She heard Beverly interrupt her mother as she jumped in happiness, then she said. “Oh my God, that’s so good. This is such great news. Now, all you have to do is tell me and I'll go tell Gabe so that we can talk about it and I can get him back for doing the huge favor.”

What the heck? Beverly's mother knew about who had concealed their child. That was surely something, and she had kept it quiet. God knows how many other people knew about it right? It was bound to come out in no time then.

But Alex thought that if the woman was talking about it to her daughter somewhere this far, then she didn’t want anyone else to hear, and that could only mean two things. It was either she didn’t want anyone to hear because she didn’t want the people that knew about it as well to know she was starting to talk, by telling her daughter, or she didn’t want them to hear because no one else knew about it.

Wow, this was serious. She wondered what to do with what she was hearing right now. Perhaps, it was

  • Mate on His Front Door   Confrontation

Alex was in the pack house. She had come here with Gabe because he would be spending most of the day here and she didn't want to stay at home alone. She sat in the kitchen and waited for Cara and Dee to show up, but she focused on her phone, checking out the internet. She knew they weren't far away from here, so there was no need to go out to others that were sitting in the living room. Another week had passed after what she heard from Beverly and her mother, and she spent most of her time in the office, or one time, here. It was Cara and Dee that had kept her sane when she came here because there was nothing to do here, yet. It was as if she doesn't really belong here but does. The fact that she was the queen of this pack, but not yet mated or joined to its king was something that was a bit territorial issue for her. When she was at home, the silence in the huge house always eat her up, but she would busy herself with taking care of the house, cleaning it, cooking, and cleaning. • Mate on His Front Door   Rattling Beverly Out

Cara threw her head back and laughed loudly, so loudly they all furrowed their brows as they looked at her, surprised she was laughing when nothing was funny, but Alex knew she wouldn’t without a reason. When she was done laughing, she said. "You know that I've always known the kind of person that you are, and you're so undeserving of Gabe. You deserve the man you're gummed with. I'm sure he doesn't know you're planning on taking back the man you left for him. Your life is a movie right, keep it on. I'm sure Alex will sit calmly and let you take her man." She finished with sarcasm dripping off the side of her mouth.Beverly opened and closed her mouth a few times, probably because she couldn't say what she wanted to or couldn't think of what to say. After a moment, she shook her head and started to walk away from the kitchen. Quickly, Alex stood up and blocked her path. Slowly, she raised her hand and Beverly flinched back her head as if she was scared that Alex was about to hit her.

  • Mate on His Front Door   The Curious Cat

Today was the day Mason and Marilyn had promised to tell the elders about their concealed human child, and it made Alex nervous, even though it had nothing to do with her. She was told by Gabe who had told her he was going to the pack house earlier that morning. She had told him she wanted to follow him but he had insisted she stayed back at Berkeley Moore. Knowing the outcome of the meeting was all that mattered to her. It was important to her because of two reasons, and that included how Cara would feel if the outcome was bad, or how Gabe would feel if it wasn’t. If it ended up well, meaning that the elders had decided to just take it lightly, then it simply meant that they had only been pretending about the reason why Gabe couldn’t be with her, which meant that the concern about them giving birth to a human child as the alpha and Luna was just a cover. If the meeting ended badly, and the elders decided to take this seriously as it was, not only will they ask Cara's parents to di

Cara and Dean we’re seated side by side with their hands joined under the table. The elders sat around the table as well, with the alpha at the head of the table and their parents at the end. She could see that their mother was nervous as she sat there beside their father and for a minute there, she felt the sympathy her mother had wanted from her for a second. She could tell that she was nervous and her heart was probably beating too fast. Just as they were about to start the meeting, a knock sounded on the door of the room, and it ripped open to show Detective Holmes standing there. He had a file in hand. The man was very tall, so there was never a time he wasn’t noticed when he was around. He smiled as he stepped into the room and closed the door behind him. Now, everyone was there, so the meeting, if she could call it that, could finally start. “Good afternoon, everyone.” Detective Holmes greeted and then he took the last vacant seat that was on the left-hand side of the alpha.

  • Mate on His Front Door   Almost Over

Everyone was silent as they looked at the detective, and Gabe squinted his eyes at Cara to decide what game she was trying to play. He knew that she had been sitting down scared since the meeting started, so talking and saying what she did came as a surprise to him. Either way, they had proof, so he was sure Detective Holmes would handle it. He turned to look at the man to see that he now had a smug smile on his face, and he wondered what he was about to say. “Well, if you all will turn to the sixth page of that file you’re holding, you’ll see the reason I was convinced it was Mason and Marilyn's child.” The detective said as he used his fingers to take back his curly brown hair that he had just washed that morning. “Besides, I’m not sure they would lie about it now. They’re not that kind of people, so there they’re sitting down,” he said, pointing at the couple. “you can ask them.” If this wasn’t such a bad situation, Gabe would have laughed at the way the detective delivered the

