"Today no one holds me back," I joked, patting the old wooden counter. “I want your strongest drink!

A glass of pure milk was placed in front of me.

"It's the strongest you'll find here, Mila.

Ignoring my grimace, Samantha Hadfield smiled and leaned on the counter.

"It's been almost a century since I've seen you around here," she said, always smiling. "Are you thinking about taking your job back?

I pulled the glass of heated milk and kept sliding my finger along the edge, looking at the contents without the slightest interest. The whole floor at my feet was covered with the water dripping from my hair, and I inhaled deeply to contain a shudder from the cold. I was sitting on one of the stools of the first job I had in my sixteen years old. The snack bar still contained its strong smell of heated fat and fresh coffee. It was a little nauseating to get inspired for a long time.

"I have something to do nearby" I nodded out with my hand, without showing all the anxiety that was killing me.
