Chapter 19 She Was So Mad, She Was So Mad!

It did not matter what time of the day it was, John’s presence would instantly be pleasing to the eyes. Even if he had discharged from the army and had gone back to inherit his family business, his straight posture and iron-like aura were enough to make hearts form in Zoey’s eyes.

Zoey sucked back the saliva on the side of her mouth. Zoey nudged Natalie’s hand. “Natalie, who is this?”

“John Winters!”

“Her husband!”

They opened their mouths at the same time. One of them told her his name and one told her his identity.

When Zoey heard the word ‘husband’, her eyes opened wide in horror. “H-Husband?”

Zoey felt like a lightning had struck her hearing the explosive news. “Natalie, you’re married? When did that happen? Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I’ll explain it to you later. Now…”

Without saying anything further, Natalie grabbed the frigid man who was leaning against the door frame out of her consultation room. She turned a corner and pulled him into a staircase not far away.

“Why are you here? Is there anything?”

He allowed her to freely pull him around and finally, they had their own space. John's gaze was fixated on her exposed wound. She had not managed to dress it yet.

It was red and swollen. Even though the wound was not deep, but it was long.

His eyes darkened. His face fell. “What happened to your neck?”

“You don’t know?”

“Why should I know?”

What a guy!

Could she still expect him to stand up for her with this kind of attitude?

Whatever. Their relationship was not that great anyway. She did not want to mention the incident that would make her feel worst. She casually replied, “It’s just a small cut. You can ignore it.”

“...”

He raised his eyebrows coldly.

He rarely cared about others. His question was so hard to come by and this woman was so arrogant. She did not appreciate his kindness at all.

John was not happy, but he only pursed his lips and did not say anything. Natalie waited for a while and did not get a response from him. She asked bluntly, “Master Winters, why are you here?”

"Can't I visit my darling wife for no reason?"

“...”

Natalie had goosebumps hearing him said ‘darling wife’.

It was so sappy Natalie did not know what to answer. John suddenly continued, “Molly cried the whole night.”

Natalie lifted her head to look at him. There was confusion in her eyes.

He came here just to tell her that the spoiled little girl had cried the whole night? So what? The child had hurt her and she did not pursue the matter. So what if she had cried?

Did he expect her to comfort the little girl?

Natalie’s heart fell cold thinking about it.

John had come to question her and did not expect her to respond to him with this kind of behavior. She had bullied his daughter, yet she was still acting innocent.

His impression of her got even worse. “Do you think that you’re invincible just because my grandpa has your back?”

“I never thought that…”

“No?”

He raised his voice. It was obvious that he was extremely unhappy. “If not, then why did you make my daughter cry? She cried so hard that she couldn’t even attend school today.”

Natalie was shocked by what he said.

What did he mean that she made his daughter cry? Wasn’t her wound still on her neck? How could he just twist the facts like this?

“Do you know why she cried?”

“What else can it be? She’s bullied by you and your brother!”

Natalie almost burst out laughing.

As she felt her heart growing colder, she became tougher. “I ate dinner at your house yesterday and I didn’t see any bear heart nor leopard gall in the dishes. (T/N: metaphorically, eating bear heart and leopard gall can boost someone’s courage) Do you think I have the courage to bully the little princess of the Winters?”

John, “...”

“If you truly care for your daughter, you should ask her the real reason why she cried and not treat your assumption as the truth.”

This woman was like a hedgehog. She could stab someone to death just by opening her mouth.

John initially felt that she was being reasonable, but he sulked after hearing her provoking words. “Are you saying that I’m self-righteous?”

“I’m sorry! I accidentally said something again that you don’t like to listen, but it seemed like you wouldn’t listen if I don’t put it this way. That’s why I’ll just stop being courteous to you.”

She smirked and said coldly, “Excuse me, I still have work to do. I’ll get back to it now.”

Finishing her words, she could not be bothered with what expression he would have on his face and turned around and left.

This man looked capable and smart, but when it came to matters with his family, his brain would act as if it was covered with feces.

He was like that with Old Master Winters, and he was like that with Molly too.

She could not endure him anymore, and she would not let him simply accused her without any reason.

When she calmed down, she recalled her reaction to him just now. He must be angry with her now, right?

Actually, they did, that was eight years ago.

However, Zoey was clearly asking if they had slept together after marriage. So technically, she was not lying.