  • Mate on His Front Door   A Twist

They were still seated in the room when Gabe felt a change in the atmosphere and he furrowed his brows in confusion. Something was happening, and he could feel it, something that had nothing to do with the meeting they were having or the people that were there. He wouldn’t really say he had the idea of what it could be, except for the change in the atmosphere. Sighing, he shook off the feeling and concentrated back on the meeting. “When do you think you can find the child?” one of the elders asked and Detective Holmes shrugged.“I can’t be precise but, I’m sure I can soon if I have all the help I can get.” He said. Gabe nodded. “That’s find. I’ll have another detective contact you, so he can work hand in hand with you. That way, you’ll have all the help you can get.” He said. Detective Holmes shook his head and one of the elders chuckled. “That’s not what I mean, alpha Gabe. I believe the elders know what I mean. One of the old elders is known to have the Clairvoyant Spirit, alt

  • Mate on His Front Door   Human or Werewolf

“This can’t be true.” Gabe heard her grandmother repeat and that got a frown from him. What was she going on about, anyway? She was looking down at the picture in her hand as if she had seen a ghost of some horrible kind and that didn’t go down his mind well. “What’s going on, grandmother?” He asked. It’s been a long time ago since he had last seen his grandmother or even his brother, and now that they were both here, to help as they had so put it, he was glad, but now, seeing his grandmother's white sheet face made the gladness short-lived. He just wished that she would tell them what was going on so that they can get on with it. His grandmother shook her head, her mouth dropped open with her jaw practically on the floor of the meeting room. She used her bony fingers to take her hair back, pushing the stubborn curl back behind her ear, and then she looked up from the picture to Mason and then to Marilyn. “I would like for you to tell me everything about this child, from when sh

  • Mate on His Front Door   True or Not

“I won’t gain a thing by lying now to you all, will I?” She asked as she looked around the people in the room. “I mean, won’t this affect my grandson as well?” She shook her head with a sigh. Gabe spoke next. “That’s why we want to be sure of how you know this if you’re right.” He said. Well, Naomi knew that there were a lot of things that these young werewolves don’t understand and that was the numerous gift or curses a lot of them had gotten back then. It depended on the way the bearer of the gift saw it, whether as a gift or otherwise. She was among the few who had been blessed with the gift even though her parents had had to keep it under wraps her whole life. Now, she was old, with grandchildren and only a small number of people knew about it. She was blessed with seeing things that the ordinary people wouldn’t see, something that might be hard to believe but something significant. • Mate on His Front Door   Epilogue

Epilogue Three years Later “Gaby, go call your papa for dinner. He should be in his room.” Alex told her three year old daughter. Little Gaby shook her head and said. "No, mommy. Papa is being a wolf outside with Alex.” she pointed to the door of the kitchen that led to the backyard. Alex had two beautiful daughters, twins, Gabrielle and Alexis. They were her life, and she loved them so much. Nodding, she smiled at the girl and shook her head at her as she licked her lollipop. She kept telling them both it was going for their teeth, but their father would sneak it to them. She could tell the only reason Gaby wasn't hiding her candy lollipop was that she was carried away. "Gaby, what's that you have in your hand?” she asked her. “Huh,” she removed the lollipop from her mouth and started at it for a second, then she quickly hid it behind her. Smiling, Alex shook her head.Soon, she heard footsteps coming towards the kitchen door and Gabe stepped inside, Alexis behind him. She al

  • Mate on His Front Door   Shaken

Alex slept for two hours straight and she had just woken up five minutes ago. She was standing in the kitchen with Gabe standing at the end of the table watching her as she moved around, slicing this and salting that.Mrs. Teddy just arrived ten minutes earlier with the ingredient she had listed off at the hospital, and he had instructed her to wash them and get them all ready and sorted for her. That made Alex's job easier for her. She was making brown rice, fried salmon, and chicken soup. She already had the pot in the cooker and she had put in all the vegetables she chopped into it; including the spinach and broccoli. They are low in calories, and they are a great source of calcium, iron, vitamin C, and heart-healthy antioxidants. She allowed the vegetables to cook on medium heat until they were soft. She stir-fry the vegetables for a little while before she added the boiled chicken and seasoning to it. She was cooking it in the special way her mother had taught her how to. She

  • Mate on His Front Door   Getting Food

After bringing the coffee, Tim asked them to wait outside, and not to go home until they were able to see the cute little baby that just joined the family. Sitting outside with his wife, Gabe wrapped his hand around Alex's shoulder and pulled her to him so that she would rest against him. “Do you think we should stay? You look tired.” “I am, but we should wait.” She said. Thankfully, Tim soon poked his head out of the hospital room's door, and he said to Gabe. "Come on, Gabe. You can now see the baby." He said. With a nod, he stood up. "Will you stay here?” “I'll come with you.” She said and he nodded. They proceeded to the room and followed Tim to the side of Cara's bed. Cara was carrying her daughter and she used a pink blanket to wrap around her. Gabe could have sworn that the baby was as pink as the blanket itself. She was so beautiful and she had chubby cheeks. She was closing her eyes so Gabe couldn't see the color of they were but he knew that they would be beautiful. Cara

