enough to give him hope. He couldn’t tell Alex anything yet, because it was complicated and he still have to talk to Dean about it. He walked to the kitchen to find it empty and he creased his eyebrows in a frown. Where could she be, was the question that roam his head. He didn’t know whether or not she was at home, but it couldn’t possibly be that she was still out b

  • Mate on His Front Door   Epilogue

Epilogue Three years Later “Gaby, go call your papa for dinner. He should be in his room.” Alex told her three year old daughter. Little Gaby shook her head and said. "No, mommy. Papa is being a wolf outside with Alex.” she pointed to the door of the kitchen that led to the backyard. Alex had two beautiful daughters, twins, Gabrielle and Alexis. They were her life, and she loved them so much. Nodding, she smiled at the girl and shook her head at her as she licked her lollipop. She kept telling them both it was going for their teeth, but their father would sneak it to them. She could tell the only reason Gaby wasn't hiding her candy lollipop was that she was carried away. "Gaby, what's that you have in your hand?” she asked her. “Huh,” she removed the lollipop from her mouth and started at it for a second, then she quickly hid it behind her. Smiling, Alex shook her head.Soon, she heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen door and Gabe stepped inside, Alexis behind him. She al

  • Mate on His Front Door   Shaken

Alex slept for two hours straight and she had just woken up five minutes ago. She was standing in the kitchen with Gabe standing at the end of the table watching her as she moved around, slicing this and salting that.Mrs. Teddy just arrived ten minutes earlier with the ingredient she had listed off at the hospital, and he had instructed her to wash them and get them all ready and sorted for her. That made Alex's job easier for her. She was making brown rice, fried salmon, and chicken soup. She already had the pot in the cooker and she had put in all the vegetables she chopped into it; including the spinach and broccoli. They are low in calories, and they are a great source of calcium, iron, vitamin C, and heart-healthy antioxidants. She allowed the vegetables to cook on medium heat until they were soft. She stir-fry the vegetables for a little while before she added the boiled chicken and seasoning to it. She was cooking it in the special way her mother had taught her how to. She

  • Mate on His Front Door   Getting Food

After bringing the coffee, Tim asked them to wait outside, and not to go home until they were able to see the cute little baby that just joined the family. Sitting outside with his wife, Gabe wrapped his hand around Alex's shoulder and pulled her to him so that she would rest against him. “Do you think we should stay? You look tired.” “I am, but we should wait.” She said. Thankfully, Tim soon poked his head out of the hospital room's door, and he said to Gabe. "Come on, Gabe. You can now see the baby." He said. With a nod, he stood up. "Will you stay here?” “I'll come with you.” She said and he nodded. They proceeded to the room and followed Tim to the side of Cara's bed. Cara was carrying her daughter and she used a pink blanket to wrap around her. Gabe could have sworn that the baby was as pink as the blanket itself. She was so beautiful and she had chubby cheeks. She was closing her eyes so Gabe couldn't see the color of they were but he knew that they would be beautiful. Cara

  • Mate on His Front Door   Happy For Cara

Alex was all happy, smiling and nodding at everything Cara said. She had had a peek at the baby before she was taken away so that they could clean her properly. She was so pink and so beautiful that Alex's heart swelled with pride and happiness for her friend. This was what people called a bundle of joy. She was going to be experiencing it soon, in a few months, and she couldn't wait. Although, she had also seen the pain that came with it, and that scared her, but the happiness in her heart at the moment didn't allow her to dwell on it. This was the first time that Alex witnessed childbirth, and so far she feared and loved the experience, the feeling she got. She bent down to whisper into Cara's ear and told her that she was going out to see Gabe.“I'm so happy for you both.” She wanted to say, but she could see that Cara was already so tired. Telling her that would make her all pumped up to talk more about her own feeling and how happy she was. “Okay, you should do that.” She said

