Damon:
My ears picked up an almost silent sniffle coming from inside the room as I got closer to the door. Other than Tammy, there was no one in the room. The closer I got to the door, the more I heard her silent cry. Suddenly, my heart was heavy like it was carrying extra weight. It was obvious she was crying.
We were just about to have dinner when the doorbell rang. Tammy was going to get it but I grabbed her arm."Don't".She gave me a baffled look that said *
Tammy:When Damon told me he wanted to take me out, I'd thought it was just a casual outing until he pulled up at the front of a mansion that I was sure was a residential home.
Tammy:As I made my way to Damon's study, I contemplated different ways of informing him of my new plans. Standing by the door, I took a deep breath to calm myself before daring to knock.
Tammy:On getting to my room, I immediately booted the laptop. I logged in to check out the courses he'd registered for me and they were all accurate. I wondered how he got everything in such a short span of time but the happiness and excitement of starting school again wiped those thoughts away.
Tammy:Damon marched out of the restaurant and dumped me into the car. He got in after me and ordered Smith to drive in a cold voice. Throughout the drive, I clung to the corner of my seat, occasionally glancing at Damon. He was looking out the window with clenched jaw and palms balled into fists. The car was dead silent with the exception of my heart thudding wildly.
Damon:I dropped my towel to put on my sweatpants when the door opened with a loud bang. And there she was, face red from anger. She was fuming. It wasn't hard to tell with the anger radiating off her.
Tammy:The car was deadly quiet as Damon drove to the town where the orphanage was located. The private investigator he'd hired included the location of the orphanage and its name.
Tammy:The drive to our new destination took another twenty minutes. The good thing was, it was within Asheville. Following the address the nun at the orphanage had given to us, Damon pulled up at the front of an old cottage.
