Blair put a lot of thought into the wedding, wanting to give her only the best. However, she did not appreciate the gesture. Her tenderness and feelings for him were false.Blair was consumed by anger at the thought. “Hello? Master Blair, are you there?” As it was silent on the other end, the person asked. Blair said indifferently, “That won’t be necessary. You can shut down the construction now.” After all, the wedding was not happening anymore. “Huh?” Before the person could ask, Blair hung up. “Eat something, Master Blair,” Amos persuaded. Blair took a sip of coffee. “Take the food away. I don’t have any appetite.” Amos clearly had something on his mind. Just then, Blair’s phone rang again. Annoyed, Blair grabbed his phone grimacingly. “What is it?” Aunt Grace’s voice came on the phone. “Master Blair, there’s a woman with a little girl asking for you. She said she’s Liv.” Blair furrowed her brows. Why did Olivia go to the villa? He asked, “Tell he
Aunt Grace raised her brow in surprise following Olivia’s question. Olivia seemed to know Mable. Since Olivia knew Mable, she had the nerve to bring the child to the villa. The woman must be trying to take Mable’s place. Aunt Grace could not stand Olivia even more. With a courteous and distant smile, Aunt Grace replied, “You must be talking about the lady of the house. She went to visit family a few days ago.” Aunt Grace made it clear Mable was the lady of the house.“Really?” Olivia smiled faintly before sipping her drink. She grinned. It had been five days since Blair left Oakshire Estate. He had not visited them during the period, and he would not take her calls, either. Olivia was worried Blair would turn his back on her and Nicki because of Mable. To her surprise, Mable had left a few days ago. Olivia saw her opportunity. She put down the cup and held Nicki’s hands, asking gently, “Do you need the toilet, Nicki?” Nicki looked at 23 sitting not too far away.
Aunt Grace explained with a smile, “23 only listens to the madam and Master Blair. It won’t respond to anyone else.” The smile on Olivia’s face froze, but she quickly pulled herself together. The old hag referred to her as anyone else, like she was irrelevant. Once Olivia became the lady of the house, the first thing she vowed to do was fire Aunt Grace. The sound of a car engine came from outside the house. Olivia suspected that Blair was back. She looked at Nicki, who was nearby. “Dad is home, Nicki.” Nicki nodded and hopped off the sofa to run out. Blair had just got out of the car when Nicki came running out of the house. “Dad!” Blair found it hard to give the girl an attitude, especially when she smiled excitedly and talked cutely. He paused and let Nicki cling to his leg. Nicki looked up, her sweet puppy dog eyes blinking. “You’re finally home, Dad. I miss you so much.” Sharing the tender moment, Blair picked her up. “I’m sorry. I’ve been busy lately.”
In the upstairs bedroom, the chilling night breeze carried the intoxicating scent of flowers. Blair sat on the sofa on the bedroom balcony and stared grimly at the roses in the garden downstairs. Even though the roses had withered, the air was thick with floral scent. Blair took a sip of wine, unable to shake off the irritation. He grabbed his phone and dialed the number he knew by heart. “I’m sorry. The number you’ve dialed is unreachable at the moment.” Mable’s phone was still switched off. Blair clenched his phone. If his guess was right, Mable was likely with Rory. He had been tempted to demand Mable from Rory in the last few days. However, he managed to restrain himself. Blair thought Mable would come home to him with Ralph in his possession. However, he had not heard from her at all. She sure held it together. However, he could not take it anymore. With that in mind, Blair dialed Rory’s number. The call rang for a long time. Just as he was about to give
Rory paused before saying cheekily, “Besides, she doesn’t want to have anything to do with you anymore.” Blair scowled. “Doesn’t want anything to do with me? She can forget about that ever happening!” Their relationship aside, Blair could not possibly let her go after she stole X’s confidential files. Rory’s voice came on the phone. “Don’t forget our wager, Blair.“You have lost, so you should keep to the promise and stop seeing her.“We will get to the feud between X and Secret soon enough. It’s time to settle scores.” Blair scoffed. “Ha! Did you think the files Mable stole could shake X to its core?” Rory refused to back down. “How would we know unless we try? The war between us has only begun, Blair.” After much thought, he added, “You got one thing right. Mabes approached you to steal secrets. You can blame that on me. As we agreed, you should never see Mabes again.” Blair narrowed his eyes dangerously, his eyes filled with anger. “You don’t get to decide things. I’
Back in Fasier, Rory ended the call and summoned Adam. “Blair took Mabes’ grandfather. Send people to Richworth to rescue the old man.” Adam scowled. Ralph was Mable’s only family left in the world. If anything were to happen to him, Mable would never forgive herself. “Blair captured Ralph to force Mabes to appear.” Rory rolled his eyes. “Duh! It’s not like Blair captured him to give him a nice retirement home.” Adam had no words. “Why did he do that, though? He and Mabes—” Adam was struck by a thought mid-sentence. “Did Blair think Mabes stole X’s confidential files?” Rory smirked. He had ordered Zoe to bring Mable back right after stealing the files so Blair would be suspicious of Mable. The seed of doubt he planted worked. Rory wanted Blair to feel the pain of betrayal and manipulation. He would make anybody pay for trying to harm Mable. Adam got the message from Rory’s silence. “I’ll contact Rahman to get on the job,” Adam said. Rahman often visited Ri
Mable would be in pain the whole day during the Necro Poison attack. Rory fought poison with poison, numbing her senses from pain. However, the method had rendered her unconscious for a while. The doctors would take Mable’s blood pressure and temperature every two hours. They had to give her a shot to stabilize her pregnancy, too. Adam walked into the room and instructed the doctors to monitor Mable's vitals closely, as today was crucial.Zoe could not shake off her concern as she stared at Mable’s pale face. “Mabes has been out for three days, Adam. Will she be alright?” Adam nodded. “Don’t worry. Rorr won’t let anything happen to her.” Zoe held Mable’s hand. “Please be strong, Mabes. You must make it through.” She stared at Mable’s belly and sighed to herself. She could not understand why Mable would risk her life to protect her unborn child. Was it worth it to bear the child of the man who did not love her, used her, and tried to kill her? He did not deserve her. If
After Rory left, Zoe walked in.“Mabes, are you okay?”Zoe looked at Mable’s pale face and felt somewhat regretful. Mable would not have been poisoned if Zoe had not knocked her out and brought her back.Mable shook her head. “I’m fine.”“I’m sorry.”Zoe stood before Mable and lowered her head, not daring to meet her eyes in guilt. She said she would let Mable deal with her however she wanted after she woke up.A self-deprecating smile appeared on Mable’s face. “Don’t apologize. If not for you all, I’d still be used like a fool by Blair.”Zoe looked at Mable hesitatingly. She, too, had been betrayed and used by someone she loved. So, she knew how painful it was.“Mabes, that scumbag Blair doesn’t deserve you at all. Someday, you’ll meet a man who will love you wholeheartedly.”Mable stared at Zoe and suddenly laughed. Those words she used to console Zoe had come back to her in such a short time.Mable held back the moisture in her eyes and looked at Zoe. “Zoe, aren’t I stu