  • Mate on His Front Door   Pearl's Arrival

Getting out of the car even before Gabe parked it made him so angry he wanted to yell at her, slamming on the brake before she could jump out. Why the hell was she acting so reckless all of a sudden when she could as well calm down and still get to her sister in the end? He gave her a look that could have melted her head off if that was possible and gritted his teeth. "That was dangerous, Alex. Why did you think it was okay to open the car door when I haven't even stopped the car?”“I'm sorry.” She said, her voice a little bit low. Her phone had been ringing off the hook since they were on their way here. She had picked it every time, and Cara kept telling her to get herself there if she didn't want her to kill her. “You could have been killed if I didn't stop the car. You almost got down from the car if I didn't stop you.” “I wasn't thinking straight.” She said. She had been so distracted, thinking about the kind of pain that her sister must be going through, with the pain that

  • Mate on His Front Door   The Call

Alex had just woken up a little minutes past six o'clock in the morning when her phone rang. She had been sleeping with her body half across Gabe's body so she tried to get off him but his hand tightened his hold around her waist. He moaned and moved even closer to her, pushing his face into the crack of her neck. He sniffed and moaned again. He was probably dreaming about her, or at least, that was what she thought was happening.“Gabe,” she called softly. "let me get up, okay.” She said. She wasn't sure he heard her but she would try. She was tired but her phone was ringing, and for someone to be calling at that time, it must be something important.“Gabe, remove your hand off me. I need to get to my phone.” She said again. She tried raising his hand that was across her belly but he was not bulging. She raised her head to look up at him to see his eyes were now wide open, with no residual of sleep on his face. He had been watching her sleep, and she wondered for how long that had

  • Mate on His Front Door   Pillow Talk

"Alex, finish the bowl," Gabe instructed and Alex made a sour face, not liking the situation at all. She wondered what she had gotten herself into and how she would get herself out of it. "Gabe, I am done. I am not hungry anymore." She whined and pushed the tray away. She held her breath as she said that, hoping that would work and he would leave her the heck alone. "Finish it. You are pregnant. You need to take care of your diet now. I don't want you to black out as you did after the honeymoon." He said and picked up the bowl. He was determined to make sure she finished the food, and if that required him spoon-feeding her himself, then that was exactly what he would do. Filling the spoon with the soup, he raised his hand and extended it towards her mouth, opening his in a gesture for her to go the same. Groaning in a complaint, she finally opened her mouth and allowed him to slide the food inside.“I won't black out again, you know. The doctor already examined me.” She said and he

  • Mate on His Front Door   Honeymoon

"And I take her to be my lawfully mated wife,” Gabe said, and the elder that officiated their marriage said. "You may kiss the bride.”Alex knew that she would always remember Gabe's sweet reaction when he turned to kiss her as the elder had said. He was smiling brightly, his eyes laced with tears of joy. She could tell he was as happy as she was even though she had been getting cold feet at the beginning of the day, up until the start of the ceremony itself. He caught her lips as he kissed her passionately, her searing hot mouth making her want more than the kiss he was giving, but she couldn't have. They were outside after all, with a lot of people present, and she wasn't about to give them a free show. That would be doing something nasty. As Alex lost herself in the kiss, it was the loud cheer of the people around them that drew her back a little. She could tell that they were all so happy for them. At least, most of them. There was no way everyone around a person will completel

  • Mate on His Front Door   Happy Day

Today was one of the happiest days of Alex's life, no doubt. She was not just happy though, she was elated, or any other word she could use to describe the way she felt at this very moment. It also happened to be the day she had been waiting for and dreaming about since she became a grown woman. She had basically prepared her mind for this very day and now that it was here, she was glad, feeling ten folds of the happiness she had always dreamt of. She couldn’t wait to be addressed as Mrs. Berkeley, and today was the day she was going to say “I do” to the man that she loved so much, even though it was just going to be one of the wedding ceremonies, it was as important as the one they would do at the pack house to have them officially mated. It was more or less a joining of some sort. She had always dreamt of spending the rest of her lifetime with the man that loved and cared for her and her family this way. She was just too happy to express her joy. She realized that the way she was
