The chatter from the girl managed to reap a smile from the man whose usually his face was only stiff and cold.

Isabelle couldn't see the smile from the man because of Victor's position with his back to her. Her short steps made her a bit far behind because the road they were on was quite uphill.

The man turned and saw that the girl was struggling to climb the steep ground.