  • Mate on His Front Door   Happy For Cara

Alex was all happy, smiling and nodding at everything Cara said. She had had a peek at the baby before she was taken away so that they could clean her properly. She was so pink and so beautiful that Alex's heart swelled with pride and happiness for her friend. This was what people called a bundle of joy. She was going to be experiencing it soon, in a few months, and she couldn't wait. Although, she had also seen the pain that came with it, and that scared her, but the happiness in her heart at the moment didn't allow her to dwell on it. This was the first time that Alex witnessed childbirth, and so far she feared and loved the experience, the feeling she got. She bent down to whisper into Cara's ear and told her that she was going out to see Gabe.“I'm so happy for you both.” She wanted to say, but she could see that Cara was already so tired. Telling her that would make her all pumped up to talk more about her own feeling and how happy she was. “Okay, you should do that.” She said

  • Mate on His Front Door   Pearl's Arrival

Getting out of the car even before Gabe parked it made him so angry he wanted to yell at her, slamming on the brake before she could jump out. Why the hell was she acting so reckless all of a sudden when she could as well calm down and still get to her sister in the end? He gave her a look that could have melted her head off if that was possible and gritted his teeth. "That was dangerous, Alex. Why did you think it was okay to open the car door when I haven't even stopped the car?”“I'm sorry.” She said, her voice a little bit low. Her phone had been ringing off the hook since they were on their way here. She had picked it every time, and Cara kept telling her to get herself there if she didn't want her to kill her. “You could have been killed if I didn't stop the car. You almost got down from the car if I didn't stop you.” “I wasn't thinking straight.” She said. She had been so distracted, thinking about the kind of pain that her sister must be going through, with the pain that

  • Mate on His Front Door   The Call

Alex had just woken up a little minutes past six o'clock in the morning when her phone rang. She had been sleeping with her body half across Gabe's body so she tried to get off him but his hand tightened his hold around her waist. He moaned and moved even closer to her, pushing his face into the crack of her neck. He sniffed and moaned again. He was probably dreaming about her, or at least, that was what she thought was happening.“Gabe,” she called softly. "let me get up, okay.” She said. She wasn't sure he heard her but she would try. She was tired but her phone was ringing, and for someone to be calling at that time, it must be something important.“Gabe, remove your hand off me. I need to get to my phone.” She said again. She tried raising his hand that was across her belly but he was not bulging. She raised her head to look up at him to see his eyes were now wide open, with no residual of sleep on his face. He had been watching her sleep, and she wondered for how long that had

"Alex, finish the bowl," Gabe instructed and Alex made a sour face, not liking the situation at all. She wondered what she had gotten herself into and how she would get herself out of it. "Gabe, I am done. I am not hungry anymore." She whined and pushed the tray away. She held her breath as she said that, hoping that would work and he would leave her the heck alone. "Finish it. You are pregnant. You need to take care of your diet now. I don't want you to black out as you did after the honeymoon." He said and picked up the bowl. He was determined to make sure she finished the food, and if that required him spoon-feeding her himself, then that was exactly what he would do. Filling the spoon with the soup, he raised his hand and extended it towards her mouth, opening his in a gesture for her to go the same. Groaning in a complaint, she finally opened her mouth and allowed him to slide the food inside.“I won't black out again, you know. The doctor already examined me.” She said and he

"And I take her to be my lawfully mated wife,” Gabe said, and the elder that officiated their marriage said. "You may kiss the bride.”Alex knew that she would always remember Gabe's sweet reaction when he turned to kiss her as the elder had said. He was smiling brightly, his eyes laced with tears of joy. She could tell he was as happy as she was even though she had been getting cold feet at the beginning of the day, up until the start of the ceremony itself. He caught her lips as he kissed her passionately, her searing hot mouth making her want more than the kiss he was giving, but she couldn't have. They were outside after all, with a lot of people present, and she wasn't about to give them a free show. That would be doing something nasty. As Alex lost herself in the kiss, it was the loud cheer of the people around them that drew her back a little. She could tell that they were all so happy for them. At least, most of them. There was no way everyone around a person will completel

  • Mate on His Front Door   Happy Day

Today was one of the happiest days of Alex's life, no doubt. She was not just happy though, she was elated, or any other word she could use to describe the way she felt at this very moment. It also happened to be the day she had been waiting for and dreaming about since she became a grown woman. She had basically prepared her mind for this very day and now that it was here, she was glad, feeling ten folds of the happiness she had always dreamt of. She couldn’t wait to be addressed as Mrs. Berkeley, and today was the day she was going to say “I do” to the man that she loved so much, even though it was just going to be one of the wedding ceremonies, it was as important as the one they would do at the pack house to have them officially mated. It was more or less a joining of some sort. She had always dreamt of spending the rest of her lifetime with the man that loved and cared for her and her family this way. She was just too happy to express her joy. She realized that the way she was
