Seeing Mable lost in thought, Spike gently shook his mother's arm. "Mommy, what's wrong?"

"Nothing."

Mable snapped out of her reverie, tucked Spike in with the blanket, and said, "It's getting late; time to sleep."

Looking at Spike, Mable hesitated momentarily and added, "Spike, no matter what happens in the future, Mommy won't forget you and Daddy."

Spike nodded and hesitated, "But…"

"But what?"

Spike looked at his mother, and after a moment of hesitation, he said, "But what if someone hypnotizes you and makes you forget us? That's not something you can control."

Mable was taken aback. "Hypnotize?"

Spike nodded firmly. "Once, while I was studying, I overheard Daddy and Uncle Solomon talking. They said the reason you had amnesia was that you were hypnotized. Daddy even consulted some top hypnotists, but they couldn't help you recover your memories."

Mable listened to Spike's words with wide eyes, finding it hard to believe.
